Just thought I'd share my findings, I disabled the persistent Google search bar a few days ago as thought it was too obtrusive, however after finding out the Z3 allows the 'always listening' to work on home screen I wanted it back.
When I removed it originally this message came up

Thanks, for that. I also cleared away the search bar and forgot how to get it back. Now I know that I will have to reset up my app draw and all its folders I'm not so sure I want it back.

I now wish I didn't bother, the only reason I wanted the search bar back was for the "Ok Google" which can work from any screen now, however as I found out it causes a bug with the camera app, you get an error message stating the video camera cannot be used as it is being used in another app.
Now I just don't know if I should get rid of the search bar again or not incase Sony provide an update.

Even if you remove the search bar from the desktop, that space occupied by the Search Bar are being blocked.
Hope there will be solution to remove that empty blocked space in future.
Can somebody please explain to me how to get it back? I don't quite get how. If I stop the Xperia Home App process it's not doing anything. Please help. Thanks.

Cheers dude. Was thinking about removing it, but I've just spent ages sorting my home page and stuff.
Not worth the bother removing if I'd lose all the settings to get it back.

I think i've figured out a workaround - download the google now launcher, it adds the persistent search bar, ok google works from any screen, plus no more error for camera - however this doesn't from from lock screen without it having the camera error.
try and let me know if you get the same result i do.

Hi,
Has anyone been using this app on the Nexus S?
I only came across it after I saw the multiple icons on the lockscreen on one of the advertised themes.
Reviews on other sites suggest that there is a lag issue and other errors...none of them seem to be on the Nexus S.
Comments please.....
Im after the same answer, I saw it being used on the home screen post and it looked very good.
I want to start doing some customisazion of my own.

Widget Locker is the best lock screen ever..
heres a pic..

You can add up to 10 shortcut keys on the unlock screen. So, top left corner is camera, top right camera is LED flashlight, left middle is notes, right middle is google voice, bottom left is unlock andd buttom right is to silence it.
Oh and you can add widgets on the screen so i added a calendar widget.
I love this app and its really worth the money, being able to access some of these apps right from the screen is real convinient, especially the camera and flash light.
The only issue i've run into is that if you turn it on and off real quick, it will show the stock slide to ulock screen, and sometimes it will go back to the original slide to unlock screen, at this point you would just click on widget locker again to start it up.
Overall great app!
Better yet I'll post a video to give you an idea

That's the one.
Also, it is a known issue that this app will not work along side NoLed.
Heres a vid of the app.
http://s976.photobucket.com/albums/ae249/Garcia650/?action=view¤t=2011-02-01_02-34-24_880.mp4
Also, if you notice in the vid, when I turn it on from sleep mode, it shows the stock slider, thats because turn it off and on within 3-5 seconds, it will show the stock slider.
Cheers for that i'm sold.
Just downloaded it.
Awesome!
Thanks a lot. Just downloaded it.

It's a must have app... I made a video about it a while ago. I like my lockscreen with my calendar events and music. Also, if your rooted go to advance and set it to rooted device.
I would recommend widgetlocker. One of my favorite android apps

Widgetlocker is like quickdesk not like extended controls. You can customize your lock screen with widgets, shortcuts, toggles, apps, weather, etc..etc..

Just wanted to let you guys know that my primary phone is a Nexus S. So the coming update is definitely well tested on this phone
Also I've been talking to the dev of NoLED trying to resolve the conflict between the two apps. Not solved yet though.

I had the issue when I was using CM7 nightly ROm with Netarchy 1.2.2 kernel. But I was also having other issues such as the lockscreen spontaneously coming on and off. The lockscreen on/off was happening even when i disabled widget locker . so I dont think it was the app.
Since I flashed another kernel, it seems to have resolved.
Hope that helps.
Alright guys so as many of you know, febycv managed to get Google NOW to work for ICS based ROMs with a few build.prop edtis! That was AWESOME of him to do that for all of us!!
The original thread can be found here
Although that was AWESOME and all, I didn't like doing all those edits and this and that, so I decompiled the apk...edited the androidmanifest sdk and compiled it back up!
It now works the first time, everytime (no edits what so ever)

Getting this...(attached) when trying run from app drawer. When opening via search button I'm getting. "No network detected. Please check network settings" In which there is nothing out of the ordinary. That app attempts to start where I quickly see the Google logo over a mountain. Then I get the network message followed by a white screen with search bar. Clicking on settings then voice is prompting a FC.
Tried wiping dalvik/cache and fixing permissions for sh''s and giggles but not working. Suggestions?

