wrong part of the board bud - should be in q&a - and in answer to your question - good luck with that one.
the files put out by our devs and chefs are clean - chainfires root files are clean - and im sure someone will link you to a trusted download for Odin.

Go ahead and root it without fear, they seems virus cause for the antiviruses they are malicious codes but the aren't, somehow..
Sent from the past...

Viruses for PC will NEVER affect a mobile device or even another PC running a different OS.
Please search "CF-Autoroot for S4" also please do sufficient research before rooting, how to do it properly and what are it's risks and consequence because viruses are not of the concern.
Anyways wrong thread .

CF-Auto-Root (already mentioned) is the easiest one. Once rooted you can use Mobile Odin (paid app) to install any (Odin compatible) ROM.

Motorola Defy Mini low internal storage space

Hello i recently bought a motorola defy mini 600mhz 512mb ram 150mb internal storage and a 16gb sd card.
I have a couple of apps and the internal storage is already full, this is my first android phone and i have heard of rooting but it hasnt been discovered for my phone.
Is it possible to set the sd card memory to be seen as internal memory?
And is it possible to install a new android version?
Thank you

same siatuacion here
What can we defy mini users do?
Only wait for the root method to be discovered?
Sent from my XT320 using XDA
i think so
Setting sd as internel memory is commonly referred to as "partitioning", where a part of the sd is used as internel mem...
However, for that, you require root access, and a kernel that supports init.d scripts...

How can i know when rooting becomes availible for the defy mini?
Sent from my XT320 using XDA
That is a difficult question to answer...
Does your device have a forum on xda? (Check in the legacy and low activity sub-forum)
If it has, things get a little easier since people can then come together and experiment with different methods...
I'm guessing it does not, so the next thing left is trial and error...
If you are willing to risk your warranty and a possible bricked device, you can try a few of the popular gb methods (I'm assuming your phone is on gb), like gingerbreak, superoneclick, or unviersal root tool etc...
HOWEVER, do this at your own risk, as you cannot hold anyone else responsible for any damages...
Also, from what I've heard, motorola phones usually have a locked bootloader...and unfortunately, I have no experience with such devices (as mine does not have a locked bootloader)...messing around with the bootloaders increases chances of bricking...
Sent from my GT S5670 using xda free, (coz the premium keeps force closing :banghead: )
I doubt if SuperOneClick does the job. Rooting your phone is easy as 123 with that tool, but on some phones it turns out to nothing. I guess they already tried it.
It didn't work on my poor Mini...
It would be the best if you wait for an official method.
Sent from my GT-S5570 using XDA
Yeah i have already used it but it didnt work.
I hope the official method comes out soon because its quite long since the release of the phone.
Sent from my XT320 using XDA
Official method?
A phone gets root as people try to root it...there's nothing that the manufacturer does!
Its all trial and error...or some people study the source and find out ways to root!
Sent from my GT S5670 using xda free, (coz the premium keeps force closing :banghead: )
Oh well by official method i was refering to a real coder or developer would find a way to root it.

I will try that method out and if it works or not I will report back.

So.. did someone managed to finally root the Defy Mini? How can a phone this cheap be so hard to root?
The processor in this phone can run from 600 to 800Mhz (as Qualcomm says), but it is blocked to 600 on the official room. This cpu should run fine at 900-1000Mhz. Also we would get even better performance if we manage to put a stock android on it and get rid of Motorola bloatware.
Din pacate inca nimica.
Unfortunatly nothing yet.
hey i dont know whether this works or not but i found a flashable zip to root....
www . mediafire . com/?6a863tfqb9pc2d9(note der r some space in links bcoz my links are not visible without space...so remove spaces in link and go to link)
flash this file in recovery and see whether this file roots motorola defy mini or not....
pls reply what happens...
i am just helping you all to get your phone rooted pls dont insult me if it doesnt root

What is an OMAP4430 Driver and what are its functions?

I was nervous to post this but then again, better to at least ask and to know than to let fear keep me in the dark (so to speak). So, the thing is this. i am trying to root my samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 wifi only which is 4.1.1 (GT-P3113) UECLK7 but i stumbled on a problem. Yes, huge thanks to Mr. Chainfire for giving us CF-Auto_Root, but when i put my tab in download mode, there was no blue status bar showing any progress, but it ended up saying
1. that i dont have OMAP4430 Driver installed and
2. that i dont have samsung usb driver installed.
i dont understand why and was wondering if anyone could please tell me how to fix this? and where can i find this OMAP4430 driver and samsung usb driver too? ive searced through google so much looking for this OMAP4430 driver till my eyes started burning. i really would appreciate the help. sincerely.

