I was trying to find a thread that documented all the differences between launch software versions on different carriers vs. unlocked, developer editions and GpE devices but couldn't find it. I'll settle for just understanding the software differences between Verizon's M8 and the others. So far here's what I've seen but this is by no means an exhaustive list--feel free post any updated information.
Verizon HTC One (2014) - launch software (1.12.605.11)
Missing "Powered by Android" on boot
Missing "Power Saving Mode" (seems this can be enabled if rooted thanks to Mrbobrowitz: link)
Missing "Extreme Power Saving Mode"
EDIT: Missing option to block messages from specific senders in the stock Messages app (thanks deeznuts)
Missing enhancements from 1.54.x software (cut and paste from this thread):
System Improvements
Stability improvement
Call audio performance improvement
Connectivity
Bluetooth interoperability improvement
WiFi firmware update
Power Management
Power saving mode improvements
Camera
Fine tune Auto Focus
Video Highlights
Theme Improvement
UI Update
Photo Editor
Improvement to Foregrounder & Dimension Plus effects
Add Cut & Paste
Anything else we're missing on Big Red?
EDIT: FYI I do recall getting an update to HTC Service Pack via the Google Play Store--do we know whether any of the 1.54.x updates were delivered via HTC Service Pack?
It's also missing the stock text messaging app feature to block text messages. This is confirmed on International users so it is there, just not in our software version or maybe Verizon "hide" this feature as they have hidden others like power save mode which is included in our software, just hidden.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get S-off method before we get this update that other phones seemed to have on launch day

Hope so. ATT variant already has unlocked bootloaders, custom recovery, and perm root with a handful of custom roms already out. The good old ATT days, not so long ago.
when do you think we will get the update?
Does att have the latest version?

Personally i think we will get S-Off before Verizon even thinks of releasing this update. Probably before Verizon even considers this update from HTC. Which in theory, is not an update! Should have been shipped with this version like all the international devices were imo. IDK about what version the other US carriers have been seems pretty crappy to not get the same version across the board on release day like the rest of the world did.
Bump as I just received the 1.55.605.2 update from Verizon OTA today.

Google is already testing its next Android KitKat update, according to a tweet posted by @LlabTooFeR,*who has accurately reported on the mobile industry in the past. The update, Android 4.4.3, allegedly carriers the build number KTU72B and may fix a number of things, but will reportedly also focus on a camera bug in the Nexus 5. That phone has been constantly knocked for having a mediocre camera, and earlier updates have tried to fix issues.
In fact, way back in December Google launched Android 4.4.1 which was supposed to clean up the Nexus 5 camera. It still isn’t quite up to snuff, however, and earlier this month Google promised that an update*with a fix for the camera was on the way. We think it’s also possible that Google could just issue an update for that specific phone, instead of dedicating an entire Android release for a single device, so it’s possible there are other performance enhancements and tweaks under the hood that we just don’t know about yet.
So far it sounds like Android 4.4.3 is relatively minor, which means you won’t have to fret if you’re picking up a new flagship that might not receive an update for many more months. The next major update probably won’t come until June, when Google may introduce it during its annual I/O developers conference.

Nice, that means that we can expect a new version in the repositories of CM, Omnirom etc. quite soon!

Im thinking (hoping) we will get a new camera app, Google acknowledged the Nexus 5 camera bug and maybe it's just a conspiracy theory of mine, but the New HTC One (M8) has a lot of camera features in sense , not to mention the depth sensor and they said they were working with google to support it on the Google Play Edition of the M8 , and this version just happens to be released in 2-3 weeks, you can just preorder it, what do you guys think?
Man they spit them out fast

Ha. You never know. Hopefully, we will see some awesome spike in camera performance... Not on the HTC One M8 level, but certainly a boost...
Now if only they could fix the Moto G camera... Hahaha.
Hope that this update makes the camera better, that is the only thing I think anyone could complain.
Sammobile just release a video of the new Lollipop Touchwiz (it bring the new ui for most of app) on our S4 :

Really awesome!! Love the new UI. So this means that we're going to skip 4.4.4 and go directly for 5.0?
Yes
Can anyone explain why the baseband would need to be hidden in the video?
AFAIK the baseband / kernel details have details about the terminal or user that built it. They probably don't want that going around on a leaked ROM.
Thanks OP for posting that, lovely to see they're building it for this device.
Yes but it will have a ultra secured bootloader...
Not sure if icon changes are there.camera icon still looks the old one and same is the phone and contacts..

