[Theme][Apk's] Raidermans Compilation - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

These will be individual System app Apk's, as I have not found a good way to flash anything with our locked boot loader. This is a work in progress, and I will answer questions, when and if I get the time. It has taken a lot of work to get this theme to where it is today, so please hit the thanks button. Downloads will be in the next post.
Back up every apk that you want to replace by renaming it with a .bak. Place modified apk in the root of /system, and change permissions to rw-r-r and Move it to the app or framework folder. Replacing framework is very dangerous, but I have found that a factory reset will allow you to replace it with the original, if something goes wrong.
I recommend doing this process slowly. start with two apk's, then reboot, check to see if they work. The other way to get framework to work, is to pull a COPY of your original, and inject the images into the res folders. Do not try to extract framework, then repack, it will boot loop.
Use these at your own risk, as I am not responsible for your actions.
Special thanks to BobCatRom in the S4 forums for sharing some of his images.. Click the thanks button over there also
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2372902
Also, I used some of the framework images from the Cobalt theme, those guys/gals do amazing work. Be sure to thank them also

Remember if the app force closes, rename the corresponding odex file with .bak as well.
Everything is functioning flawlessly on my device!!!
Note. You cant use SecPhone or SecContacts separately

So question. When you say replace with SecContacts and SecPhone - are you telling us to rename the downloaded SecPhone.apk to SecContacts.apk and the downloaded SecContacts.apk to SecPhone.apk? Then switch them out with the files located in the /system/app folder. That's what I am understanding from your post, otherwise it would be completely pointless to put that there. Unless that was a mistake and we just swap out the downloaded files as is with the original /system/app files. Let me know. Thanks for the work, bro.

No, renaming. SecPhone, and SecContacts must be replaced at the same time. That is what I mean.

DO NOT RENAME SYSTEMUI.APK UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO ADD THE NEW THEMED APK.
See drwario's post below on how to handle systemui.apk and the framework-res.apk
This method worked for me with no issues at all! Thanks for your help on this!

Got an easy way to push the SystemUI.apk??
My trick to the systemui.apk is to rename the new apk.1 and change the permissions.
!!!!Gotta be quick but rename the original systemui.apk to .Bak at the end and immediately rename the new systemui.apk
If you don't catch it fast enough all kinds of stuff will start shutting down. You won't be able to open your root explorer at this point so you can't fix what you did. Restart the phone and open the root explorer and go to the system folder to change the new systemui.apk and restart. It'll freeze after EVERY freaking button you push and you'll have to okay whatever the message pops up.
REMEMBER TO ADD .BAK TO ALL THE ORIGINALS.

I read some where one time for framework res apk. That you push it into /system set permissions. Then move it into /system/framework letting overwrite the old one. If you don't go strait into boot loop it worked

Wouldn't let me rename the themed apk since there was already a apk with the name. Renamed the original to .bak and quickly renamed the new one, but everything started closing down. Now I'm bootlooped and a factory reset didn't work. Starting from scratch now.
I don't recommend pushing the framework-res.apk unless you know how to without the phone running I guess. I don't know any other way without being able to flash this stuff. What's your secret Raiderman?

I use this method for all system app changes I make. I think you miss understood me. Place framework res apk in /system first. Not /system/framework. Ste permissions. Then move it into /system/framework folder letting it over write the old one. It should work.

So setting permissions in 'system' will let you move it into 'system/framework' and it overrides the original....damn
I always tried to copy/paste in the system folders but it wouldn't let me cause of same name. Learn something every day! Gonna try now that my phone is back to life.

Yes delete dalvik. On mine a factory reset helps to settle it in too. While I'm messing with my phone I get into boot loop easily. I just factory reset until it boot again. We have no way to fix permissions from recovery. But factory reset aside from wiping data also resets permissions I believe. But after factory reset your modded apks will still be there

Oddly SecSettings.apk only worked correctly by NOT changing the odex file. Changed original to SecSettings.apk.bak, moved new one to system/apps, fix permissions, wipe dalvik, reboot. Works flawless

Restore it, via SEUS if bootloader is locked. If it's unlocked flash a system.img from the development section (if you flash a system.img that's based on the stock rom (nearly everythinh besides the cyanogenmod rom) you won't lose userdata).

