Smartwatch 2, and Sony Xperia Z Ultra Stamina mode? - Sony Smartwatch

Hello Members, just some help please.
In my Xperia z Ultra phone's 'stamina' mode setup, of all of my Smartwatch 2 apps and the SmartWatch 2 connect phone app are in the 'white list' for exception.
The thing is, some Smartwatch apps appear to want an 'always on' data connection, or access to it to refresh the service (an example is the weather extension), is anyone finding that they need to wake the phone to get some Smartwatch extensions to the work in whatever service they particular watch app provides.
I know there are GPS Smartwatch extension's that need the phone's GPS turn on prior to there use, but the 'Weather' extension just seems to need a Data connection.
In the phone's 'stamina' mode setup, what service, or application would need exemption from this power saving feature to allow the 3G data to be always on (or ready to connect to the network).
Any help would be great thanks

I don't think I am understanding your question. why your weather app would need to be constantly refreshed? only time I need mine refreshed is when I actually go and check it. the only things that I have made exceptions for would be bluetooth connection so that I don't drop connection to the watch every time my screen turns off and the smartwatch 2 app itself.

Hello ijOrgei, thanks for the replay, and sorry for the delayed response, you just might have hit apon the one thing I haven't made an exception in my Stamina mode setup, the 'Bluetooth' connection, I'll just need to know what I'm looking for in the 'All Applications' listing, is it labelled 'Bluetooth Share'?
Thanks

Re: Smartwatch
As i think this is the new revolution in the watch market, and it is going to take some time for improvements in the connection. Or find some other source to get connected with the phone by watch and data sharing

yea. it's labeled bluetooth share. that and smartwatch 2 are the only smartwatch related exceptions I have in Stamina mode. haven't had any issues with bluetooth connection that way. random drops here and there but usually connected majority of the time. hope that works.

[Q] Wifi batch remove - Android

Hi there.
do you know any app that removes the wifi networks automatically if I don't connect to them for a long time?
For example I have many networks that I do not connect for a long time. I would say to the app to remove all networks that I don't have connected in a given period, lets say two weeks.
Is there any app like that?
Thanks and regards

Help: Multitasking, Bluetooth keybord problem

Guys I need some help from u. On market I saw one app 'Bluekeyboard JP' app where we can connect bluetooth keybord. I saw one vdo also on youtube. It shows that it really work flawlessly. I wanted to try it because I type daily lots of msgs to my gf. But its really annoying to use touchscreen ketbord. If a bluetooth keyboard works for me then really I will be very happy. But problem is that I don't have bluetooth keyboard to test it. I couldn't test it. So if anybody has blutooth keybord or mouse then please test it with mentioned app and report here.
Also I am frustrated with multitasking of our phone. I want to browse two heavy browsers opera & mozilla simultaneously but after sometime of the browser definitely get closed without my permision. I want that any app must be closed only if I permist to get close. I found one strange thing that nimbuzz messanger never get close. It gets closed when only we want to close it manually (i tested it). Can we have same thing in other apps also...?
Is there anybody who can help me...?
I have 1 but it has a USB port........so u say we don't need it by using software ....I'll try it after i reach home I'm out of station .......

ya obviously buddy. I want one more help. Do u know any app or mod by which there should be automatic enable or disable data connection?? I mean to say in nokia phones its really easy to connect net just by launching opera & insert a site link. But in our android phone we have to first enable it before launching opera. Also when we have to close opera then even after that data connection stays connected. But in nokia when we close opera then automatically data connection also get disconnected. That is much reliable.
Umm...I will see!
Dont know much of Apps!

I made a couple of searches and found that its known as Connection on Demand.
Though nothing found for our beloved Android OS.
I guess the best alternative for you would be to use some app to disconnect data connection when.screen is off and reconnect when you turn on screen.
As for Connection On Demand, didn't hit anything yet.
About BT Mouse and Keyboard, i dont have any, so.cant help you wth it.

