Hi all,
I've had 7 Transformers tested for defects before I ended up with a decent one (So I thought!).
The first 3 tablets had dust beneath the screen so I didn't bother testing them for any other issues (In fact I wasn't even aware of other issues at that time).
After that I decided to wait for the Tab 10.1 but when I learned they stripped it of all extendability options I decided to give the Transformer another go.
After picking up another it seemed fine in the store but when I got home it had very noticeable screen bleeding at the left bottom (extending towards the center).
After showing the device to a friend, which had bought one as well, we noticed that mine had a yellow tinted screen and was much less bright than his one (He had a B7 version, mine was a B8).
After swapping mine over for another at the store, we unboxed 3 more to find a decent one that had an acceptable light bleeding amount (They all had it, some even worse than my initial one).
I ended up with a B8 again, it also had the yellow tinted screen, which I accepted for the lack of a better one and it didn't bother me too much to exchange it.
But after playing with it for a while I noticed that whenever a static screen stays on longer than 5 minutes it would get burned in (Image retention) and dissipate in approximately the same time as it took to get there (The longer the worse).
After drawing for about 45 minutes I could had the drawing as background on the setting screen, browsing the market and getting a drink left me with the complete market and app icons on every grey screen, my jaw just dropped...
Anyone else encountered this issue?
After talking to my friend about it, his B7 seemed to not having this issue at all, but a new one he bought for his uncle (Also a B8 with the yellow screen) did suffer from this as well. He even let it run over night and was left with his home screen on every screen for a couple of hours!
It really bothers me that this device had so much issues. It's a great device otherwise, but the QC sucks big time, a shame really!
How long does the images stay on the screen? I was playing games for like one hour and I notice this issue too, however, after I left the tablet off for a few minutes, the retention disappeared.
It depends on how long the static image has been displayed in my experience.
I've seen it stay on for minutes gradually dissolving in the grey background.
Here's another screen shot made with SketchBook from Autodesk (Great tool BTW). I was drawing for let's say 45 minutes and this is what happened after I saved the picture (It's supposed to be grey!).

wow, quick ask for RMA dude
I all ready contacted Asus support, haven't heard back from them yet though.
I'm going to contact the the supplier as well..
Does nobody else encounter this?
If so..
Which revision do you have?
What color temp does you screen have (yellow tinted)?
To make it happen, just let the screen on for at least 5 minutes (the longer the better) on a static contrast rich image for example a search page in the market.
Open settings and check if it looks anything like the last picture from the first post.
Which country did you buy all these B8 models from please? Not heard of any B8's before now.
I have a B7 model and have not experienced any of the issues you are experiencing. The only issue that seems to be present on my TF is the browser force closing somewhat often.
I wonder if the software mods made to the B8 models is affecting the screen retention and yellow hue. From everything I have seen online it seems those of us that got B7 models are very fortunate. Please keep us updated what resolutions Asus support presents you with.

It's being sold in the Netherlands for at least a couple of weeks now.
I've came across another forum where people were talking about the yellow screen as well:
(Can't post links so search in google for "yellow screen asus transformer" and click on the transformerforums link.)
Although they are talking about a B6 and B7 revision. It seems to be the same issue, nothing about the retention issue though.
I did notice however that someone wrote that his B7 has a rounded MicroSD card slot which only appeared over here on the B8, the B7's MicroSD slot still has the same appearance as the other slots on the device and dock.
Even the the link to the other forum they mention that the B7 has the yellow tinted screen which in my experience isn't the case. Maybe there B7 is our B8?
Overal the B8 seems to be better build, no cracking, no scuff marks on the black rim, rounded MicroSD slot, it seems to be somewhat lighter as well.
But unfortunately the screen seems to be crap as I've seen 3 B8's having the same yellow tinted screen.
Asus hasn't responded yet, but the re-seller did.
Still haven doubts about exchanging it for a B7, if still available, (Or B9?) or try my luck with another brand.
Here are some B8 and B7 comparison shots. Guess there is no need to say which one is which.
(Spoiler: Left B8, Right B7)
I'm returning mine tomorrow as agreed with the store. Asus wasn't much help and only replied with a common reaction saying they do everything to eliminate the growing pains of this product. (Kinda weird since they introduce this issue in a new badge since the B7 has a way better screen)
So to all B8 owner, check your screen and return is to the store if affected. Don't put up with bad QC and poor (probably cheaper) replacement parts!
First image was displayed on both devices for approx. 15 minutes. The other display the screen after this time with the home screen (grey background) and the save dialog of SketchBook Express.
You know I noticed this problem for the first time today, my TF is B4
Mine was the time on the home screen staying for a few seconds after I opened an app
Not impressed this is happening after 1 week
Does you screen have a yellow hue?
The thread on transformerforums also mentioned different badges (B6 and B7) having this screen. Every B7 I've seen so far has the nice looking screen, all B8's had the yellow ****ty one.
Guess the screen are used in all badges. It should be somehow made detectable without having another one for comparison, any ideas?
No my screen is perfect coloured, everything is fine except for this retension I noticed today
I hope it is nothing serious and will always disappear after a while

