[Q] MTP - Large Files - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Edit: nvm, looks like the was a conflict with N4 drivers, which I fixed now (as expected.)

Files not updating in USB storage mode

When I copy or delete files when in USB storage, no changes are seen by any app until a reboot. No app see the changes made after exit from USB storage mode. I have tried Astro, ES, PSX4Droid and other apps. Reboot or no changes applied. Index issue?
Anyone else seeing this issue? When I change files using Astro or ES, everything is fine. Issue pertains to file changes while in USB mode.
Using TnT Lite 2.0 + 2.03 patch.

I have same issue, rebooting makes them show up
I think the device is not being rescanned after the usb is turned off, so no updated index.
hmmm, might not be as stable as I would have liked it. Probably the performance pack at work.
I'm having bizarre issues with USB mode in Ubuntu + cwm. Maybe it's the vold binary.
EDIT: Seems to be the vold binary -- definitely fixes my own issue. I might have a 2.0.4 up tonight, as this might warrant it.

Does this mean we will lose Youtube and other improvements we got with patching 2.03 over 2.0?

I'm not certain - it's definitely a speed bump, but it might not be at the level of the performance pack.

Definitely problems, since some games vanish after a reboot. Ironically, Angry Birds is one of them. Install it and reboot- you will not see it anymore.
Very weird. Seems some major index failures going on.

[Q] Froyo updates and MTP application

Hi everyone - long time lurker, first time poster here. Anyway, I've been wracking my brain over this for some time and haven't been able to find an answer at all, so I apologize if my search skills aren't up to par.
Anyway, I've got a samsung captivate and I've successfully rooted and installed a few Froyo ROMs without issue (Cognition, Axura, etc). The problem Im encountering is that whenever I try to connect to my PC (4 different PC's actually - all some variant of windows 7 32 or 64 bit) in MTP mode, the Captivate shows up in the device manager as SAMSUNG_ANDROID with an exclamation point saying that the device could not be started.
My ultimate goal here is to sync the items with Windows Media center, because I create and update a lot of playlists and such on my HTPC, of which I'd like to keep up to date on my phone.
When I use the stock ROM, it works flawlessly - no issues at all
I've tried the following:
1. Search for files with extensions over 16 digits - nada
2. Tried using Kies, no luck at all there.
3. Various driver updates from various sources
4. Removing / unmounting my external SD card
Copying the files over manually works, but that doesn't give me playlists
Doubletwist really isnt an option, because it will only sync with the internal card, not the 32 gb external.
If anyone has ever gotten this to work, I'd be forever grateful.

You have a few different issues listed:
1. Playlist sync support doesn't work with the native player. Period. It stores all playlists in a database - Even Kies doesn't sync playlists.
2. Internal vs. External storage sync is dependent on software - some apps have no idea that there are 2 storage locations and pick the first.
As for getting MPT to work - I have had driver issues, and the solution was to uninstall everything - drivers and Kies, reboot and only install one driver. Since Froyo is not official - you have a 50/50 chance - either Captivate, or generic Samsung for all phones. I would try the captivate driver.
One other thing to look at - media monkey - it will sync to any SD card - you can pick the one - so you don't need MPT mode.
Yeah, I use the doubletwist App as my player - that reads WMP's playlists perfectly. As for the syncing, it's pretty much gotta be windows media center or nothing. I just love plugging it in and letting it auto-sync. Like I said, the stock firmware works perfectly for this (But sucks otherwise - hence why I root & update).
OK, I misunderstood - I was thinking Doublestwist desktop. I can't remember if MediaMonkey supports autosync - I think it does, but like I said it can do MTP or direct to SD - so very flexible. I bet it uses the same playlists (m3u i think).
Actually, I just tried your advice and uninstalled samsungs drivers completely and rebooted. It worked flawlessly, Im syncing now. Who'da thunk samsung's drivers would turn out to be the issue? Thanks so much dude, you rock.
Glad to help... I ran into wierd issues with Kies, Kies mini, and 3 sets of drivers installed... that fixed it for me, so it couldnt hurt you.

[Q] Xoom - XP SP2 connectivity

Hi folks.
I hope you can assist with this seemingly simple task - I just about have hair left on my head. Im having real problems getting this to work.
Windows does detect and install the device as an 'MZ604' but I think its using its own driver, as does not show in explorer to allow file access. It does work on a Win 7 PC in work OK automatically.
Ive tried multiple things after reading through posts - debug mode, different USB ports and also installed the moto drivers (which are running in task manager) but should I see some sort of app in the foreground? Whatever happened to a nice .inf file - I cant find one anywhere!
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

Problem MTP

I get problem for copy files since the device to PC, tried apps as Multi Mount Sdcard lite and others but not can copied files large since device to PC.
Any Solution for this problem will be thanks.
In devices Xperia the solution was this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doomlord.xperiasdcardmounter
Newer phones are using MTP for a whole host of reasons. (It's a shame MTP support was awful in Linux until very recently.)
I've ended up using an FTP server on the phone. You could use FileZilla on the PC side. The server is only turned on when you want it on.
It's not perfect, but it's working for me for the moment.

How to get custom One UI S-Pen writing sounds working? (ROOT)

I noticed the S23 Ultra adds in new sound effects for when you write with the pen in the Notes app. These are stored in system/media/audio/pensounds
The problem however is that they are just normal .wav files, when the older ones are in a proprietary .dat format. After some checking it turns out these .dat files are just uncompressed audio files, which can be imported into audacity by using the Raw Data option.
I tried taking the new .wav files and just pasted them over the old .dat files, and to some extent they work, but they are sped up and glitchy, so obviously not usable.
I also tried removing the RIFF headers from the files, and also making them 44KHz instead of their usual 22KHz, but that also didnt seem to fix it.
I am testing this by making it into a Magisk module, and installing it that way, so maybe something is screwing up there, because I even took the sounds and slowed them down, so that when they play sped up they play normally, but nope, still the same fast speed.
Has anyone ever gotten these .dat files figured out? If so, can you tell me how you got it working?
My device is a Samsung Note 9, with Noble ROM 3.0 Tropea.
Note: Cant use TWRP due to display issues, thats why I am using the Magisk module method rn.
