Here is a screen shot, its not from my phone but this is what it is like
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium

Not sure if it's me but the screen shot seems to be tiny (56*100)

Yes, I well upload a better one later.
It's not really useful because it's a screen shot of a transparent background
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium

Screen shot added to OP.
Its not from my phone but from a someone who uses this in the xperia T
But it shows that the pull down notification background is transparent

I have small navbar MOD and a new systemui.apk yet
what happens if I change my systemui.apk with this one? Do I lose my small navbar mod?
thanks

Yes.
But I will upload a fix for that later
Sent from my C6903 using xda premium

in this mod you changed all notification background9.png in systemUI, but the right one would be enough. you know what is the right one?

[MOD] Battery Icon Mod for Stock 2.3.6 ROM

Was bored today (read: avoiding doing work), and quickly had the UOT kitchen give a better battery icon. Nothing fancy.
If anyone wants the zip, feel free. Also attached are the necessary files to make your own mods in UOT kitchen (if you're running the stock 2.3.6 rom).
....and now I guess I'd better do work today.
Without CWM (on stock 3e recovery), how's this installed? Can't install non official samsung zip files with 3e. Also, stock ROM is odexed... can i just rename/delete SystemUI.odex and replace my SystemUI.apk with this one? Or does it have to be pushed with ADB?
Good question! Wish I knew how else to install it without CWM. You might be able to change out the files, but I honestly don't know. Anyone out there know better than I?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
easiest way to install without cwm is to have root explorer extract all the files in there which should be (framework-res.apk) and systemui.apk . once extracted and in your phone sd then you have to drag it with root explorer to system/framework for the framework-res.apk and for systemui.apk to system/app but before u do that you have to fix permissions by bringing them into system folder then fix permission and then move it otherwise you'll see forecloses like no tommorow and you're done. but if your rom is .odexed its not possible because of .odex scripts it'll mess up your phone like whoa ..anyways enjoy
permission to fix in the box are like this..
Read X X
Write X
Other X
This is stock 2.3.6, so it is still odexed...

I'm on the stock 2.3.6 ROM which is odexed. I see in /system/framework there is framework.jar and framework.odex. And a framework-res.apk with no matching odex. In /system/app there is systemUI.apk and systemUI.odex. So, to avoid a FC shii storm, I should:
1) put the OP systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk in /system and fix permissions...
2) then move systemUI.apk to /system /app folder.
3) move framework-res.apk to /system/framework folder.
Do I need to delete my current SystemUI.odex or leave it? Not sure if OP's systemUI.apk is deodexed or odexed?
Secondly, do I do anything with my current framework. jar and framework.odex files?

Sorry, but it won't. But you can make your own using uot kitchen (online) for themes. Though I have read that some of the personalized ROMs don't play nice with UOT...

ive not tried anything with .odex but it doesn't work as far as i know and yah some roms that are personalized have uot problems but just follow up with devs of those roms they can fix it up and all for ya.
I can confirm that it does work with odexed roms (since it does work with stock 2.3.6).

Thx for confirming... so back to my questions above.. do i need the systemUI.odex file or does your systemUI.apk combine both? Also, do I do anything with the framework.jar and framework.odex files (or just replace framework-res.apk with yours?)

The framework and systemui files posted above are originals (I posted them in case someone else wanted to mod it themselves, so they wouldn't have to extract them themselves). The zip file is the new icon materials from UOT. Not sure how to directly install it (I've only ever installed from the zip file myself)...

I am missing something
I tried installing with CWM and following DoctorQMM steps to the letter (even learned all about fix permissions) but no matter what, my phone locks up and just flashes after the install and reboot. What can I try next?

How to customise APK's Images [EASY]

First off you need a deodoxed custom rom , next copy the desired APK's from your System/App folder or from the zip you flashed or from wherever.
Download and Install WinRAR or 7Zip and drag the APK onto the shortcut on your desktop. It should open it up , next extract the LDPI and the HDPI folder/s onto your desktop.
Edit your pics with any program e.g. Paint.net . Then replace the modified folder with the old one.
Next download SignAPKTics from APKTops and install that. Drag the modded APK to your SD card.
Click START , choose the APK , click next , choose Test Sign and click sign! Wait 1.5 mins! And ot should be done. Now just (with root browser) replace the old one with the modded one.
And re-boot! Enjoy...

I'm not sure if he has tried it with system app. replacing a file like systemUI.apk or framework-res.apk will make our device continously give FC message. we should use zip file to push the apk to /system/app. system app is also should not signed. I always using this trick without signing stuff and it works. we just need to make sure that we're replace the ordinary file (not the .9 one) and put a picture with same resolution with the original one.
Exactly my thoughts. Resigning systems apps is a big NO. I already did it twice (SystemUI.apk) and I ended up with no statusbar. Good thing I had a backup.

afaik, it's all or nothing. if you resign one system apk, you have to do for all system apk with the same key.

when making a guide always post screenshots dude,
not just post words,
make it clarified and very detailed so that people reading this will not get lost,
also don't post for the sake of just putting it there,