Tasker works flawlessly, you set a rule that "if" app Opera opened then start data connection (you need another app APNdroid for toggle) then add exit task so when you close opera thedata will be off. It can also start data based on gps location or switch wifi based on ssid or location.........it has endless possibility.
Now coming to your sms typing problem, your GF will be happy to listen your voice so use inbuilt voice recorder in .amr attach the file via sms or email her............she would love it. (hope she has compatible phone else use .mp3)
If you still want text then use & practice sound typing, the inbuilt mike on keyboard does a good job after some practice. There is another app vlingo its very good for voice commands.
Typing is old method, be smart with your smartphone.......lol

Anyway tasker with the correct profile will do all your jobs, it can even call the "personal contact" at a specified time all you need is a profile setting.

its really working flawlessly. It has taken my 2 hours to actually understand whole app. But still unable to set only one thing. Now i have set profile in such way that when i open market then data connection will start automatically & when i close market then data connection will stop automatically. But here problem is if i want open another app by keeping on market then as soon i press home key to come to home screen then data connection gets off.
Means when market is actualy open on my screen only then data connection remain on otherwise it will go off. I want that even if i do multi tasking then data connection remain on. What setting should I do?

1 way to do it but I am not sure so best is to try it else ask this in tasker thread, there are already many built user profiles on tasker site they can be used or modified.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
Multiselect all apps which you need data enabled, so as any one or more apps is opened data is enabled now don't have a usual exit task, instead make another task where "if" data mode not used for "set" time then "toggle" data. So lets say you set 5 min idle then it will switch off data after 5 min of non usage.
Just wondering why do you want to switch on & off data so frequently? Is your 3g sucking power or giving you huge bill?

my simple funda behind doing all these things is that i want internet functionality like nokia symbian phones where we dond have to turn on or off data again & again before or after doing our net relate work. It should completely automatically handle by phone.
I use docomo 4gb/month data plan for 94 rs. I download movies, vdos most of the time through ucbrowser. To download a movies it normally takes nearly 2 hours. So thats why i keep it running in background & do all other stuff like gaming, msg etc.
I set tasker profile in such a way that when I enter any net related app say ucweb then it will enable net. And when I exit (means completely closing of that app) then it will disable net.
But here funny problem is tasker consider 'exit' meaning as only going that app in background. So as per set profile it un-necessary disable net when i let ucweb run in backgroun.
I also tried as per ur suggestion. I set a timer say 15 min. But again same problem happens. Lets say my ucweb need approximately 2 hours to complete download a movie in background. Then obviously when i will let ucweb to run in background then as per timer tasker will wait for 15 min & after that it will turn off net without caring that ucweb still need net connection to download movie.
I want simple profile which will do only this
1. When i open net related app then 2g connection should on.
2. This 2g connection must run even that net related app go in background.
3. This 2g connection must turn off only when i exit from net related app (means complete closing of that app).
My requirement is very simple. Still i will try myself. U also help me

[APP][4.1+][FREE][10-SEP-2016] Push Notifications Fixer No-Root v2.5

FEATURED by Whatsapp Support Page
Hi everyone,
Are you experiencing delayed push notifications from GTalk/Hangouts, GMail, Whatsapp (partial fix), Facebook, Play Store web install, etc? If so, then this app its for you!!
It's FREE! No banners. No ads. Please consider donating to the developer (link in the app).
This app work for EVERY phone. ROOT is NOT required
Root version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142503
This app basically keep alive the push connection on your phone. It avoid the tcp connection timeout that can occurs on some wifi routers or on some mobile carriers.
You will always receive instantly push notifications.
● Why were my notifications delayed in the first place?
Apps using Google's push service (Hangouts, Gmail, Facebook Messenger, e.g.) connect your phone to Google’s servers via one TCP connection (on port 5228).
To keep this connection alive, Android uses a periodic heartbeat to prevent the connection from timing out. By default, this heartbeat occurs every 15 minutes on wifi and every 28 minutes on a mobile data connection.
This is problematic because most Wi-Fi routers and mobile carriers will automatically terminate this connection after a short time of inactivity.
Because your phone is not aware that this connection was externally closed, you will not receive push notifications until this connection is reestablished when the next heartbeat is sent.
● How does PNF solve this problem?
Every x minutes it invoke an android activity that will send an heartbeat network packet on the push connection. Sending an heartbeat every 5 minutes should be enough to always keep the connection alive and all your push notifications will be instantly.
The battery should not be much impacted over a day.

