Chrome / Metal Band GS5 Sprint - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

I hate to say that I have christened my Sprint Galaxy S5 by dropping it WITHOUT a case. Almost 3 months without incident!! When it dropped the bottom right hand corner specifically the chrome band around the phone is dinged. My question is does anybody know if there is a way to replace JUST that band, and if it is possible where to get it? Pictures to follow later tonight!

Wholly moly! That looks the like pretty much the housing assembly correct? Do you know of a site that sells, and the difficulties of swapping?
I thanked you, but just want to say thank you as well!

I buy the parts direct from china, not too sure about any online site, i'm sure some does sell it, also updated with a tear down link.

Thanks again!

Here's the part you'll need:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351070105491
I work for a repair shop and we get parts from these guys, so I can without a doubt vouch for the quality, price, and shipping time.
As for replacing it.... Good luck, you'll need it. The only way into the S5 is behind the screen which must be removed to open it up. It's glued down with superSam****adhesive so more likely than not you'll end up breaking the display or separating the display from the glass. If your screen is fine, it's not worth the cost of replacing your entire display just to replace the midframe.
Just in case, here's a display w/ the home button flex: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351067874432

also need to buy the panel sticker adhesive and the display rim adhesive.
I got all these stuff apart from the panel adhesive, but traded my S5 yesterday for a Tab S 8.4.:fingers-crossed:

Thanks guys for your help! After looking at everything needed to be done I think you guys are right, I will just live with the nicks I have, and since they are a bit sharp, i'll use a dremel on low speed to grind down a little. Like I said thanks again for the eye opener!!!! LoL:cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:

Not really sure what material that is.. doesn't really matter. (Edit.. looks like plastic..that's finel.)
I assume that it's the break that you want to fix.. if so an epoxy resin will work plus you can file it and paint it if you want.. it's such a powerful adhesive that it comes in the form of two chemicals that you have to mix yourself. Any hardware store will have it.. it bonds ANYTHING.. metal, stone, wood, plastic..in most cases it's actually stronger than the material that you are trying to fix (which has it's own set of problems, lol).
Remember.... READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
Superglue or an equvilent won't work in this case.. it's not powerful enough for metals and it melts plastic.
Go to a Service/repair centre.. If you replace it yourself, you will lose garanty (you got to open stuff to replace it).

Or do what Svenitos says.
I prefer to replace it with a new one, but I can't find the part anywhere on the net to order it online, because I'm pretty sure I can't find it here in Sofia, Bulgaria. I don't care about the warranty, the phone is mine 4life anyways
About the glue: The part is plastic on the top, and a rubber in the back. I broke the plastic! Maybe with a chloroform the plastic can become into one part but I don't think I want to own such a unit
Does anyone know from where I can get a spare part ?

Why dont you write a mail with pic to HTC?

Anyone replaced their screen yet??

My wife dropped hers recently and broke the glass. I found the glass and tools on ebay for like $30, and even found a youtube video that steps through everything you need to do. I just wanted to know if I'm taking on something I shouldn't.

well it depends if you are up for the task.
If you have no experience with tearing apart electronics, I would watch some videos first. Different ones, so you can really get a feel of what's going on. It's important to be very gentle, usually no force required.
Make sure you work on a static free surface (I.e. NOT carpet or your bed) and keep all screws in one place. I've seen teardown videos of our phone, it's not that bad.

thanks blue6ix! i'm up for it, i just wanted to see if anyone else had actually done it after seeing it the videos/pictures and were completely overwhelmed/ill-prepared.
As with any other phone, be VERY VERY careful with ribbon cables. I swear, those things will tear if you blow on them.

new screen has arrived. will let you know how the replacement goes.
Yeah, um, don't do this if you haven't done something like it before or aren't prepared. Phone is back together with new glass, but it's in NO WAY as solid as it used to be. I feel like I need to take it apart again and glue some things down - the adhesive provided was not enough.

Did you take any photos?
only one of it all apart on my desk at work. This video and these pics were spot on, but more emphasis should be put on the adhesive that hold the lcd panel to the metal backing - that was the worst and required the most time, and a hair dryer or heat gun isn't just recommended, it's necessary.
I'm using you as a guide. Mine is getting irritating with all the dust, so I'll invest on the glue strip first.
Also, during your shopping, did you by any chance run into any keyboard replacements? The wife's one is repeating a lotta letters and she's been repeating a lotta comments to me....

