So today I updated to Cyanogenmod 7 for the very first time but I immediately noticed that if I try and going into the Astro file manager, it says the sd card is unmounted. If I try and go into the gallery or take a picture, it says the sd card is unmounted. How exactly would I go about fixing this?
Do you have an actual sdcard inserted in your phone?
G2X CM7
No I do not. I'm just using the internal one.
CM7 mounts the external sdcard at /sdcard and the internal memory at /mnt/emmc. If you want them mounted like the stock rom does it then you have to change the mount points. There is a flashable zip somewhere here, I think in the development section, that will swap them for you.
The other solution is to just buy a memory card.

Yes that worked. Thanks!

Let's first establish which phone you have. Do you have the HTC Desire or LG G2X? If you have the Desire then you might get better help in that forum. If you DO have a G2X and you flashed a Desire rom to it, then that's your problem.
G2X CM7
I ask that because this is the G2X forum.

ok. . total noob move here. just Got evo 4 this year. recently got a knock off z180. atleast I believe it is knock off. while trying to format EXTERNAL sdcard) I accidently hit internal. (First time I saw internal / external. everything has been file structure like a unrooted phone. device and sd card,
someone got an image on there and I am able to do factory reset of it however there are 4+ references to sdcards. so somehow I messed it up really good. which is the proper sdcard folder and what is the best possible image for the below so I can burn it and in the proper place. what ever I did either did something with the booting from sd or i am not too good with the connect mode. LOL
this is bare mimimun 10" tablet . no phone etc no camera etc
Image I currently have is
Model
zt180
Android 2.2
baseband unknown
Kernel version
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #5066
Build zt180-eng OPEM<ASTER eng root. 201106313.120935 test keys.
(I believe there is more than the sdcard in the wrong place as it isn't acting rooted and downloaded free root checker and it told me I lost.
any ideas? or am i totally in wrong thread?
I've tried to install every possibile recovey for xoom , I've always get follow error:
E:Can't mount /cahce/
E:Can't mount /system
E:Can't open /sdcard
....
The only way to have a working recovey is to install it from rom manager, it installs v4.0.0.4 , and works... any help to understand why i get this error and how to fix it?
this way i've to root device to install a recovey .
The CWM Recovery installed by Rom Manager isn't really for the Xoom and doesn't recognize the external micro sdcard. You cannot flash successfully from internal "sdcard" using that recovery version. There's a Tearm Rogue recovery that uses v4.0.0.4, but it is modified and I think you have to flash it via external sdcard which means you need the R4c CWM version 3.2.0.0 developed by solarnz specifically for the Xoom.

I've tried to install 3.2.0.0 developed by solarnz, i get that error, I've looked around my xoom but I can't found out any hole that could host a micro sd? where would it be? is it possible I don't have it ? my xoom is europe, wi-fi,3g,32 gb
I've flashed kernels or restored previous backup, on internal "sdcard", with this recovery(4.0.0.4) and worked well,by the way.
Do you have the original Xoom? If so, then look on the top edge and you will see a rubbery plastic cover that can be lifted right off. don't lose it. Under that cover is the micro sdcard slot. It's to the left, toward the screen. You need the sdcard mounted in the slot in order to flash the recovery file successfully. Be careful not to drop the card into the larger space... it just will click into its little slot but take it easy the first time.
I've found it, is in simcard slot just above it... impossibile to see... now all work well.
thanks a lot.
You're very welcome. I'm glad you got it working.

