How's the durability of the back side? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I always thought I was really careful with my phone but it seems I just scratched my HTC one's aluminum back. Not sure what, but I'm gonna go with keys.
How would you guys consider the durability of the nexus 5?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

The back on the white is REALLY hard to see scratches on. The durability is meh. Plastic body means more smooshing of plastic if it drops, but that also means less chance of a cracked screen. Overall though I love my white n5.

Was just about to post this as well. Got their email and they are on discount right now and ordered as well.

Yep, already ordered.
Guess I have to buy this phone now lol
To my fellow UK buyers, the total protection is £7.23 ish after international postage and currency conversion. (Via PayPal)

Thanks for this, wasn't going to have a cover but the feel a little worried about the glass on the back
How's the overall quality of their body protectors and screen protector? Orange peel, screen degradation, etc? I'm think of picking up their whole kit and just a bumper for my N4

What i dont like about this brand is that you use liquid soap to apply them wth, you put liquid soap on your device´s screen? that can´t be right
Do they ship to europe?
Yeah I never understood the soap thing.I still have the spray from my zagg so I'm just gonna use that
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You don't actually put soap on your phone, its in the water then rinsed out.
Even though you can't see the soup once rinsed out,
It makes the water have a slight oily substance which helps to cure the skin and helps to apply it.

Ima order one. Never used this brand but it will have to do .

Do these skins cover it all? With the glass I need it on both glass surfaces at minimum. I would also like the sides covered as well. Does this company or any other cover that? Soft touch is great but I baby my devices. Having that extra bit of protection and cushion could mean the difference between getting a crack or not in a small fall.

Fit is nice. But After a while the screen starts the crater and look crappy.

I never had issues with BSE. I tried almost all the other types of skins but I always seem to find myself coming back to their product.

Can you elaborate more? , I don't fully understand
, what do you mean you rinse the water, I know what rinse is but rinsing the water makes no sense to me, sorry English is not my main language
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
What he means is that soap is not directly applied to the phone. It is diluted in water then the solution is sprayed to the skin. The amount of soap needed is very small. It is just enough to make the solution slippery so that when the skin is applied, you can slide it over the device for adjustment.

BSE is good quality, but it has orange peel effects like Zagg and others. I'd suggest something like XO Skins or Skinomi for the screen, as they don't have that problem.
Just ordered one. I use BSE on my HOX and it's fantastic, minimal orange peel effect and feels smooth to the touch. Much better than Zagg or Skinomi imo, I've not tried XO.
Xo is a good company... fast shipping etc but their skins are very rubbery. I'd rather have a little orange peel than have my finger stick. I had that on my nexus 7 and even after a couple months it didn't go away.
I ordered from bse but have never used them before. They claim to have changed their film for 2012 to make it feel better, apply easier, etc. How is their fit?

Fit is good. Still have mine on the gnex.

Just ordered the full package. Hope the phone doesnt get all scratched up before this gets here :/ Reviews are saying the back scratches like a b*tch.
Think I'll get the skins, first reading the title I laughed out loud 'four skins' faux pas or just my British sense of humour

Rearth Ringke slim REVIEW

Hey guys,
I got the chance to review this case and made the video as usual. It is very thin, very light, however I am not comfortable leaving the top and bottom exposed.
Here it is! If you have any questions please just let me know
http://youtu.be/KIRwjBtI7L4
Just slapped mine on, like the raised corners for face down safety but agree the front of the top and bottom are pretty exposed. Nice fit and what I was looking for though. Nice review
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
whiel i like how slim it is. on mine, even with it face down, it'll wobble and it seems the screen is still touching because it slides soo easily like it does without the case.
the case without the phone doesn't wobble and it doesn't slide easily. maybe i have crooked one? doesn't feel like it though since there's no squeaking with the case on.
Just got mine and I'm liking it a lot, all we need is a case exactly like this one but covers the top and bottom as well, but yea this one is very nice
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Odd I put mine face down in the dark and can see light all the way around except the corners. I am fairly positive it's not touching screen. The second case I got isn't as good of a fit though it is loose on the volume rocker side.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I've had mine for a week or so.
Pros:
Thin
Light
Cons:
Moves around too much directly over the volume controls. Not enough material there to be stiff enough so it tends to flex in that area.
There's an annoying ridge around the edge closest to the screen. Sort of like a line for the mold used to form the plastic. This makes it feel cheap.
I've got the "Ringke Fusion" case on order and hoping I like that better. If so, this one may be going back.
-Brett.
I was just wondering...to address the 'top and bottom bezel uncovered' issue, could we not apply one of those full body shield protectors, i.e those that protect the sides? Or would the case not fit with that on?

