Yup, used Vroot in the past. Whenever I used it I took special care... turned on my brain's paranoid mode( small tweaks, disconnected NET, unplugged my SIM card, etc).
Nowadays I'm able to root my phone manually so I don't have to rely on fishy Vroots and Kingos. Since I dumped Smasung and changed my preferences(Sony), I can also use Flashtool. ^ ^
Vroot works, it's just fishy. I mean, go and check their site. No company/contact info at all.
Kingo's even better, they collect your data( 100% guarantee!). x)
Speaking of which, the OP's topic choice- It's not the first thread about Kingo, Vroot and their fishy counterparts! If I'm not mistaken XDA used to block external links to Vroot. There was even a thread about Vroot. ^__^

Hi pan.droid <-- love your nick! :laugh::laugh::laugh:
You can "change" your hardware ID with some skills, sometimes even a stupid basic app does the job- but:
1. This thread's about Vroot :good:
2. changing/overwriting/altering/hiding your IMEI is illegal. Period. :crying:
*model citizen* I don't know, but I guess you can search the net....

Unlocking android cellphone

I heard that android phones is easy to simfree, something like, you only need internet connection for the process... You dont need the tools like some sort of specific hardware and software como like universal box, cyclone box... Any word about this?
Thanks.

Given that your only other post was about changing the IMEI on a non-smartphone (which is highly illegal in most places where there are mobile network providers) I would suggest that you tread very, very carefully
How easy it is to unlock an Android phone all depends on what phone it is. Some are code based, some use software, some use hardware such as the XTC-Clip. None of the above will enable you to change an IMEI though, so don't bother asking for that sort of help on here.

I think is Yes coz android is free opertion system and anyone can do anything coz simple
It's a lot simpler to pay for an unlock code... usually only a few bucks but some cost more (search on eBay or Google)

[Q] Info required

Hello,
Just wondering if I could get some info pls. We have just bought our son his first mobile (HTC sensation xe) which is on a plan.
He has downloaded some game apps (Simpsons, Minecraft etc) but says he needs to jailbreak his phone to get further access into them, to gain free things (donuts for simpsons game)
I guess my questions are:
What is Jailbreak ?
Is there a process to do this without possibly damaging the phone ?
Is it really necessary for this to be done ?
I have had a quick look through some of the forum pages and noticed that "rooting" the phone sounds like what he wants to do
My concerns are that if this type of thing is attempted, we may end up paying for an unusable phone for the next 24 months.
Any ifno on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

Jailbreak is a term which is normally used for apple devices to get the devices out of their "golden cage" which means to do things with it that were not intended by the manufacturer. And yes it's nearly the same like rooting on android devices.

Normally it doesn't damage the phone but it is always done at your own risk! (You may loose your warranty)

If he just wants to root in order to get paid things for free, you might want to give a lesson in "doing the right thing" instead of letting him go nuts from the instant gratification of stealing everything you want.

Hello readers, I am a cyber forensic developer and analyst.
While looking over automatic rooting softwares and websites I came across 2 programmes that installed smpt keyloggers to the system directory.
I am yet to analyse how it works [Will be updated when I do]

For rooting please refer to our xda friends and developers who has posted several rooting methods through odin and a root file along with a custom recovery.

I am yet to analyse those files.
I captured two outgoing files,
1. Keylog068.file
2. PhoneGal.file
keylog seems like a text file but it is encrypted.
I cannot link them to the rooting websites and softwares unless I am positive about the threat.
Please report the link or program used to root... Otherwise downloading programs outside of XDA come with malware pre-installed. Try using methods to root any tablet/phone from known sources specially rooting software found within XDA itself.

So others could help in decrypting, and/or check for malware.