Yer I reflashed it straight away and have got back to the same point just trying to work out what stopped it working, I'll try and get the theme on again and see if it works if it doesn't then it must be the theme that's breaking it!
EDIT: Just done the same thing as above and its crashed my phone again - none of my apps will load and everything force closes as soon as I launch it! I've only changed a couple of other things, but I reset my phone after making the last change and before adding the theme. It must be one of the steps in the theme that is messing it up. Stage 4 is always the one that seems to make things go wrong - could that make my phone crash?

[Q] Need help with Apk Manager apk mod

Made a very simple mod to my systemUI.apk using APK Manager. However, after moving to phone and reboot, there were no icons in top notification area and no pull-down notification window was completely missing! So obviously something went south. I did have a copy of my last ‘good’ systemUI.apk, so I’m recovered… but would like to get my simple mod (phone signal strength bars) to successfully implement. Here are the steps I followed (which didn’t work):
1. in Apk Manager folder, put my “systemUI.apk” in “place-apk-here-for-modding’ folder
2. launched “Script.bat” file
3. cmd window opened with Apk Manager menu
4. using Apk Manager tool:
a. extract apk (successful) ‘decision 1’ in tool
b. decompile apk (successful) ‘decision 9’ in tool
c. made my edits (changed 2 png files)
d. compile apk (successful) ‘decision 11’ in tool
e. I read that system files do not need to be signed… so did not sign it
5. This put file “unsigned_systemUI.apk” in “place-apk-here-for-modding” folder
6. I renamed “unsigned_systemUI.apk” to “systemUI.apk”
7. connected phone to computer and transferred “systemUI.apk” to external SD
8. moved “systemUI.apk” to /system and fixed permissions (rw,r,r)
9. then moved from /system to /system/app and replaced the current systemUI.apk
10. rebooted to recovery and wiped cache/ Dalvik cache
11. rebooted normally
So, phone booted up fine… no FCs… no boot loops… but there were no icons in notification area (time, date, no icons) or a drop down window. So question is: what steps did I leave out or do wrong? Did I need to sign apk? To recover, I simply put my good systemUI.apk in/ system/app folder… fixed permissions… then rebooted… and it’s fine… so not sure why the modded file did not work. Thanks.
SOLVED.... used NinjaMorph and did mod on phone. By the way, never used this app before, but it is kickazz... very intuitive and easy to use.

[Q] Moving modified .apks to the same roms update

Hello so what I've got is this. I've modified some of the system .apks and the framework on my current rom well an update has rolled out and i was wondering how do i take those modded apps with me I've used zipthemer and cwm but i get a bootloop using zipthemer i had wrote my xml to install the entire .apk is this wrong any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Use Super Manager to make a backup of all your .APK's on the device it will be under the .APK section in Super Manager around tab 4 or 5 i believe! Mount your SD card in your PC after the backup and push the backup .APK's to a new folder on your PC and do a fresh clean flash of the new ROM then push the .APK's back onto the device after you reboot! If this is not exactly what you are looking for feel free to elaborate a bit more im pretty sure i understand the concept you are going for!
That's pretty much what I'm aiming at only im talking about modified /system apks I usually wind up pulling the apps and framework and replacing the image files inside the new ones with the ones ive edited using 7.zip and pushing them back to /system/app or framework with adb but man that takes forever lol I guess what ive done here is created a system wide theme including system apps and framework but i dont know how to write the xml to push the images into the framework and apks through a cwm flashable
I guess im kinda looking for building a flashable theme something i can just flash after installing the rom update but I''m not really sure if what I've done is or could be considered a theme i guess it would be seeing as how it changes the look of the apps and framework its seems like I'm themeing the hard way
(btw typing while i think sorry if it doesn't make sense)
edit - but it seems like ive tried pushing the actual "old" apk from an older version to a new version of the same rom and it force closes
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
AHH yea now i fully understand what you are getting at... props br0... i for one have never used ABD to push system modified values back to the droid but i completely get what your doing. I assume the "old.apk" force closes because your modified values collide with the default values resulting in a source error, are you using some sort of hex editor to modify anything? or just extracting .png's and swapping? if swapping .png's only you should be able to extract swap and rebuild with success but im sure there will be bugs as this is open source of sorts! I'll take a look around and see if i can find anything structured towards this because i gotta tell you man that is something i have thought about taking on myself for a little bit now just haven't gotten around to it. Sounds easy enough to do what you are going for as does most things... until you put it into practice lol i'll have a look around br0
No I'm not using an editor just 7zip to open the apk and pulling pngs from old and placing them in the "new" apk and pushing it back to the system folder if you can download something like this from the market surely I can build one I think I'm just missing something
That would be awesome man any help further into this would be greatly appreciated and Ill do the same and post here

