Restore it, via SEUS if bootloader is locked. If it's unlocked flash a system.img from the development section (if you flash a system.img that's based on the stock rom (nearly everythinh besides the cyanogenmod rom) you won't lose userdata).
if i just want the transparent home which file do i use?

Yer I reflashed it straight away and have got back to the same point just trying to work out what stopped it working, I'll try and get the theme on again and see if it works if it doesn't then it must be the theme that's breaking it!
EDIT: Just done the same thing as above and its crashed my phone again - none of my apps will load and everything force closes as soon as I launch it! I've only changed a couple of other things, but I reset my phone after making the last change and before adding the theme. It must be one of the steps in the theme that is messing it up. Stage 4 is always the one that seems to make things go wrong - could that make my phone crash?
Are ALL the permissions set right they should all be: rw-r--r--it should work no problem

I was able to change the system and framework directories from R/O to R/W and add circular battery png's to the framework-res.apk and push to the phone, screen shot is attached..
It might not be the progress to get complete root, but atleast we can mod the look of it and it stay after power down.
Wow. I need to get rid of the preinstalled swype so I can install the one with speech mic on it
And this mod holds after a restart?

Ok so newb question here... I've tried to mod framework-res.apk numerous times on my n1 and adb never works right, won't push or doesn't exist, or just bootloops... Any chance you could do a step by step write up on how you got the battery .pngs To work? I was just using uot kitchen before and now without full root I can't use it... I know its a pain but this is a mod I did constantly to every rom I ran. Ie: phone on? Resign apk? Commands in adb? Thanks ;-)
Yes! instructions would be awesome!
Instructions and someone else is what it will take before I believe this. Since it is not even deodexed as well as the battery icon in the picture looks blurry (to me anyways) and doesn't look native.
I pulled the framework-res.apk from system/framework
opened it within winrar and moved the battery png's to res/drawable-mdpi
it asked to update after move and click ok
went into root manager and remount /system as r/w
pushed framework-res.apk to /system/framework
that is the exact steps I followed as I did with when I had my mytough3g as well
I still can't wrap my head around this. How do these changes persist beyond a reboot if the system partition cannot be written to??
I thought this was the single biggest issue blocking progress in developing for both this device and the G2. So, it would appear that Root Explorer can re-write anything in the system partition by simply changing from r/o to r/w?
I don't get it.
NICE NICE, and nice Applanet ^_^
so this does work. Only thing i did was mount system in clockwork recovery then push framework-res.apk to /system/framework as far percentages go, there are only .pngs for 0,10,20,40,60,80 and 100 percent so i would assume the .xml needs redone. But cool to be able to do this!
Here is my second go. I only changed a little bit. Some new status bar images and a few other framework changes. I had trouble getting the text color to cooperate with me so i lost some of the black menu buttons, cause black text on black buttons just don't work lol.
Included in theme-
Wallpapers
Notifications and Ringtones
Star Wars Boot Logo
Star Wars Boot Animation
Pandora with transparent widget
Black Themed Market
Black Skinned Keyboard
Install Instructions-
Boot animation and logo can be installed through Liberty Toolbox(simply rename the boot animation to bootanimation.zip, and then place on the root of the /sdcard, and extract the logo.bin file from JediDroidBootLogo.zip and place on the root of /sdcard then flash both in Liberty Toolbox)
Reboot into clockwork recovery
mount system