The easiest and foolproof method is to use Ninjamorph or metamorph app from market.I've modified tones of .pngs with them.
First open the apk with the app
Exit the app
Go to myfiles/Androidthemes/workspace/name-of-apk/res/
Then go to drawable ldpi
Take a look at all of the .png files
Find which .png you want to replace.
You should make your own pic with photoshop or anything to replace it with exact resolution and name
Store it in the sd-card
Open the app again
Go to Existing project/name-of-apk/res/drawable ldpi
Click on the .png you want to replace
App will ask you to replace it with some other .png
Navigate to the modified pic
It'll replace the .png
Then go back to homepage of app
Then click finish project
Tap on the apk name
App will ask you whether you want to replace the original apk
Do as you want
Reboot phone
Make a nandroid backup before everything. cheers

May be you should try it out first.Replacing system apps with root explorer is a very dangerous business.I'm familiar with that.My phone started to do endless boot loops which even a nandroid restore failed to fix and ended up in flashing a new stock rom.

agree
pushing it using adb is a more safer way, because if something goes wrong with forcing it to system then you can just repush the original system apk
you was replacing a running apk. there's no doubt it will give you FC message (lol). try your method to replace framework-res.apk or any system app/framework. b16h22 is right. your method is dangerous.

Then i pull the SystemUI to my tablet and give the right permission

Then i Reboot the device.... i see the changes (other bat-icons) but then the System stopps the UI and the Navibar is gone... then she comes again and the System stop it again

Instead of using APK Manager, you can treat SystemUI.apk as a zip archive, extract it on your device, make your changes, re-zip it, change the zip extension to apk, replace your SystemUI.apk with the modded one, and reboot. Don't touch the SystemUI.odex file at all. Leave it. And if anything goes wrong, push your old SystemUI.apk back to the device. This method works (sometimes) on odexed ROMs. Because SystemUI.apk is a system app, it doesn't need to be re-signed or anything; just zipped.

[TUTORIAL][GB] Theming your status bar (Without decompiling apk)

Ok guys I'm posting this thread as I couldn't find a post which was easy to understand for newbies(like me) to customise the status bar.
This is pure basic and any noob can do it....
Doesn't involve decompiling of Apk...
[EDIT]:As pointed out by arunsai123 TRANSPARENT STATUS BAR MOD with this method works only for gingerbread roms [I GUESS NEVER TESTED IT ]
SOME MODS MAY REQUIRE YOU TO DO SOME SMALI EDITING SO THESE STEPS WONT WORK OUT [BUMMER]
Works universally for all ROMS!!
Prerequisite :
1.File manager with root explorer
2.7 zip or winrar (I used 7zip)
3.Image editing software (eghotoshop) (optional)
4.Offcourse basic computer knowledge.
Steps:
1.Navigate to /system/app and copy Systemui. Apk to root of your sd card
2.Copy the Apk to your pc.
(You can also pull /system/app/Systemui. Apk using adb)
3.Now open the Apk using 7zip and navigate to /res/drawable-mdpi
Here you can see the different icons used by your ui.
4.Now identify the. Image you need to edit (can be understood easily as the file names are self explanatory) (eg the image for notification. Drawer. Background is status_bar_background.png)
5.Extract that image out of the archive and edit using an image editing tool
6.Now drag the edied image back into 7zip Approve the prompt to replace the existing file.
(Or you can replace it with an already created image(Take care that it is of the same name, resolution and format.
7.Now copy this to your phone and replace the original. Systemui. Apk with the new one. (the process Systemui may force close and your status bar dissappear.... DON'T PANIC)
(You can also push using adb)
8.Now reboot to recovery and fix permission (inside advanced menu)
9.That's it you will be welcomed by your own home made status bar at your next reboot.
If you liked the status bar icon /background of any rom then they can extracted by opening the zip file of the rom and navigating to /system/app
Then extracting the Systemui. Apk
Extract Systemui . Apk using 7zip and finding the required files
Then put these in your Systemui. Apk using the steps above
If you release your mods please give credit to the creators of original images(If you use anybody else's images)
People searching for transparent status bars can do it easily by this method..
Just replace status_bar_background.png with a transparent or translucent image...
[EDIT]:attached a translucent background
Can we try this on owr phone using xplorer ( filemanager) and some image editing tool
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app
Offcourse you can............any filemanager (personally recommend es file explorer) with root access can be used just remember to.enable root explorer and mount system as writable otherwise you won't be able to access those files.......
Also remember status icons may have more than 1 image....1 for each state so edit all of them otherwise these icons can go real nasty....

- i copied and past (overwrote) ALL the battery images from jaggyjags ROM to /res/drawable-mdpi in the SDcard;

- i turned the phone off -> went in recovery -> advanced -> fix permission;

Same here, obviously I followed the instructions like you said but after the restart all I see is a black background, no statusbar at all but the apps are working. Now I've messed everything up and I'm back to factory resetting (for the 138586589th time) xD

I am using stock rom. Also had checked by deleting .odex file and permission was also correct rw -r -r (0644) but same result.
@AGuyfromH3LL which superuser mod? The device is rooted and supersu is installed.
Patching Service.jar. Dose AlienRom have this? Because in AlienRom is working.

Great job! works on my phone, but some settings would be nice...like changing what toggles we want, or color.