Download a apk editor just Google how to edit apk and you should find a nice set of script put together as a cmd promt. There extract the apk both old and new then replace the PNG files. After that repackage them using the script and also sign them as a system apk (there is a script for this too). After that just copy it to the folder you took it from or via ADB.I edited mine SystemUI.apk like this and now my status bar is exactly like the one in ICS

O no no they don't force close doing this at all
they only force close when I tried pushing an "old" apk to the "new" rom
If you pull the new ones and change with 7zip and push back they're money
I really just want to build a flashable theme zip so I don't have to pull all kinds of stuff after an update
Just a simple flash maybe even something i could deploy onto another inc2 but I'm really not sure if that's possible because of the amount of changes done to multiple apks and framework

How to customise APK's Images [EASY]

First off you need a deodoxed custom rom , next copy the desired APK's from your System/App folder or from the zip you flashed or from wherever.
Download and Install WinRAR or 7Zip and drag the APK onto the shortcut on your desktop. It should open it up , next extract the LDPI and the HDPI folder/s onto your desktop.
Edit your pics with any program e.g. Paint.net . Then replace the modified folder with the old one.
Next download SignAPKTics from APKTops and install that. Drag the modded APK to your SD card.
Click START , choose the APK , click next , choose Test Sign and click sign! Wait 1.5 mins! And ot should be done. Now just (with root browser) replace the old one with the modded one.
And re-boot! Enjoy...

I'm not sure if he has tried it with system app. replacing a file like systemUI.apk or framework-res.apk will make our device continously give FC message. we should use zip file to push the apk to /system/app. system app is also should not signed. I always using this trick without signing stuff and it works. we just need to make sure that we're replace the ordinary file (not the .9 one) and put a picture with same resolution with the original one.
Exactly my thoughts. Resigning systems apps is a big NO. I already did it twice (SystemUI.apk) and I ended up with no statusbar. Good thing I had a backup.

The easiest and foolproof method is to use Ninjamorph or metamorph app from market.I've modified tones of .pngs with them.
First open the apk with the app
Exit the app
Go to myfiles/Androidthemes/workspace/name-of-apk/res/
Then go to drawable ldpi
Take a look at all of the .png files
Find which .png you want to replace.
You should make your own pic with photoshop or anything to replace it with exact resolution and name
Store it in the sd-card
Open the app again
Go to Existing project/name-of-apk/res/drawable ldpi
Click on the .png you want to replace
App will ask you to replace it with some other .png
Navigate to the modified pic
It'll replace the .png
Then go back to homepage of app
Then click finish project
Tap on the apk name
App will ask you whether you want to replace the original apk
Do as you want
Reboot phone
Make a nandroid backup before everything. cheers

yea metamorph/ninjamorph is great but i'd prefer to do it in PC and just push it via adb cuz i use photoshop and i find it a hassle to use my phone to edit apk's
It's for those guys who dont know how to decompile/compile apk files with their pc.But I agree with you, pc is the best way to go.

Enjoy...

May be you should try it out first.Replacing system apps with root explorer is a very dangerous business.I'm familiar with that.My phone started to do endless boot loops which even a nandroid restore failed to fix and ended up in flashing a new stock rom.

agree
pushing it using adb is a more safer way, because if something goes wrong with forcing it to system then you can just repush the original system apk
you was replacing a running apk. there's no doubt it will give you FC message (lol). try your method to replace framework-res.apk or any system app/framework. b16h22 is right. your method is dangerous.

screenshots?
Here is a screen shot, its not from my phone but this is what it is like
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium
Not sure if it's me but the screen shot seems to be tiny (56*100)
Yes, I well upload a better one later.
It's not really useful because it's a screen shot of a transparent background
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium
Screen shot added to OP.
Its not from my phone but from a someone who uses this in the xperia T
But it shows that the pull down notification background is transparent
I have small navbar MOD and a new systemui.apk yet
what happens if I change my systemui.apk with this one? Do I lose my small navbar mod?

But I will upload a fix for that later
