Are you using Sweep2Wake? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How much battery does sweep2wake use? Is it worth it to enable it or does it just totally kill the battery? Is it possible to also screw up the screen with it too?

I tried the TouchControl app. Even if this kind of features is cool the battery drain was too important imo. I don't remember the exact percent but it was important enough to uninstall this app.
I didn't try yet the built-in feature from custom kernels though.
Finally there's no risk for your screen.

LONGEST LASTING BATTERY stable ROM/kernel

Hi. I am using stock ics. Getting 1.5days of battery with light usage of data(2g). However. Is there a rom that can push it, to a full 2 days? I'm irritated having to charge my phone in the middle of the day. also I would prefer a stable rom only.

you can put a custom kernel that can extend your battery life. i recommend glados for ics.
Are there any problems with it ?

about GlaDos
if you have S-amuled you will have a greenish screen when waking the device
(that can be fixed with some voodoo configuration editing)
other then that i personally think this is the best available kernel for ICS right now.
it has Deep Idle so you will probably see some improvement of battery life

i have 9023, lcd version.. should i flash Nexus beam with it?
Battery life depends on ROMs and your usage habits.
If you can get five hours of on screen time your doing something right.

10/1/13 Core killer app test v1.1beta??

Update to version 1.1beta
Ok so maybe I should have posted this in development at this point but...idk
So I built another app and would like ppl to test it out. This app will kill core 2 to increase battery life. It also kills when the screen is off.
Just push the off button and the the core will be turned off and will remain off till you turn it on through the app or reboot.
Please let me know your thoughts!
This is going to be free on the market when its done.
Please let me know your battery life and what not if you can.
Thanks guys!
Version 1.1beta

haven't done anything long term to test battery life but it seems not to keep core2 off 100% of the time (is it supposed to?). even when i directly wake from the lock screen into the app itself i can see core status switching off & on.
im also getting a lot of SU toast notifications outside of the app itself. when i run linpak the multi thread yields results typical of both cores running.
running Liquid smooth and a custom BMS kernel.
thanks but uninstalled for now

It uses a little bit your RAM so there's a small impact on battery life. That's why I use MOADB

What's that like on battery life and ram? Does it block YouTube ads? And finally and importantly... Does it work with ART?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
i'm using adaway and it works perfectly, also with art. because of the way it blocks (routing in the hosts file), websites and apps does not detect it as adblocking.

As far as I remember it takes 5-6Mb of your RAM. About ART it should work (http://www.androidruntime.com/list)

Chaos kernel & slide2wake

Hi.
The use of s2w with this kernel causes battery drain?
Thanks!

Any such tweak will drain battery for the device wasn't built for such use!

It's not really because it wasn't intended for such use. Some other devices that were not intended to have such features on stock have no drain issues using them with a custom kernel.
It's more of just a hardware limitation. On the Nexus 5, you can't keep only the digitizer powered, you have to keep the entire panel powered, which is what causes the drain. On some other devices, this isn't a limitation and you can power them on separately, hence much less drain.

Best App to disable CPU Cores

hello all
I am trying to find an app that will let me disable the cores that I don't want to use. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Tutorial would be great
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Sorry can you please elaborate?
Just use kernel adiutor to disable any of the 4 big cores, or little ones.

You would disable 2 big on battery and leave 4 big only while charging. The little cores can all be left on, or maybe leave 3. I haven't noticed a difference between 4 and 2 little cores for battery or temp.
