Not really used the phone a lot today at work. But the first thing i saw was the white icons on Google apps (Gmail, Chrome) and system apps like camera, gallery. The theme i used doesn't work anymore, no EMUI 10 support.

Well it's normal to some effect not to be able to use some themes etc. As those themes haven't been updated for EMUI 10 yet. Perhaps check play store for updates .
What's important is reboots , crashes , lagg, battery times . How are they? I guess you'll need at least 24 hours to assess.

First thing I noticed right out of the bat.
They have unfortunately increased the brightness of the status bar icons. Not good for screen burn. One negative already from the get go.
Also the shoddy Beta app won't let me send feedback.

Does anyone know why I now have two icons labeled as My Services?
One launches sim toolkit and the other some dodgy UK premium rate services.

Still the same bugs as before. When using app icon badges instead of dots, some notification badges persist, and some apps don't get any badges whatsoever with a number within them. Work around as per Pie was to use notification dots. Same as before.
When looking at my power consumption details, mobile network. I'm seeing a lot of blank spaces in there, indicating random lost mobile network connections, even though bars are full. Never occurred before on Pie at my place of home. Status bar icons are brighter than before, which I dislike due to increased wear on the OLED panel.
AOD is still the same usual waste of space as it was in Pie and no tap to wake screen either. Was hoping for notification sounds to be independently adjustable but that also didn't materialize. So if you're on a call and get a notification , it beeps in your ear drum, unless you go globally silent mode that is. In which case you don't get any sounds.
Huawei could/should have used this opportunity to add more features and correct existing issues to EMUI but they chose not to again.

Can not find how to switch on notifications on AOD - no notifications for me, only battery is shown. Any suggestions?
Update: found it - notifications on locked screen should be allowed and smart notifications off too

I like EMUI 10: smooth, quite stable, no major problems. Of course some small problem like noti badges, data usage noti sometimes disappear ...
Improvement: smoothness, animation, OneUI inspired UI ( bettet for one hand ), dpi changeable, better performance/responsitiveness
Need to do better: AOD, notifications ... and some more things

Well, it was because the phone kept thinking it was in immersive mode. But yes, ultimately it was a GravityBox issue. But it is gone now, haven't seen that message since the last time I updated GravityBox.

Samsung's New Notification/Lockscreen App

Hey all.. I don't think I've seen a post about this so I thought I'd be the first to give you all a heads-up on Samsung's new lock app called Good Lock. It's a fairly new app and I'm sure they'll make improvements. It pretty much changes your lockscreen, notifications tray, and recent tabs. Let me know what you think of the app.
**Apparently some rooted users are having various problems (constant reboot and randomly uninstalls itself), so keep that in mind...
You can download this in the Galaxy App store

I downloaded this today, and so far I like it! I wasn't sure at first, but the more that I use it, the more I enjoy it.
I like the new notifications menu. Looks a lot like stock Android. Wish u could use a custom lockscreen wallpaper, but besides that, it's pretty cool! I'm surprised that Samsung created something like this.
To answer your question, I'm pretty sure that those icons are from a previous theme. I haven't found any icon customization with this app
I tried the app, but it uninstalled itself after a bit playing around with it. It looked better than the stock lock screen and notification area (although I don't like the colours) and I'd like to keep the app. Is there a way to prevent that the app is automatically uninstalled?
In Nova Launcher pulling notification bar down is not flawless if you use gesture...
Just a warning that it doesn't work with rooted devices. I made the mistake of installing it on my rooted S7 and it caused constant reboots.
I've also uninstalled in for ithe time being because it didn't work with my Samsung led case. it kept asking for location. I've never had the uninstall problem or reboot problem. you can change the lockscreen by going to Samsung settings. I really hope they polish the app a bit more.
Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
So far, I'm liking Good Lock. just a couple weird things. Looks like you no longer can customize the quicksettings tiles, and the recent apps switcher is much better, but if you use the button to bring it up and dismiss it (also using the button) then it goes to the Home App instead of the app I was in.

