[Q] Any way to change the hardware ID/info on a Nexus 5? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems that cell phone companies white-list specific devices on their network and will disable access for device IDs that are not on that white list. Is there any way to change the hardware ID info for a Nexus 5 and have it report itself as say a Samsung Tablet or completely different phone?

Surely that would be illegal. Talk to your carrier and if they're really **** as you suggest,.change to another

Stutter/Lag when swiping across widget screens

This thread is a reality check for a Nexus 5 and previously Nexus 4 owner. With my device currently at stock 4.4.2, I keep noticing the same thing happening as before:
The only place in the entire OS that I can notice stutter/lag is when I am quickly swiping across the widget screens. Period. I am not sure if this is because of Android's approach to drawing objects, not having a separate system thread for UI or something else.
The bottom line is that from a UI performance perspective, this is Android's Achilles' heel. The question is, if and when this is going to be fixed, assuming of course it is among Google's priorities.
Anyone else caring to share their thoughts?
I think a lot of it has to do with what a user puts on their screens. I dont have this problem myself, though I use nova and possibly fewer widgets than most. Though previously I had an s3 and that had huge problems

Sorry, probably I didn't put it right in my original post.
I am referring to the stock Android launcher (in Nexus 5's case, the Google Experience Launcher), and not the homescreens, but the widget collection screens.
I admit that I too have used 3rd party launchers (Action Launcher was my latest) and the stutter was either minimal or totally absent. I think this alone is an indication that the lag is a software and not a hardware issue.
Oh I see....

facebook app

First of all, I would like to say hi to all the forum members, I currently jumped from ios to andorid, I was on an att iphone 5s, and jumped to this beuty of a device the nexus 5, My question has to do with the facebook app, on the ios I was able to reply to posts and include a picture as well, when the qwert keyboard will come up there would be a camera icon on the left, I noticed that on the nexus 5, it only brings up the qwerty keyboard, is there a way to get the camera icon on there to include pictures in replys? many thanks in advance.
I don't use the Facebook app, but if you use the web site there is a camera icon next to the comment box. It will enable you to take a picture and attach it to your comment.
Not via the app, no

[Q] International Travelling and Country Codes on stock rom

Hello,
I'm running into an issue with outgoing calls. I'm on Sprint while in the USA and all of my contacts are saved as +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX, and while travelling I'll have other country codes like +852-XXXXXXXX, etc. When I make a call using the stock rom, it goes directly to Call Ended rather than dialing out. I need to keep the +1 and +852 country codes so that my whatsapp/kakaotalk works from anywhere.
Is there a fix so that outgoing calls can omit the country code or work with the country code?
Thanks!!
Country codes should work fine on the stock rom. Maybe its a sprint config. Have you asked them?

Smartphone Display & Touchscreen broke. Any way to mirror and control phone via PC?

Smartphone Display & Touchscreen broke. Any way to mirror and control phone via PC?
Yesterday the Touchscreen and LCD-Display of my Samsung Galaxy S6 (G920F) broke, it is still working, but I can't see nor control anything.
Before I replace my smartphone I wanted to save my contacts and see my missed calls and messages.
Is there a possibility to mirror the screen of my smartphone on my PC and control it? I don't know if USB-Debugging is enabled.
I've heard about some apps that can do that, but since i can't use my phone to install an app like this, I can't do it that way.
Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S6 (G920F) not rooted
OS: Android 7.0

I don't have this device but, the following thread may be helpful for what you are looking for that's specific to your situation.

If needed, you can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants as well.

WOW... It's been quite some time since I've heard of these. I haven't referenced/looked at those settings myself in a while as well. LOL!
I'll try to clarify them based upon memory...
1) I believe that the "Null Integrity" ON/OFF option basically controls the devices capability for Emergency Calls.
2) I think that the "RCC Version Setting" is the settings that is tied to the Remote Controls that are tied to the transport controls regarding items like showing the the metadata for certain images & media alike.
I believe that the first one is more accurate than the second because the term of "RCC" was used on a few different fronts with a slightly different meaning.
Maybe someone like @osmosis or even @Droidriven can help with this a bit further (or refer it to a more appropriate member) as, I may be correct about them both but, I may be wrong regarding the reference/application your asking about.
Good Luck!

Null integrity related to JAVA, that's a bit deeper down the rabbit hole than I'm familiar with, that's developer level stuff and I'm not a developer or experienced with JAVA.
I believe RCC version refers to a resource compiler tool as discussed in the link below.
https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/rcc.html
I could be way of base though as I'm not familiar with development and its processes.
This is something that can best be answered by an experienced developer that is versed on these subjects.