I have this case and love it. I don't like to put cases on my phones but wanted to protect the glasses back so I got this. Protects the back while barely being noticeable, which is perfect for my tastes.

Got this case a couple days ago in white. So far so good. Thin and low profile. Dropped the phone yesterday, hit the corner and not a scratch or crack on the phone.
To those who have this case on, is it a snug fit or kind of lose? I'm asking because I just received the Spigen SGP Slim and it has a lose fit. Like you could shake it softly and feel the phone sliding around..kind of disappointed and if the Ringke Slim is snug, then I'm considering ordering that.

Mine is fit, and I actually have hard time taking it off the phone.

Man..I knew I should of ordered from Rearth instead since I had the slim case for the Gnex...thanks for the response. Haha

probably the tightest snuggiest case. IT's a b*tch to take off. Can nick the phone w/my fingernail trying to remove the case hence why I've been rocking it naked the past week..
Correct fitment is pretty tight . but I think this also makes it barely noticeable

I got my navy blue Ringke Slim (version 2) this morning and although the fit is superb and getting it back off if a challenge i am a little cheesed off that "soft touch" doesn't equate to grip like it would on a Case Mate Barely There.
Great case but i am tempted to put my 95p S Line jobbie back on.
Cheapo case back on and the Ringke Slim sold on, it needs to be more grippy.

N5 cases from Google?

Anyone have any clue when the release will be for these cases?

Some people already have them, there were on sale for a few mins then taken down
I want a yellow one

I have the grey plastic case from google. The materials used feel nice, but I would definitely not recommend it. In fact if I hadn't immediately thrown away the packaging I would have returned it.
It's very bulky. If you lay the phone down on its back the sides of the case taper from bottom to top. its much wider towards the rear of the phone.
Also, the cutouts for the buttons are terrible. They really aren't even cutouts, no recessions for the buttons to fit inside the case for a nice clicky feel. Very mushy. Not worth it at the premium price, or even for a $6.99 temporary case from amazon.
I can't wait to throw it away.
Wow that's a kick in the ya know. I want a case that doesn't counter or has the nexus word on the back. Uggh

The OEM LG Nexus 5 cases are a total fail. We are coming from a high quality Nexus 4 bumper case that was engineered almost to perfection to this crud? What a step backwards.
What about the Nexus 5 accessories topic?

Who goes completely naked?!

Completely naked screen protector and case. How long have you been naked (;. And any bad experiences with being naked? (;

ive never used a screen protector or case on any device and never had any issues
I usually go bare, but, this Spigen Neo Hybrid was far too tempting from Amazon. Minus the size increase, I don't mind it at all.
Sometimes I do end up taking it out for a day or so.
I have the slim armor and ultra hybrid. But I took it all off. And I'm pure now.

I bought and use a Caseology case after a scare where I forgot the phone was on my leg in a truck. I opened the door and the phone landed face down on the cement. I got so lucky because I only have a few dings in the corners but it was scary as hell. I hate having a case but I'm clearly too incompetent to not use one.

Just having something to lift the screen a tiny bit off the ground can make a huge difference.
Went about 3 weeks naked though I had the nexus branded screen protector on for half that time but I constantly felt like I had to baby the device.Put a case and protector on and you can use it like a normal phone again. It does suck not having the same sleek features of course.
Not 2 days after using the case my phone fell out of my jacket pocket while hanging off a chair. Short fall and onto wood so wouldn't of been a huge deal but it was face down.
Naked all day:good:

Ditto here. 12 phones and counting, not a single problem.
Naked is so good on the screen. Feels so good. Plus its less grease and the oleo phobic coating is hot.

For those who don't keep a case on, are you noticing any scratches on your camera lens? I've been afraid to leave mine out of the case due to the camera that sticks out a little
completely nude, all my devices all the time. i even had my nexus 4 completely nude, and it has a glass back. no scratches on the screens, on all my devices.

Smartphones are not designed for putting them in ugly cases
--> naked (and so is the phone)
i was without case for 2 weeks and i was scared so much i hate it when the nexus without its case this device is very sensetive you know [:
naked here too, i've had it 2 weeks and no marks or scratches so far. today i dropped it (...for the first time) on the floor tiles from table height, it fell head down and fortunately no damage at all.. i wish i had a case when i saw the phone falling tho!
birthday suit for about 2 weeks now.

Rubber material scratches

Hello, I have a Nexus 5 black version.
The phone is great but I have scratches in the rubber material. Can I repair it? I tried to paint the spot with matte black but I can see the difference.
Thank you.
You can't repair it. But you can cover it with a skin...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Anyone know if you can just rub the rubber coat off? I might consider that in the future if my N5 gets scratched up pretty bad.

You can always buy a brand new "OEM" back cover for about $30. Check online and see.

its not rubber, its rubberized plastic.
