I have a black Nexus 5 and it has soft touch rubber on the sides of the device. It also has a rubber lip at the very edge of the screen all the way around it.
I know the white Nexus 5 does not have soft rubber on the sides. Does the white Nexus 5 have this same rubber lip on the edge of the screen?

It's has a lip, but it's plastic not rubber.
I'm starting to wonder if the white nexus 5 is slightly thinner than the black version.
What makes you wonder if the white one is thinner?

I wonder if we could swap the shiny plastic bezel with the soft touch? If we could find the part that is.
My question is why did Google opt for this bad shiny plastic? It is not a HUGE deal, just something that I don't understand. Google could just have easily added the soft sides.

Well from the looks of it, this is the case that a lot of people have been waiting for. Judging from the pictures, it appears to be made of TPU for the front lip and bezel area, but what makes this case special is the back of the case is hard transparent plastic. The perfect way to show off the awesome backside of the N4 without sacrificing protection! To me it literally looks like my Diztronic TPU case with a plastic back side. The case is listed as "coming soon" , and here is the link:
https://www.rearthusa.com/google-nexus-4-hybrid-fusion-case
IMO this may be the case to rule all cases....

I just bought this case. http://www.amazon.com/BasalCase-Nex...=1359213533&sr=1-1&keywords=basalcase+nexus+4
Depending on how I like this one and how well everybody else likes the Rearth, I'll probably be picking one up so I can have a different color.
OP you rock!

I will be purchasing this case as soon as it becomes available and once it arrives I will be writing an in depth review .

I own that exact case. I really really like it and my only complaint as with most white cases its starting to get a Lil yellow tint on the corners of it all the way around. But I work in a refinery so its mostly my fault.

The case looks PIMP. Thanks OP !!
this is the perfect case!
Waited for this sort of case for a long time and will definitely get it. But the one thing I suspect is, like current crystal clear hard plastic cases, the back will likely stick to any sort of rear protector and cause the sticky wet look.
I like this one. Not a fan of the clear back material but it will probably feel better in hand. Thanks op

No I don't think so. The back looks like hard plastic not tpu material

Even hard plastic can stick to rear protectors if it's of the glossy, "crystal clear" variant that is extremely easy to scratch, which is what I'm assuming this one will end up having. I know because I had a crystal clear case before on my Nexus 4, and the reason I got rid of it was because it stuck to my rear Spigen protector (it was also just cheaply made and had tons of stress cracks upon arrival).
If it had a matte frosted clear back, then it wouldn't stick. But it'd also block the glittering effect, making it no different than the other generic TPU/clear back hybrid cases already on Ebay.
Ive emailed them about an estimated eta and what materials its made out of.

Hey guys,
I got the chance to review this case and made the video as usual. It is very thin, very light, however I am not comfortable leaving the top and bottom exposed.
Here it is! If you have any questions please just let me know
http://youtu.be/KIRwjBtI7L4
Just slapped mine on, like the raised corners for face down safety but agree the front of the top and bottom are pretty exposed. Nice fit and what I was looking for though. Nice review

whiel i like how slim it is. on mine, even with it face down, it'll wobble and it seems the screen is still touching because it slides soo easily like it does without the case.
the case without the phone doesn't wobble and it doesn't slide easily. maybe i have crooked one? doesn't feel like it though since there's no squeaking with the case on.
Just got mine and I'm liking it a lot, all we need is a case exactly like this one but covers the top and bottom as well, but yea this one is very nice
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Odd I put mine face down in the dark and can see light all the way around except the corners. I am fairly positive it's not touching screen. The second case I got isn't as good of a fit though it is loose on the volume rocker side.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I've had mine for a week or so.
Pros:
Thin
Light
Cons:
Moves around too much directly over the volume controls. Not enough material there to be stiff enough so it tends to flex in that area.
There's an annoying ridge around the edge closest to the screen. Sort of like a line for the mold used to form the plastic. This makes it feel cheap.
I've got the "Ringke Fusion" case on order and hoping I like that better. If so, this one may be going back.
-Brett.
I was just wondering...to address the 'top and bottom bezel uncovered' issue, could we not apply one of those full body shield protectors, i.e those that protect the sides? Or would the case not fit with that on?

That'll protect from scratches but not from impact

I have this case and love it. I don't like to put cases on my phones but wanted to protect the glasses back so I got this. Protects the back while barely being noticeable, which is perfect for my tastes.

Got this case a couple days ago in white. So far so good. Thin and low profile. Dropped the phone yesterday, hit the corner and not a scratch or crack on the phone.
To those who have this case on, is it a snug fit or kind of lose? I'm asking because I just received the Spigen SGP Slim and it has a lose fit. Like you could shake it softly and feel the phone sliding around..kind of disappointed and if the Ringke Slim is snug, then I'm considering ordering that.

Mine is fit, and I actually have hard time taking it off the phone.

Man..I knew I should of ordered from Rearth instead since I had the slim case for the Gnex...thanks for the response. Haha

probably the tightest snuggiest case. IT's a b*tch to take off. Can nick the phone w/my fingernail trying to remove the case hence why I've been rocking it naked the past week..
Correct fitment is pretty tight . but I think this also makes it barely noticeable

I got my navy blue Ringke Slim (version 2) this morning and although the fit is superb and getting it back off if a challenge i am a little cheesed off that "soft touch" doesn't equate to grip like it would on a Case Mate Barely There.
Great case but i am tempted to put my 95p S Line jobbie back on.
Cheapo case back on and the Ringke Slim sold on, it needs to be more grippy.
what is the lightest case for our n4? i have a nillkin frosted case but it added a significant weight to it. so significant that i strained my pinky that supports the phone when i hold it with one hand. i would go naked but i place my phone on the table often so i want to protect it atleast from scratches at the back glass. thanks

I can say Poetic Borderline.
Rearth Slim or Hybrid.
Definitely Rearth Slim...
Get a dbrand skin protects the back from all kinds of scratches.

This works great. However, in my case it eventually started to peel just enough to about me. So I put my bunker back on also so there's no way to peel at the edges.

I always thought I was really careful with my phone but it seems I just scratched my HTC one's aluminum back. Not sure what, but I'm gonna go with keys.
How would you guys consider the durability of the nexus 5?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
The back on the white is REALLY hard to see scratches on. The durability is meh. Plastic body means more smooshing of plastic if it drops, but that also means less chance of a cracked screen. Overall though I love my white n5.

Hello, I have a Nexus 5 black version.
The phone is great but I have scratches in the rubber material. Can I repair it? I tried to paint the spot with matte black but I can see the difference.
Thank you.
You can't repair it. But you can cover it with a skin...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Anyone know if you can just rub the rubber coat off? I might consider that in the future if my N5 gets scratched up pretty bad.

You can always buy a brand new "OEM" back cover for about $30. Check online and see.

its not rubber, its rubberized plastic.
