The problem:
I would like to use SMS/Whatsapp like iMessage; one inbox and when sending auto detect method (SMS/Whatsapp)
I have been googling for this subject for quite a while and I can't seem to find the solution and I really don't (want) to believe that this has not been developed yet; Whatsapp is cross platform and therefore would be better than just iPhone to Iphone, BB to BB etc. How could they not have developed this yet @ Whatsapp...
@admin / mod,
Sorry for placing the question in the wrong section. I can't seem to find out how to move topics either (guess my number of posts clearly reflects my noobism). If needed, could you please move this topic to Q&A
I Think this imposible. Whatsapp it's a third party app. Whatsapp cannot integrate with any brand.
Maybe in the future we use RCS (Rich Communication Suite). It´s a chat system that integrat in any phone.

It's actually perfectly possible. If the whatsapp developers included SMS in their app then it would be what the OP is asking for. It's just a 3rd party SMS app, and there's plenty of them around.
In answer to the OP, get in touch with the whatsapp developers and ask them if they have any plans to integrate SMS. What you're asking does make sense, but it doesn't currently exist, so go suggest it

Moving to Q&A
I've seen all kind of apps 'manipulating' and catching in / out going text messages so whatsapp should be perfectly capable of doing such a think. The thing is; I thought I wasn't looking for it correctly. It simply cannot be that I am the only one thinking about this with the release of iMessage. To bad I cannot code a thing like that but this could be a money bomb if whatsapp fails to take on the market.
Workaround...
i came across the same thing the OP wanted , and its simply not working , whereas if long tap contact > send message > and i choose "viber" , it works perfectly... think its something whatsapp developers have to fix....
workaround....
but , if u click on the contact portrait , then u will have that pop up with all avaliable communication apps , and u click on whatsapp icon , then it will redirect u to that contact's chat window..
i know its not as convenient as setting it the default sms app , but there is nothing we can do about it but waiting for the developers of whatsapp to fix that...i attached a screenshot of it...
hope this helps....
cheers...

i just bought my tilt, just flashed to dutty v3 room and now i get a weird text every 4 mins. the number is 111145643 and it says wvi1 1.1 1111. is there anyway i can stop that text?
thanks!
Hmm I think you should call your carrier. Unless your phone is somehow sending itself a message, the kaiser probably isn't the culprit.
did you have express mail setup? if so you have to reinstall it on the phone then log onto the express mail server and delete the connection that you made for push e-mail or turn off push, then uninstall express mail on the phone and reset. you should be OK
^^I stand corrected!
I think that is for the IM+ program that ATT provides on their roms for im. The company is called wireless village i believe. I was bugged by it for a while, well the full hour I had my device before I flashed schaps!
I use Palringo until trillian gets a clue about wireless devices. It can sync with AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Gtalk, and others.
BTW, It uses data instead of sms to send messages like the IM+ does.
i had the same question but alltheway awnsered it for me already... its kind of a side effect of flashing sometimes. it will go away on its own. i think i got it like 8 times and havent had it since.

its not necessarily a side affect of flashing, it can go away if you reinstall the app that was on the old rom that is causing it... its something that was installed on your previous rom that used silent sms to alert the program to perform a specific function. LIke PTT, expressmail, or the cing/att IM client (to tired to remember the name)... When these programs are running your phone will recieve a ghost message that is only read by the app to wake it up. Alot of these problems were seen in the hermes thread and PTT.
Nope....That is what you get when someone tries to PTT you. Without PTT you get an SMS message. The way PTT works is basically Voice MMS messaging with a trigger to open & close the voice connection (PTT Button) Those digits you see are altered SMS addresses, they are altered so that PTT can recognize them & shift it from SMS to PTT.
Agin, whenever you kill PTT, you lose the ability to decipher the modified address & hence, it's received as a MMS instead. The reason you keep getting it is because the request that was sent retries a certain number of times before failing.
why dont you ask that question in the correct thread....the one that deals with your rom??

Well, that would make Dutty's never ending post even longer. We should save that post for other problems directly regarding the rom, and comments on new updates.
Beside, I believe the problem has nothing to do with Dutty's V3, it work flawlessly for me.
I am just so tired of more or less stupid questions that constantly are repeated because newies does not take their time and READ before starting threads and asking questions. This has to stay in the DUTTY thread - my opinion.
We shouldnt end up in a new HERMES forum with all the noise and bad mouth it had last year
I do not have anything against stupid questions in general - just do some searching and reading first..
So welcome all - lets use SEARCH some more..

