Thanks for paying attention to what the OP asked and contributing meaningful information to this thread.
Now can someone on JB who used to get the crash post their experience? This is one of the things that is keeping me on ICS.

Update... I updated to viper jellybean so I could achieve s-off... Did that successfully, received the maps update today and navigated this afternoon without crashing. Not sure what caused the success, but prior it would crash on me.

I had been having ridiculously high battery usage from maps even without using it, as GSAm battery monitor had been showing (Must have app, btw). Now with the update, apparently this has been fixed. My phone seems to last much longer and maps uses about 1% of battery when it used about 40%.

Tried Gsam not quite sure what it does that Android already have does not. In fact, it claimed that my screen has not consumed any power in the past few hours, but the number one power drained was by my browser. Go figure.
Re: maps got an update
Finally rooted and installed ViperXL last weekend. Google Nav crashed within 30 seconds of starting. Tried it 5-6 more times since with the same results. Maps was updated to latest version. Still having the crashing, but now crashes within 10 seconds of starting. Interestingly, the voice guidance still continues to give directions after Maps has crashed.
Hi, since a few days ago, a battery drain started to appear, the phone is almost always awake and no deepsleep. In the settings menu it shows that Android system is responsible, and batterystats says powermanagerservice...
So where can I find this service, and investigate what went wrong all of a sudden. Didn't have such problems before, and only changes are I started to use the network localisation service(without wifi) and had viber, which i just removed.
Any ideas how to fix?

if you are rooted you can get rid of this power management thing.
you can delete the htcpowermanagement.apk/odex in system/apps.
This is the easiest thing to do. But i want to find out the reason of this sudden misbehaviour. Thanks.

strange. did you tried a factory reset?
I still hope to avoid it
I think of getting some log info, when this happens again. This morning, after unplugging the charger, just checked mail, browsing and tapatalk, and the phone remained awake. Now sleeps like a baby, but already lost 10% from this, and the cpu was stuck at 300mhz during the awake period...

Anyone out there who have issues with mediaserver draining too much battery? Last night i charged my phone till it reach 90% then i wake up and it dropped at 72%. When i checked the battery usage in settings, mediaserver is 6 hrs kept awake.. also in GSam, mediaserver is responsible with the drain. I know i've read somewhere here in One S forum about this but i couldn't find the exact thread.. does it have a fix? Thank you.

Just got my Nexus 5 after having a Nexus 4 for approximately a year. This is my third or fourth cycle and out of nowhere I'm getting a horrid amount of wakelocks. I usually run Google Now, and have without issue (battery wise) for months and months (at least on my N⁴ running 4.2/.3 AND 4.4). I had Google now on for the first half of the day but it had nearly 80% of battery usage and kept my phone awake relentlessly. Upon shutting it off a few hours ago,I'm still experiencing terrible drain. Can someone give me some insight? I've already rebooted multiple times, cleared cache in Play Services/play store/Google search, etc.
The battery is down to about 30% at 2:30 pm with very little sot (less than an hour) unplugged at 7am at almost 90%. At this point on a regular day I'd have 80% remaining with the same usage on my Nexus 4
Check my screenshots for the bbs stats. These wakelocks are mostly unfamiliar to me.
Thanks in advance for any help.
PS: running latest version of Cataclysm and FK r14.

Between that and and always on Google Now, seems to be most of the problem.
OK Google is a battery hogging gimmick. It has zero real world purpose. Use Nova/Apex/Action Launcher.

Battery is so bad I'm about to go charge up my old Nexus 4 and use that until this issue is sorted out. At least that won't die on me for a while and I can actually use all the gimmicky goodies.
Even shutting off EVERYTHING on this phone (mobile data, sync, low brightness, Google now, location, device manager, OK Google, etc.) does nothing to improve battery longevity.

Turn off the key sounds and vibration. That should take care of the audioin.
Ps, how did you get bbs to work on 4.4? I'm using the rc's but can't get bbs to have root privileges
I have the same problem too. It all started with the Google now update.

And it just works for me, I'm using RC5 at the moment and going into advanced settings and enabling root works fine on my end.

Is your wifi on during sleep? I'm experiencing really bad standby battery drain IF I leave my Wifi on, but if I use mobile data I end up getting excellent battery life (down from 8-12% / hr to 0.5-1% / hr) Really strange...

