This firmware rolled out since almost three weeks now and only few users got it OTA at the very beginning; now it is available via Odin only. Any clue on this behavior?
Personally I'm waiting for the update because of:
- Poor signal strength / stability in both 3G and WiFi compared with N2 same carrier, same areas.
- E-mail stock app with very poor notification reliability
- E-mail stock app quit "pushing" since two days (I'm using Aqua-mail but I miss the HTML signature etc.)
Anybody with ITV MJ7 which experienced improvements for the above matters?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Flashed this morning. I'll update if I notice improvements.
Thank you GDT, did you flash OTA or via Odin?
Same problems here. Waiting for other experiences

but I was wondering why Sammy discontinued the OTA update.

Via Odin, it's a non wipe rom. It seems a little less laggish but seems like signal doesn't change for me. I can't test the mail thing because I use Gmail for my private (doh!) mail and my work mail runs on an old server with no push services so client only polls every x minutes, and this works but worked with mj1 too
Finally MJ7 update via OTA came yesterday: 117 Mb for the complete version and a small 1,1 Mb for who were already updated in early November. For the moment I can't say anything because not yet fully tested. I've noticed just the small detail, as previously, that when the device is disconnected from the power source @ 100% of charge, once turned on, it says already 98% battery.
Let's give it a couple of days for complete optimization.

The first 5-10% of a battery after charge always drops quickly, It will slow down afterwards. In my experience with phones that is how it always has been.
... not the same with my previous Note 2, it used to stay @ 100% for few minutes...
Not very much to be worried about anyway.

After some days of test I can say my point of view of this update:
- Signal strength sligtly improved
- Battery drain normal as before (Vodafone)
- Email Samsung app. still randomly not pushing and/or not notifying unbelievable

NOTE : This is a beta version of Device Frame Generator, looking to get some feedback and fix some bugs for the next release. If you do encounter some bugs, I would appreciate if you could open a new issue at https://github.com/f2prateek/Device-Frame-Generator/issues?state=open , but just a post on this thread (or twitter @f2prateek) would work as well. Thanks!
Known Issues :
1. Support better notifications when doing batch operations.
2. Better use of estate on landscape.
Since I re-wrote this form scratch, a couple of features are missing from the Play Store version, such as the ability to have or not have glare.
Quickly wrap your screenshots with device artwork, providing better context.
This android version allows you to generate screenshots through sharing in Android, as well as perform batch operations.
NEW FEATURES:
- Better notifications
- Smoother scrolling
Good concept and app looks good just need more devices to chose from. Currently on galaxy s2.
No bugs found as the app did what I imagined is intended which was come back with an error that screen shot doesn't match chosen device dimensions.
Did let me chose a different device that is close to the actual size though DPI is different.

Thanks for testing, the app lets you choose any screenshot that matches the device (dpi and screen size are just extra information).
So in your case, you should be able to chose Nexus S (Nexus S has the wrong dimensions currently, I'll fix that in the next update).
You should now be able to use Nexus S.
It would be fantastic if you'll add Note 2...(N7100).

If somebody wants to provide the frames for that, I can put it in the app.
I was trying to find a thread that documented all the differences between launch software versions on different carriers vs. unlocked, developer editions and GpE devices but couldn't find it. I'll settle for just understanding the software differences between Verizon's M8 and the others. So far here's what I've seen but this is by no means an exhaustive list--feel free post any updated information.
Verizon HTC One (2014) - launch software (1.12.605.11)
Missing "Powered by Android" on boot
Missing "Power Saving Mode" (seems this can be enabled if rooted thanks to Mrbobrowitz: link)
Missing "Extreme Power Saving Mode"
EDIT: Missing option to block messages from specific senders in the stock Messages app (thanks deeznuts)
Missing enhancements from 1.54.x software (cut and paste from this thread):
System Improvements
Stability improvement
Call audio performance improvement
Connectivity
Bluetooth interoperability improvement
WiFi firmware update
Power Management
Power saving mode improvements
Camera
Fine tune Auto Focus
Video Highlights
Theme Improvement
UI Update
Photo Editor
Improvement to Foregrounder & Dimension Plus effects
Add Cut & Paste
Anything else we're missing on Big Red?
EDIT: FYI I do recall getting an update to HTC Service Pack via the Google Play Store--do we know whether any of the 1.54.x updates were delivered via HTC Service Pack?
It's also missing the stock text messaging app feature to block text messages. This is confirmed on International users so it is there, just not in our software version or maybe Verizon "hide" this feature as they have hidden others like power save mode which is included in our software, just hidden.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get S-off method before we get this update that other phones seemed to have on launch day

Hope so. ATT variant already has unlocked bootloaders, custom recovery, and perm root with a handful of custom roms already out. The good old ATT days, not so long ago.
when do you think we will get the update?

