Google Keyboard personal dictionary - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Hope you all had a great weekend. I have been using Google Keyboard extensively ever since it was launched. I am a bengali and i usually store bengali words written in English in my personal dictionary. And it used to work wonderfully. After the recent update to the keyboard (which included sync as a functionality) i have been having a lot of difficulty with my personal dictionary. Some words are recognized while others are not. For a person with >2,000 entries in personal dictionary its a nightmare. Do any of you face the same trouble? Do u know the solution? Same is happening to my wife's Galaxy S4.
Please help.
regards,
Shuvabrata

[Q]Adding dictionaries to SlideIt keyboard

First of all I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate section, but I thought this is where I should ask about this.
I started recently to type with the SlideIt keyboard, very very cool keyboard and very similar to swype. But I am not satisfied by some of the dictionaries the market provide for it.
I want to know if I can take a proper romanian (for example) dictionary and introduce it in the app, just like people did with Swype. Swype didn't previously have a lot of dictionaries, but users added them.
Is there any specific source I can take dictionary files from, and add them in a custom keyboard? I am not asking only about SlideIt, I am talking about keyboards in general, can I add other dictionaries to them?
For the record, I already have Swype with the preferred dictionary, but SlideIt feels much more comfortable and smoother. The romanian dictionary in the market is simply pathetic, it barely contains 10% of all the Romanian words. Can I take the dictionary from swype for example and introduce it in SlideIt?
I already searched both google and xda forums but I found no solution.
Thank you and again, sorry if this isn't supposed to be asked here.
Well, is it possible?
Ukhm...anyone? :|

[APP] iris the sister to Siri

Here's another Siri like App. Check it out, now in the Android Market
It's in the Alpha stage but can be improved with suggestions from the community.
This is not my application, here's the developer site for suggestions. I'm just putting the word out about the App http://blog.dexetra.com/iris-improved-goes-live-on-android-market

Cute. Something I can boast again!
it's very slow. Have to wait for a while to get the answer.
very slow indeed, and i noticed that it has a problem that my system language is german, it "parses" the answers in english, so it's somehow buggy cause it always searches for the "germanized" version of what i said.
it should be possible to select voice language in the program, not only through system
the name is cool though
You should add the option to update Facebook status.
You can translate in French please ?
And it's true that it is a little slow.
I can help in the translation.
cool apss
I question whether this application supports the Polish language
sorry for mistakes but here in poland not many people speak English

[jelly bean ] Text to speech has only four languages

Italy. Germany. Spanish and French
But why?
If u want Google now to say something, change the system language into English ( I use Japanese). But I need both Japanese and Chinese offline language pack for daily use,
so
Where can we get 'em?
rock with nexus s with xda app
Sorry I didn't realize I should post in that thread, please lock this post.
thank you
rock with nexus s with xda app
Luckily I am Italian and I can speach English Spanish and germany .. but I think that Google will release other languages in few days
I'm disappointed by Jelly Bean. The new Google Voice Search doesn't work in French. Sure it perfectly recognizes and transcribes my queries, but instead of answering questions it just runs a Google web search.
This is even more disappointing since the old Google Voice search no longer exists; under ICS I could at least use the basic functions in french "Call xxx (even if they're not on my contact list)", "Send text", "Set alarm", etc.
Simply cause we are cool and you not ...
Just jocking
For sure google will release language pack asap
and it's still better than only english speakin siri...
Just be patient, JB ran out only few hours ago

Wrong, Siri worked in like a dozen of languages right when the iphone4s came out
so for the offline voice-typing you need a language pack? is google going to be releasing these as an update or something?

[Completed] [Q] Google keyboard personal dictionaries strange issue...

Hello,
I use the stock Google Keyboard (version 4.0.21203) with Greek and English languages installed.
Each time i add a new custom word, it's stored in a custom personal dictionary (named "zz") and not
in the English dictionary (or the "All languages" one), like it should. The worst thing is that words
stored in this elusive "zz" dictionary, don't show up as predictions when i type.
This thing is driving me insane for the last couple of years. I still haven't found any solution after
extensive searching on the web. I would be more than grateful to anybody who could help me with this.
(I've tried other keyboards like SwiftKey and Fleksy but i still prefer Google's one)
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I did some searching but I was unable to find anybody who has the same issue as you. You could try asking your question in the general q&a section here:
Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Or just change your keyboard, I know you like the Google keyboard but you might not have any choice.
Good luck!
Thread closed, thanks.

[Discussion] What Translation Apps Do You Use

I recently started dating a Chinese girl and have found that a Translation app can come in handy quite a bit. That got me thinking. What translation apps are the bros at XDA using? What would you recommend to others?
I am using S Translator on my S4 as I like how seamless I can go from Chinese to English and vice versa. I recommend people actually break this out as it does have manual text input as well as speech, as well as automatic readouts and is fairly easy to use.

Well if your current translator is working for you well I would keep using it. If you would rather try something else I would try Google translate which seems to be good.
