Anyone know why the 2g 3g Google in tasker doesn't work with this phone? Just said not supported. Nexus 4 used to say that too, but started working at some time. Would a kernel fix this?

Hey guys, so I know a lot of people have been having problems with getting signal with the nexus 5 especially on rogers
What I found to help a little bit is if I change my network to 3g/2g
Sucks tho because I don't use LTE
Anyone else find solutions?

So frustrating. Rogers here to. It's not network related since it's happening in the US as well.

Anybody else having issues with LTE. On my phone it always wants to revert to H or H+ I have to cycle airplane mode to get LTE to come on pretty frequently. Anybody else seen issues with this?

that would be because in your area there is a better hspa+ connection than a lte connection. if you try forcing lte in that kind of situation, it could lower your battery life due to bad signal.
Ok, its just weird because my wife has the n5 too and she seems to be on LTE more than I am. And usually gets better speeds too. Maybe I will just take her place on the couch! By the way Simms do you EVER stop helping!?

Hi all,
I got my phone 5 days ago and since then, it looses signal about 6 times a day in places where there is full signal.
I used to own Galaxy S2 and never had this issue before.
I'm using the same carrier and living in the same place so the only thing that has changed is the phone.
I was wondering if it's a known issue, if there's a fix or should I RMA this?
Thanks!
Happened to me until the updates. Are you on 4.4 still?
Team Nexus 5 sucks
Nope, as soon as I got the phone it was on 4.4.1 and then upgraded to 4.4.2
Same thing is happening to me, and from what I've Google'd, heaps of others as well.
Hoping 4.4.3 (or whatever they will call the next one) will fix these issues. I switched to a new carrier, to get the Nexus 5 (I could've stayed with my old carrier and got it, but I was unhappy with them). There is so many issues with the Nexus 5 and my new carrier, its not even funny.
I hate it when my phone LOSES the signal.
It still happens to me once or twice a day. Turning on airplane mode for a few seconds fixes my signal.
Team Nexus 5 sucks
Happens to mine constantly. Pos.

Have you checked your APN's in the phone at all?

Yes. The APN is set automatically.

With what can I compare it to? The way I was able to recreate this is when switching to 2G from 4G or 3G

Compare your APNS to your network standard APNS. Simply Google that and you should be able to find it. I would Google it for you but I don't know your network.

The S5 seemed relatively unimpressive, however the download booster feature seems interesting where it uses lte and wifi for data. I was curious as to whether someone could port that over to the Nexus 5 or create their own implementation.
P0rn download b00ster. Moar plox google
Anyways I think it's hardware

I think it is implemented in software. There is a demo for using both LTE and WiFi on Galaxy S2 on YouTube already. (Search for "Energy-efficient multi-link video streaming on smartphones")
This would be REALLY nice feature to have. I actually might root for it!
Im pretty sure that it is software related, because I remember reading about an app for android that does this for you, but for the life of me can't remember the name of the app.

oh i am going to test
Any feedback? 4/5 stars on the Play Store from a N5 user.
Unfortunately I have no WiFi connection to test...
My LTE connection blows away my home Wi-Fi connection.... I don't see how I could benefit from a booster. I would think it would utilize bandwidth from my cellular data connection and not touch my Wi-Fi. Just another gimmick to pay twice as much as you need for a device imho.

Hi
need your help, I have tried everything..
I can not connect to 3G
I tried to flash image factory/set correct APN setting with the operator/switch radios/replacing new SIM.
didn't helped my!
When I connect to 2G everything works for me, calls and online.
When I switch to 3G, I have no service, it writes me Unavailable operator.
It get stuck on the "Search" when I try to search manually.
When I try to go back to 2G, it is still stuck on "searching.." and I have no reception! Only reboot fixes it and I can go back to work with 2G.
It is important to note that when I take out the SIM I can find operator on 3G.
How can I fix the problem or even understand what it comes from?
I have Nexus tool kit, maybe I can sent you Catlog \ bugreprot?!
Thank You in Advance
What about, when you are in LTE ? Will you get 3G ? You should get either 3G or Edge (came to know that your country don't have LTE yet).

I don't have LTE in my country yet, and my operator only have 2G (no EDGE)
If you choose LTE on your phone, it supports all lower versions (i.e 3G / Edge) ! So you must get Edge (2G) !
LTE option doesn't force only LTE !

I know, if I choose LTE I get the same problem, no service..
Which network do you use?

This. The Nexus 5 very well may not support the 3G frequencies your network uses.
Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
I certainly know that this is not the problem, Nexus 5 is supported in my country
Should not be a problem with the 3G frequencies of both models 820 \ 821.
If that's the case, I'd recommend contacting your carrier.