Are you rooted? If not, that explains why the reboot issue would never have happen for you.
Downloading now.
I tried it and uninstalled within minutes. The recent apps is horrible - separate chrome tabs are now nameless icons making it useless to find the tab you wanted, and I like having a preview of the open apps. Also, as mentioned, the MM notification draw pulldown bug in Nova is present, which drives me insane. And no lockscreen wallpaper choices, no thanks. The only reason I'd want to use it is the more stock android look, and that you can finally double tap a notification on the lockscreen to open it, which should be a thing on the current lockscreen anyway.

Good Lock App Alternative TW UI 6.0.1

This thread has already been started in the general section but this seemed like a more appropriate place for it.
Samsung released an alternative UI for Touchwiz 6.0.1 that is available on the Galaxy Store for the Galaxy S7. I, however, have been using this for some time now on the N910P.
All you have to do is download the APK and install as normal. Your device will say that it needs to reboot. Once rebooted the new UI will be in place.
For any modifications merely swipe the notification bar down twice and you will see a second settings button. From there you can modify the theme and lockscreen or uninstall.
This new UI seems to change the lockscreen, recent menu and the notification pull down. See screenshots below.
Note: To set lockscreen picture, do so from your normal settings menu.
Note: Fingerprint lock on the lockscreen has not been working but I have not tested it on the update.
Download

Another Note: I did not create this, I merely downloaded, installed and then shared with you guys. I believe Samsung created it...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing but when I tried it was taking too much time so I just went with what was easiest lol.
I just reverted to stock and updated OTA to PD1 and rooted. Once I get everything set up I will post some performance stats with and without Good Lock. Thanks for the suggestion.

So why the error message said that it's not compatible with my device.
And after I installed it and reboot my device I couldn't see any icons, also when I tried to go to settings the screen went black.
I think not only fingerprint lock issue, also I am using nova launcher not TouchWiz.
So If any developer could port this app it will be better.

Use the whitelist app posted in this forum. It's on Google Play.
I have no idea what the Essential app did other than whitelist Nova.
It didn't seem to do anything for me. I turned off whitelisting from the app and Nova reverted to old behavior. Maybe it's just whitelisting and if you already had that setup it doesn't do anything else.

Yeah, interesting indeed. I hope this will be fixed in a future update.
I already had the whitelist editor installed and Nova was selected. Even after the update, when I deselect nova on the whitelist editor, it's no longer full scene. Not sure if the whitelist editor overrides the company's update... either way I rather use the whitelist editor than wait on Essential to update their whitelist. Lol
Seeing the same thing on mine. Luckily the whitelist editor works so well it's not really an issue.

Moving status bar icons

I've a question about the interface. Unfortunately, I purchased after the bootloader unlock website was shut down, so installing a custom ROM, mod, or anything else that requires root will not be possible. I understand this may mean I'm SOL, but I want to make sure before giving up.
I've tried installing a couple different themes to no avail. I'm not sure if there's a setting I'm missing, or if this simply isn't possible, but any advice would be welcome regardless.
I'm specifically looking for two things:
Move the mobile/wifi signal icons to the right, next to the battery/clock
Remove the NFC icon without disabling NFC

Here is a screenshot to give an idea what I want to do:

Which model is yours? BKL-L04 USA variant, has Android 8.1 and the signal icons are in the left side of the status bar
Looks like I'm using the BKL-L04 on Android 8.1

Delete the screen shot, IMEI numbers are visible.
And yes, all Honor/Huawei Android 8.1 screenshots I've seen icons are in left side

Thanks - I tried to remove on Tapatalk, and it didn't work. Had to log into web to remove.
That looks similar to Honor 10... Does it behave as if phone had a notch?
NFC icon can be hidden. I think I did that using SystemUI Tuner. You have to grant this app some permissions using ADB (see description on store) and then go to app - Status Bar - Auto Detect... Disable what you want. Some of the options don't work but NFC does. You might need to reboot.
Any solution yet?

There's not solution for that, in EMUI 9 the signal icons are in the left side of the status bar

Uhm weird.. I didn't modify anything, interface is still stock. I only changed the font but look at my screenshot, the icons are in the good position. So I really don't know what is going on with your phone.
Wich variant do you have?

The interface looks very clean. Love the small icons. What dpi are you on? Did that from developer mode?
