Welp, two weeks into having my shiny N5 I rolled over a UTV and somehow my phone managed to be the only thing smashed to smitherine. Seriously, I got ejected out on the first flip, had the UTV land on my chest upside down when it was all said and done. I managed to walk away with nothing more than soreness, yet my N5 which was in the cubby and inside a leather glove and case came out looking like this....
It still lights up, do you think it's just the screen? I've never had a phone fixed before, so this is new to me. Is it fixable? What do you guys think.

My god. O.O
Fixable? Seriously?
I think you need to build a small wooden bier for it and set it on fire while you sing a song of farewell.
Don't forget to put two tiny coins on its eyes. For the boatman.
Ouch.. try pulling the glass and see if anything looks damaged, if all looks "ok" try replacing the glass and let us know.
I thought I saw a glass replacment thread on here not long ago, otherwise i'm sure EBay already has some floating around.
Glad your ok! Keep the rubber side down :good:
Check with your credit card company (whichever you used to purchase the Nexus 5 with) on their warranty coverage. Most credit card companies will offer a 90 day accidental warranty, but will only cover up to a certain dollar amount. You might be able to just get a new one.
And don't think that making a claim with your credit card is a long process. It's super simple, and since it's free coverage, you won't get hit with any premium increases like you would with homeowner's insurance. Give it a shot, almost all major credit cards offer this protection and most consumers aren't aware it even exists.

After posting on reddit someone pointed me in this direction. Sent in the paperwork today. The do require you to get a quote to have it fixed. A cellphone repair company quoted me 275. He said it's just the lcd and glass but since it's so new they were still really expensive. May try and fix it myself and sell it once discover refunds me.
Already purchased a new one though. Got a Black this time and definitely prefer it over the white.

hello everybody, my phone fell down on monday and the body got scratched, as i can see from the pictures posted here, i think i could replace it because of the mao failure issue, do you think it´s worth a try ? the phone is 3 weeks old
here are some pictures of it

If you're getting scratches that AREN'T due to the fall, then you should be able to return it. HTC has said that anyone with issues with it can return their device. Despite the damage that the fall caused, the MAO coating is faulty, and you should be good to go.
well i only had 2 scratches from the mao issues, that´s why i´m asking if it looks different from mao failure or does it look like real scratches ?
Those pics are way too blurry to take a guess.
What you dropped it on? Rocks, pavement, wooden front porch? The chips or flakes of MAO come off pretty clean, I guess if HTC gets a phone that has clearly visible scratches next to a "chip" they could decline free repair, because those scratches are a pretty sure fire way to tell.
Circumstancial
It depends. If you're going to take it back to a retailer, it'll be a coin toss. Due to Loss Prevention policies implemented by many retailers, they've become more and more stringent on exchanges. If you're willing to send it to HTC, I'm sure they'll send you a new/refurbished one since they've acknowledged the MAO issue.
Couldn't hurt to try.
But still it depends much on the way you dropped it (and on what). Mine fell from my pocket the other day and didn't get as scratched as one would have expected.
But I'm one of them with "a lucky phone" that doesn't have the flaw coating issue
If you put some good effort into it - you will most likely get it repaired.
i have been at the retailer´s store and showed them the "coating issues", they asked if i have my bill and everything with me (i didn´t because i just wanted to check if it is possible) and they said i should come back with everything and then i will get a new phone
edit: i have to unroot/relock bootloader if i´m returning it right?
Recommended
It's recommended that you wipe your phone to get rid of any personal information but most retailers won't check to see if the phone is rooted. As long as you are still at the stock ROM, then the sales associate may or may not have the ability to tell you have rooted it but they will most likely not care.
I hate to say that I have christened my Sprint Galaxy S5 by dropping it WITHOUT a case. Almost 3 months without incident!! When it dropped the bottom right hand corner specifically the chrome band around the phone is dinged. My question is does anybody know if there is a way to replace JUST that band, and if it is possible where to get it? Pictures to follow later tonight!

Wholly moly! That looks the like pretty much the housing assembly correct? Do you know of a site that sells, and the difficulties of swapping?
I thanked you, but just want to say thank you as well!

I buy the parts direct from china, not too sure about any online site, i'm sure some does sell it, also updated with a tear down link.
Thanks again!
Here's the part you'll need:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351070105491
I work for a repair shop and we get parts from these guys, so I can without a doubt vouch for the quality, price, and shipping time.
As for replacing it.... Good luck, you'll need it. The only way into the S5 is behind the screen which must be removed to open it up. It's glued down with superSam****adhesive so more likely than not you'll end up breaking the display or separating the display from the glass. If your screen is fine, it's not worth the cost of replacing your entire display just to replace the midframe.
Just in case, here's a display w/ the home button flex: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351067874432
also need to buy the panel sticker adhesive and the display rim adhesive.
I got all these stuff apart from the panel adhesive, but traded my S5 yesterday for a Tab S 8.4.:fingers-crossed:
Thanks guys for your help! After looking at everything needed to be done I think you guys are right, I will just live with the nicks I have, and since they are a bit sharp, i'll use a dremel on low speed to grind down a little. Like I said thanks again for the eye opener!!!! LoL:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:
Here's my setup:
- Sinjimoru Credit Card Pouch V3.
- Spigen Crystal Clear Tpu Case
The Sinjimoru uses a hardcore 3M adhesive to attach onto any case.