FAQ
Q: Does this app drain battery in background? Does lowering the heartbeat interval too much cause more battery drain?
A: It should have not a big impact on the battery during your daily use. I recommend hearbeat set to 5 minutes, it should be enough to make you receive instantly notifications.
Q: What does mean "set the heartbeat to x minutes" ?
A: It means only that android will send a network packet over the push connection every x minutes instead of the default 15/28 minutes to keep alive that connection. It does NOT mean that you receive push notification every x minutes. Notifications are instantly if the push connection is alive.
Q: Why Whatsapp messages are still delayed sometimes?
A: Whatsapp, and some others apps, don't completely rely on google push service (GCM). Those apps start their own connection when you open the application, and the messages come through this connection. The heartbeat is sent by android only on the push connection on the port 5228, and so it only keep-alive that particular connection. Blame those apps that doesn't have a keep-alive mechanism for their connection or that doesn't use full push messaging.
A workaround for whatsapp is to swipe it away from the recent apps when your finished a chat session. In this way it's connection is dropped and you will be notified of new messages through google push notifications.

How?
Hi, Im using your application, the root one.
But I'm interested in how this one works.
I recently developed an app that use GCM to send messages between devices.
If you can answer me... How do you send the heartbeat through an Activity? This can help a lot of people since Google don't do anything.
Thank you

Basically to trigger an heartbeat you only need those 2 lines (those are undocumented, I it discovered by decompiling GSF):
Code:
context.sendBroadcast(new Intent("com.google.android.intent.action.GTALK_HEARTBEAT"));
context.sendBroadcast(new Intent("com.google.android.intent.action.MCS_HEARTBEAT"));
where context is the application context.
Those intents will be "catched" by GoogleServicesFramework (GSF) that will physically send the heartbeat packet to the google servers. If an aswer come back instantly the push connection is alive, otherwise if in 60 seconds there is no answer back, GSF will initiate a new push connection without to wait the next heartbeat.
The first intent is for Ice Cream Sandwhich and below "I think", while the second one is used in new android versions, should depend from the GSF version installed..But you can safety fire both, since one of the two won't just do anything.
Not sure if it is a good practice to place it inside an application, since if every developer will do that the battery will be killed. Maybe you can invoke that only in some situations.

Depends from your phone I think, just launch the recent apps list and remove / swype whatsapp from there..
On the Nexus phones there is a dedicated on screen button to open the recent app list, on some Samsung phone I think you can long press the home button.

Hi, I'am using the same method in my product.
Can we reach an agreement how to reduce the frequency of these intent calls?
I have no idea to realize any heartbeat timeout settings in my app (hard policy).
I can't listen for these intents cause it requires com.google.android.c2dm.permission.SEND permission that can't be acquired.
For example, can you send some additional broadcast intent (w/o permissions) when fire heartbeat?
I'll listen for it and reset own alarms to not to do the same action.

I have to check, there is an other intent directly fired by android which indicate that an heartbeat has been sent, you can listen that intent I think
I don't remember it right now what, I will check tomorrow maybe and will let you know

@dd00_xda
It seems there isn't an android system intent that you can listen to check if an heartbeat has been sent.
About your request to send some broadcast intent in my app, what will be the advantage for you? I mean, if you already need my app installed, then you don't need at all your own alarm..My app by default send and heartbeat every 5 minutes for example (the alarm will start every time a connection is made) and in that way the push connection is already alive..and every notification you app need to listen, it will always being received
Thanks very much for creating this app! I have a question about it.
I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2. Push notifications worked fine over Wi-Fi when I was at home.
I have now switched to a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4. I'm still using the same router at home, but I'm getting an issue with notifications being delayed. Sometimes I will not get any notifications for a while, then a bunch will turn up at once from different apps.
Does the issue I've described sound like it's related to the problem that this app is designed to fix? If so, how come everything worked fine with my S3 with the same router?
Many thanks!