First thanks for the allert. For this First step I give you 50% of an A. Why? Because you need to Post All Important Info. What you have done is useless.
It is not wrong to point out Possible or Unverified Threats to our security, since this is a mayor risk. It may compare to having some knowledge that a possible murder will be soon or in progress! You do not wait for the murder to happen just to say later that you where just concern!.
But what you have done worth nothing without the knowledge of the NAME of what program you are referring. Nobody else can confirm or denied without Program NAME. Clearly you are not sure. So in your statement, just clearly Express your Concerned. And Clearly say as you did that the info needs to be verified. Then ASK others to Verify your findings.
What you are doing will cause the opposite effect, . As Single accuser you will get back some comments.
Last, if it is a false alarm, you will see the owners of those APPs giving explanations !
Without mentioning the two rooting apps, this is an idiotic thread just spreads paranoia.
I was going to room my daughter's tab until I read this thread.
Which software should I be avoiding? If you suspect it, and can't prove it, why not just list it here so users like myself can avoid it and/or the developers can explain themselves.
Right now, am I to avoid all rooting software?
I vote this thread the most rediculous thread so far for 2014.
Go ahead and root guys. If there was an issue it would be all over the net by now. Don't listen to one tinfoiled hat guys tomfoolery.

You can root via custom recoveries and root files, its considered safe.
I will post an update today on my findings
I don't get why people would use software to root their device.
It's much more fun to do it yourself.

But i dont always have the time (ie patience) to do it all myself.
And lets be honest nowadays everything has to be easy, people dont want to think for themselves anymore.

[Root]I want to learn how to Root Smartphone without 3rd Party app?

Hello, everyone and the moderators!
I just joined.
I had happily used Android in Datawind Tablet for 6 months, two years back, when it developed a snag. I received a replacement. It had third-party apk download site of Datawind, not the Google's Playstore. I was displeased by this limiting option. So I returned back the device and got back my full payment.
I informed Google about this but Google said that since Android development is under Apache license, not GNU license, people could do as they pleased.
A few months back I was interested by the Whatsapp app. It can't run on Android-x86 on PCs. So I planned to buy a cheap smartphone to test it. I bought a Karbonn Titanium 3Dplex Lite.
Everything alright upto this! I was happily using Whatsapp, when my notice was brought upon a third party app called Tap-n-Buy. I could not uninstall it.
I have been an exclusive Debian Linux user for the last nine years. So I thought I could su and remove it.
But I found that not only su is not possible ordinarily in Android, but in the android-porting forums it appears to be a taboo word.
Very well! I researched and found the site techaddictted.wordpress.com/2016/06/01/9-apk-to-root-android-phones-without-pccomputer
I downloaded a few rooting apk files from their parent sites.
In the meanwhile I was helped by Androidcentral, link, androidcentral.com/root and digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-root-android, in the preliminary research. I was also helped by the android-x86 forum.
I continued to post a few queries in "android-x86 and ancroid-porting" but am not receiving any replies:
Topics:
(1) Customise Pre-installed Android in personal Smartphones?
(2) How to copy the entire Android OS installed on smartphone to PC running Linux?
(3) Why Rooting Android on Smartphones is a taboo subject?
(4) How to install Android ISO on Smartphone from Linux Systems?
The process being: downloading the installed OS from my Smartphone to my lap-/desk- top, su and remove problematic apps, and put it back on the smartphone.
But needless to say, one of my posts has been refused. The rest have yet not been approved for general viewing.
With my threads to android-porting I came to have an intuition about some issues:
(1) It appears that Android rooting is a taboo subject in Android google usergroups.
(2) There is no direct super user level in android to be root'ed but only 3rd party apps.
I downloaded some of the apk files from the links provided by techaddictted.wordpress.com/2016/06/01/9-apk-to-root-android-phones-without-pccomputer . I checked those apk files using online virus malware scanner and found all of them problematic.
I continued to search, and from MakeUseOf - Technology, Simplified, (i.e., makeuseof.com) I was led here.
Now my interest is very detailed:
Ultimately, I wish to download the Entire Installation on the Smartphone of the custom Android by my mobile developer, tweak the files, remove a couple of problematic apps and then reinstall the tweaked files back to the smartphone again.
I know that in Linux I could remove root password using booting from a different liveCD, use some tricks like chroot and then remove and log on as root with a new password.
As a Linux aware person I can understand that may be Android is trying to suppress information about rooting a device to keep the proprietary apps running. They have their limitations.
But on the contrary, Google Android itself warns me of the third party software, which is indicates as malicious. Here is the link: drive.google.com/open?id=10N1HtycG87_5LW59-1GGKI32b1ucN0bC
It was these Tap-n-Buy warnings that actually aroused my interest in rooting my device, to be a superuser and remove this software. Otherwise, this app doesn't appear to be removable.
Could I be helped?
We will take one baby step at a time. First know whether it is at all possible to be a superuser without a third-party Superuser app.
And continue from there to the next baby step.
Root on Android is a security exploit. It is not taboo here.
It might be that your device can't be rooted (not all can be) mainly if it's a no name cheap devices.
Yes you need third party apps as root on Android requires a kernel change.
As for pulling the OS off a device. You are out of luck on that. As the OS is packaged differently when it is zipped and then it is decompressed when flashed.
Your best bet would be to see if your bootloader can be unlocked. If it can then you will need to find the kernel source and build aosp for the device.
Thank you for responding to my queries

