Android User Dictionaries - Miscellaneous Android Development

(not sure if this is the right forum) but the default dictionary is missing a lot of standard acronyms and offensive words. Every time I install a new ROM I backup and restore my personal dictionary but was wondering if anyone has a pretty extensive dictionary they could upload (English) that has more, because I continue to find and save words/acronyms that haven't been included.
Just in this thread, the word "Rom" had to be added.
Thanks

Free language translate service for XDA Developers

I'm not the big coder for PDA/Smartphone, so I was wondering how I else could contribute to this great site.
I found out that we do not have any people dedicated to translate our software into other languages and thereby secure that XDA will reach the great masses.
I therefore search for people that want to help translating to their own language, not just one person pr language as the more the better.
And I also want to hear from developers about what kind of syntax they use for their language files, maybe we should make a common template to how these are made. This is because I am about to make a program that can display these files in a way so they are very easy to edit and review.
Future features i am thinking of implementing is:
OpenOffice Dictionary support
Google Translate support
The idea is that developers submit their file to my site and it is then imported into an online database that the program extract from.
When people have edited a file it is then submitted but not completed until someone else have reviewed it, simply to wipe out any simple grammar or spelling mistakes.
Feedback please...

I think it unnecessary.
Now,many online translation in internet,we don't need language translate service for xda-developers......
I'm a Chinese.Between Chinese and Latin,I think it have much different....
We can use online translation to browse the xda.
But I really hope xda support more language.
For example,Chinese in xda-developers is messy code.
I don't know what time can be solved......

I think you misunderstood it, it is for the applications that are made by this great forum and not the forum itself.
This way f.ex. the maker SleepSense could just send his english language file and then the community would translate it to each of their own language, and thereby helping that XDA Market apps will have an edge over other, by supporting a lot of languages which others dont.

[Q]Adding dictionaries to SlideIt keyboard

First of all I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate section, but I thought this is where I should ask about this.
I started recently to type with the SlideIt keyboard, very very cool keyboard and very similar to swype. But I am not satisfied by some of the dictionaries the market provide for it.
I want to know if I can take a proper romanian (for example) dictionary and introduce it in the app, just like people did with Swype. Swype didn't previously have a lot of dictionaries, but users added them.
Is there any specific source I can take dictionary files from, and add them in a custom keyboard? I am not asking only about SlideIt, I am talking about keyboards in general, can I add other dictionaries to them?
For the record, I already have Swype with the preferred dictionary, but SlideIt feels much more comfortable and smoother. The romanian dictionary in the market is simply pathetic, it barely contains 10% of all the Romanian words. Can I take the dictionary from swype for example and introduce it in SlideIt?
I already searched both google and xda forums but I found no solution.
Thank you and again, sorry if this isn't supposed to be asked here.
Well, is it possible?
Ukhm...anyone? :|

ICS Stock Keyboard Autocorrect

Is there any way to make a suggestion default?
For example,
(x is a replacement for any other word)
If I type "x," the automatic replacement would be "x." I was wondering if I could make the hi into "X" just by a default.
So if I would to type: "Hey guys, my name is x." It would turn into "Hey guys, my name is X."
I tried Auto capitalization, but that only works for the first word in a sentence and "I"s.
So is there a way to make a suggestion in the suggestion box default?
try out some keyboards, some are more customizable than others. Some, learn your texting habits and change the autocorrect suggestions accordingly. Also, in the system settings > language and input, you can configure the autocorrect dictionary.
Might I suggest to you, that instead of creating a new thread for every question you come up with, just post in the 'stupid questions' sticky, to keep the forum clean, and post questions relevant to specific roms, in their q & a thread.
Thanks.

Help together translating apps

Hi everybody, I'm a developer and I'm having problems translating my app, I speak only italian and a bad english, but good enough to translate my app in a comprensible english...
I think lot of you have the same problem so, this is an " international " forum, so why can't we help together translating our apps ?
we could create a section near "Android Apps and Games" like Translations, create a thread for each app needs a translation and use http://www.getlocalization.com/ , it should be free using public workspaces, it works very well, reads the xml you upload, let users translate and then you can donwload the translated version of the xml, ready to put in the values_it folder of eclipse
what do you think ?
for example, this is the repository of my app http://www.getlocalization.com/sam/
using this open translation we could avoid things like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867245 ( people that want and can help you in a few minutes and don't know how to do) and have our app worldiwde distributed
I would like to help but my english is good but not good enough
sony xperia ray ics 4.0.4
stock rom unrooted
nobody is interested in helping together translating our apps in languages different than English?

Google Keyboard personal dictionary

Hi Guys,
Hope you all had a great weekend. I have been using Google Keyboard extensively ever since it was launched. I am a bengali and i usually store bengali words written in English in my personal dictionary. And it used to work wonderfully. After the recent update to the keyboard (which included sync as a functionality) i have been having a lot of difficulty with my personal dictionary. Some words are recognized while others are not. For a person with >2,000 entries in personal dictionary its a nightmare. Do any of you face the same trouble? Do u know the solution? Same is happening to my wife's Galaxy S4.
Please help.
regards,
Shuvabrata