Do you have any recommendations of how I could troubleshoot this issue? I really don't know what the cause is - I just know it happens, and if it was a widespread issue with the Nexus 5 then a lot more people would be talking about this issue. I've only seen a handful of folks mentioning it.
Thanks again.

if the phone disconnect from the wifi while the screen is off (happen also with only some routers sometimes), you usually should see the phone reconnect as soon as you wake the screen..if you pull down the notification bar and open the toggle switch, you should see the wifi icon orange (no connection to google server) and in few seconds become white again (connected).

Thanks again.
I don't believe the Wi-Fi is disconnecting. I can ping the device when the screen has been off for ages and notifications do come in when the screen is off - they're just delayed and sometimes I don't get a notification at all, yet I'll get an email notification on my PC.

[APP][TEQTIC][4.1+] LeanDroid - ? Most advanced battery saver

Introducing LeanDroid:
LeanDroid is a lightweight and incredibly powerful battery saver. It automatically manages the power-hungry radios on your device while the screen is off to significantly lengthen battery life.
Get the most out of your device with the most advanced and efficient battery saver! The no-frills battery saver that actually works!
Features:
-Automatically disables Wi-Fi
-Automatically disables cellular data (root only on Lollipop+)
-Automatically disables cellular radio (root only on Lollipop+)
-Automatically disables Bluetooth
-Automatically disables network location (KitKat+, root only on Lollipop+)
-Automatically disables GPS location (KitKat+, root only on Lollipop+)
-Automatically switches cellular network mode (Lollipop+ and with root)
-Periodically restores connections for sync
-Schedule when LD should be active with the time exception
-Set exceptions for when certain apps are running
-Set exceptions by Wi-Fi name
-Set exceptions by Bluetooth device
-Set exceptions by data transfer speed
-Many more options
-No ads
It can disable WiFi, Cellular Data (2G, 3G, LTE)*, Cellular radio*, Bluetooth, and Location* (networks and GPS) after a certain time with the screen off to conserve battery power and lower data usage. Connections are restored when the screen is turned back on or unlocked, as well as periodically, to allow for notifications to come in. LD will only re-enable connections that it disabled, not all of the selected connections. There are many additional options to set to your preference.
If you have an issue, please email [email protected], or use the contact menu option from the app before leaving a negative review!
Some options explained:
Disable Wi-Fi/Data/Network mode except if active - Connections are only disabled if there is negligible data transfer while the screen is off. Some music services don't "stream" but instead download entire songs at once, and they might do this while the screen is still on. Please set the disable time interval to at least the length of your average song so LD can catch data activity while the screen is off or use the except if "Except if apps running" option.
Disable Wi-Fi except if browser has web login - WiFi is not disabled if it requires a browser login (common for public hotspots or guest networks), so that you do not have to re-enter the password when it is re-enabled.
Disable Wi-Fi except if requires browser login - WiFi is not disabled if it requires a browser login (common for public hotspots or guest networks), so that you do not have to re-enter the password when it is re-enabled.
Disable except if apps running - No connections are disabled if one of the selected apps is found to be running in the foreground or has foreground services. There is a sub-option to also detect background services of the apps.
Restore Data after waiting xx seconds for Wi-Fi to connect - Wait for WiFi to connect before re-enabling cellular data. This prevents data from re-connecting for just a couple of seconds.
Tasker intents
com.teqtic.leandata.INTENT_START_SERVICE
com.teqtic.leandata.INTENT_STOP_SERVICE
* Note:
-Not all options are available on all devices.
-If you are on Android 4.4.1 - 4.4.2, a persistent notification is required due to a bug in KitKat where services cannot restart themselves once killed by the system. If you would like to hide the notification, find LeanDroid in Settings -> Apps, and un-check "show notifications".