not sure if i'm right on this, but its basically just a search replacement. hit your search button and it should look different. i've got it "working" on remics-ux. things like voice search don't work, but im still pretty excited about it. some of the cards work and it sounds like a pretty cool concept.
i found this in a random thread somewhere and it seems to be working the best of all the ones i've found. jusr flash in recovery. (hopefully it uploaded right. ive never uploaded anything on here before)
edit...not sure if this is any different from the one in the op seeing as how i didn't flash that one. would have tried it, but seeing as how i'm not getting the network error or anything like that, i figured if it's not broke don't fix it

I see that now looking back at it... Didn't realize you made it. Regardless, the link that I posted hasn't been posted on here yet and it looked a lot more informative than the thread you linked to twice... As far as troubleshooting and commands and what not... Or wait until they update it so that it doesn't display the message all the time. It's not an issue with the phone, it's an issue with gravitybox.

I have home helper on, and the message still shows up. I love this phone, but this is slightly annoying.
Everyone knows that feeling when someone asks to use your phone but you're afraid to let them because they can go through everything on it. This is a serious privacy issue within Android; there is no easy way to lend others your phone without them being able to go through it. That's why I created Obstructer, an app for Android that blocks access to your device's content when you let others use your phone. It works by disabling the home button, the recent app screen and the notification bar. This makes everything on your phone inaccessible until you enter a password that opens when the call is ended.

Hello,
I've tried this app on my Xperia Z1 Compact and I have a few security flaws: The recents button is not disabled and when using Google Keyboard, you can long press the spacebar to get into the settings app. Also, you should probably disable the camera button. The lockscreen is a major security flaw too :/ Oh yeah, and I forgot to add that it shows the Sony dialer when calling a number
Regards,
Random
Mostly works as intended.
The main weakness of this app is that one can easily uninstall the app by going to settings from a insecure lockscreen.
A lock widget will be a great idea.

Did you set it as the default launcher? This is the source of the problem most of the time. Also, it has to use the phone's dialer; there's no way that can be changed unfortunately. The lockscreen issue has been brought to my attention and I will create a default lockscreen to solve this problem.

Hello OP, I am a graphic designer and I go about helping others creating new Icons or just making their current ones a bit better.
I took the time to edit your current icon and make it look a bit more detailed. I sure hope you like it if not its fine I do this for fun not a living :fingers-crossed:
Updated Banner:
Updated Icon:
On the new icon I could not fix the way the top two icons look a bit darker than the bottom ones.. I may have to redo this process.
But it sure does look better than before IMO :good:
Also if you need anything else just let me know. I can edit and email it to you whenever.

Eh, I love the new icons you made. The thing is, the "x" was designed to show how the app blocks your access, which is why it looks squared off. Plus I really don't like flat icons. Make the red darker, give it a more 3D look, make a squared "x" and I'll consider it.
home button problems
There is a problem on xperia z1. I can exit app by just pressing "home" button (with "backward" button no problems).
Hello all,
Today a strange icon appeared on my phone named "Feeling Lucky". It looks like the playstore icon wrapped in a present.
I tried searching on google (also the image) to find out what it is but could not find anything.

I recently updated my phone (two days ago I think), but the icon appeared this morning.
Things I found out already:
- There is a Feeling Lucky app in the playstore, but that's not it.
- I can't find an app called Feeling Lucky in the app manager.
- I uninstalled the playstore updates, but no effect.
- It is not in the widget, shortcut list
- It is part of the app list
Anyone an idea?
Thanks,
HugoBass
Seems a little dodgy to me, have you dared to open the app?

No not yet. It's tempting though.

It might be a side effect of another app you installed, can you open the app info and look at the package name? That might give some clues. Also can you uninstall it?
let us know what happened ....

Thanks for the suggestion! I looked at the app info and it appears to me part of the Apex Launcher. After searching for this on Google I found out it is adware. Apparently this is part of the Apex Launcher. So no more Apex for me
Thanks for the help!!

Im using apex and don't have that, might be trying to disguise itself using its package name. Anyway glad to help!
sent from my amazingly awesome OnePlus One with Stereo Mod
Don't forget to hit thanks!
Definitely a part of apex. It's in their changelog for the most recent version.
There does not seem to be a way to disable this "feature" but since I got rid of it, it hasn't come back.

Ahh thanks I didn't update yet that's why I don't have it
Just if anyone wants to know, I ended up just disabling the feelinglucky activity in apex launcher with myAndroidTools and that seems to have fixed it
I saw this this morning too... I dared to open it, then it said loading, and then a toast said "Lucky app not available" ... so sketchy. Hopefully Apex isn't going downhill.
