well sort of... it's really kind of sad
https://www.facebook.com/sonymobile/posts/10151999772368390
they gave me the same answer, no response when i mentioned the lack of watch faces and not being able to set the screen timeout
Sony = a waste of time, so it seems, sadly
You should change the misleading title to 'Sonys usual, treat the user like they dont know how to turn the watch on' response.
Rather than answering the clear question regarding missing features that were advertised.
well... Sony broke me down, sold the SW2 on craigslist tonight and bought a pebble.. been happier with this after an hour of ownership that the last 6 months combined trying to finagle the mn2 and sw2 to do what I wanted.
Goodbye Sony.
I am also going to sell it... This is frustrating...

Thats the point; I certainly have had no sensible responses from Sony support, just generic fob offs.
I'm sticking with it for a little longer, in the hope they open the sw2 to devs...
I wish I was more tech savvy. I would totally dev this

Sony should just open up the firmware, they'd sell a lot more of those watches
i mean, what do they care what we do with those watches, as long as they can sell them
Well.. Sony's support is really lackluster. What did I do? I bought a galaxy gear, rooted and installed the null rom, and now i can do so much more compared to my Smartwatch 2 could ever do. Just wondering if i should sell it or not, I still like its design and would like to see improvements from Sony.
still absolutely digging the pebble... and best part? i can actually look forward to the 2.0 firmware coming out

way too much bezel on those. Plus the screen doesn't fit in with the overall look of the watches. And I think their user interface is going to be more of a hindrance. I don't see why all these companies seem to think gesture-based user interfaces are 'intuitive' and 'natural like'.
I really thought Sony would get it right this time when they were showing the Smartwatch 2 before release. But it looks like they screwed the pooch yet again. At least Samsung is consistently improving the Gear, despite a rocky release, and who knows what they plan to do in the future (open it up to other devices?), but for Sony to be in stealth mode all this time is unacceptable for a large corporation.

Gear has proved to be such a flop that Samsung is likely going to show the Gear v.2 at next CES in Las Vegas in January.
Sony has today updated the Smartwatch 2 SW2 App, it now has alot more watch faces. I noticed a new stopwatch app as well, and a choice to let the display brightness be adjusted according to surrounding light.

I never said the Gear was selling well, and to clarify, I don't own one. I went with the Pebble this round after backing Kreyos and then backing out after months of radio silence to finally being told there was a delay. Before backing the Kreyos, I was eyeing the Sony, but the wife didn't like the look of it (screen too big) and I was getting antsy after no US release date. The Pebble is good enough for me until things like battery life, thickness, etc get sorted out on these "smarter" smartwatches.
I'm just saying, at least Samsung is *trying* to make an effort, as opposed to Sony. I mean, was today's update even announced? Any change logs aside from Play Store? They are basically ignoring customers and just tossing them a bone every once in a while to act like they care.

Looks like apple is having the same problems as google did with the WIFI there.
You would think that apple would of done something about concidering they came weeks after google and had to of watched their presentation.
And it looks like they won't be able to show some of the key features on the iphone 4... On day one it already gets a black eye.

Farm ville on iPhone
oh okay orb no problem, xda is a win mob fan site (Me too ) but same time there are some apple fan boys here. This might be useful for them ha ha
It is relevant as most users here are used to phone hardware that is far more advanced than the iPhone.
Not anymore. Yes iPhone OS still sucks and of course there is no hardware keyboard, but the new phones display alone is enough to make me a little jealous. 960x640 makes the 800x480 screen on my Rhodium feel like QVGA. When will WE get display's like this? WinMo obviously never will, and WP7 only supports up to 800x480.
I assume Android could support this resolution, but when? Imagine the HD2's 4.3" display at 960x640! LCD pr0n it would be. HTC needs to get on this quickly.
Wow impressive, Video chat over wi-fi and the app which enables this is FaceTime. Cool.
video chat and the book apps is just bs. On the other hand - the screen, the camera (+LED flash), the processor, and the antenna seem like good innovations. Hate to say it, but... Well done, Apple.