Nice work. It works as it is supposed to. Is there any way i can check using terminal(or anything else) how long the radios are turned off or on?

You mean so that you can tell how long they were turned off for? Good question, there's gotta be some app that can pull up those statistics. For WiFi, you can check your battery usage chart.
Thanks for the feedback, rate it on Google Play if you get a chance. Bugs, suggestions and feature requests are welcome!

Suggestions:
1. When im playing few multiplayer games like Heroes of Order and Chaos etc, i usually tend to leave my phone aside for one or two min, so with my current setup where the radios are turned off after one min, the internet might get disconnected hence me loosing the game. So if there is a feature which can check if there is data transfer then dont turn off the radios. Same goes with me downloading some files and the radios might turn off causing the download to fail. - I guess it is answered in the description, my mistake
2. Where it says turn on radios to sync/receive after a specific time period, is thee way to only switch on the 2g network to save more juice?
Questions:
1. When the radios are turned on after the specific time period to sync, do all the radios get turned on?
2. Does it already check if there is data transfer and then turn off the radios ?
Edit: Rated the app on Play Store

Suggestion responses:
1. While the screen is on, the connections are never turned off. The time "after" is time after screen off (explained in help dialog or on Play Store).
2) No, there is currently no option to do that. I wouldn't recommend it either. 2G/Edge is so slow it wouldn't even be able to connect and do anything in the brief time it has to sync.
Question responses:
1. Nope, only the connections that were turned off by the app. I will update the app description to make this more clear.
2. Yes I believe right now it is set to a threshold of about 2kB/s. If within the period that it checks, the data transfer is more than this, it will not disable WiFi/data.

One request, can we have an option to not turn off the radios if connected to charger?
can you add an option for tethering?

Thats strange, i noticed yesterday when my phone was connected to the charger it turned off radios. Maybe something to do with my new ROM that i flashed. Will check it today in the night. Thanks for your response
Yes, but LeandData stop traffic also if tethering is on. In this case every time you have to switch on 3g again and reconnect your notebook.

Yes, please check for me as this could potentially be a bug. What did it turn off? It should not turn anything off if the device is charging. Also, if you connect a charger after the app has already turned off connections, it should turn them back on. Please ensure you haven't left any other similar apps running. The WiFi turning off with the screen off could also be a system option.
If you do indeed find a problem please let me know what Android version you are running. You can also check the Logcat if you filter for LeanData. Tell me what you see around the time of the problem.

I see. How are you tethering? USB or Bluetooth? If you are tethering through USB the device should be considered charging in which case it should not turn off the connections anyway. I will look into Bluetooth tethering.
Thanks for the feedback.

As expected, i cleaned up everything on my device and flashed a new build. Installed LeanData and used the same settings, all working fine. Radios get turned on when plugged into the charger. Thanks for your time, quick response and efforts
To be honest, i have used many similar apps and never got this almost perfect feeling for any app
Wish i could donate, but running on low budget due to my job. Will donate once things settle down at my end.

Awesome, keep an eye on it. Thanks for the kind words!
MIUI rom have a application to monitor intenet connect of all application. it's great and I cannot find other app can do like this on Playstore. Bcs many app ask permission connect network althought they are no need to run. But I guest they need permission connect network to sending some information silently.
Different from Sony Stamina mode?
Hi.
I have an xperia device and i would like to know if this app is different from sony's stamina mode, which also switches off connections in idle mode.
Thanks.
GPS might also be a worthy addition!
Only the paid version of dsbatterysaver includes GPS. Right now, I have tasker turn it on and off with the screen when unplugged but that means no syncing of location using GPS.