Oh no. Karbon is not what you think. They like Micromax use rebranded devices from China. Normally cool pads by Chinese name. (I have helped with many India based users with different oems) even helping getting kernel source release for the M1.
Root files will always trip anti virus programs. It's because in a way it is a virus. Root apps use security exploits to get root. Nothing to worry about as long as you are smart about it. Heck you can ask any developer here "what anti virus program they use" and the majority will say none. They are faker then a Chinese knock off. They have even been found to fake false reports on files for their competitors.
If your device has an unlocked bootloader then you can flash magisk which is the best root app.
If you come across an app that doesn't need to be flashed and is just an apk. Run the other way. Those use majority security exploits to get it done but most of them get patched in the monthly updates. So it doesn't always stay. They also tend to add malware to the device.
As for a step by step guide. I can only do what you can. That is to search xda to get the info I need.
I'll do what I can and see what I can find. No promises. Do some research yourself as well. It will help you learn the ins and outs and get you to know the lingo.
Mind you. You will still need an app to control root. Which is encludes with the magisk zip
I will try with your information
Thank you, Sir, for the additional information for my further research and experimentations.
I will try to find flash magisk zip and then use it.
BTW, I would seek this opportunity to request you to advise me about the best Smartphone that has everything accessible, from open bootloader to root permissions for my further experimentations.

All you really nead from the sdk is the adb files, so you can push commands to your device. There are a few basic adb packages. Here is a good tool. This will work for now to do what you want. If you ever decide to build roms for your devices from source then you will have to have the whole SDK.
While there are many sites one the internet XDA is the only one you will ever need for modding your device. Any question you may have as been asked at least a hundred times in these forums. Use the XDA search or the XDA search plug in for your browser to hel find the info you need.
Many devices have unlockable bootloaders. One Plus has the currant Dev support right now as they are good with 3rd party developers for the most part. Depending on the device unlocking the bootloader has back draws (sony with DRM keys and such) lessened security (no matter what any one tells you). Just see which devices XDA portal team is talking about. They are normally good dev devices. Like I think Honor is working with XDA to be as open as possible.
Thanks for replying again so soon!
Thank you once again.

I indeed did both full and advanced search in this very site for my OP thread title.
Needless to say, I didn't find any. I couldn't. I always ask incisive questions, otherwise, I don't.
Once in flow, I asked you about unlocking the bootloader. As I asked, I began my search as well
So Honor and One Plus? Could you please inform about the specific models? I will then talk to Amazon India for one of the two, and also about a completely open Smartphone, without locked bootloader, locked root, locked third-party app (I will do them myself, if required) with Android pre-installed, for experimentation.
Thanks a lot!
I will take some time to be familiar with xda, but I will eventually, if the quality that you vouch for is really there.
I admire all good things and am ready to pay more than money for them.

Yeah the site search can be a bit bad. Due to the size of it. You will get used to what key words you will need to use. The site has been here for almost 20 years now leading the way in mobile hacking and development. So there is a lot of info. But a lot of it is pre-android as well so don't be deterred.
I had a look at the devices available from Amazon India. Look in out forums at the device threads and compare them. The 5t is the only one I can say for 100% that it will do what you want.
Ah, great!