Thanks man i'm at it again .
I got the bootanimation but the bootlogo zip is empty i installed it and the is nothing there and when i long press on it in the File Manager it's saying application not available . Still can't find the wallpapers.
That is strange, let me look into it.
The file you need is the logo.bin that is in the JediDroidBootlogo.zip. You should be able to extract it with root explorer. If not use 7zip on a computer. Then place it in the root of the sd card and use liberty toolbox. The last option under boot logos is - flash /sdcard/logo.bin. Thats how i do it.
I actually forgot to put the wallpapers in the zip file lol. I will fix that and you can download the Theme's zip file and get them that way. The easiest way to do it is to use root explorer. Long press on the Theme's zip file. Select extract all. It will pull the entire contents to the sd card into folder /sdcar/extracted. Then all you have to do is go to /sdcard/extracted/Liberty X 1.5 Star Wars Theme/system/media folder and all the addons are there. I will post update when i have fixed the downloadable file for you.
I extracted the files and i installed the bootanimation which is pretty cool, i see the JediDroidbootlogo.zip but as i said there is nothing in it i installed it using the toolbox and all i got was a fuzzy screen , that's ok tho , how about the wallpapers where can i find those ? . Thanks .
I still don't understand how you don't have the logo. I downloaded the file myself to test out your problem and the logo.bin file is inside the zip. Read my first response carefully and i believe it answers all of your questions.
You will have to re donwload the theme to get the wallpapers. I have reset the link and the file.
I tried it many times but it's no problem man . Thanks again it's very nice .
Are you installing the logo zip file or extracting the logo.bin file out of it?
Did you redownload the theme?
I added the wallpapers in after you mentioned they were missing. I had to change the file on media fire. I have updated the download link. If I need to I can pm you with just the logo.bin file from my phone. Let me know.

Hello so what I've got is this. I've modified some of the system .apks and the framework on my current rom well an update has rolled out and i was wondering how do i take those modded apps with me I've used zipthemer and cwm but i get a bootloop using zipthemer i had wrote my xml to install the entire .apk is this wrong any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Use Super Manager to make a backup of all your .APK's on the device it will be under the .APK section in Super Manager around tab 4 or 5 i believe! Mount your SD card in your PC after the backup and push the backup .APK's to a new folder on your PC and do a fresh clean flash of the new ROM then push the .APK's back onto the device after you reboot! If this is not exactly what you are looking for feel free to elaborate a bit more im pretty sure i understand the concept you are going for!
That's pretty much what I'm aiming at only im talking about modified /system apks I usually wind up pulling the apps and framework and replacing the image files inside the new ones with the ones ive edited using 7.zip and pushing them back to /system/app or framework with adb but man that takes forever lol I guess what ive done here is created a system wide theme including system apps and framework but i dont know how to write the xml to push the images into the framework and apks through a cwm flashable
I guess im kinda looking for building a flashable theme something i can just flash after installing the rom update but I''m not really sure if what I've done is or could be considered a theme i guess it would be seeing as how it changes the look of the apps and framework its seems like I'm themeing the hard way
(btw typing while i think sorry if it doesn't make sense)
edit - but it seems like ive tried pushing the actual "old" apk from an older version to a new version of the same rom and it force closes
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
AHH yea now i fully understand what you are getting at... props br0... i for one have never used ABD to push system modified values back to the droid but i completely get what your doing. I assume the "old.apk" force closes because your modified values collide with the default values resulting in a source error, are you using some sort of hex editor to modify anything? or just extracting .png's and swapping? if swapping .png's only you should be able to extract swap and rebuild with success but im sure there will be bugs as this is open source of sorts! I'll take a look around and see if i can find anything structured towards this because i gotta tell you man that is something i have thought about taking on myself for a little bit now just haven't gotten around to it. Sounds easy enough to do what you are going for as does most things... until you put it into practice lol i'll have a look around br0
No I'm not using an editor just 7zip to open the apk and pulling pngs from old and placing them in the "new" apk and pushing it back to the system folder if you can download something like this from the market surely I can build one I think I'm just missing something
That would be awesome man any help further into this would be greatly appreciated and Ill do the same and post here

Download a apk editor just Google how to edit apk and you should find a nice set of script put together as a cmd promt. There extract the apk both old and new then replace the PNG files. After that repackage them using the script and also sign them as a system apk (there is a script for this too). After that just copy it to the folder you took it from or via ADB.I edited mine SystemUI.apk like this and now my status bar is exactly like the one in ICS

O no no they don't force close doing this at all
they only force close when I tried pushing an "old" apk to the "new" rom
If you pull the new ones and change with 7zip and push back they're money
I really just want to build a flashable theme zip so I don't have to pull all kinds of stuff after an update
Just a simple flash maybe even something i could deploy onto another inc2 but I'm really not sure if that's possible because of the amount of changes done to multiple apks and framework
If you guys would like to see screen shots ill post some just for fun I've done alot of work

