[Q] Noob upgrading problem - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I have managed to root my samsung galaxy s gt-i9000 and have cwm on it too. Looking good so far!
I copied the zip files to my sd card but when i try to install the zip file i get the message of error in sd card, aborted! Status 7
Trying to install paranoid android 4.3
My phone is firmware 2.2.1 fROYO
Baseband version I9000XXJPY
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build numberFROYO.XWJSD
Any help greatly appreciated especially if in the simplest terms
Tried with a different file and got this
[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard/CM10-v9.4.zip (bad) Installation aborted
Thanks, Tim

At first, try a different SD card. Maybe you can borrow one for some experiments from a friend ? Zip files with OS images tend to be big, they have bigger probability of exposing a hardware card problem, which isn't exposed so frequently when handling smaller files like photos and MP3s.

[Q] Symlink problem when installing DamageRom V3.1.x

Hello everybody,
I am nothing short of new to the world of rooting phones and using new roms and so to no surprise of mine, i am facing an issue when i install DamageRom V3.1.x
I have the latest rooting software for my phone and i have also partitioned my sd card in order to accommodate App2SD.
I was recently using DamageControl V2.x without any major issues but i thought i'd give the new version a try so i wiped everything, including my SD card and when i try to install this new version i get the following error:
Copying files...
E: Can't symlink /system/xbin[
E: Failure at line 12:
Installation aborted
I have searched everywhere i could and so now i come to you guys hoping for someone to show me the way.
So apperently, according to a different forum (can't post the link apparently), the problem occurs because i ran out of space on the system partition
I did try whatever they've advised; however it did not do it for me
Thanks for the help and thank you Damage for your excellent roms, i just wish i were apt to use them properly
Nobody has any ideas?

[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 cannot detect SD card

So today I updated to Cyanogenmod 7 for the very first time but I immediately noticed that if I try and going into the Astro file manager, it says the sd card is unmounted. If I try and go into the gallery or take a picture, it says the sd card is unmounted. How exactly would I go about fixing this?
Do you have an actual sdcard inserted in your phone?
G2X CM7
No I do not. I'm just using the internal one.
CM7 mounts the external sdcard at /sdcard and the internal memory at /mnt/emmc. If you want them mounted like the stock rom does it then you have to change the mount points. There is a flashable zip somewhere here, I think in the development section, that will swap them for you.
The other solution is to just buy a memory card.

Yes that worked. Thanks!

Let's first establish which phone you have. Do you have the HTC Desire or LG G2X? If you have the Desire then you might get better help in that forum. If you DO have a G2X and you flashed a Desire rom to it, then that's your problem.
G2X CM7
I ask that because this is the G2X forum.

[SGT2 7.0 WiFi GT-P3110] Installing Internal to external memory zip file

Hi all,
Sorry I am a noob so please bare with me.
Basically I bought the 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi 8gb GT-P3110' and anybody who has it will know that having an External SD doesnt reall let you do anything because unlike the S3 phones, if you put files, music, photos etc. on your Ext SD you cant then use it through your actual Tab.
Well I cant seem to anyways. Everytime I put a film on there via the file explorer on my PC, once I have unplugged it either dissappears or doesnt work.
Im not completely new to this I have been rooting phones and stuff for quite a while so I have tried everything apart from trying to develop something myself as I have NO CLUE what im doing in that department.
I've followed a few links on here and came across the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881967
First thing I done was change my stock 4.1.1 (I think) for the stock 4.0.4 as the link is for that. I then put the Clockwork Recovery Mod on my but putting it on the external SD ad installing it through the 'Power and UP' combination which worked fine.
I downloaded the file from the link on the thread above and placed it on my Ext SD and followed the instructions to install through Clockwork recovery but it doesnt seem to work for me.
It gives this message:
--Installing: /external_sd/ot.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /external_sd/ot.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Or is there another way to do it?
Any help would be fantastic.
Just to let clarify:
Its a 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi 8gb GT-P3110
Im running a stock 4.0.4 and its rooted.
Cheers guys

Please can someone help me with a custom ROM error

Hi everyone, I downloaded the Fantasy HD rom v11 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341030 and was very excited to start using it. After rooting my samsung s3 I9300 and installing clockworkmod recovery I copied the downloaded zip file to the my SD card, for some reason it would not copy and kept saying "the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected". So i ended up putting my SD card into a card reader and copied it that way and it finally copied onto the card. I loaded up recovery mode, selected install from zip and when I click the rom it says something like installing...(bad) and just stops. Please can someone help me with this I dont understand what is going on. I thought maybe the download was corrupt so I redownloaded the file and still wont copy to the SD card although other files copy to it with no error msg. Any help will be very much appreciated
