First of all, I would like to say hi to all the forum members, I currently jumped from ios to andorid, I was on an att iphone 5s, and jumped to this beuty of a device the nexus 5, My question has to do with the facebook app, on the ios I was able to reply to posts and include a picture as well, when the qwert keyboard will come up there would be a camera icon on the left, I noticed that on the nexus 5, it only brings up the qwerty keyboard, is there a way to get the camera icon on there to include pictures in replys? many thanks in advance.
I don't use the Facebook app, but if you use the web site there is a camera icon next to the comment box. It will enable you to take a picture and attach it to your comment.
Not via the app, no

i want to send microsoft's mango team an email advocating the feature of text wrap in mango when you zoom in in internet explorer. what's the best way to contact them about this?
also, if anyone lwants this feature in mango, add your names to this thread so we can add greater voice and support for this feature, thanks.
note to moderators: this is a double post intended to reach a greater audience in this forum for support of this feature. please do not delete. thank you!
maybe tweet them @wp7dev -
I will have to do this myself, as this is important to me. Also, I supposed I will include a need to swipe away cards to close an app in multi-tasking. That makes more sense than not being able to do it at all in that view.

hi, tiny.. thanks for getting to me. i dont have twitter, so i cant tweet them. is there a better and more effective way of contacting them?
Not that I personally know of, but I tweeted them about the same issue - if that is any consolation. However, the more, the merrier. Then again, maybe it would be more fruitful to ask one of these people with the beta to see if it is present in their build of IE9 - as to see if the devs need to be bothered at all.
On topic please.....
The OP is asking for contact details, not which features you would like to see in Mango.
If you have no intentions of answering the question then your in the wrong place.

The problem:
I would like to use SMS/Whatsapp like iMessage; one inbox and when sending auto detect method (SMS/Whatsapp)
I have been googling for this subject for quite a while and I can't seem to find the solution and I really don't (want) to believe that this has not been developed yet; Whatsapp is cross platform and therefore would be better than just iPhone to Iphone, BB to BB etc. How could they not have developed this yet @ Whatsapp...
@admin / mod,
Sorry for placing the question in the wrong section. I can't seem to find out how to move topics either (guess my number of posts clearly reflects my noobism). If needed, could you please move this topic to Q&A
I Think this imposible. Whatsapp it's a third party app. Whatsapp cannot integrate with any brand.
Maybe in the future we use RCS (Rich Communication Suite). It´s a chat system that integrat in any phone.

It's actually perfectly possible. If the whatsapp developers included SMS in their app then it would be what the OP is asking for. It's just a 3rd party SMS app, and there's plenty of them around.
In answer to the OP, get in touch with the whatsapp developers and ask them if they have any plans to integrate SMS. What you're asking does make sense, but it doesn't currently exist, so go suggest it

I've seen all kind of apps 'manipulating' and catching in / out going text messages so whatsapp should be perfectly capable of doing such a think. The thing is; I thought I wasn't looking for it correctly. It simply cannot be that I am the only one thinking about this with the release of iMessage. To bad I cannot code a thing like that but this could be a money bomb if whatsapp fails to take on the market.
Workaround...
i came across the same thing the OP wanted , and its simply not working , whereas if long tap contact > send message > and i choose "viber" , it works perfectly... think its something whatsapp developers have to fix....
workaround....
but , if u click on the contact portrait , then u will have that pop up with all avaliable communication apps , and u click on whatsapp icon , then it will redirect u to that contact's chat window..
i know its not as convenient as setting it the default sms app , but there is nothing we can do about it but waiting for the developers of whatsapp to fix that...i attached a screenshot of it...
hope this helps....
cheers...

Hello everybody and thank you for your interest in Beta testing my Android application. My app is called PulseLA and I am attempting to create a social media application that ranks people, food, movies, cars, etc…. for people to share what they love, hate, and always wanted to do… I have not tested this application on many devices and for some this app is getting (sort of smooth) and for others it’s a total disaster! I was hoping to get maybe a group of interested individuals to join my beta team for PulseLA. You do not need to reside in California or Los Angeles to use this app. But I do have more data centralized in L.A. in opposition to the rest of the United States.
Please contact me via E-mail or through this forum and I will send you an APK for install. I would greatly appreciate all comments, suggestions, and questions for further clarification and analysis.
My E-mail – [email protected]
Facebook Fanpage - http://www.facebook.com/PulseCaster
This app is currently on iPhone if you have two phones or an itouch and would like to see a live alpha version of my app. Please search for “PulseLA”. I have not done SEO modifications so you must spell “PulseLA” exact without spaces or you can do a search for “Pulsecaster”.
Thank you everybody!
Here is a direct link to download PulseLA
Thanks for the initial help. I have gone back to development! I will post back a link in the future.
If anybody is curious about how development is going then feel free to PM me or E-mail me. [email protected]
ehm, can i test this ?
got a tab to try it out on
Hi will try it

Thanks. Sent Pm's with a link to download PulseLA.
If it will be easier I can send it to your e-mail so you can access the APK directly on your Phone/Tablet.
I'll test this out.

