Xda has very informative info about different android devices and awesome developers

If it wasnt for XDA, I would have several bricked phones, and no knowledge at all.. xD

I like the opportunity that XDA creates. It creates an environment where people can not only display and share their work but also where people can come learn and become developers. If not for XDA most of our eyes would still be closed. Huge Thank you to the staff and many devs on XDA!

Hello all,
This is simply an introduction.
I've had my Galaxy S since May, yes first android, and XDA has been THE most visited/read site! (In all actuality this site is the reason that I still have my phone.)
I have learned so much that I feel indebted to this site and the developers that make this site what it is...
Though I would like to thank everyone by name... I just don't know them all, and they are many.
As smart as this community is as a whole, I'm certain you all know who I'm talking about...
So, from the bottom of my bionix black ice; bali 3.1uv; fugu + init.d7; oc'd to 1.5; ext4; bloat free Samsung Galaxy S 4g... THANK YOU ALL!!

Agreed this is the best place around. Also it helps that's most devs here are ahead of the game and the first to get anything android working
my wife vibrant lol which is better b/c of me...
Welcome to XDA!! This is a great site, I find myself checking up on it everyday~

I have to say that this site along with my own experimenting has made me VERY familiar with odin. My phone performs so much better now because of the people here and there is always someone there ready to help when something does not go as planned. Thank you for this.

Well its been an experence with you guys really. But at the moment im prob going to follow in krylons footsteps and be purly rootzwiki sorry its not xda... Xda is a great site. But with THe constant Trolling pretty much almost nit pick the roms to death hey guys to build audiophile do you realize its taken me litterly as much time as i spent at work i spent more time helping people install roms fix roms fix pretty much any issue. We are Devs we are not servents. Yes we try to take your advice and wants but we have to think of the community as a whole not the individual.
Sorry if my roms didnt live up to peoples expitatons As i have always stated im not a rom person but i can build them but sorry people have expetations that i cant meet and or features i wanna bring that i been working on i cant give it to you instantly. I will still support all of Team acid rom bug fixes i will allow my work to be reposted from rootzwiki to xda but as a whole I cant read though 50 pages of trollfest to see if someone has a issue i opened up a irc chat room in hopes we could give live support and whatnot to people and pretty much other then 5 people isnt used.. NOt saying its a requirement.
I wish u all the best of luck take care

You have personally helped me many times raver. I'm spinnakernut at rootzwiki.
Thank You and see you there!
Double posted, my bad
I know there are a lot of dumbasses and annoying noobs on XDA but to me the good members completely outweigh the bad members here. We can always ignore the dumb members. It's just a common side effect that happens when a forum gets big and popular. And I guarantee once RootzWiki gets more popularity it will as well get its fair share of obnoxious members.
There's slow development going on as it is for this phone over here, but I don't see what moving there would do when there's nothing interesting for this phone in that forum except for "A post your home screen thread"...
Like I said, there's more good members here than bad. Your decision is yours and that's fine, but I'm sure I speak for everyone when i say that I hope you come back. Or at the very least be on both forums.
Anyways, good luck! And thanks for the continuing contribution.

I will miss you here, having you on xda made it feel like a great place to be. Losing krylon and now you all of the good developers are leaving for one reason or another. You made my phone better, and you were going to make gingerbread awesome. I have much respect for all of the developers and the work that they do, its time consuming and sometimes frustrating, and everyone seems to demand more and more.

they have a block user button
not saying there better or xda is worse just to sift though so many pages of childish antics to get to real questions is almost a job in itself...

[Help]: Rooting My Sony Xperia Sola 6.0.B.3.162

Help Me Modders and forum elders bought a new Xperia Sola v 6.0.B.3.162
I unlocked my bootloader successfully thanks to the tutorials in this forum
But couldn't find the tutorial to root it
All I found is knerals to flash and that too of a lower version of the firmware
Can someone guide me?

They don't even have a page dedicated for Sony Xperia Sola yet here
Developers would always depend on their personal resources for exploring, tweaking and development... Hopefully someone would always make an sponsorship for them... I'm talking about giant company, not only for sony but for other company as well.
In reality XDA become a great help ever since...
for developing and testing apps, which eventually become top paid apps...
for developing firmware, design interface, UI development and other tons of cool stuff....
I know some of this company would always a give a free samples on all various gadget reviewers online... just for marketing stunt...
I hope they will give here in XDA instead and all the developers whom really want to explore and reverse engineer all the products....
Topic. Solved!! Figured it out myself !!

Is the development of this phone dead ?

Hi everybody, i have been watching the android development forum and noticed that since marcelusbe attempt of cm10 porting dating last august no great innovation has happened. Should we consider our phone rom dead ?

Well development is slow but it isn't dead. Hillbeast and Moikop are working on kernel 3.4. Marcelusbe found job in other country, so maybe after few months he will continue his work.

Thanks but following the threads i was aware of these news. The reason of my post was that due to the rarity of the hw of our phone and the very few developers still working on it and looking at the development going on on other phones my impression is that we cannot expect too much in the future. Hope i am wrong
Unfortunately, the phone is 'old'.
I have an i5801 until today, and I stop to use, and the development was one of the reasons. Is great phone, it is. But the most ROMs that we have (CM9, CM10), doesn't connect with the camera, and when does, you can't see what are you taking because of the black image. Also have freeze lag's all the time because of the memory.
I don't blame the developers, they did an AWESOME work, but is time to move on. The new systems are to heavy for our i5800.

That's true I think that untill kernel 3.4.x is ready we can not expect a fully working cm9 or cm10 and IF they get everything working with kernel 3.4.x it will be more stable i think... But still the developers do a great work I only would say keep it up

With all your wisdom, Mr. Whatever, do you really think this thread is helpful to anybidy in any respect. I sincerely feel this thread is a polluting one. And also if you respect drvelopers who have been working more than what many other forums could see, you should atleast not support this kind of junk threads.
Think before what you react, better understand the whole thing and then react!

I can just say 1 thing, that if samsung ever takes interest in xda, we would have had a stable ics by now
But with all the hard work that all the developer are doing here, our phone has definitely become more worthy than the cost at which we all got in the past

I am truly sorry if my post caused the perception of disrespect towards the developers. I absolutely appreciate the amazing work done by all the developers in keeping this phone uptodate as possible. Even if it is not my everyday phone I am still a proud owner of the GT-I5800 and I am still using it. I am very anxious so to see it still "efficient" :good:. As correctly stated by MicroGeek i was asking more expert members than me to confirm or disregard my feeeling of "end of the game" situation. Apologies if I hurted somebody's feeling. It was not my intention

And even if we manage to fully port everything, its not great because of a small screen; the phone's main weakness and my only regret for buying it.

Why members in xda ignore hard questions

What Arnau said plus many times people don't want to look stupid on forums with as much brainpower and expertise as on the XDA forum. Some of the most brilliant people hang out here and obviously if you don't know what you're talking about, to try and bluff your way through may work on some forums, but not here.
As you visit more often, look for some of the gurus, follow their threads, Thank Them and if they help you, contribute. That might really help you get the answers you need. Good luck.
XDA is not a support site, it is a site for and about developers and development, soooo, I suggest, if you are in fact looking for support, use search here, or go elsewhere.
Meanwhile, development still occurs here at XDA.
