[Q] Help i hosed my Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hosed my nexus 5 trying to root it. I can get to the bootloader and recovery but when I try to use adb twrp says it failed. I have tried using a couple of different tools to get it back to stock but they reboot from the bootloader and it stops at the boot up screen and never goes any further. I really hope i can fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried flashing the factory image?

Do you mean that after a succesfull flash of the factory image in fastboot it will not boot and you`re stuck on the bootscreen? If so go into fastboot, go to recovery and wipe the caches and data factory reset and reboot.

I tried just tried to boot into recovery from the bootloader after flashing and got a android screen with a red triangle.

Press the power key and right after that volume up to get into recovery.

OK I was able to get into recovery. Did a factory reset and restarted and I am still stuck at the bootscreen.

How did you flash the factory images? Using the flash-all.bat?

And you flashed a full factory image before and the device was wiped completely? If yes the device is bricked bro and you`ll have to send it back bro.

I finally got it. Thanks for everyones help. I am so relieved.

nexus 5 stuck booting

I received my nexus 5 today. Unlocked the bootloader. Tried to install twrp. Gave up and decided to put it back to stock using multitool kit. Toolkit showed as every thing completed successfully but the phone doesn't get past the nexus boot screen. I can boot into the bootloader but that's it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Same happened to me after unlocking the bootloader. Here's what you need to do.
Boot into the bootloader and enter recovery.
Press and hold power and quickly press volume up, that will open the menu.
Wipe data/factory reset.
The phone will reboot and you should be good to go.

Looks like Google fixed the by-pass data wipe exploit we used with the n4.

Press and hold Power + Volume Up + Volume Down all at the same time. It will power down the device (it sometimes takes a while, so keep holding down the buttons for at least 10 seconds). Then Power + Volume Down to boot into recovery.

You have the stock recovery on your phone, not team win. You say you've done a factory reset in the recovery? Try that again first. If that doesn't work then flash the factory image.

You should explain how the problem happened. Was it by itself? Which Rom are you using?
You can flash a Rom or use this link they posted above http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701/post47156064 to flash Factory images doing method 1. Report back.

[Q] HTC One S stuck in 'Entering recovery'

I unlocked the bootloader of My HTC One S with instructions from htcdev.com later I flashed it with latest touch CWM img file. The device is booting normally but when i am trying to go into recovery mode, it stuck in there showing 'Entering Recovery'. I cleared cache several times, tried to flash with twrp but same situation. If I just erase cache, it is still showing the same screen, tried stock recovery image also, still no luck. Please help :crying:

Have you tried to flash TWRP instead? How exactly are you trying to go to recovery? From the ROM power menu or by shutting phone down and starting up having vol-down pressed? Have you tried both methods?

nexus 5 stucked on google screen and twrp startup failure

hi, this is my first time on xda and I'm sorry if I'm doing something wrong here. I'm using nexus 5 since last 3 years and I was thinking of rooting it cause there is no official update after 6.0.1. so, I unlocked the bootloader installed twrp recovery and when I tried opening the custom recovery for the first time ever and it opened with some loading screen for 3-4 seconds then turned off and got stuck on the google screen and after 2-3 seconds it starts again. I searched everywhere but there was nothing like my problem. Now I don't know what to do cause I can't even open the custom recovery to wipe the data.
can anyone help me out in this situation?
thanks

You flashed twrp using fast boot commands?
After flashing twrp, did you boot into twrp from the fast boot screen?
This is called a boot loop.

First off I'd like to know what did you do to unlock your bootloader? What version of TWRP did you use? Are you sure it was for the right device?
But what you're in is called a boot loop, which is the result of a error in the OS. If it's still doing this what I want you to do is wait until it is shut down then hold power + VOL Up + VOL Down and wait until it brings up the bootloader (if it does at all.) If you access that hit the VOL Down button twice to open recovery mode. If it tries to enter the TWRP custom recovery and you get that error again, I can't help ya. If it enters the stock recovery you're golden. Hit the VOL down button until you're on the wipe data/factory reset and hit the power button. This should clear out your phone. Hope this helps.
