I'm not the big coder for PDA/Smartphone, so I was wondering how I else could contribute to this great site.
I found out that we do not have any people dedicated to translate our software into other languages and thereby secure that XDA will reach the great masses.
I therefore search for people that want to help translating to their own language, not just one person pr language as the more the better.
And I also want to hear from developers about what kind of syntax they use for their language files, maybe we should make a common template to how these are made. This is because I am about to make a program that can display these files in a way so they are very easy to edit and review.
Future features i am thinking of implementing is:
OpenOffice Dictionary support
Google Translate support
The idea is that developers submit their file to my site and it is then imported into an online database that the program extract from.
When people have edited a file it is then submitted but not completed until someone else have reviewed it, simply to wipe out any simple grammar or spelling mistakes.
Feedback please...

I think it unnecessary.
Now,many online translation in internet,we don't need language translate service for xda-developers......
I'm a Chinese.Between Chinese and Latin,I think it have much different....
We can use online translation to browse the xda.
But I really hope xda support more language.
For example,Chinese in xda-developers is messy code.
I don't know what time can be solved......

I think you misunderstood it, it is for the applications that are made by this great forum and not the forum itself.
This way f.ex. the maker SleepSense could just send his english language file and then the community would translate it to each of their own language, and thereby helping that XDA Market apps will have an edge over other, by supporting a lot of languages which others dont.

i think u should post this up in the Q&As
Official forum language is English. Though we respect users of other languages, the moderators and admin have agreed that no other languages should be used without translation.
If the moderators dont speak spanish, then how can they moderate your comments?
I remember a thread where someone posted a very abusive and 'colourful' rant in another language. It was quite funny when fed through a translator.

While I agree that it is just friendly to give a brief translation in English (it does not make sense to translate every single word),please think of this: A user who does not speak German will not have any use for a German ROM, so why invest too much time for translating all the posts, if anyone Non-German (-Austrian/Swiss/Luxemburg ...) is not interested in that posts?
jez83uk is right, a translation without knowledge of the language it is translated from does not really make sense.
And BTW: Why do you ask for an English version of ROMs in other languages, instead of using one of the English ROMs?
There was an Hispanic post in the Raphael thread where the OP asked if someone in the forum could translate his text as he felt that online translators would lose the "meaning" of his post/request. A member took the time to translate his post/request; one of his concerns was regarding Bluetooth operation with some applications - which after reading the translation, I provided some assistance with.
I wish I had the ability to quickly learn every language out there; but since I cannot, it was helpful in that particular situation to see an English translation. I agree that online translators aren't capable of providing a correct translation of meaning and content.
IMHO, even a simple line "Could Someone Please Help Translate ..." before the native language text could be sufficient so that someone can summarise the OP request/post in English.
Cheers,

Very well written. Thanks!
hi,
my name is Sydney and I am currently a student studying Russian Language at UCLA and I am posting here because I am looking for something to do and some work. If anyone out there is developing an app or has one that they would like to make more international, particular to Russian speakers, I would be happy to talk to you and see if we can work something about with me translating your app into Russian.
Feel free to message me with any questions or ideas.
Thanks a lot
Hi everybody, I'm a developer and I'm having problems translating my app, I speak only italian and a bad english, but good enough to translate my app in a comprensible english...
I think lot of you have the same problem so, this is an " international " forum, so why can't we help together translating our apps ?
we could create a section near "Android Apps and Games" like Translations, create a thread for each app needs a translation and use http://www.getlocalization.com/ , it should be free using public workspaces, it works very well, reads the xml you upload, let users translate and then you can donwload the translated version of the xml, ready to put in the values_it folder of eclipse
what do you think ?
for example, this is the repository of my app http://www.getlocalization.com/sam/
using this open translation we could avoid things like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867245 ( people that want and can help you in a few minutes and don't know how to do) and have our app worldiwde distributed
I would like to help but my english is good but not good enough
sony xperia ray ics 4.0.4
stock rom unrooted
nobody is interested in helping together translating our apps in languages different than English?
Hello!
My name is Willy Fuentes, I'm Spanish and although I am not an app developer I think I can contribute much to this developers community.
I am a translator, I worked in my country translating articles, documents etc and now help developers to translate their apps to Spanish so they can reach as many users as possible.:highfive:
I like my translations to be as perfect as possible, because Spanish is a difficult language and if you're not perfectionist translations just "sound weird".
if you're looking for someone to help you translate your apps into Spanish, for a good price I'm your man!
Please Any questions you have, just ask I'll be glad to answer you !

Please note: English language only on this website. Foreign language is fine if a proper English translation is also provided.
Forum Rule 4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities, not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English, use an online translator. You're free to include your original message in your own language, below the English translation. (This rule covers your posts, profile entries and signature).

If you can provide a better translation for the app above, please do so.
Well, that's the name of the app, that's how it's found in the Play store.
It means: Japan Sumou Union public app "Oozumou".
It's free, but you can't install it outside Japan, it just provides an interface to the Union's website at http://sumo.or.jp/ which is otherwise very inconvenient to navigate on the phone.
If anyone could install it and provide it, I'd be much obliged.
