[SGT2 7.0 WiFi GT-P3110] Installing Internal to external memory zip file - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Sorry I am a noob so please bare with me.
Basically I bought the 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi 8gb GT-P3110' and anybody who has it will know that having an External SD doesnt reall let you do anything because unlike the S3 phones, if you put files, music, photos etc. on your Ext SD you cant then use it through your actual Tab.
Well I cant seem to anyways. Everytime I put a film on there via the file explorer on my PC, once I have unplugged it either dissappears or doesnt work.
Im not completely new to this I have been rooting phones and stuff for quite a while so I have tried everything apart from trying to develop something myself as I have NO CLUE what im doing in that department.
I've followed a few links on here and came across the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881967
First thing I done was change my stock 4.1.1 (I think) for the stock 4.0.4 as the link is for that. I then put the Clockwork Recovery Mod on my but putting it on the external SD ad installing it through the 'Power and UP' combination which worked fine.
I downloaded the file from the link on the thread above and placed it on my Ext SD and followed the instructions to install through Clockwork recovery but it doesnt seem to work for me.
It gives this message:
--Installing: /external_sd/ot.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /external_sd/ot.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Or is there another way to do it?
Any help would be fantastic.
Just to let clarify:
Its a 'Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi 8gb GT-P3110
Im running a stock 4.0.4 and its rooted.
Cheers guys

[Q] Cannot use samsung recovery to install CWM

Hi,
I have a problem with my P6210. I am trying to install CWM on it (it has root access) but whenever I go into the recovery, it cannot find the sdcard with the cwm zip file. I have put it in multiple places in the system to see if the recovery software can find it but fails.
The photo shows the screen I get every time I try -
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gau2erxviegyqwc/2012-06-22 05.26.54.jpg
Anyone please?
It means you either didn't put the zip in the right place (on the root of the SD) or you have a wonky MicroSD card. Happened to me with an off-brand 8gb. Used another 2gb card I had lying around and works fine.
Thanks a million!
I remember this is how i rooted my tab too. I swapped the sd card from my optimus black to my tab and was able to root it like that. Must have forgotten.
Again thanks a lot.
My pleasure. Just got my GT+ (trying to decide if it can replace my GT10.1) and had fun figuring this one out myself. It's a bummer there's no working ICS for this tab (yet); on the GT10 it was night and day from the best custom 3.2 ROM to the first ICS ROM.

[Q] Help please

OK here is my dilemma I have tried every method for transferring apps to SD and none of them work. I have tried partitioning SD w/Odin and cwm
'I have tried directory bind but when I get to the point to select file I can't find it in directory bind - I have tried the titanium backup method in there help section, tried the ROM manager, tried link to SD and apps of that such,I tried flashing a mod that was sup post to trick my tab into thinking my extsd was my intsd e folder manager and script manager,I have been sorting thru hundreds of forums for about 2 weeks now with no success even following directions to a t or I get to a point they r and its different on mine than theirs. I have even tried 3 different ROMs. I'm kind of a noob at this so I must be doing something wrong. I don't know where else to turn for insufficient storage space andapps to SD fix lucky patch works but only for a short time. I have a galaxy tab 2 7.0 3113 w/32gb micro SD and am running chili mango ROM. Please help thank you in advance.

[Q] Phone broken or still hope?