EDIT:
Getting a white screen, when clicking on other tabs the loading animation plays but nothing happens. Clicking camera tab brings up 'create account' page. Notice a flashing 'camera roll' screen before creating account shows. Very iPhone-ish. Star = Favs? Finally loaded. Most of the other tabs don't. Just a lil advise, try to make the app as Android-ish as possible. A lot people hate, hate, hate direct iPhone ports to Android. At least have some sort of ICS elements in it.
P.S. Didnt sign-up.
This is actually the build for android and was not meant to be iPhone ish =[ However, we do need to go back in and redesign the app for better interface. Are there any apps that you think would be a good idea for me to look at to get a better idea of Android interfaces?
In the future the first tab which is feed will not be clickable as it is based on followers. Because you did not sign up for an account it will obviously be empty =] Upon signing up for an account you will randomly follow 5 people.
Loading the Star the first time is very slow. It will go faster on a wifi connection.
The star is a global ranking based on the top categories. If you were to click the Camera button then you could add things your opinion on just about anything based on the categories. *Note these are not working perfect and search is almost useless at this point. So you should be able to look up under category (things) movies, phones, brand names, food, etc...
So far thank you all for initial testing. What I really need some feedback on is whether or not facebook connect works as I've had a lot of problems at this front. Also if you are able to submit a camera pulse (In the app Camera Tab -> Use Camera) as some devices this crashes the app.
This thread is a reality check for a Nexus 5 and previously Nexus 4 owner. With my device currently at stock 4.4.2, I keep noticing the same thing happening as before:
The only place in the entire OS that I can notice stutter/lag is when I am quickly swiping across the widget screens. Period. I am not sure if this is because of Android's approach to drawing objects, not having a separate system thread for UI or something else.
The bottom line is that from a UI performance perspective, this is Android's Achilles' heel. The question is, if and when this is going to be fixed, assuming of course it is among Google's priorities.
Anyone else caring to share their thoughts?
I think a lot of it has to do with what a user puts on their screens. I dont have this problem myself, though I use nova and possibly fewer widgets than most. Though previously I had an s3 and that had huge problems

Sorry, probably I didn't put it right in my original post.
I am referring to the stock Android launcher (in Nexus 5's case, the Google Experience Launcher), and not the homescreens, but the widget collection screens.
I admit that I too have used 3rd party launchers (Action Launcher was my latest) and the stutter was either minimal or totally absent. I think this alone is an indication that the lag is a software and not a hardware issue.
Oh I see....

There's a problem on KitKat with text wrap/reflow not working even if you install AOSP browser.
Issue raised @ http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=62378
Please star and reply if you think it's a stupid regression.

That's a workaround of sorts but not everyone likes the same browser. I'm a fan of AOSP browser with quick controls and word wrap.
Google have removed basic functionality on web enabled devices. I hope the issue raised on google code will get some attention.

My point is, its not a problem with kitkat if other browsers can do it. Just that the webkit the stock browser uses doesn't do it.
I've lived without it for a while now and dolphin is a good solution.

it's a fine cause because it affects other browsers too, boat ff ect, but it will get no where
it's a shame Google have to knobble others work because they can't do it themselves

Sorry but you are empirically wrong. KitKat doesn't include other browsers. It includes a broken browser where you have to scroll left and right to read text or alternatively, see all the text at once albeit completely zoomed out and illegible
Let's get this onto the first page of issues on the google code site when sorted by number of stars.
It's on page 2 at the moment.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=62378
^star it please if you think users should be able to read text on websites using the default/aosp browser without having to scroll left and right just to read each line.
Word wrap is a basic feature. notepad does it. Microsoft word v1 did it. Previous versions of android did it. Kitkat doesn't !?!

KitKat is the OS. The Browser is an app. If the problem was with the OS then it wouldn't make any difference which app was used. Since the problem doesn't exist with Dolphin browser the issue is not with the OS.

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong
The old webview was deprecated from the operating system so word wrap stopped working on all browsers.
Then dolphin got around it by incorporating their own engine.
It's still very broken at the os level.
Support has been removed from the operating system
I'm not sure how to make it any clearer

Lol @ the ad hominem attack
If you can't attack the logic, attack the man.
As it stands browsers will have to reinvent the wheel if they want to use text wrap.
Google deliberately broke this. Maybe it's a patent issue. Only they know I guess.
Edit : Have a look at the pictures in this post - http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=62378#c7
@obvious is right, the webkit has this removed. However apps like dolphin have their own rendering so they circumvent the "issue". As with most aspects of android, the choice to use 3rd party apps is there.