Early 2015
Samsung should release a beta this month .... prevents bugs
Is this really samsung :')
the problem with letting the public have this rom early would be all of us on xda we like to tinker and we might make a fully working more optimised (considering its a beta lollipop) version that could be considered a daily driver
This is for i9500 just for now ...I9505 will be updated later
Btw. It seems s4 will stick with older version of weather app (non transparent one )
Unlucky 'Ultra Power Saving Mode' is not available in settings Why???
Well s4 wont probably get all the new stuff from s5/note 4 just basic new ui and maybe few addons...

So I picked up an FRD-L04 at Best Buy earlier in the week and it was running B144 already. I got an OTA update to B150 and here's the release notes.
FIXED:
GMS are the built-in non-AOSP Google branded apps, right? I didn't check before and after version numbers, but nothing was getting pushed from the Play Store or seems different so far.
The About Phone page still lists the current Google Security Update as September 1st. I was hoping it would be October's. Was it not actually September's update before? I heard the phone went from July -> September and I got mine with the September update already installed. So...?
OPTIMIZED:
The speaker seems maybe a little louder or clearer at maximum volume, but I haven't gotten to see how well I can hear it outside with lots of traffic yet where it seemed a little weak before.
In the dark my screen still seems to go to minimum brightness still which is too dark for my liking. Not the brightness itself maybe, but the Contrast or Gamma needs to be changed or adjustable as everything takes on a dull grey washed out look. Maybe the white level is too high? I haven't gotten to see how the auto-brightness works in direct sunlight yet, but I don't recall it going to the maximum setting when that was necessary to easily see the screen. I'd really like an sRGB mode option in a future update.
Other:
I'm pretty happy with the Honor 8, but some news on EMUI 5 and Nougat update ETAs or the option to sign up to test the betas would be nice. I already have excellent battery life, but a Doze feature that works while walking around would be great. Apps install and launch really fast already, but Nougat's supposed to improve that as well.
Anyone figured out what exactly is different or if anyone from Honor is reading this can you comment on the update schedule or any plans for public or limited pre-release testing?
Honor did a beta for MM on honor 7 and 5x, so I am sure it will do a nougat beta for honor 8

Hey man can you test if they fixed the issue that the caller doesn't hear you for the first 4-8 seconds of the call. Had two devices with this issue.
Wait what! I'm still on B141! How did you get 144? And now B150 hmm.....

I only made a few calls prior to the update and most were to my mom who has hearing problems. Testing now on an old 3G phone and my parent's landline I don't see any several delay before being able to be heard.

My mistake, I meant B141.
Edit: About the auto-brightness...it works! Going from outdoors in the sun to indoors to poorly lit indoors at work yesterday I didn't have to manually adjust the brightness. It was good this morning too in moderate light adjusting as needed. I'm going to try turning off the Dev option of better sunlight readability and see if that affects how the minimum brightness setting looks in the dark and in direct sunlight before work today.

I reported it once on the first initial one ui 3.0 and then again once I upgraded to ctl7, hopefully it gets fixed, but it doesn't seem like a priority to them. i actually just downgraded to 2.5 cause I hate the bugs they currently have.

Eventually is the time frame. Samsung took over a year to fix the Buds+ firmware. Lol not sure it's optimized even now and niether is Samsung
It probably will get fixed... eventually
Strange I'm not having this issue on mine at all. I got European version too but nordic one and my notification part is fine for me.

Samsung will substitute smaller chipsets and components during a production run if need be. Result is the firmware may not be compatible for those chipsets/components until the glitch is noticed and firmware updated to include them.
Add to that there are many variants of firmware because of different carriers and countries.
MY US based Watch 4 Non-LTE was just updated U1GVK7 update today 12/06/22 - Android Security Patch Level still on November 1, 2022
New Ball Watch face added, Stability codes applied to Notification + device behavior and the usual Stability and reliability updates.
Checked again for updates for my AT&T LTE Watch 4 Classic, but there's no update available. It is still at the U1GVH2 release.

One small enhancement that I noticed is that you don't have to navigate to the last page in order to "Close All" running apps. There is a small "Close All" bubble on the initial page.
Rec'd in Australia
Got it in eastern US.
I received it yesterday for my watch 4 classic
Mine didn't notify me until today. Just told it to install. Didn't seem to break anything (but haven't used it yet). It did the typical restart into the loading firmware screen (gears), rebooted, startup stuff/etc. After that, the "Galaxy Wearable" app on the phone asked for an update. So I approved that. Everything still seemed normal.
And then, when I woke the watch up again to play with it, it popped up "Updating Watch" and "copying update". A second update??? Waited for the download. Then it asked about updating now or overnight, I told it go ahead, and it went through the whole thing again??? Reboot, gears, progress indicator, reboot, startup. I have never seen that behavior before.
Maybe your update fail...
Check if you are really on new "numbers"...
*#1234#
Or look into About Watch...
Best Regards
It really must have been two.... looks like I am on an even newer version than what is listed here. Now on R890XXU1GVK7