Personally i think we will get S-Off before Verizon even thinks of releasing this update. Probably before Verizon even considers this update from HTC. Which in theory, is not an update! Should have been shipped with this version like all the international devices were imo. IDK about what version the other US carriers have been seems pretty crappy to not get the same version across the board on release day like the rest of the world did.
Bump as I just received the 1.55.605.2 update from Verizon OTA today.

Yea what gives? I got a lower score too!
EDIT: after some time and with High Performance Mode turned on, im getting a score of 36657 but i still believe that im 10k pts lower than it should be before the update. i also notice batter life was affected a tad bit too.
Hi, everyone!
This is the 2° cycle of charge from 15% to 100% that my One does, and i want to know from you if this is a normal drain.
I use One with:
1) Auto Sync enable
2) Geo Localization enabled (only wi fi and mobile, not gps)

I see the Google battery drain going on. That's draining all of your battery and I have the same issue as well.

Looks pretty normal to me. 15% battery left with almost six hours screen time. You would easily get six hours screen time with 10% batter left.

It isn't normal. You're device has been kept awake the whole 11h in the first picture. If it is Google Play Services, try updating it or clearing the app's data (settings -> apps -> find GPS, click on it -> clear all data) and restart your phone.

This isn't right surely my phone gets way too hot as well and I'm only browsing social media so far I'm really not impressed with this phone as my sms texts crash too and I can't delete conversation or it takes way too long to open a conversation.
In the first screenshot what is your screen time?
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Probably not even an hour mate, it's ridiculous
Strange... Your phone came with Android 5.0.2 preinstalled? Now I see you're using 4g ... For example now I have 54% batterry with 2h 40 (music, web browsing on 3g+). I heard the Android 5 is a major battery drainer (especially if you re staying on 4g). Try to make a few full discharge/recharge cycles or try a hard reset.
For example I don't have a battery problem even that I'm running Android 5. But I've manually flashed it( from Android 4.4.4) . This is my usage for today:
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Ahh I see well I'm running the 5.04 I think, I can't update the software so im presuming it is the latest one, and sync where would I find this? Sorry I'm new to androids. You see yours is on about 50% and you can still get 10hours+ mine is on 67% at the moment and it's saying it won't last another 4 hours. I think I'll let it run completely dead them put it on charge
Settings->Accouts-> and uncheck auto-sync data. And about battery predictions they are not so accurate,at least at the first 1-2 weeks... Trust me this is a great phone in matter of battery just give it time. With proper settings and medium usage(4 h 30m screen time) you can get something like this:
This is my usage data that I had 2 weeks ago . Medium usage, web browsing,fb and some pictures .
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Ah I see, that's the dream right there lol. This is the second day im using it, it's lasted longer then it did yesterday but it's nowhere near yours lol. I really hope it adjusts it's self by the end of the week.
Also do you find you're phone becomes warm to hot just browsing the Web?!
Depends... On chrome after 20-30 min but I also listen music and it's not that hot . Also it's summer and the screen stays almost at maximum light and that heats it up too .
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
Is normal that Android System and Android OS use so much? I stayed on Facebook, I played NFS no limits, Twitter etc..

Yes, and no.
What FW are you using? what apps have you got running in the background, remember AndroidSystem, like it says ties into alot of other things running on the phone (included packages)
I am running official firmware from Samsung (Romania region) and the Android Security Patch is at 1 July 2016 . I never rooted or reinstalled the software. I have Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Hangouts, WhatsApp. These are my social and messaging apps.

After updating I had battery drain and reduced battery life, restarting the phone after every time I charge my phone fixed it for me. Just restart your phone after charging it to 100% and see if that will fix it.
Thank you. I will try this!
