Hi all! I'm new to this 3d...I moved from the Moto Atrix 4g's one. I am one of the unlucky guys having the yellow tinted display on their nexus 5. I read several suppositions: someone says this is a panel problem, or simply that there are different panels from different vendors. I requested a RMA and the new phone arrived with the same yellow tint and a dead pixel so I sent it back to Netherlands. I'm waiting for requesting a second RMA but I also read that the yellow tint can be caused by a different color setting at kernel level. So my question is: can I hope to solve the problem simply flashing a "good" system image? That's the matter! Hope you can help me! Thank you all guys
Flashing a stock image won't fix that, since the color value is the same, it's just the color setting, the only way to change that would be to flash a custom kernel that would allow you to tweak the color values

Ok, If I didn't misunderstand we have the same color settings for different panels with different native properties, thus we should adapt the color settings according to the panel version, right? Otherwise flashing a stock kernel from a phone with a white tint should solve the issue....
The color values are the same in a stock kernel so it will look different because of the different panel. You need to adjust the values. Flashing a stock kernel from a phone withe a white display will not change anything for your yellow display

I had this issue as well until I flashed the Franco kernel. Doing so fixed it beautifully and the display is gorgeous.

Try flashing the franko kernel, he's tweaked that so its a little more blueish. That might get you the display you're looking for

I'm scared for warranty and updates: 1) Will I be able of going back to stock kernel (like if I had never modified anything) after flashing franco's kernel? 2) Will there be any problem when an official google update will occur? forgive me for my poor english

Technically, rooting and putting stock custom recovery on required to flash the kernel could void your warranty. It's very ready to return your phone back to stock though. With the kernel installed you won't be able to install the ota updates. But again, it's easy to return to stock.
The beauty of owning a nexus device is anything that you can flash on it can be removed just a easily, i never about voiding the warranty

OK so it seems my phone has an issue with any rom other than stock as I have tried them all and I have 3 things that happen: a. Phone will reboot on its on or b. The screen will go black with the buttons lit up. Or c. It will freeze on me. This is any rom other than bone stock. Any one know what could be the cause of this?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
okay , your phone looks like hard to use.
what version/model is it ? is it possible you flashed GSM ROM to 4G Nexus S ? or 4G ROM to GSM ?
okay , your operator is AT&T , forget it ... it wouldn't be 4G
orginal MIUI and orginal CM7 , all the same ?
I haven't tried any miui roms but every rom I have tried has been for 9020s. I have tried bugles beast, NSCollab, oxygen, we scream for ice cream (which I fully expect to have issues but could not resist trying) , blanddroid, and nexusMV all with the same issue. I even tried several different kernels to see if that would make a difference but it didn't

There's a low chance your cpu can't take any voltages/frequencies outside stock kernel range. Because that black display/lit buttons thingy happens to me if I go too low on voltages or freq.
What are the stock voltage rages? So I can try that theory out?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Nexus has model of 9020S ??
i only heard about 9020A,F,T and 9023
default MIUI doesn't over/underclock or UV
To further update today I have been running a stock 2.3.7 rom made by drew garen that has been running well with no reboots, freezes or anything but again it is stock with the exception of being rooted and 2.3.7 instead 2.3.4 like my stock rom and the only reason I am running it instead of my actual stock one is for google wallet.

Nah, NS4G is running 2.3.7 as it includes the required NFC chip update to run Google wallet.
OK so even with that rom it has been acting stupid though not as bad then I went to my stock rom and again the same thing so I think I am just going to unroot and take it to best buy because I am pretty sure it is not supposed to have this much trouble
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Well I am completely stock and unrooted now and so far no problems so my question would now be did I just have a bad root or something? Should I retry rooting now that its back to original or should I take it to best buy and try to get them to replace it? I really like playing with rooted phones and trying different roms and stuff but it is kinda impractical when my phone won't handle it...that's why I am wondering if I had done something wrong maybe?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I have the NS4G but I've never had those issues on any ROM
Well after being unrooted since yesterday I am now no longer getting any freezes, black screens, or reboots. My question now is, did I possibly do something wrong in the root process that might have caused this problem?

Did you try re-rooting it?

I did just now using different more up to date rooting kit files then the ones I used before. I am going to stick with the stock rom for the rest of the day just rooted and see if the problem happens and then if it doesn't do like this then I may try running a custom rom and if this does not work I will unroot it again and throw the phone against a brick repeatedly so best buy will take the thing back as I tried taking it back today and i couldn't come up with a good enough reason for them too take it back it seems.
OK update time. Running stock rooted after unrooting and rooting (using a different root kit this time) I am having no issues what so ever and I even tried taxing the CPU by running app after app ran some heavy games and things of that nature with no restarts or freezes, however I tried NSCollab for a little while and it did act up though not as bad as before so I have gone back to stock rooted and everything is fine for now. I may try some other rom later but for now I am happy just to be rooted with no issues with the stock rom. I might try a less modded rom like buggles beast or oxygen net go round though other than not having the notification Widgets and reboot/recovery option when pressing the power button stock rooted does everything I want it too.

