[Q]Swipe down from top to exit full screen - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yes phone, I know how to exit full screen, you've already told me 50 friggin times today.
Is there any way to permanently disable this message? It's getting REAL annoying.

Bump.
Anyone? It's driving me nuts.

Bueller?

What are you talking about exactly?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Is this appearing each time you run the same apps? Its supposed to only appear the first time you run a new app in immersive mode. Sounds like a bug or something.

It's definitely appearing more than once per app, but not every time. It seems to have a mind of its own. I'm using expanded desktop in gravitybox so my phone thinks it's in immersive mode for every app.

Yup. Having the same problem...

same problem here, on 4.4.2 update, it seems to appear only using widgetlocker

Snap - I have the same problem, also with (the otherwise excellent in every way) Gravity Box xposed framework module.
Am loath to lose all the Pie goodness etc, so am putting up with these incessant "swipe down..." nags for now, but it's a real fly in the ointment
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Same here, 4.4.2, Xposed, GravityBox, Extended Desktop mode hiding status bar only.

same problem in widget locker
anyone find a solution?

I'm getting this message with 'Display Notifications' on lock screen. Like 25 times per day. Drives me crazy every time I see it.
Anyone found a solution yet?
Nexus 5/ 4.4.2
Thanks.

Try xposed framework with gravity box

That's the issue. Stop doing that.
Or wait until they update it so that it doesn't display the message all the time. It's not an issue with the phone, it's an issue with gravitybox.

Well, it was because the phone kept thinking it was in immersive mode. But yes, ultimately it was a GravityBox issue. But it is gone now, haven't seen that message since the last time I updated GravityBox.

I am also getting constant "how-to" tutorial BS, apparently from widgetlocker. Sorry to noob out, but I am using WL w/ no root, and no xposed/xblast as far as I know (I have no idea what that is, tbh). Anyone else in that camp, or is xposed/blast what most people are dealing with?

Any Quick Toggles Mods Yet?

I have always liked the pull-down quick toggles like Samsung and LG feature on their 'skinned' phones. Is there anything available like that for our phone that DOESN'T involve installing a new ROM?
Thanks.

Not that I am aware of as I am using that mod. It just lets you manipulate the toggle panels. Doesn't offer any 'quick toggles' addition to the notification tray.
Ah ok. There are various play store apps to give "notification power widgets" as we used to call it in the HTC desire days

Yes, for some reason it wants to force us to keep a notification icon while we have it enabled AND it's not very intuitive as far as adding/removing toggles. If it weren't for that.....

Still don't like the 'ongoing notification' thing. You either have an icon there, or a blank space. I'll see if I can get used to it until something better comes along.

You are right about the first part - the notification icon. Because I have a battery icon on the left side of the notification area anyway, I guess it doesn't make a difference to me (since I can have the power toggles icon show the battery level instead).
Adding/removing toggles is fairly easy though - just open the power toggles app, and customize away.
But in the end, what matters is what works for you, and if power toggles doesn't work for you, it doesn't

You can change the notification position to not pinned and no icon. under customize.
Cataclysm got closed because it was just getting non stop replies asking where the dev was, because he basically adds his editions to stock rom and leaves it at that. It even states an update will come when Google release a new version to go off. Some people just want to flash a rom every 3 hours tho or they're not happy

You could always try a launcher like Nova. I use semi-immersive mode to hide the nav and the launcher settings to hide the status bar when I want it hidden.

I noticed the same thing and I never found a solution. I suspect it has something to do with motos non-stock ROM. More specifically the modified notification bar? They've been real accommodating to us X'rs over there at gravitybox.
I ended up using app settings and setting each individual app to immersive mode. It sucked & took forever to do. But at least I'm full screen now with pie. I lowered the dpi on some things as well. High res full screen goodness!

I can still call down the notification bar with a down swipe anytime I want.
Whenever I install new apps I gotta go in and set them to immersive mode. :\ It's a double edged sword because it gives you full control, but it also is a lot of work setting up each individual app.
I also tried the immerse me mod but it did weird things with Nova Launcher & something else I can't remember so I uninstalled it.

It depends on the app, but most of them are set to either 190 or 200. A few are 210, and others, like Active Display are the stock 320(It goes weird when set to non-stock DPI).
Works for me, worth the purchase
When I upgraded to 4.4.2 and found out I couldn't root again without a bootloader hack, I downloaded this and gave it a shot. It's worked flawlessly for all apps. I just set it to auto start for the apps I want immersive mode on but you can just turn it on and leave it. Doubt it will work with anything Pie related though because it's true immersive mode.

Persistent Google Search Bar

Just thought I'd share my findings, I disabled the persistent Google search bar a few days ago as thought it was too obtrusive, however after finding out the Z3 allows the 'always listening' to work on home screen I wanted it back.