So mine is doing the same thing with nightly build 36 of EOS. I can't install gapps or anything else...
Hi: I'm a noob and need help. I searched and found this thread.
Just bought a second hand Xoom WiFi with a 4.0.3 that was installed by the seller's friend.
I got home and connected to my WiFi and noticed an update to your system notice and I realised that it was an update to 4.0.4, an OTA update. Very happy.
However when the Xoom went into the discovery mode, I got the error messages that this thread starter mentioned. So, I'm still in 4.0.3 and I'm wondering what might have the previous 'updater' did to update the Xoom from 3.2 to 4.0.3 and how that is causing the error message.
If any one can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I searched every forum that could help me solve this problem I have, which is this error that tells me that i can't install in USB Storage or SD card.
I installed Jaggyrom 3.2.1 and cranium kernel by sakinda123
I could install some apps but I can't install some apps either. (I tried installing apps by unmounting the SD card then mounting it back after it's installed although I'm not sure if it directly installs to the ext4 partition or internal memory)
Long story short, I'm stumped on what to do with this problem
Cranium kernel #3 has that bug..flash #2 again..it may resolve
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app

Sorry for the absolutely LATE reply but the ext4 partition isn't the problem. I'm going to try the cranium build #2 and see if it resolves this problem.
Tested and confirmed, Cranium Kernel Build #2 + Jaggyrom 3.2.1 fixed the "Couldn't install in USB Storage or SD card"
Thank you for the help guys.
Hi everyone,
First of all, I hope I post in the right section...
So, after several days lurking and trying various solutions, I have resigned myself to ask for your help.
So here is my problem. I wanted to switch my rom to CM 10, unfortunately the install went wrong and I made the mistake to do a factory reset from the bootloader, and now i can't mount the sdcard.
I have formated my sdcard, with no success, I have tried this guide (can't post link..It's called how to fix corrupt/unmountable scdard on HTC one XL in Team Noctural forums ) with no success either...
Important precision : I have an international version of the phone (carrier : Vodafone / SFR)
Symptoms are :
- no OS
- I have access to bootloader / recovery (TWRP)
- I can mount my phone as a usb storage, but disk is empty on pc
- I can explore the folders of the sdcard in TWRP
- I can run adb commands and push files
- but I can't mount my sdcard, and thus install rom...
So I 'm begging for your help to make this phone work again.
Thank you
You have an international One X, so no, you're not in the right section.
What version of CM10 did you flash? Hopefully it wasn't from this forum, because if so, you might have screwed something up.
In any case, you need to be in the other One X forum.
Well, I had the same reflexion, so I've post this on the One X forum in the first place. But a member told me the section was only about ENDEAVOR, not EVITA....
So I'm kinda lost...
And indeed, I have downloaded CM10 from this forum...

So you indeed have an Evita? Then you are in the right place.
TWRP can see folders and files in on your sd card? You just can't mount it from your pc?
Yes I have an Evita.
Yes TWRP can see folders and files (even pushed files), and I can mount (in Mount menu) system / data / cache, but not SD card (can't check the box)

Meaning, it can see stuff on the sdcard? Not just in /system?
I assume you've tried flashing from those folders even if it's not mounted?
Yes, I can see files in the sdcard folder but when I try to install it, it shows :
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/rom.zip'
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/sdcard'
E: Unable to mount storage.
And the Team Nocturnal tool doesn't work? You're sure you used the Evita version? What happens when you run it?
How did you format your sdcard? What format did you use?
I'm surprised the Team Nocturnal tool didn't work for you. I had the same issue when I wanted to install CleanROM and the tool fixed it right up.
How far did you get into it?
Thanks to your questions I reran the Team Noctural tool, and I realized I wasn't following the procedure proprerly...Everything is fixed now !!
Thanks
Good to hear.
Hi guys,
I have managed to root my samsung galaxy s gt-i9000 and have cwm on it too. Looking good so far!
I copied the zip files to my sd card but when i try to install the zip file i get the message of error in sd card, aborted! Status 7
Trying to install paranoid android 4.3
My phone is firmware 2.2.1 fROYO
Baseband version I9000XXJPY
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build numberFROYO.XWJSD
Any help greatly appreciated especially if in the simplest terms
Tried with a different file and got this
[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard/CM10-v9.4.zip (bad) Installation aborted
Thanks, Tim
At first, try a different SD card. Maybe you can borrow one for some experiments from a friend ? Zip files with OS images tend to be big, they have bigger probability of exposing a hardware card problem, which isn't exposed so frequently when handling smaller files like photos and MP3s.