I had the same setup on my Note 3. The pouch on my old setup lasted pretty much the whole time. Didn't give up and the adhesive haven't peeled in anyway.
I enjoyed the irony of having the best mobile device with a credit card pouch. We can now mobile pay so credit card is unnecessary.
Note 4 beats your Note 3, just sayin...
Most of the stores and restaurants I know don't accept mobile pay.

I never use mobile pay and I don't believe in the security of it. I much rather use credit cards for the per swipe. Also many countries that I travel in don't support mobile pay.
speaker holes
do the speaker holes line up on this case since the vzw note 4 is a bit different than the other kids in the family ?

Actually, mobile is not well supported in the USA. The credit card companies are still fighting with each other in regards to it support. I thought we might have seen some progress with ApplePay since there would be an huge herd of iPhone6 users who would be willing to use it. Alas, a couple of major supporters have already stopped supporting it.
Personally, I like Google Wallets implementation. Unfortunately, Google, Apple, and various other tech companies don't have enough clout in the financial markets to change the credit card. It will occur, but it's going to a lot more time.
Hey buddy..im using the same case as you.

Not too bad of a case. The only I dont' like is that it's not 100% clear.. Has a slight yellow tint in the TPU.
Hey there, for those using a Sinjimoru on a Note 4, does it block the flash or the speaker on the back? Been wanting to pick one up, but was worried it'd hit one or the other with cards in the back. Thanks!

nope, don't have a problem. check the attached pics
Curious, I actually wasn't able to mount it in a way that didn't have my business cards blocking the flash, at least partially. I had to shift it down and to the side, mounting it in the lower-right of the back to clear both the speaker and the flash. It fits, just.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed their screen peeling off in one of the corners. The top sheet of glass is separating from the black/blue metal underneath making it look like a screen protector bubble. Rather than being in the middle though, it's on the top left corner, and appears to be getting worse. I tried pushing it back down and that did nothing to help, and appeared to make it worse. So I stopped touching it, but it has spread to the LED light and it's about 2/3 of the way down to the screen.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had that problem and if anyone has any suggestions? I'm just a couple of weeks outside my warranty. I didn't drop it on that corner either. Verizon basically said they would do nothing because it's not 'an official bulletin' but Samsung said they would fix it, but it would be gone for about 12-14 business days. Verizon said they wouldn't do a loaner phone, but the guy told me off the record, they do have a 14 day return policy. But then there is a restocking fee.
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this issue?
Yes this had happened to me after having their phone for like 2 months I called Verizon's stupid ass they blamed me saying it was my fault and that I have to pay for an insurance replacement that it was not a manufacturer defect which it was I was so very angry I will never buy a Samsung piece of **** again because now I'm stuck with a ****ty ass phone that I can't even root it's been out for a year now still no root but the Verizon Note 7 has already been rooted what the f***

That's exactly what is happening to my wife phone right now, I emailed samsung and they answered me saying that it seems to be a screen protector problem and that I should remove the screen protector to check if that solve the problem and to contact them back if the problem persist, I'm attaching some pics to show my screen

Mine did this too. I had verizon replace it.
I run a repair shop and have seen this on multiple devices
Happened to me with att device though. Took it to a device support center for another problem and they were going to replace but because I had that same thing. They told me it was abuse on my end. Literally took the phone out the case and showed them a mint condition phone minus that crap. Told me I could pay the $99 deductible and haven't it sent in. Told them I wasn't paying sh*t cause my phone was under warranty. They wanted to play games so I played back and got what I wanted and more
Crapazon sent the wrong damn otterbox case.
Suppose to have

I wouldn't call them crapazon then LOL. They seemed to have responded quickly to a potential shady vendor.

A shady vendor that crapazon is representing.
I don't think many companies can come anywhere near Amazon's commitment to customer service. They have always come through for me. They once replaced a $400.00 two-year out of warranty espresso maker for me at no charge. Sure they have some not to up standards sellers slip in but they deal with it pronto.

This is what I meant. Amazon deals with a lot of companies. I'm sure a questionable one slips through their screening every now and then. However, they are quick to respond about resolving the issue so I give them credit for this. It is one of several reasons I use them.
Actually, I think this one category, cell phone accessories, is where the biggest culprits lurk.
They could have said iPhone 7.
Went to eBay. 22 bucks free shipping. Luv this case n holster.