Wow man take a breath! Your gonna get an ulcer.
to his defense i havn't seen this question in dutty's thread at all. and i've only seen it once but not onthe kairser forums. so cut him a lil slack. plus we all learn something from it...ptt or express mail can cause this. thats sure something i didnt know. hope all is well now...enjoy your device sir.
This question was answered on the hermes forum. That is how I solved my issue. I still believe it deals with the IM app from att that uses wireless village. Ill try to find some links to help get it solved.
I couldnt find the thread in the hermes section that described the issue. It might be from OZ messanger and not IM+. It is the version that comes preinstalled from the ATT rom. It is designed to use sms to im therefore making ATT more money.
I had the same text messages when I first got the Kaiser and ran the im software. I believe my test message had a different set of numbers at the end.
Here is a link to Wireless Village. They are a group that is promoting interoperability between handsets for a variety of functions (IM included).

EDIT:
I found this article from the cingular...er...ATT forums. This is the issue I originally had and the same text from the same number. The issue below is because OZ messenger was closed and not properly exited.
http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board/message?board.id=samsung&message.id=16362
I spent all day yesterday figuring this out. I downloaded and install the .cab file to my storage card and then logged into the IM program (OZ). After signing out, it kept me logged into all 3 services (Yahoo, AIM, and MSN) and then I proceeded to receive 40+ text (SMS) messages b/c it was trying to "reach me". After sitting on the phone for about an hour and half with a great Data Service Tech Rep, we figured it out and now the IM program works just fine.

I'm getting the message from 1111470400 and all it says is WVCI 1.1 333.

You know - Generally I don't get into these types of little spit / spat arguments - but today you have caught me at the perfect time.
Martinhdk - you are the type of person that makes dealing with the public so hard. You complain about things that aren't even worth complaining about. Sure - it was Dutty's ROM, but in essence had absolutely nothing to do with the ROM, it's probably the push to talk causing the issue. (Because I have the same issue) You had to try and prove yourself by spouting off and telling someone how to run things, when really, you were in the wrong.
Sometimes people get anxious and maybe don't do as much searching as they possibly should. Big DEAL - you are in a forum and since forums began it has been a problem. Does this require that you lay into the guy and tell him how stupid his question is? NO, it doesn't. You must be one very unhappy individual who probably lives a very lonely life - do us all a favor, in the future; keep your comments to yourself and let the moderators do their job.
I apologize to XDA - I know this thread / forum is not used for this. I just feel that sometimes these guys who insult someone younger / or maybe just not as experienced have a tendency to scare these guys away and I don't feel that is right.
i had the same exprience , its not the problem with your carrier , its the ATT IM+ app , if you exit the app w/o logging out of messenger app you keep getting this wierd msg , i tried unintsallng the app but no luck , finally i relashed a new rom and the error went away.
SOLUTION
What you do is you sign in to AIM at a desktop computer, the screenname you signed in on your phone. than a message will pop up saying you are signed in at two places and if you reply to that window with "1" it will sign you out at the other location, your phone. that should stop the messages.
the AIM service on your phone used txt msgs and when you close the program without first signing out. it usually causes that problem.
Stealth message?
I've heard of this so called "stealth" text message used by the carriers to send commands to the phone. My next question is - is it possible to send one of these so called "Stealth" messages from a phone to anther phone - with the proper instructions encoded in the text msg to automatically appear either on the users screen or in their inbox? I have heard this is possible but am very interested if someone could provide me a little more insight on it....
It's possible, it's been done. Would you like to know how? How do you want to send the malicious code? BT? WIFI? MMS? Maybe I can get you my bank account number & ssn while I'm at it?
There are other forums for that type of stuff, some proggies to do this are actually security auditing tools. Most all means though require the user to acknowledge receipt of whatever you send & then require them to execute it. However, I sincerely doubt that anyone here is going to give you any means to do something that may harm someone's device. Sure, you just want to play a prank, but how about the guy you then teach it to?
Question is simple:
HOW TO: Increase size of caller id picture / photo?? during incoming/outgoing calls...
but without using any 3rd party software but just by registry or some other manual tweak...
How it's done?? Someone help!
I've used Blue Angel/PDA 2K for 4 years, & there is a great possibility in PDA 2k at increasing/decreasing contact pictures while incoming or outgoing call, besides it has a more hands-on and enhanced software of Photo Contacts than Universals'...
But it can be done in Uni, is'nt it so? BUT HOW?
The simplest way is to install S2U and activate full screen caller,
then use S2V to assign the photos to contacts,
Good luck!
respect the post bro!
thanks for your advice as a senior. its ok.
But it's clearly stated in my 1st post that
1. NO 3rd Party software
2. Only Manual tweak within the registry without installing anything.
Thanks.
There is no way without additional software modifications,
In your second post you mention about Photo Contacts program, you would like to know that it is a 3dy part program too.
The only way to increase (incoming) caller photos without any programs is to alter your Dialpad skin, but it will never be fullscreen anyway and I am not sure if there are such dial pad skins around fully compatible with WM6 and VGA (that's important if you are running on WM6 and above).
It's your choice,
the fast and easy way or..
Good luck!
<<In future PLEASE don't post same questions in multiple threads sections>>
first i wud like to say that i used "Photo Contacts" as a General term.
If any 3rd company has made a software over that general term, it's not
supposed to be applied everywhere like you just did. Sorry on your perception.
2ndly Bro, if u don't know the solution there's no need to fight, nor to show your attitude over someone that STOP posting & stop this stop THAT!
Discussion is the only part to success, not by fighting. REMEMBER THAT!
& Calm down, relax, get easy...This is a well balanced discussion, & fight is'nt excepted here but only precise knowledge/data.
Bro, Use a Blue Angel/PDA2k, then ur mind will get a little change,
that if features were more in WM2003, then why NOT in WM6.1 ??
I am flaming no one just, answering by facts,
I've had a Qtek 9090 too and know the program you are talking about
http://www.ixbt.com/pda/t-mobile/mda-compact/mda-compact-screen-photocontacts.png
Trust me,the way you asked to ''increase the size of caller id'' isnt realizable.
No offense,
just use some workarounds and you'll get something better and in fullscreen.
(and in future if you will find a Reg Tweak to make that, fell free to post it)
As for ''STOP posting & stop this stop THAT!'' I remember you to read and follow General XDA-Developers Rules