I think that problem could be kernel. Have you tried any customer kernels? Previously I had freeze issues and this so called 'morning coma', kernel fixed all those problems
while that could be the issue with that rom I think I have discovered my real problem could be something to do with titanium backup, either the program its self or one of my backed up apps. this morning on my stock rom it rebooted twice so I got to thinking and decided to do a wipe but instead of restoring my apps from titanium back up I just used the market website to send all of my apps to my phone and so far that seems to have fixed the issue. the only apps i did not re-install was amazon appstore (and a few games from there) rom manager, and titanium backup so I am assuming my problem is contained in one of those apps if I am no longer having the problem.
With titanium do you you just back up apps and app data? Or system data too?

I seriously don't think Google knows this issue exists within stock ICS, which is kinda were because this happens to me nearly every time I lock my Nexus S.

Have you installed the Voodoo app ?
Yea you can try by going to display and turning the brightness to 26. I remember doing that on the miui roms bc.of green flash on the on/off.animations

Install a new kernel, like Matr1x Kernel.
Or use voodoo plus app.
Heeter
That sort of fixes it

Yes, the latest Matr1x kernel (14.5) has the green screen fix. I believe the Steve Garon kernel has it too.

I have a Craig cmp745e and have rooted it and installed cwm. I have found a custom ROM that loads and runs quite nice, the only problem is my touchscreen doesn't work. My question is there a way to get the drivers for my screen off my tablet and make them work with a different rom?

This symptom is exhibited if you flash the wrong kernel for your device, thereby making the touchscreen not to respond. However the hardware buttons might respond. Flash the right kernel for your device.:good:
I'm pretty sure I got the right kernel, I found that the screen works its just off by several inches. I used the stock kernel posted somewhere on here. Before I used the stock kernel I couldn't even get it to load so I think its the right kernel.

This might be due to a wrong dpi setting of the rom that doesn't match your device's display hardware . You can use an app that changes the dpi setting back to its stock value. Since it is a custom rom, maybe it might have an option to change the dpi in settings.

Since it is off by several inches, it might be difficult to use an app to change the dpi. Its better to edit the rom package zip using a computer to change the dpi back to stock value and again flash this modified zip in CWM.
Follow these steps to edit the custom rom zip file
1. Copy the zip file to the computer and open it using winrar (no need to extract)
2. Navigate to System folder
3. Open the file name build.prop using notepad.
4. Scroll down and under 'Additional_build_properties' look for the line ro.sf.lcd_density = xxx
Replace xxx with stock value and save it.
5. Save the zip for the changes made to be merged.
6. Transfer it to your sd card and flash it.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks! I can't wait to try it. The wireless keyboard I have works great so I'll try to set it from the device.. ..do you think an LCD density app would help of there is no option within the rom?

A wrong dpi setting makes the displayed objects to appear shifted and not all objects will be visible. Hence ensure that you have the stock dpi value.
I tried it with a LCD density app, no matter what I set it to the touch was way off and always by the same amount. I could see the coins and keyboard change size but the screen was off by the same amount each time.

This might be a bug in the custom rom you have used. Ckeck to see if this is a known issue from the site you have downloaded the rom. Perhaps they might provide a fix or an update.

Have you found any solution yet? Im having the same problem with the screen being off by several inches even with the stock image from the craig website flashed back on it.
same with me it started after i flashed the kernal from the craig website.
I never flashed the kernel from the Craig website. I used a rom I had found here. Before I flashed a new rom I used the online nandroid backup app. After I flashed the new rom had the same screen problems. The cwm recovery was installed with the rom and with the help of a cheap wireless keyboard I was able to use my nandroid backup to restore my backup. After it was restored my tab was working fine and I have cwm. Now I'm just trying different things hoping to find a cm rom that will work.

Is it possible for you to upload the backup for me to try to see if it fixes my problem as well?
Hello guys. I am facing some terrible problem here. After I flashed the ROM I got some problems with the gamma maybe. In settings I see some color changes and etc. General in grey color. I see the problem looking at the screen even when I am in the closing process menu.. Cause it's still grey I think. I really hope it's from the ROM not from the tablet. Absolutely every other color don't make problems. Is it possible to have problem because of the gama and do you think it's because of the CyanogenMod 10.1 4.2.2 android. And if there is someone else with this problem please help. It's not so bad problem it's annoying and it makes me worry if it's possible to start getting bigger.

And if you are getting that grey effect only in settings it might be software problem.

Okay. I will try then, but not now. Anyway I don't like CyanogenMod 10.1 .. For example there is allways after reboot system massage '' This system cannot be enhanced'' Don't even know what is that doing. And sometimes my Open Process bar don't work. I will try going to stock ROM then if there is no problem i will try some more ROMs but i am worrying the battery life will die flashing ROM after ROM.
Thank you !

I installed a custom ROM on my phone 4 days ago and have noticed a strange problem recently. My screen is qHD and the Ported phone ROM screen is HD. The thing is at the bottom of my screen there sometimes appear a 1mm black bar(3 alternate lines sometime), then sometimes a mirror image of a part of status bar or something like that(corrupted screen) and sometimes it's absolutely normal!!
I installed HOLO launcher, re-installed xposed framework and gravity box. I had installed bravia engine 3 but removed it. Still sometimes the problem remains.
When I boot into TWRP sometimes there's a grey/black bar at the bottom.
Is this a hardware problem?
please suggest a solution.
Thanks,

Did it happen when u bought this phone i.e in stock rom? I believe u did not just start custom roms from 1st hr of purchase did u? If not, it "could be" due to some left overs of some rom which was not cleaned. Try to do a factory reset, dalvik cache clean etc & install Stock ROM for ur device first. If it still happens then it could be hardware fault.