Try the reverse then?
Have you Google the "event" wake lock?
Have you tried a (what may seem drastic but actually is not) factory reset?

I had similar problems losing at least 5% an hour most of the time, but in the end I returned the phone to google. Maybe I will buy one again later while this gets all sorted.

Ok, did a little research on my phone. Turn off the "ok Google" thing in the Google search bar, just change your language to English UK. That'll get rid of the audio in and a lot if the other stuff.
I think its the new Google search update, I had this issue since the update and uninstalled the updates in the apps section and the problem has gone away.

I just wiped the phone and installed a new ROM and kernel (PSX and Linaro FK 13). Let's see if the problem resolves itself. Will update at the end of today! Thanks everyone for the help but it seems as if Google needs to fix this problem on their end. Me having to constantly wipe/reset/reboot/shut off features/etc. my phone just to get it to function properly is a great annoyance.

Well, the same thing happens with pretty much every 4.4 rom I install on my Nexus 4. The only way I was able to fix this craziness is installing Matrix kernel. I have a feeling its some kind of conflict with superuser. My battery was reporting screen on all the time for some reason. And yes, my locations have been turned off and left on GPS only

Hopefully this will fix it for you. It seemed like from the screen shots the app better battery status or whatever it was you were using to analyze your phones state had a lot of wakelocks itself.
If you still have issues I'd try a different app to analyze the problem tho. I still havn't even bothered to root mine yet I'm hitting around 75% after 20 hrs.
if you use the following in combo w/ greenify it helped me huge on my old phone.

Hi, think im about 2 weeks into my ownership of my N5, and over tha last few days ive noticed that the battery seems to drain far quicker now than previously. For example, my phone was 100% when I unplugged it at 8am this morning, and at 12: you can see the drain with very light use. I notice android is using a lot? Is this normal?
Any tips etc?
Thanks
i also have this problem, since 4.4.1 update Android OS is draining a lot

I have a new "winner" in the battery drain category - this morning, I looked at mine & "Exchange Service" is now #2 on the list when I tap on the Battery.
Can I say, let's see what 4.4.3 is going to bring in terms of fixes & breaking more ...
Well, whatever it was, a factory reset resolved It! Been running sweet since i reset the old girl.
I've been having issues for a week now with Android Os/Kernel killing my battery. Just figured out in my case, it was having the "Enable Battery Stats" module in Xposed. Been running it for a few hours and everything but this Damn Audiomix wakelock seems good

google search would normally be up there, it also includes the launcher plus other things. you use googles launcher dont you? the play store and calandar storage is being used too often.
Did this issue appear in the last weak or so? I'm encountering the same issue, it drives me nuts.
Using same apps as usual, no gaming and still my battery drain is far worse than before. I have even disabled Google Now and Location all together.
Installed GSAM now to analyze the stats, nothing unusual in Android battery stats compared to the stats I had before.

I wouldn't necessarily say my drain is bad, but yeah google play services did start showing up for me the past two days. I think it might be because of the google search update. Could be from the parking location feature.

the play services showed up on mine as well, 2 or 3 days ago. my phone normally sleeps better than a knocked out baby, but since the play services showed up, i see it wake every few minutes on my battery usage chart(draining some extra battery). been changing my permissions not allowing anything to wake my device, but it still does.

It could be that mine doesn't usually sleep that well that I'm not seeing a huge difference. Speaking of permissions though, I actually made it so G+ can't wake the device because I don't use it, and it still wakes it sometimes.
Try gsam from play store. And if rooted....gsam root companion as well.
Do a full charge, 100 to low....no reboots. Then print a few gsam screens. The main screen, app screen, and in app screen.... Click the drop down and screenshot time held awake and kernel Wakelocks. Also, maybe "screen" screen and radio screen.
I know its a lot, but between all these your issue should show up.
Tho....if you have terrible signal ever while on data....that will crush your battery.
Good luck!!

You're battery calibrates every time you charge it. No need to do anything else.
I'm noticing more than the normal amount of "suddenly my battery is draining" threads. Seems to coincide with the update to Google Search. I also noticed my battery draining itself with nothing being reported in the battery page last night but a reboot put an end to it as usual.
