lightest case - Nexus 4 Accessories

what is the lightest case for our n4? i have a nillkin frosted case but it added a significant weight to it. so significant that i strained my pinky that supports the phone when i hold it with one hand. i would go naked but i place my phone on the table often so i want to protect it atleast from scratches at the back glass. thanks

I can say Poetic Borderline.

Rearth Slim or Hybrid.

Definitely Rearth Slim...

Get a dbrand skin protects the back from all kinds of scratches.

This works great. However, in my case it eventually started to peel just enough to about me. So I put my bunker back on also so there's no way to peel at the edges.

Diztronic Hardshell Case VIDEO+WRITTEN REVIEW

Nexus 4 Diztronic Hardshell Case Review
$9.99- Amazon Link
$9.99- Diztronic Link
Design
5/5
First of all, this case is EXTREMELY thin. It's only 1mm thin, making it 25% thinner than the original TPU case. The back has a non glossy Diztronic logo on it and a slot cut open for the camera and speakers. It is a bit slippery, but won't catch lint on it or attract finger prints. Unlike other shell cases, this one isn't hard to take in and out. However, you definitely want to take it out periodically to make sure debris doesn't get caught in it and scratch the case. The edges of the case just barely go over the screen making a bit of a "lip". The lip is barely there and you may be able to fit a screen protector on it. The buttons are left exposed on the case making pressing the power button and volume rockers very easy.
Protection
4/5
This case does a decent job at protecting the phone while still keeping a thin profile. The top and bottom of the case are left somewhat vulnerable, yet I understand how it would be tough to cover that part while making the case a "hardshell". Keep in mind this case is only 1mm thick, so I'm grading the protection based on the case's target audience.
Final Verdict
4.5/5
This may be the thinnest case to ever hit the market. At $9.95 you get a lot of bang for your buck; this is a high quality case made with premium materials. You can tell Diztronic took the time to make sure they got everything right. This case is so thin you won't even notice it while still giving you some protection.
Great reviews. Thanks for taking the time to post these.

No problem. I really enjoy making these videos anyway.
What would you prefer? This one or the TPU one?

That's a tough question. If protection is more important than go for the TPU. Honestly, they're both great; I just can't decide.
Protection is very important as I tend to screw up sometimes diztronic ones seem to be the best ones available right now. So, what do you suggest? I know the TPU one is pretty awesome too!

Do you also have the Ringke slim case and would you mind doing a comparison if you do?

Why else would you get a phone case if protection wasn't your primary reason

Screen protector with Diztronic case - Nexus 4

Do not know it has been asked before or not...
I am using XG screen protector on Nexus 4 with Diztronic case, to be honest it feels rubbery and struggling on the edges. Sometimes it does come off because of the case. Now hunting for new screen protection. Happy with case though.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah you need either a case fit wet application or a dry application.
I recommend SGP ultra olephobic. Using that with my diztroniz and it works great

Does the SGP screen protector goes up to the edges and wet application?? How much it is in UK?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Case optimized screen protectors do not cover the edges. Also it's dry application

Will any protectors which do not cover the edges do the job? There are good reviews for Terripan on Amazon...

Halo HD screen protectors have been my favorite. I've gone through quite a bit.

No does not go up to edges.
I'm using SGP ultra crystal with my poetic bumper and I also have a ringke hybrid fusion case ..and the sp is really great with both.
Does not lift. Not a single scratch yet.

Wait does this mean that XtremeGuard + Diztronic TPU case isn't a good match?
I didn't quite understand what you didn't like about it. Are you saying the edges of the screen protector start peeling?
Yes it has starting peeling from top with case on....

Damn! Thanks for the reply. I'll look at other case / screen guard combinations then.
Just checked out Acase Superleggera Pro Case, and that seems just as good as the Diztronic. Will this peel off the screen guard too?
To answer the question: I have the Gadgetshieldz optimized screen protector. They peel a little bit with my Diztronic and Acase. The Rinke fusion doesn't have this problem.

I've been using XtremeGuard screen protector with my diztronic tpu since I got my nexus 4.. its fine for the most part. Check the ditronic case thread and the xtremeguard protector thread for other peoples experiences. As long as you get the edges of the screen protector under the edges of the case it actually holds the protector on pretty well. I think i put mine on slightly low so sometimes ( once every few weeks ) one of the corners starts peeling a little from moving around.. I just lift it up and push it back under with my fingernail.. or you can take it out and put it back in.. also gives an opportunity to clean the dust out from the case..

Incipio Dualpro hard shell case with silicone core

Not a fan. The silicone is flimsy and our doesn't really cover the lip of the phone that well. Horrible case imo

I have one that I bought from tmobile and I love the case I accidentally dropped my phone from 3-4 feet and it saved my Gs4 totally. Nice case I just meed a screen protector any recommendations?price is no problem. Thanks

It's a minimal dual layer, I have one for my gs3, as well as an otterbox. The otterbox has more protection but you gain mass and heft. I like the incipio because it is slim but still offers good protection
I actually had this one on my phone and was paying for it in the store but I scrubbed the purchase before I could even check out. I think it looks really nice and will probably give good drop protection, but the flimsy silicone would drive me crazy. When you push the side buttons the silicone would buckle. The silicone in the top and bottom didn't fit snugly. JMO. Like I said I looked the way it looked. It was the brushed aluminum dual pro shine with black silicone. Just not snug enough of a fit for me.

I saved my phone from a 6 ft fall right onto the hard floor.I guess some people just dont know cases.

I have had this case on my S4 since I got the phone thru verizon, about 10 days . Black on black. I wanted a slim case with decent drop protection. This was a good compromise. The soft inner core does over lap on to the front of the screen a bit, wich is good as I can lay the phone face down without damaging the screen. The soft rubber inner core does attract lint where it is exposed, but I expected that.
so far I am happy with the case. But, I have not dropped it .....yet...

Bumper Case or Full Back Case

Hi Guys,
Do you think thr bumper case for Nexus 4 is good compare to full back case ?
I am currently using Capdase Touch case as shown on the link
http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=23&mid=3737&pid=34328
However i really love the looks og nexus 4 and dont want to cover the beauty but i also want to protect the device.
To the nexus 4 users who have this dumper case, pls give your comment.
Thanks.

as far as i know a case weakens the signal.
Bumper + dbrand skin ftw :good:
Well a bumper will pretty much just protect the screen and back from laying flat on the ground and a full back case will protect from falls. If you want a little more protection I recommend the full back case

Ringke fusion sounds like the way to go for you. I have both. I am currently on the bumper and dbrand custom skin setup.
I also have the ringke fusion and its good.

This is false.

dbrand back and bumper vs full case

as of right now I'm using the ringke fusion case but I'm not liking the bulky size, how easily broken is the back when it comes to bumper plus the skin for antiscratch or suck it up and use the case?
also can anyone recommend thinner case for the n4?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
If you want true see through case you only have the rinkle and the bumper
If your not looking for true see through look for some transparent tpu cases out this plastic ones
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have the black leather d band skin and a poetic black bumper. Looks great. Prevents scratches. I rarely drop my phone, and when I have I felt the bumper defiantly helped from scuffing up the sides. I hate cases. Hopefully the n5 will not be do fragile, so in can go naked like I normally do.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
all though the bumper will add width to the device.. if you have small hands it might be an issue, like it did for me lol. Ive been wanting to try the poetic bumper but cant seem to find on amazon nor ebay, the color i want that is.
Also, the back is not drop protected with the dbrand skin, even tho you wont see it if its cracked either. So its a win win
