Heya there!
I am using a Sony Xperia ZL 0603 in Ireland. I am using one of the "piggyback" pre-paid phone providers (tesco mobile) that use the network of another provider (in this case, O2) to provide their service. As a result, I have to enable data roaming to be able to go online with the phone. In the recent Omni Nightlies for 4.4, the option for "National Data roaming" is not present any more, which means I have to enable International Data roaming for it to work.
Additionally, my network indicator always displays the "R", so I have no indication what Network I am currently on (LTE, 3G, 2G e.t.c.)
Would it be possible to add the national data roaming option back in, so I don't run the risk of data roaming charges when I am outside the country? And it'd be good if the network indicator went back to displaying the actual network speed.
Thanks for reading!

The old NDR option will not be returning. It's been implemented more properly by Google:
https://github.com/omnirom/android_frameworks_base/commit/f965bb1cf3790cab9162a30f0f429feb21fbbdfd
https://github.com/omnirom/android_frameworks_base/commit/cf0369442ee891775eb9d8d2618f3d77eb91b8c8
We need the MCC/MNC of your operator, along with those you can confirm you are able to roam on.
Hello and thanks for your answer. I had a quick google and came up with the following info:
Tesco Mobile uses MMC and MNC Values: 272 and 02 - Same as O2 Ireland. However, for the internet access, they use the following: 272 and 11 - which is liffey telecom, a network provider in Ireland that does not seem to have a publicly used network (as in, you can not actually get a phone on their network unless it is though tesco mobile).

OK, so your SIM is 27202, and the network you can roam on is 27211?
If you confirm this, I'll do a yuga testbuild tonight and post it here, if it works for you I'll merge in the fix.

Yep, that is correct. Also, it'd need to be a odin test build, as I have a ZL not a Z. Thanks!

Main thing is I haven't ever built for odin so worry that I'd create a bogus build in general.
I want to talk to the others about being able to do repopicks on experimental builds (similar to what maintainers could do with CM jenkins)
would it be possible to add another one? "Golan T" in Israel.
"Golan T", MCC: 425, MNC: 08
nationally roaming on:
"Cellcom", MCC: 425, MNC: 02
I'm on the Nexus 4. thanks!
I'll look into those.
I got far less done last weekend than I was planning, but at least I can kill two birds with one stone for those who have makos.
I have another request from Austria if you would be so kind .
I'm on YESSS which uses A1 for Mobile Data (confirmed by reading MCC/MNC from the TelephonyManager).
YESSS MCC/MNC: 232/12
A1 MCC/MNC: 232/1

National Roaming for french Operator FREE on Orange Network
good morning,
it will be possible to add the national roaming for the FREE operator 20815 on the Orange Network 20801.

Thank you in advance.
And continue your excellent work. This Rom is one of more successful and stable than I was able to use.

We need to know the MCC/MNC of YOUR carrier, AND we need to know the MCC/MNC of the carriers you can roam on.
So at a minimum, two (your network and one roaming network), but it can be more than two.

Hi.
My nexus 5 is driving me crazy.
All of a sudden it stopped getting 3G or 4G LTEnetwork. It just stayed in 2G (EDGE).
I called the carrier support, they don't know what to do.
This sim works fine in other phones.
Other sims also do not get 3g or 4g network on this phone.
I switched my sim, enbled 4G service and nada.
It seems the phone can't see the 3g or 4g networks.
If i go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and force the network type to LTE and then search for mobile networks it doesn't find any.
Same for WDCMA only.
If i set it to LTE preferred, WCDMA preferred or LTE/GSM auto (PRL) it finds the network and it connects in 2G EDGE.
I've done a full reset, flashed stock, tried several radios, nothing.
Im in Portugal and my carrier is Optimus.
If i go to the "Select radio band" option in that menu it only shows "USA BAND".
Is it suposed to be like that?
Also, when i reboot my phone in the notification area i get a notification saying: "Restricted access changed". I never got that before when the 3g connection was working.

Change it back to "GSM/LTE". Then go to the APN settings and make sure that they're correct. That's the most common fix. I don't know what your carrier is, so I can't tell you the settings, but you can probably find them somewhere.
Worst case, flash the factory image and see if it still happens.

not your country, your provider. it could be that they space out their towers a bit further away than us providers. that would make it not as reliable.