[Q] Damaged Camera Lens

Hi guys,
I managed it to break to glass of my camera on my Nexus 5.
The camera still works, it just looks like I'm taking pictures in a fog.
So all I need to replace would be the covering glass.
Can you point me somewhere or give me hints?
How complicated is such an repair, can I do it on my own?
Will I be able to get the replacement?
Regards

You wouldn't get warranty coverage and so you'll have to pay for the replacement glass, as well as the repair cost. Its safer if you just hand it over to LG for repairs, because you wouldn't want to get any dust under the glass when you replace it yourself (if that was even possible). I'm pretty sure they'll be able to get a replacement. Check your phone documentation for the nearest service center that should get you started.

There is a replacement part that you can buy yourself for around $35 I think, just search for the other similar threads for the link.
Can I ask how it happened?
Heres the replacement: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-To...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item1c3c3e8403
Good luck
I knew this day would happen
Try contact LG they may do it for you free or for a low price.
Thanks for the link, do you think it is safe to do it on my own? (Doesn't look to hard to do tbh)..
I can't tell you how it happened. I looked at my phone and the glass was broken. I didn't had my keys in my pocket or something

Check out the Nexus 5 teardown guide on ifixit.com and see if its something you're comfortable with doing. As long as you're handy, have the tools to get the job done, extremely patient and know how to follow directions then I'd say go for it.

Transparant Back Plate?

I am not able to find this anywhere, maybe one of you has an idea? And no, a factory is not an optiom since i don't need a thousand of these, just one or two.
Yeah, it's an old thread, but i can admit: it would be awesome if there was transparent back plate

It was known for a quite long time now. But Note 5 / S6 Edge+ have glass+metal construction which cannot be seperated (you can't access the battery) , while S5 has plastic construction, where you can take off the back cover to get access to battery, sd card or sim card.
In Note 5 / S6 Edge+ you had to heat up the back glass to loose the adhesive underneath, pull out the glass, then scratch off the color layer, and finally readhere the glass to phone.
In our S5 we can't do something like that, because we have a plastic cover which is not transparent. I would love to have ability to simply mod it like that, but it is not possible
Search eBay or look for someone who molds things on eBay or youtube
Maybe you could print the case with an 3D Printer ?
There are Companys which offer this even with transparent "print".
https://www.fabb-it.de/material/details?material=crystal-clear
Any luck?
+1
I want a couple too, any luck?
I bought the RIngke Fusion with clear back. It's a case, but it's tight enough that you can take out the back cover and use it as is.

Screen "bubble"

Thanks in advance for anyone that happens to read and/or respond this thread.
So, my S7 slipped and fell to the floor last sunday. It didn't fall a great distance, neither did it hit the floor with violence. But on the bottom of the screen something appeared, seeming like "a bubble of air".

Should I send it to Samsung? Did I lose my water/dust resistance? And, most important, should I worry about it?
Thanks again.

Hi Mate
On top of the amoled screen is a layer of glass , it seem it broke or it detached ( cant distinguish ) , that glass is part of the water resistance scheme , most like it is compromise , I do not know is warranty will cover it.......if i am not wrong in order to fix it they will have to replace the whole display

Yeah, I mean, that's what I fear. Should I take it to Samsung?
hey bro ,
first of all i feel your pain :silly::silly:
second of all i think if you take it to Samsung they will replace the screen so you're going to lose the water/dust resistance anyways (cuz we all know that if the screen is replaced the resistance won't be as good as new at all )
so i recommend you to keep it like that and just buy a good protective case so it won't get worse if you drop it again
hope i helped
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
don't forget to hit the thanks button
Happened with my S6 as well, I think the layer indeed got loose there (prolly it will gather some dust and stuff).
In my case it didn;t really seem to spread further, but as it is the result of dropping it I guess you'll have to pay to fix it (for me not worth it as it was about half the price of the phone).

Mate it all depends on the cost of the fixing....if is free or cheap enough i would do it...if done by Samsung....if is too expensive i would think about it