Hello everydody, I am experiencing some difficulties with my Samsung, model GT-I9003-phone which "dropped off a lorry" somewhere next to my relatives somewhere in Asia. When I goth the device, it was in a non-working condition, except a boot-loop and the download-mode. Back then, I had the package of the phone where the exact version ( I don't know if this is what is called "Baseband" or at least is called baseband at my wife's GT-I5003) was specified. So, back then, I was able to find the exact ROM for the device. Unfortunately, the box with the version number now is - somewhere.
After flashing a stock-rom, I managed to enter recovery-mode where I read something about the internal memory being corrupt. As far as I can recall, I then mounted the external SD-Card and somehow managed to reboot the system back to almost normal operation. Even reboots appeared to work normal, besides the fact I had no memory access, neither to internal nor to external sd. In addition, GPS malfunctioned, too.
Unfortunately, even this state didn't last for long time. After several weeks of now-and-then-use, the system just broke down again into a boot-loop. After some time of flashing a variety of stock roms, I managed to flash clockworkmod recovery which works perfectly well. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to root the phone before it "collapsed" again. Besides the possibility, I'd guess this could be a resaon for CWM being unable to flash a custom rom? Otherwise, I'd just test my way through the varieties of versions .
Basically, I do have two questions: 1. is there a possibility to find out if internal memory has failed - and if yes: How?
2. Is it possible to install any version of CM on that phone in the condition it is in?
Thanks a lot in advance for any answers
Hello everybody, I finally found the box . It reads GT-I9003MKDTHL. Is my assumption right that there are no such things as basebands in the GT-I9003 any more and I should be able to flash pretty much any firmware? Furthermore, today I tried to format what is specified as "sd-card ext" in CWM fir GT-I9003 and it gives me an error-message. When I flash "sd-card", my external sd-card gets formatted. So, I'd presume the internal sd is just fried. I read about a workaround for GT-I 9000, where someone installed Androd on a partitioned external SD. Is there somebody who knows someboy having heard about somthing similar working with the GT-I9903?
One step forward...
Hello everybody, I finally managed to get some light into my issues as I once again figured out how to get a software installed and running . It's this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329200
Thanks a lot to the guy who just posted it somewhere where id could do good...
By the way, I figured out that this software actually includes the Baseband.
As in this version, the original recovery system is running and giving me an error message when I start it without external SD-card, I am now quite sure that the internal memory has just failed as this error message was specified in another posting of someone who had a similar issue with a GT-I9000.
The biiiig "Outch" is, that I am unable to install any CWM Recovery System with that Baseband..This results in me not being able to upgrade the software to ICS, where - as far as I read some troubleshoot-information - will enable me to mount an additional partition on my SD-Card as Data-Partition which isn't possible yet (i.e.: I can't access my SD for storing data or whatever - it's just specified as "not there").
I tried to install the XXKPE-Baseband to be able to go for KPQ which would enable me to install CWM Recovery. I also installed Bagarias CWM-normalboot-image via Heimdall - but I was unable both to boot the OS and to find any trace of a zip-file on the SD-card.
Edit: I managed to install the right CWM - it's mentioned in the post where I've got the firmware from... now, I only have to figure out how to deal with the fact that "officially" there is no SD-card inserted - or, better, that this SD-card is now flagged as "internal SD" - and how that machine can find the zip-file on it
Thanks for every bit of help with that issue
Try Aroma File Manager with Terminal
For SDCard issue you could probably switch them in vold.fstab in /system/etc
Good Luck !!!

No SD Card/Insufficient Memory Error

Hi guys, I installed the kitkat 4.4.2 update a few days ago to try it out (the international patched version from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581548 I installed the file using CWM and also made a back up of my phone.
I then went back to my backup as kitkat was running terrible and I couldn't get in to setting menu plus all the lag.
When I did the restore everything seemed fine but I realise now that I am getting a lot of errors with the file system, I can't take pictures as it says "your internal storage is running out of space, delete some images or other files". If I try and view images on the phone it says "no external storage available" and the other place the error is obvious is when using chrome or any browser it will say "no sd card" and will not allow me to save any files.
I'm unsure whats happened. I'm also getting another error using PDANET the app will connect while the phone is running the OS but when in the bootscreen it simply says "HTC error- 1" which is supposed to be an issue with HTC phones.
If anyone knows anything or can help me get this back to normal please help as i'm completely lost.
Thanks
Ryan
I had the same problem
I had the same problem in exactly the same circumstances, I tried various things and thought I had bricked my G as I had nothing except fastboot and that was a bit flakey
However, the files linked to on this page, http://www.theandroidsoul.com/install-moto-g-uk-generic-firmwarestock-rom/ seem to have brought back my phone and solved the SD problem

I had the same problem and I was freaking out as there was no clear solution on the internet.
Then I did some research, and found the cause to be the partitioning of the SD card. It happens either when you format your internal SD card using the recovery or when flashing ROMs that fail to partition SD properly. The solution is not to format the SD again as this didn't work for me but to fasboot the stock firmware which re partitions the SD card in the correct format.
Hopefully this helped! The links to the stock firmware can be found in the android development section.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Gt-N8000 bricked.

My Galaxy 10.1 tab suddenly doesnot start the android operating system. it just shows samsung logo all times. I had installed Rom-Gnabo_Rom_v8 and installed and there was no problem using the tablet except the viber app was not able to call and receive call. it used to hang while calling or receving any call from viber user. it was fine for me. I used Rom for 3 to 4 months without except that issue.
While, installing i updated bootloader provided in the Rom package Rom-Gnabo_Rom_v8. currently, i am able to access the cwm recovery and download mode. I am unable to apply install any Rom from Odin. It says, Write failed. Further Investigation on cwm showed that, i am unable to factory restore, mount /sdcard and many more. i am not able to apply any update zip file through the external sd card.
As, cwm recovery starts it says, "E : Can't open /cache/recovery/log" . I am unable to do anything on my tablet either apply update from external sd card or odin downlaoder. I am not sure, but my research on the problem seems to be with internal storage. Please help me to provide solution. thank you XDA for being platrom.