I didn't notice the screen color tint myself as well, just when I saw a B7 next to it in comparison I noticed the difference even though the B7 tends to be more purplish then real white, it is way better calibrated.
It does seems to be something you'll have to put up with, depending on how long a image persists on the screen, but it always dissipates in a couple of minutes (again depending on the time it stayed on the screen in the first place) and I haven't seen it get worse nor less over time.
You could except and live with it, but in my opinion it gives a manufacturer, in this case Asus, the means to sell "defective" products, which we shouldn't accept!
It's not like you got as a present after you bought honey from a supermarket.
Yea I agree, its not something we should just accept, but I have a feeling there will be no solution to the problem other than getting a refund and waiting for the TF2 or getting a different Tablet.
I expect there is some issues with all of these screens, Light bleed, Image Retention etc
I doubt getting a new one from the company would solve it, more chances of getting one with even more problems.
The device is under warranty for a year minimum, so in 6-10 months we can return them as faulty under warranty and grab a better new model so I`m not too bothered just yet. In 10 months the wow factor will have worn off and we will be looking at newer faster ones anyway.
Just returned mine and checked one more to find massive bleeding again. So it's a refund for me. The B8 had light bleed as well but it was "acceptable" since it was only noticeable in very dark conditions the retention was just not acceptable too me.
There are good ones which have almost no issues whatsoever, getting one is pretty hard though.
The fact that there are so much differences between the same product only acknowledge my suspicion that Asus isn't able to cope with the demand and it's quite obvious the QC is being left out completely and they revert to other suppliers for parts to keep up with it.
Well when it comes to warranty, Asus has a very bad track record here in Europe. Better buy a new one since the probability of getting it back even worse is very high, essentially getting caught in an endless loop.
I don't refer product quality based on probable usage time, but based on price point.
And it's not cheap!
I'll maybe check stock again in a month or so (B9, B10), if I haven't decided to buy another brand. A shame it's a nice concept, but bad realization.
I had a inspire 4g for a while, obtained directly from an AT&T store; I got another one for my brother a couple of weeks later in EBAY.
I wanted to give him the old one and keep the new one.
Once I had them side by side I notices irregularities:
1.
the brightness (with manual settings all the way to 100) on the Screen seemed different, the EBAY one had a little less brightness on it, the older one also seemed to have better contrast so you see some details. the color quality is different, the EBAY one seems to have a more yellowish screen toning where the Older one has a blueish coloring (colder).
2.
my dissapointment grew higher when I test the cameras and got totally different results. EBAY("NEW") seems to have a give grannier results on photos and videos. the output videos where bigger and seemed smoother on the OLD phone. video bitrate and kbps on audio where lower on the 'newone'.
3.
the metal on the housing for the EBAY phone gets scratches easier (by far) than the Old AT&T.
Other than that the phone seems ok, all works fine.
my questions are:
what could cause this? refurbished phone? bad parts? RADIO? ROM(Froyo/gingerbread)? any ideas on a possible fix?
is this really a ripoff? a refurbished phone with crappy parts (camera, body housing and LCD)?
Anyone with similar experiences? should I return it?
as a side note one had the stock froyo rom(EBAY), the other one the updated gingerbread rom(, so I'm not sure if that may cause .
About a year and a half ago, I got a counterfeit HTC Magic off ebay. It had similar discrepancies. Bland LCD, low res camera, but otherwise looked stock.
I did a search, but got no hits for "counterfeit [inspire][desirehd]" and I don't thing that would be an easy one to fake, so I really doubt that that is the case, but I can't think of anything else.
Return it... First impressions are the best impressions... If you're not happy with it now, you won't be happy with it later...

Anyone notice some issues with the display showing some ghosting/persistence of the previous image when switching to a display/app with a very gray color such as the Amazon Appstore app? Easiest way I can see is when I load up something like the Android market, let it sit for 5 or so seconds, then load up the Amazon Appstore (it helps to have them previously loaded so you can just switch between the two), you can see some lines and images left over from the Android Market in the grey areas in the Amazon Appstore. For me it's easiest to see under the 'My Apps' part as there is a lot of gray.
This seems to happen at all brightness levels but mostly when the unit is just first turned on. After using the unit for a few minutes the ghosting/persistence of previous images doesn't happen as easily. Once you notice this thing, it's hard to not notice it. I can even notice it in the small gray bars in the Pulse application, for instance. Seems rather annoying. I've had a couple of Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus's before this one and did not notice this issue, but it doesn't mean it wasn't there and I just missed it. Oddly this display seems better than my previous units in the fact that the color is more uniform, as the other ones had more yellowing towards the right side of the display (when in portrait mode) than this one. However, this ghosting/persistence issue is really bugging me.
I have a couple of Kindle Fire's and a Dell Streak 7 and a Lenovo Thinkpad tablet, and have had numerous other tablets, but have never noticed this before.
I've attached photos. You can see one is just of the Android Market. The 2nd is of me loading up the Amazon Appstore right after and you can see the ghost image of the Android Market in the gray areas.
Obviously this would not show up in a screenshot as it's a screen artifact, so I took pictures with my phone camera.
How long does it take an image to ghost the screen? How long does it take the ghosting to disappear?
For example, I was going to the Android Market app for only a few seconds. 5 or so seconds. When I then went to the Amazon Appstore app, it takes many many minutes for the ghosting to disappear.
It seems after using the device for 20 or so minutes straight, the ghosting doesn't happen. But if I put the tab down for 30 minutes and test again, it all happens again the same way.
It's pretty horrible looking. Not sure if it's just a bad one I got or if this is normal. Pretty sure this one is going back though. Sigh, I really like this tab.
i haven't really experienced this with my P6200 with DXKL3 firmware and even with my past firmwares
This is a P6210 R62 serial. UEKL1 firmware.
I just downgraded to UEKK3 (couldn't find anything older) and the problem is still there. Did a factory reset too of course.
Can anyone else test this and let me know what they see? I'm on the brink of my return policy and need to figure out if this is a defect or just a normal thing with these PLS screens. It seems to only be an issue with the color gray.
Neither of my P6210's displays exhibit any ghosting.