[APP] - WiFi Checker

A simple app to check whether your WIFI is connected or not. It then disables your WIFI when no connection is found (i.e. keeping your WIFI from hogging battery when not in use).
Also turn your WIFI "ON" once then turn it "OFF" later without the check intervals. Check FAQ for the explanation.
*NOTE - Check FAQ below or In App if you have any issues*
*Built-in FEATURES*
- Set how long it takes to check
- Set when to check
- Set the minimum signal strength required to connect
- Show surrounding AP info while scanning in the background & AP info when connected
- Disable WIFI when no internet connection is found
- Do a manual check
- Other minor features
Download it from XDA Labs - https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/wifi.checker.rf
Android Support - 4.0+
Optional Donation
Donate HERE if you feel like it
Feedback is much appreciated, whether it's bugs you experience or would like to see a new feature.
FAQ
1) "I want to automate my WIFI Connection, but without the checking intervals" - Easy, just set the time you want your WIFI to turn "ON" & "OFF" using the "Time to check:", then disable the check interval & lastly disable the "Notifications" in the "Notification Config" tab.
2) "I'm getting unreliable checks when the screen is off" - There is no built-in way around battery saving features/apps, so you'll need to whitelist the app in Battery Optimization/Greenify/Doze or any other battery saving app (it will not drain your battery, promise!)
3) "Even though i whitelisted the app i get unreliable checks (using a Sony Device with Stamina Mode Enabled)" - I do not have a workaround other than whitelisting, it is difficult to build support when i do not have a Sony Device to test on.
4) "WIFI turned off even if an Internet Connection is available" - Try disabling the ability to check for an Internet Connection under Extra Config tab.
5) "Please publish on Google Play" - I will publish on Google Play as soon as i have the available funds for a Developer Registration Fee.
6) "Do i need a Rooted Device" - No, Root is NOT needed
Changelog (v3.6)
* Improved WIFI switch when time ends
* WIFI now switched on when check time starts, instead of starting from an "Off" state
* Fixed incorrect variable shown on check titles
* Fixed boot check to run only when necessary
* Other minor bugs squashed and code improvements

I am not sure, will download them and have a look.
But in short, the app uses your saved WIFI networks (it does not connect to any open Access Point/Hotspot automatically). You specify when it should check, then it checks if there are any saved Hotspots in range and connects to it for you automatically (if there are no saved Hotspots in range, it automatically disables your WIFI until the next check).
Every time it checks it also saves a list of Hotspots picked up with their security, signal strength, mac address etc. (different details are also shown when connected to a hotspot for example: ip address, speed of connection, etc.)
This app is actually designed for an automated WIFI connection.
Is it a known bug that this app does not work reliably when the screen is turned off?
Thanks in advance

It is a known bug, because i have not found a way around other Battery Saving features yet.
[EDIT]OP has been updated[/EDIT]
You'll see in the OP i said that you should add "WiFi Checker" as an exception (whitelist) in any battery saving app that you may have installed. That includes Android's built-in Battery Optimization / Doze Mode. Also if you have a Sony Device with Stamina Mode enabled, you will have problems if the app is not whitelisted.
Let me know if the issue persists then i'll look into it for you.

I will publish on Google Play as soon as i have the available funds for a Developer Registration Fee. Currency is very weak in the country now, therefore i can't spare the fee at this stage.
In the meantime: Any person that doesn't have the XDA Labs app installed, i've added a link in the OP to the app on the XDA Labs website. :good:
I will leave a message here as soon as it's on Google Play.
Would it be possible to implement something like: when the user turns off wifi manually, so the service of your apps stops and continues only when wifi is turned on by the user again.
I'm asking, because sometimes I have a bad wifi signal at my grandparents house and have to switch to mobile network so I can receive my notifications punctually instead of a 15 minutes delay. When I switch off my WiFi, your app re-activates my WiFi after some time for a scan (that's actually the purpose of your app haha) and the problem I've already said occurs.
Could you look into that?
Thanks in advance