Nothing personal
Have a good day!
dear dr Fuma, for a while, waiting for some one in unkown times found it in registry,
maybe you can visit here: http://www.pocketx.net/
hope can cheere your day
In Your BlueAngel there was no way to display caller ID photos by OS itself. There was additional software involved (3rd party software). Photo Caller ID was introduced in WM5.
BTW. I had animated gifs those times and i couldn't find any software which can do the same since then...
Hi there,
If you've all seen a standard Samsung phone, you'll have noticed that you can put a security code/PIN number on your items (Photos, messages etc..).
I was wondering if there was any application or feature out there that means I could impose one of these onto my WM6.1 Polaris? Everyone looks at my phone and every can read all my messages! When I go to look at their inferior phones... They have codes!
Any help is appreciated.
Bumped. Any ideas?
No-one? I'd really like to find an answer.
I remember a new program posted not long ago, that should do what you are looking for. It was posted in Development and Hacking and I think the name was just 'lock'. You then have to make all your links to your messages into links to this lock program, which will ask for a code and then redirect you to your messages. It will still be possible to launch tmail.exe in the Windows directory directly (but I don't think a lot of people will have any clue on how to do this anyway).

hope that helps

Hi everyone,
I am wondering why there is no alternative to push bullet when it comes to answering whatsapp messages on PC. All the apps that support something in that direction, only support SMS.
1. Why the run towards supporting SMS? The only people I know that still use SMS are those dinosaurs who do not have a smartphone. Why is the option to reply to SMS heavily promoted as convenient when 95% of our communication uses messengers that are not supported?
2. Why is no one ranting about all those apps not supporting messengers, why do all journalists only promote those apps as convenient, never criticizing the lack of important features?
3. Is there a technical limitation that prevents other app developers to support replying to messages from messengers like Whatsapp, Disa etc? Why is PushBullet technically able to reply to those messages but no other app?
4. Are there just too few people like me that want such a PC client there just is no demand for a desktop (i.e. Windows) client that supports such a thing?
I would really like to have an alternative to that ridiculously overpriced pushbullet premium service.
Why should I pay such a big fee every month for an app that in theory only needs my wifi as ressource, not any cloud services, traffic from the developers etc, meaning no running costs for the devs?
I would have paid 4€ once for the app because what I would be buying is a finished product that does not produce costs for the developers after that but I'm sure as hell not going to pay money each month just to be allowed to continue using an app.
Sorry for the rant but I would really be interested in your opinions on this topic, especially in technical explanations why there is no such an app besides pushbullet. I'm thinking about writing my own app some day for this purpose since there is just no free solution that suits my demands.