Install Samsung Kies, which will install the drivers for you. Then you can uninstall Kies unless you think you'll use it.
Sorry if i seem a bit curious but what was it after all, because you didn't cleared that up and what was it that it dose in the Android OS?! I ask this because i recently switched to Android 4.1 on tablet. Also why do you need to root a Samsung Tab? I know they have enough internal memory and if not an SD card will solve it.

Except if you want to use the external for apps one would need to be rooted. It is also good for using bloatware blockers and many other apps which require root access. It gives one more control over his/her device. Which is most of the fun of having an android device, IMO.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
True, on a rooted device you can install non-market apps and if you have enough knowledge in Android modding and courage you can put more customized ROM-s.
The drawback : loose the client warantee from the producer.

How do I root a Galaxy S3 "clone"?

So I bought this "clone": http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/235072448.html
It seems to work OK but I have problems to get the GPS going, it does never find any signal. I can walk around the city for hours and get nothing.
I think I need to set the GPS-time or whatever it's called but I need root for it.
How can I possibly root this phone? It isn't a real Galaxy S3, it doesnät have the exact same hardware and probably not the exact same OS either.
Anyone know?
Try some "one click root " tools.
Because, root, after all, is manage to install su binary into system

Rom development.

Hi guys, great forum btw.
I have an ainol novo8 discover, (a supposed quadcore ipad mini alternative)
I really need a new rom for this device as the stock firmware is terrible. However search as I mite I can find nothing.
The device is rooted and using es file explorer I tried to remove the bloatwarw, to no avail, uninstall unsuccessful is what im greeted by.
My first question is how do I uninstall these apps? I have dissabled them through settings-apps but I want them gone completely.
My second question is where do I start when working on a new rom for a device? Please note that ainol have yet to release the source code for the ainol discover.
Anyway guys thank you all for your time and patience, and please be aware im a newbie to all this so please do try to simplify your answers.

You have to give some time for people to reply lol, check out Rom Toolbox, you can uninstall everything is you want.
in the upper right is a box "Type to find your device" put your device in there and it will take you to your phone, from there you can access the info you are looking for.
Fair point, sorry.
Just very frustrating device.
Ainol havent released there firmware yet anyway so I guess theres no way of creating a rom without it.
Thankyou btw for mentioning rom toolbox, with that es file manager and a factory data reset I managed to get rid of all of the bloatware (that I know of ) off the device.

Root for mk2 update

Root is achievable on the new mk2 ota update using the notoriously called "questionable" VROOT. **edit** its questionable because the website is in chinese, not a reputable developer so use at your own risk. That being said I did a full factory restore before doing this No personal info stored and immediately deleted their bootleg Super su app. Reguardless the instructions are pretty straightforward and easy for even a newbie to do with the explanation given. Just google "vroot xda" and you will find threads they don't mention att galaxy s4 but believe me it works I have stock 4.3 with root right now with titanium backup installed and crapware frozen.
I know some people already know this im making a thread on this for ppl that dont know yet and have beem searching like I have before I found it. Any questions feel free to ask as we are here to help each other against applesung I mean samsung

Connected the phone, hit the green button and a small message popped up above the green button. I used the Google Translate app to find out what it said and it read "Device Not Recognized".
Yes, USB debugging is enabled (verified in Dev Options).
Yes, I reboot my phone multiple times.
I used Kingo root on mine and it worked as well.

The concern over this root method is not because the website is in Chinese...
Please research this method before doing anything that potentially puts your private data and IMEI number at risk.

From what I've seen, there hasn't been much way in reversing vroot/kingo to a viable known safe method; am I wrong? Is there development being done on a new root still?
Who knows with all these new phones coming out all the time... we can just use the known methods that work even if they werent meant for the devices we have

I believe the problem with vroot was it opens your phone up to a Chinese server and most antivirus applications deemed it as malware.

Its not samsung...its any ATT phone now...ATT stated a while go they will no longer be supporting phones with unlocked bootloaders...in other words every phone from ATT will likely have a locked bootloader :/
And to the op...from my understanding the fact that its in chinese wasnt what was in question...it was the fact that it connects to a chinese server, and since its rooting they can obtain any data off your phone with out you knowing...could be stored credit cards, photos, contacts, imei...or nothing at all, but there is the possibility

Of course there is no danger in someone taking your IMEI, cloning your phone and using your service on your dime... or grabbing your bank account info because you use a banking app, or buying stuff on Amazon or eBay with your account, etc.
I cannot emphasize enough that anyone thinking about this method of rooting their phone do some research first.