Definitely do not have this problem with mine:
GT-P6210
S/N - R62BA3219Z
ROM - KL1
This seems to be possibly a problem with displays lately. People are calling it 'burn-in' but it's not the same as the old traditional CRT 'burn-in'. To me I could only really see it on a gray screen. If I went to the browser and opened a white screen, it wasn't there. But certain shades of gray made it very obvious.
If you search around it appears people are having issues with it most recently with the transformer prime. This appears to be another case (not as dramatic of a 'burn-in' as mine) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432388 and this guy mentions it too - http://androidforums.com/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime/481834-screen-burn.html
Either way, I did return the galaxy tab 7.0 plus. The problem was driving me nuts. I have a Kindle Fire that didn't have the problem, and I couldn't justify keeping a $400 device with tihs problem when the $200 one I was holding didn't have any problem like that.
I couldn't reproduce it on the galaxy tab in BB either, but the gray's on that screen appeared to be much darker overall. My guess is they're just using different screen batches or something. That's the problem with this stuff now a days, parts are sourced from all over made by different manufacturuers in different plants with different parts and so on. Too much variation.
So this is at least your third 7 Plus unit? What was the matter with each of the previous ones you purchased?
Also, where did you buy them from? And what part of the country? Might be your supplier who has defective bunches and I just want to be sure to avoid them.
I tried this multiple times and it never happened on mine. A P6210 with the latest firmware.
Ok I have returned my 32Gb One X due to flickering and getting my refund. Will this phone be available on Sunday?? Anyone seen any of the flickering or other issues with these?? I loved the one I had but the flicker at first I could live with but it got worse . Any known problems I should be looking for??
32GB? Ive read that the early European models had this issue, but the Rogers version and the AT&T review units (and the few who received them yesterday) have not had any screen issues.

Are you sure we are talking about the HTC One X or is it the AT&T One X? There haven't been any reports of screen flickering on the AT&T One X version. I'm asking because you stated the phone is 32 GB yet the AT&T One X only supports 16...
Yes i bought the One X International version. It flickered not to bad at first but got worse as it went on. was visibly flickering on screen at all brightness.
Haven't kept up fully on the flickering issue, but from what I read over on the "other" forum, it seemed that it was being attributed to a GPU issue. Since the AT&T uses a completely different chipset, it may be free of this issue.
The only real big issues I've read about on the AT&T/Rogers versions so far is the yellowish tint on some LCD panels, and some people having weak WiFi signal.
Really weak wifi with a plastic composite or whatever body that seems strange.
Oh dear. I was excited when my new Samsung Upgrade Programme S22 Ultra 512GB was delivered this morning in UK.
During the Smart Switch process from my previous S20+ I noticed this green flashing pixel in the centre of the screen. Initially it was when I had the phone charging but now its flashing all time on all screens.
This must be a hardware issue surely? See photos. Could this be software, I think not?
I'm not talking about the little green indicator you seen in the top right hand corner when the camera is open.
'll be sending it back today for a replacement. Anyone else seeing this issue or similar?
that is unfortunate. try changing screen mode to vivid and or display to fhd to see if it disappears. if it does then software issue that should be fixed in future update. if not, return. also report the issue via Samsung members app
Looks like hardware issue to me. These things happen. Unfortunately, it happened to you.
Refund or replacement it is then.
Have had all Galaxy models from the S4 to this S22 ultra 1GB. Never had a dead pixel, until now. Too left side of the screen, green like yours. Did you get it replaced?
I've the same but in blue. My fone is just 8days old.
Use ScreenTest, try in safe mode.
Almost certainly a bad display.
The failure/issue rate of the Samsung variable refresh rate displays is higher than the equally large N10+ display. Not good.
Send it back... to drop the ball Sammy

I called Samsung, went through loads of stupid tests then ended up sending it back. They replaced the screen. I suggest you do the same. Took about 5 days.