You are right mate
I really hate to sound even a tiny bit pro Apple but what exactly about this new iPhone is fail? Besides the screen size it meets or bests the HD2 in the hardware department. The 960x640 resolution is well beyond anything HTC has produced (or plans to?); considering one of the main perks of our WinMo and Android phones has been the high resolution screens this point alone is pretty important.
Imagine Android hacked onto this new iPhone. Might make it arguably the best non-hardware-keyboard phone out there currently.
Hardware keyboard is still a requirement for me so it is an obvious no go. HTC has some catching up to do now, I do hope they soon announce a new Android phone with as high of a greater a resolution (and screen size, obviously) than the new iPhone.
I agree with MooGoo, further what i have heard is this new iPhone 4G has only 256 MB Ram and dont know how they though that they are going to do multitasking with that?? Either the Phone will slow down or battery power leak or can't open as many application as on win mob. But who knows may be they have done something innovative for that too.
Hardware seems nice. Software is disappointing though, I was expecting them to more towards the cloud a bit more and maybe cut that iTunes leash.

I just do not want to wait:silly:
But I wanna tell you I have a Sony smart watch and compare to Pebble the Sony is terrible !
-I can't just plug the charger cable and charge Sony smartwatch. It's connecting/reconnecting., so I need to find good position for stably charge. (maybe my unit is defective).
-The sony belt is always dirty and dusty. Always.
-The screen is got a bad responding to fingers. (I know how to fix it. You need to press and hold then it will work, but it's stupid)
-Bad on sun-light.
-Battery is bad. I need to charge them every 2 days. Because after 1 day I have a half charge. (and I don't want to risk, so I charge every day.)
The design is not comparable with Pebble.
I was surprised when I saw how it looks on hand. Very solid man.

Do you think it's possible to customize with other types of straps?
What would you say the gap is aprox. (where the strap goes through)?

Weather function to do what? Your phone could send that info to your watch tho, so the watch won't need such thing by itself.

It kills me to admit that my brand new $ 1200 surface pro has some light bleeding around the botton right and right areas of the screen.
Ive looked it up a but and it seems that this was an earlier issue so I actually didnt think there would be a chance I would end up facing this problem. I havent seen any complaints throughout may-june.

Second one is with lights out, black image on full screen.
They are both with brightness at 100%, but it really doesnt make that much differene if it's set to 50%.
What do you guys think? I shouldnt be expecting those right? I know that people had much worse bleeds once, but that was before.
I also dont want to keep exchanging till I get a good one, that's too much of a hassle. So if you tell me that all of them are probably be the same I wont exchange.
It bugs me that such an expensive device would present this kind of irritating and ugly problem after 6 months in production.
Warranty claim. Your entitled so why not :/
The thing is im visiting canada right now, and thats where I bought it. The store is called future shop.
Im still within the 14 return/exchange period.
And now im seriously thinking whether I should return it for good, keep mine or get it replaced, hoping the new one would be free from defects.
Get it replaced under warranty. At FutureShop, ideally, but any Microsoft store should replace it no trouble. That's definitely a defect; the backlights shouldn't be *visible* in that way at all.

But what if the next one is the same or even worse? Isnt it likely that he whole batch sent to the sae store would have the same production issues?
Test it before you take it home, get a refund if they can't provide a non-defective model? Leaving aside the fact that it's highly unlikely that an entire production run has a visually obvious defect, this is Consumer Electronics 101. Hell, it's Being A Customer 101. If somebody sold you a defective toaster, you'd take it back under warranty. If somebody sold you a defective Ferrari, you'd take it back under warranty.
I agree. Keep asking for one till you get one that satisfies you. You paid for it, so you deserve to get a fully functional product.

Here in the UK if a shop starts being awkward normally just just whip your phone out, make it highly obvious that your searching for the trading standards number, perhaps going as far as almost pressing the dial button and then they'll usually give in but from what I hear the US equivalent of trading standards are useless so shops might ignore the same threat.

Don't like the Idea of a non-switchable watch-strap. If this is going to be the real thing, then my next Smartwatch will be an Android-wear watch with changeable watchstrap.
If it's not removable it's probably because the band has smart components in it. Maybe a HR monitor. The forced rubber band might point to it being a mix of smartwatch and smartband. I'm hype.
Somehow reminds me of the LG g watch. Looks bland but maybe better in real life. The SmartWatch 2 still has very nice styling in my opinion.

