Reboot in recovery.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Go in Advanced and do Wipe Dalvik Cache
Restore Stock Rom
Did you backup your stock rom using Rom manager ?

We can't flash that on the official OTA because there isn't a working custom recovery.

didn't read it was via ota. Try to use adb sideload
I made it (OTA US Global) NO REPACK / OFFICIAL OTA
The bootloader is the problem (you need to flash the 4.3 boot loader)
The steps:
1. Flash bootloader.img of android 4.3 (us global)
2. Boot to the custom recovery from your PC (mfastboot boot recovery.img) I tried to flash but get an error (boot failed)
3. Install superSU zip from the recovery
4. Enjoy
Thx for some user who gave me the idea
(Sorry for my bad english)

Can somebody write a comprehensive guide for root on official 4.4.2? I have never dealt with any of the stuff mentioned. My old Sammy was just CWM and go... Not bootloader or anything...
Edit: Sorry, jumped the gun. Didn't see the thread for it

Hi!
I managed to compile ClockworkMod for GPE.
The main difference is the type of userdata partition. While Moto G 'normal' version uses f2fs as userdata filesystem, Google Play Edition uses ext4 as userdata filesystem. With this recovery you be able to install files from internal memory.

So you don't need to skip modem partition, but need to select fsg partition between fsg_intl.img and fsg_gpe.img.
fsg_gpe is a original dump and fsg_intl is a modified one (by me) to work outside usa, based on fsg_gpe. After change fsg partition remember to erase modemst1 and modemst2.
So , this will work on any device... Single Sim... ??

The interface is the same as in classic CWM, but besides volume and power buttons, you can control it by swipes.

What command did you use in fastboot ? Are your bootloader in unlocked ?
I have unlocked bootloader ..
Enviado de meu MotoG3 usando Tapatalk
try just booting without installing...
$ fastboot boot recovery.img
If that doesn't work, reflash the whole factory image suite
I have just tried starting the recovery and the same mistake. And already I passed the original rom again and continues this error.

Are you sure you have the right rom for the model you have? There are MANY MANY different variations, and every single one gets its own factory image.
Also, if stock recovery is installing but TWRP won't, try redownloading twrp. It may have corrupted during download.

Are you sure the factory image you have is for the exact same model moto g3 you have??? like i said, there are variations between every single region and ram configuration.
Also, try another usb cable...I've had some seriously weird stuff happen with one cable, then I switch to another one and it works fine.
The first time I installed RECOVERY TWRP was first had no problem was after I took RECOVERY TWRP and instlaei the manufactures
