How to upgrade a Stock+Root+Custom_Recovery I9505G from 4.3 to 4.4 and keep all Data - Galaxy S 4 General

If you have a Rooted+Custom recovery Galaxy S4 I9505G with 4.3 and you want to upgrade to 4.4 while keeping all your data untouched and restoring root +custom recovery, here is what you need to do.
You can't upgrade with OTA. root is ok but a custom recovery changes the partitions and will cause the upgrade to fail
To resolve this:
1. Download stock recovery and install it using ODIN
2. Download the OTA update to your device and use the stock recovery to upgrade (or use sideload from adb)
3. You have 4.4 and all your data.
4. You now don't have root so download SuperSU
5. You still don't have root so download Clockwork recovery for I9505
6. Fastboot boot the clockwork img
7. Flash the SuperSU
8. Reboot
9. Download SuperSU from the PlayStore
10 You have root!
11. Downlaod twrp openrecovery for I9505G
12. Enter download mode
13. Use odin to flash your new Recovery
14. Reboot
15. Enjoy your new 4.4 Stock+root+recoveryGalaxy S4 Google Edition + all your data !
i only picked this up fro this forum and used other users methods combined
so i can't post any links
you can pick up all the files needed at this Forum (use search)

Guys PLEASE HELP! We need some files from the GE 4.4 rom for our 9505!

You can skip half those steps and flash supersu with twrp at the end instead.

That means its modified. You can only accept OTA if your /system is unchanged
Although OTA is pointless if rooted anyway
Just download the full rooted stock ROM in android development and flash it without wipe from recovery.
It's actually fewer steps anyway.
OTA = revert system changes and/or kernel, reboot into recovery, flash the OTA , boot to bootloader, connect to pc, fastboot flash recovery, reboot into recovery, flash supersu.
Rooted stock = reboot into recovery, flash the ROM.
No brainer really. Flashing an OTA if rooted is a fool's errand.

If you want to remain with stock ROM, make a nandroid backup, flash stock recovery and do an update. Re-root and re-flash CWM after if you wish.
Alternatively, try an alternative ROM like CM11, Omni, PA etc. You can use CWM recovery to simply flash your new rom (after full wipe). Don't forget to take a nandroid backup AND a data backup of contacts, all app-data, sms/mms, bookmarks etc with apps like Titanium, MyBackup or Carbon/Helium.
This is what you can do
Step 1: download the update on your stock 4.4.2 rom.
Step 2: plug your phone into your computer and reboot to fastboot mode 3: pretend your flashing stock firmware (no u won't loose any data or have to reset)
Step 4: flash everything in order BUT*** exclude mfastboot erase userdata and mfastboot erase cache.
Step 5: after u exclude those 2 commands reboot your phone using mfastboot reboot
Step 6 your phone will reboot however any tweaks, modifications, and anything involving root will be disabled temporarily since u basically reverted back to stock without fully factory reseting.
Step 7: Go to settings and install your update (itll take about 10-15) minutes
Step 8: once its done go back to fastboot mode reflash your recovery and your root and reboot and your good to go ull be on 4.4.4 rooted and stock recovery
Side Note : Making a 4.4.2 back up is useless because after u upgrade you can't downgrade
Im on 4.4.4 XT1031 Boostmobile
Custom Recovery (TWRP) and rooted
Sent from my XT1031 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No M10 snapshot yet
I also might install CM11 but there is no M10 snapshot, so thats why i'm on stock until the latest M snapshot is released for it.

[HOW TO] INSTALL STOCK LOLLIPOP 5.0 ON SM-N900 (The only method that worked for me)

LOLLIPOPPPPPP FOR N900!
(no too many debs for "us", but Lollipop is here first!!)
This is the only way it worked for me, I think there is a “ROM problem” with the last one of Vietnam, but here is the whole process with the links.
Original Post: http://samsungviet.vn/threads/huong...-5-0-cho-galaxy-note-3-n900-update-root.1898/
(They are great!)
Links:
Lollipop 5.0 ROM: https://www.fshare.vn/file/S8F8KUDZLPGY (Pass: samsungviet.vn)
Stock 4.4.2 N900XXUENJ3 ROM (Vietnam): http://samsung-updates.com/details/36828/Galaxy_Note_3_Exynos/SM-N900/XSE/N900XXUENJ3.html

CF-Auto Root: http://download.chainfire.eu/353/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-ha3g-ha3gxx-smn900.zip
Bluethooth FIX: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/themes-apps/wifi-bluetooth-fix-s5-ported-roms-t2938607
Mannualy change CSC (to XXV): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659588
Instructions:
Download Lollipop 5.0 ROM and extract the “update.zip” to your PC. (pass: samsungviet.vn)
Flash via ODIN 3.07: Stock 4.4.2 N900XXUENJ3 ROM (remember uncheck “Reboot..” option
Flash via ODIN 3.07: TWRP 2.8.1.0 (now checked “Reboot..” option)
Once booted copy update.zip to your device, both, internal and external SDcard
Reboot in recovery mode (Vol up + Home + Power)
Make a full wipe
Flash update.zip. Don't reboot. Return TWRP Home -> Reboot -> Download
In Download mode flash Stock Recovery you downloaded
(Now you probably get the famous “black screen”)
Use Vol up + Home + Power to enter Stock Recovery
Flash the update.zip from external SDcard
Let it boot. and.. voilá!
If this method doesn't work, probably must change the CSC to “XXV”, I did it manually (apps didn't work for me) after flashing “Stock 4.4.2 N900XXUENJ3 ROM”, was not too easy, you must root it and modify 2 files (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659588)
Need Root?
Flash CF-Auto Root with ODIN. It works!
Please, hit “Thanks” if I helped you.
Thanks

[APP] FLASHFIRE: Mobile Odin

Flashfire is a great app that you can use to flash official firmware. Here are links to the app thread
XDA Thread
Google Play
I was able to flash official CPF3 firmware from a CM13 rom and was able to keep unlocked bootloader and root CPF3 from installing supersu zip file from TWRP recovery.
when you choose the firmware to install, only select Boot.img, System, & Cache and it will flash the firmware, and it may bootloop, just pull battery out and and back in and reboot, I can't remember if I did a battery pull during bootloop and booted into recovery to factory reset after firmware flash and it booted right up.
This is my new favorite app, you do have to be rooted. You may find more info at the app thread. But just wanted to let everybody here know it does work and it's awesome.