Dear god please don't make SW3 Android Wear. I think they are releasing two versions. The previous black leaked pic had the same looking watch, but clearly had the standard SW2 watchface, which suggests it's running Sony's custom os. Also IDK why all these stupid companies keep proclaiming that SW2 runs a skinned version of android. All it takes is a peak at wikipedia if you are not sure.
Oh good, apparently that white picture is just a render that someone made, not another leak, that that Android Wear screen is just someone guessing.
I really doubt this watch will run android wear. There is a reason no one is using a screen like the sunlight readable SW2 screen in Android Wear. There is probably a technical reason. Sony would probably have to get a more standard android phone screen like Oled, and I really don't see them downgrading like that, not to mention the 3x shorter battery life.
Some months ago Sony told they won't use Wear for SW3. I'm sure they won't. On the other side, Sony should really work for getting more developers focused on Sony OS because to give Sony SW3 a good base for existence besides Android Wear and Tizen. Actually I'm feeling bored of my SW2 because there are missing so much good extensions which are already done for Android Wear.

Basically IMO what we really need is SDK access for apps to be able to run directly from the watch. That's the biggest problem with the SW2. All apps that what to do more than send you notifications need to run on the android phone and only send images to the watch, and this is whats responsible for the watch being very laggy with 3rd party apps.
To be honest I am shocked of how the SW3 will look. So SW2 is one of the most beautiful square smart watch, and they "upgrade" it with a Samsung Gear look, a plastic body and non removable strap...

Remember the time, Sony said they won't jump on the Android Wear - Train? They would have put too much effort in making their proprietary System perfect, they said...
And what's that sh*t with the non-removable strap? My next Smart Watch: Definitely not this one.

If I'm going to upgrade the SW2 with an Android Wear one, then it most likely will be replaced by a Moto 360
very boring looking watch and no replaceable bands, nope, don't want it
either the G Watch R or the Moto 360, waiting for reviews first though
What a disappointment, a generic Android Wear device.
I wonder if details will ever leak of the true successor to the SmartWatch 2 that Sony had in the works.
Or even if they'll release any of the new developed software for us SW2 owners. Although I very much doubt that.....
SW2, end of the line. Yet another dead OS!
I was also disappointed to see what the SmartWatch 3 looked like. No heart rate sensor either. No key differentiating factors. Sorry Sony but this time my money's going towards the Motorola 360 or LG G watch R.
It's ugly, I might buy a couple more SW2's just to have spares.
If this generic watch ran the SW2 OS the battery would last for like 2 weeks
Now that Smartband they also announced seems interesting. I wonder what OS it runs. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/smartwear/smartband-talk-swr30/
that's OK, if I will need to start over I will opt for the Moto 360 or LG instead of SW3.

i totally understand paying $600+ on a phone and wanting a good working phone but as a samsung fan whos gotten flawed phone after flawed phone ive accepted the fact that im never going to get a perfect phone. so my question is where do you all draw the limit? or are u wanting that perfect phone.
list of the flawed sammys
S3: found out it couldnt read memory cards after return date (got a refurb s3 that could read memory cards)
s5: antenna problems (started having rly slow internet)
note 4: phone lags badly.
I think people just want a phone that doesn't arrived to their door already scratched, or with a 24 hour led light on, or in my case, a charger that doesn't charge the phone out of the box.
Have a reorder processing as we speak. Software issues are absolutely nuts (auto brightness turning on/off on its own, Samsung keyboard keeps reactivating, MMS not working, etc) and there's something VERY wrong when I can reboot the phone, turn on *only* Google Maps and Pandora, and the phone runs out of memory, closing Pandora down. I mean, what the ****, Samsung?
I doubt the new phone will fix these issues, and I think I'm just going back to my Nexus 5.

However, I have a scratch under the top bezel of my glass and the Always on LED on the flash so I am going to get a replacement.
can somebody upload a pic of the always on led?

Yeah, if my replacement device shows up tonight and has ANY defect, this is just going to be a straight return, and I'll wait for another model. I mean, I am a Samsung avoider usually. I tend to not like how they do business, how they advertise, the products they put out... The S6 looked THAT good to me, that I would put my history with them behind. If I get 2 defective phones in a row (and I mean this new one needs to be PERFECT) it's going right back and I'll wait for the '15 Moto X or something. Maybe the G4.

The good news is, there were no defects. The bad news is because there was no phone. It was on the UPS truck to be delivered on the 8th, and returned to the depot around 12AM. It never left the depot on the 9th, even though UPS swore up and down that it was out for delivery. Contacted T-Mobile, they contacted UPS, confirmed it was lost. Now, here's the kicker: T-Mobile left me a voicemail saying *I* had to file a claim with UPS to make things right. Called them right the **** back and told them it wasn't my responsibility. They're shipping another out tomorrow. Who knows when I'll get it?