Hi All
I'm having trouble connecting to 4g (band 20) in the UK with my MT7-TL10 european, gold version.
Has anyone else had similar issues, can someone shed some light?
I've spoken to Tesco Mobile and they have confirmed my sim/tariff is setup for 4g. Also called Huawei, and they checked my model via IMEI no. and said it should have a 4g signal with the network I'm on. I tried it with an EE sim and received a 4g signal instantly.
Thanks

Also can you tell me which firmware version your Mate 7 came installed with? Mine is B125 as shown in screenshot above.
Thanks

Well if you bump into anyone with an o2/vodafone sim, try the sim out to see if you get 4g. I'm sure you'd also like to know if your phone supports all the bands it's suppose to...
I'm curious as to whether it is just my Mate 7 or like this with all european MT7-TL10 phones. Where did you buy your phone, if you don't mind me asking?

even if you were ever able to fully unlock a Sprint version handset, it may not support the bands needed to fully run properly on T-Mo's GSM network.
but search to see what bands (frequencies) your handset needs to support, to run on T-Mo's network. then call Sprint's customer support to help you unlock your handset for international use - say you're going to Europe for about a week and that you want to be able to use their SIMs.

which US GSM network are you using it on? i've already had my S6e unlocked a while back. since I also have service on both ATT & T-Mo networks, i have tried using a bunch of known working APNs (from my factory unlocked N5), but I haven't had any luck.
I tried going through the first several pages to see what APNs were used. however, I've seen the user 'iBowToAndroid' mention several times it won't work in the US. did that change towards the end of the thread. still a lot of pages to read through...

thanks. i'll try that when I get a chance.

i'll probably have to try it where there's a stronger T-Mo signal. i'm usually on Edge at home with my other devices.

ok guys there will not be no lte but it can be unlocked but not through the thread my brother my friend @idone will quickly unlock it at a great price also but you will on have 3g but it is still fast if i was helpful click thanks http://idoneapps.com/
If you look in Settings>About Device>Status> it will show the actual data network type you are connected to.
HSPA and HSPA+ will be working, and for T-Mobile if the towers in your area have been upgraded for LTE on 1900mhz LTE will work also.
The phone will just always show a "3G" icon in the StatusBar when in GSM/UMTS mode, it can be changed with a build.prop edit, but then it will always show 4g instead.
But do check here Settings>About Device>Status>
You will get more than 3G

I also am having problems with getting 4G LTE to work on T-Mobile. My sprint S6 edge+ is domestically unlocked for GSM. I'm able to get 3G to work while in GSM/UMTS mode, but will not work in "Automatic". Please help ;(
So per another thread there was a discussion re 5g
A user suggested that they were using a particular APN with the following changes:
It should say MVNO type, and MVNO value.
MVNO TYPE: GID
MVNO Value: 53FF
I can't seem to make any APN changes to my existing NXTGYNPHONE apn nor when I add a new one will it stick
Any one know a workaround??
I added an additional APN and it stuck. My phone is from AT&T.

This is the APN I brought up in the other post the OPnwas referring too. To be able to use this APN you have to be on Unlimited Starter, extra, or Elite plans for consumer. And you have to have have your 5G device IMEI updated in ATTs system(I am an employee and have been fixing issues from improper 5G setup)

Here you go.
Can you share the exact APN settings to use? The link for an image a few posts back is not working for me - I would like to add this APN and then if necessary, contact ATT support about provisioning .....
thanks
Thanks guys for bumping this forward. I live in an area where there's probably no 5G anyway but next week I will be in an area where I know there will be 5G

If I'm not provisioned properly would that be why when I try to add an APN it just disappears?
Ok I found out what makes it disappears
Any changes I try to make it as to the last two entries
Mobile Virtual Network ........
Causes the APN to disappear when I try to save it
I have noticed this behavior with past Android phones when attempting to add an APN that is restricted by the carrier (AT&T)
I.e. I am on a 2G phone attempting to add a 3G APN (wap.cingular to phone)
3G phone attempting to add a 4G APN (phone to nxtgenphone)
4G phone attempting to add a 5G APN (nxtgenphone to enhancedphone)
In all cases, behavior was as described. The system appeared to allow the APN but it would disappear upon entry. Note that if you alter the spelling in any way (try to add enhancedphon for example) the system will allow you.
Appears to be a feature check similar to Mobile Hotspot being disallowed without the proper feature codes in the system.
Update the plan to a 5G capable plan / update the IMEI to a 5G capable device and you'll get access to that APN.
Note that with the current iteration of 5G on AT&T (low band only), LTE-A is performing better in most cases...
So I'm starting to wonder, what was the point buying a 5G phone if we don't have the option to to change from Nextgen phone??

If you are on At&t you may have to call just as previous poster said. They didn't bother to provision correctly when I activated device nor was I on correct plan.

Can you manually change back to the other APN and make it better?
Once I add the Nextgenphone Apn..like you said I can't change the last 2 options. If I try they do not stick. I can go back to that but have to keep GID and 53fff I think it is. Hopefully it was just the person I was talking to. Going to test more today

I called and had to get my account reprovisioned as well. Crazy that I had the S20 for months and my account was never properly 5g provisioned.
So far I noticed no difference in the call quality. I'll keep you updated.
Also attached are my APNs now without even rebooting.