First off you need a deodoxed custom rom , next copy the desired APK's from your System/App folder or from the zip you flashed or from wherever.
Download and Install WinRAR or 7Zip and drag the APK onto the shortcut on your desktop. It should open it up , next extract the LDPI and the HDPI folder/s onto your desktop.
Edit your pics with any program e.g. Paint.net . Then replace the modified folder with the old one.
Next download SignAPKTics from APKTops and install that. Drag the modded APK to your SD card.
Click START , choose the APK , click next , choose Test Sign and click sign! Wait 1.5 mins! And ot should be done. Now just (with root browser) replace the old one with the modded one.
And re-boot! Enjoy...

I'm not sure if he has tried it with system app. replacing a file like systemUI.apk or framework-res.apk will make our device continously give FC message. we should use zip file to push the apk to /system/app. system app is also should not signed. I always using this trick without signing stuff and it works. we just need to make sure that we're replace the ordinary file (not the .9 one) and put a picture with same resolution with the original one.
Exactly my thoughts. Resigning systems apps is a big NO. I already did it twice (SystemUI.apk) and I ended up with no statusbar. Good thing I had a backup.

The easiest and foolproof method is to use Ninjamorph or metamorph app from market.I've modified tones of .pngs with them.
First open the apk with the app
Exit the app
Go to myfiles/Androidthemes/workspace/name-of-apk/res/
Then go to drawable ldpi
Take a look at all of the .png files
Find which .png you want to replace.
You should make your own pic with photoshop or anything to replace it with exact resolution and name
Store it in the sd-card
Open the app again
Go to Existing project/name-of-apk/res/drawable ldpi
Click on the .png you want to replace
App will ask you to replace it with some other .png
Navigate to the modified pic
It'll replace the .png
Then go back to homepage of app
Then click finish project
Tap on the apk name
App will ask you whether you want to replace the original apk
Do as you want
Reboot phone
Make a nandroid backup before everything. cheers

pushing it using adb is a more safer way, because if something goes wrong with forcing it to system then you can just repush the original system apk
you was replacing a running apk. there's no doubt it will give you FC message (lol). try your method to replace framework-res.apk or any system app/framework. b16h22 is right. your method is dangerous.

Ok, so im really new to using this and i followed everything the guide said. Something didnt go right when i tried to use it, all i was wanting to do was change the battery icon in the status bar. I found the apk files needed in my current rom. Everything went well with cooking the file and getting the zip file and putting it on the sd card, flashed it and when i went to reboot phone it got stuck on the splash screen. So im in the process of wiping and restoring the phone.
eollie has given me a good start and i plan on continuing with lightly modded, i mean lightly .
Now for the question, since i followed the steps to the letter something else had to go wrong, hopefully. Just wondering if anyone has an idea where i should start looking...
Thanks in advance..
BTW in trying to do this on AntonX's Barebones rom...dont know if that was a need to know

I believe it has something to do with the zip UOT makes so try and grab the UOT zip and unzip it then unzip the rom its from. Then move over the systemui, framework-res and twframework-res to their appropriate folders rezip the rom n reflash then come back n hit the thanks button

So I followed these steps and it worked flawlessly...
Picture is just for verification...
And for some reason I'm on blue cwm instead of red...is that cuz of an update?

Unzipping and pushing will work.
Once I figured out that changing the update binary option to galaxy I never had the issue of it bootlooping me.
I think the kitchen also says if you get a bootloop to pull the update binary from a rom zip that works and put in in the uot zip.

Your bootanimation.zip has to be stored, not compressed. You can set the compression level in pretty much every gui out there.
Make sure you take a known good bootanimatin.zip and edit that since it'll save you a lot of headaches.

i take it i can find the zip in the system files of the rom?
nvm i get what your saying
I have every mod from UOT working fine. I pushed all THREE apks, and just changed the boot animation manually like you should. Push SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk AND twframework-res.apk... My phone boots up so fast, thought, that my boot animation doesn't have time to finish, lol.

as long as you DO NOT post the rom with YOUR changes, I don't think you have to worry about the rom maker.