I now wish I didn't bother, the only reason I wanted the search bar back was for the "Ok Google" which can work from any screen now, however as I found out it causes a bug with the camera app, you get an error message stating the video camera cannot be used as it is being used in another app.
Now I just don't know if I should get rid of the search bar again or not incase Sony provide an update.

Samsung's New Notification/Lockscreen App

Hey all.. I don't think I've seen a post about this so I thought I'd be the first to give you all a heads-up on Samsung's new lock app called Good Lock. It's a fairly new app and I'm sure they'll make improvements. It pretty much changes your lockscreen, notifications tray, and recent tabs. Let me know what you think of the app.
**Apparently some rooted users are having various problems (constant reboot and randomly uninstalls itself), so keep that in mind...
You can download this in the Galaxy App store

I downloaded this today, and so far I like it! I wasn't sure at first, but the more that I use it, the more I enjoy it.
I like the new notifications menu. Looks a lot like stock Android. Wish u could use a custom lockscreen wallpaper, but besides that, it's pretty cool! I'm surprised that Samsung created something like this.
To answer your question, I'm pretty sure that those icons are from a previous theme. I haven't found any icon customization with this app
I tried the app, but it uninstalled itself after a bit playing around with it. It looked better than the stock lock screen and notification area (although I don't like the colours) and I'd like to keep the app. Is there a way to prevent that the app is automatically uninstalled?
In Nova Launcher pulling notification bar down is not flawless if you use gesture...
Just a warning that it doesn't work with rooted devices. I made the mistake of installing it on my rooted S7 and it caused constant reboots.
I've also uninstalled in for ithe time being because it didn't work with my Samsung led case. it kept asking for location. I've never had the uninstall problem or reboot problem. you can change the lockscreen by going to Samsung settings. I really hope they polish the app a bit more.
Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
So far, I'm liking Good Lock. just a couple weird things. Looks like you no longer can customize the quicksettings tiles, and the recent apps switcher is much better, but if you use the button to bring it up and dismiss it (also using the button) then it goes to the Home App instead of the app I was in.

Are you rooted? If not, that explains why the reboot issue would never have happen for you.
Downloading now.
I tried it and uninstalled within minutes. The recent apps is horrible - separate chrome tabs are now nameless icons making it useless to find the tab you wanted, and I like having a preview of the open apps. Also, as mentioned, the MM notification draw pulldown bug in Nova is present, which drives me insane. And no lockscreen wallpaper choices, no thanks. The only reason I'd want to use it is the more stock android look, and that you can finally double tap a notification on the lockscreen to open it, which should be a thing on the current lockscreen anyway.

Well it's normal to some effect not to be able to use some themes etc. As those themes haven't been updated for EMUI 10 yet. Perhaps check play store for updates .
What's important is reboots , crashes , lagg, battery times . How are they? I guess you'll need at least 24 hours to assess.

First thing I noticed right out of the bat.
They have unfortunately increased the brightness of the status bar icons. Not good for screen burn. One negative already from the get go.
Also the shoddy Beta app won't let me send feedback.

Does anyone know why I now have two icons labeled as My Services?
One launches sim toolkit and the other some dodgy UK premium rate services.

Still the same bugs as before. When using app icon badges instead of dots, some notification badges persist, and some apps don't get any badges whatsoever with a number within them. Work around as per Pie was to use notification dots. Same as before.
When looking at my power consumption details, mobile network. I'm seeing a lot of blank spaces in there, indicating random lost mobile network connections, even though bars are full. Never occurred before on Pie at my place of home. Status bar icons are brighter than before, which I dislike due to increased wear on the OLED panel.
AOD is still the same usual waste of space as it was in Pie and no tap to wake screen either. Was hoping for notification sounds to be independently adjustable but that also didn't materialize. So if you're on a call and get a notification , it beeps in your ear drum, unless you go globally silent mode that is. In which case you don't get any sounds.
Huawei could/should have used this opportunity to add more features and correct existing issues to EMUI but they chose not to again.

Can not find how to switch on notifications on AOD - no notifications for me, only battery is shown. Any suggestions?
Update: found it - notifications on locked screen should be allowed and smart notifications off too

I'm still on 9.1.0.120 and rooted. Is anyone rooted on this 10 beta?
Going back to EMUI 9, this beta is rubbish.

I like EMUI 10: smooth, quite stable, no major problems. Of course some small problem like noti badges, data usage noti sometimes disappear ...
Improvement: smoothness, animation, OneUI inspired UI ( bettet for one hand ), dpi changeable, better performance/responsitiveness
Need to do better: AOD, notifications ... and some more things

I have Russian interface and direct translation is Smart notifications, that is very strange because there is nothing smart in it. It is in Settings\Applications\Applications\any application\Notifications - second from above

The call recorder icon was present but I didn't test it to see if it worked on beta emui 10. Sorry, rolled back to 9.1

Everything will be wiped. Rolling back is easy by using hisuit to rollback.

the issues and bugs you are facing, is it with or without wiping\factory resetting after the update?
