How do I root a Galaxy S3 "clone"? - General Questions and Answers

So I bought this "clone": http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/235072448.html
It seems to work OK but I have problems to get the GPS going, it does never find any signal. I can walk around the city for hours and get nothing.
I think I need to set the GPS-time or whatever it's called but I need root for it.
How can I possibly root this phone? It isn't a real Galaxy S3, it doesnät have the exact same hardware and probably not the exact same OS either.
Anyone know?

Try some "one click root " tools.
Because, root, after all, is manage to install su binary into system

Why did you buy a clone?

You will never be able to root it, XDA don't deal with clones, flash anything from here you will brick.

And also Z4root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
And Also Super one click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Now on every android device what ever it was it Must have a boot loadre
So power off your device and hold down volume down then power button
if not volume up and power button and if you were lucky it will be in English or you can see a chinese translator
I ve been able to access my friends tablet boot loader but it was Chinese in the boot loader there might be things to help
Any way the program up there in the link it is universal so it should root your device

Don't say z4root won't work, it never works unless you're on eclair. I'm saying you can't make a post simply stating something doesn't install on this forum, you gotta at least say "when I try to install it says 'application not installed'" or the like.
Like I said before, you shouldn't expect it to work anyways, so why make a post saying it won't work? Don't tell me how was I supposed to know that, because googling z4root will yield you some results from 2 or 3 years ago.
I also suggested you try unlock root and superoneclick, because the poster before you said to try superoneclick as well and my translation of your post was that you chose to ignore that suggestion.

then i moved on
it was hard as hell
and some times i get errors and stay hourse on google trying to figure out how to fix them
so then i started my channel to let the people know what i know
some day i flashed a kernal for cdma on a gsm phone
phone won,t boot and i kep trying and trying but i finaly i found and created a video about how to fix it(how to flash boot img)
And finaly guys i knew that easy ways are bad

Toss it my way. Correct none of the unlock apps will work for the I727, I've tried many. Your IMEI is still in the database, It is just AT&T not wanting to give it to you. Your best bet would be to use one of the MANY online sources. There are several that offer unlocking for under $10.00 others that offer for around $30.oo ish. Find one in your budget that will work for your time constraints and go with them.
As far as busy box, you have a few options from the market that will quickly and easily install it for you.

[Q] Which rom is better for Galaxy Mini 2

Well... I know this question will be answered in this web, but I canot find it...It's true.. sorry...
I have been looking for a good rom for Galaxy Mini S2, but I don't find anything. I know it is not a great mobile, but when I bought it, first-hand, new, without install anything else but whatsapp..... My mobile goes horrible. I tried a hard reset, and I got the same. So, I think the solution is a rom. But which one?
I'm thinking in CM10 but I don't find my mobile between supported devices... What do you suggest me?
Thank you!!!
Comparing ROMs is not allowed here in xda... sorry bro!

Really??? I don`t understand why. I just wanna know which rom is "supported" for my mobile. I see CM doesn`t. But another one?
I can't also find in this forum a rom list which I can read to choose the best for me.
Thanks.
first.. the solution to your problem is NOT THE ROM! its not a thing to play wid... remember there is a risk that u might end up with an unusable phone is the flashing fails... Try a clean data/cache/dalvik cache via cwm and then give it a try... if u are still under warranty then dont hesitate in going to authorised service centre... i would also suggest u to FREEZE all unwanted apps... ONLY APPS! not SYSTEM SERVICES!

Root for mk2 update

Root is achievable on the new mk2 ota update using the notoriously called "questionable" VROOT. **edit** its questionable because the website is in chinese, not a reputable developer so use at your own risk. That being said I did a full factory restore before doing this No personal info stored and immediately deleted their bootleg Super su app. Reguardless the instructions are pretty straightforward and easy for even a newbie to do with the explanation given. Just google "vroot xda" and you will find threads they don't mention att galaxy s4 but believe me it works I have stock 4.3 with root right now with titanium backup installed and crapware frozen.
I know some people already know this im making a thread on this for ppl that dont know yet and have beem searching like I have before I found it. Any questions feel free to ask as we are here to help each other against applesung I mean samsung

The concern over this root method is not because the website is in Chinese...
Please research this method before doing anything that potentially puts your private data and IMEI number at risk.

From what I've seen, there hasn't been much way in reversing vroot/kingo to a viable known safe method; am I wrong? Is there development being done on a new root still?
Who knows with all these new phones coming out all the time... we can just use the known methods that work even if they werent meant for the devices we have

I believe the problem with vroot was it opens your phone up to a Chinese server and most antivirus applications deemed it as malware.

Its not samsung...its any ATT phone now...ATT stated a while go they will no longer be supporting phones with unlocked bootloaders...in other words every phone from ATT will likely have a locked bootloader :/
And to the op...from my understanding the fact that its in chinese wasnt what was in question...it was the fact that it connects to a chinese server, and since its rooting they can obtain any data off your phone with out you knowing...could be stored credit cards, photos, contacts, imei...or nothing at all, but there is the possibility

Of course there is no danger in someone taking your IMEI, cloning your phone and using your service on your dime... or grabbing your bank account info because you use a banking app, or buying stuff on Amazon or eBay with your account, etc.
I cannot emphasize enough that anyone thinking about this method of rooting their phone do some research first.

Except the goverenment already has just about all your info...as others have stated...the people who made this root option have the ability to obtain any info from your phone, and have the ability to use it with a malicious intent...
But your right, you want root you take the risk...as for me ill wait for a confirmed safe method of rooting, so i dont have to take that risk

Root?

Should I root my nexus 5?
Why do you want to root it? That's the first question you should ask.

If you need some motivations to root, here are some good things to read about
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677350
if you have to ask if you should root your nexus 5, then you probably dont need root. if you needed root, you would never ask if you should root.
To root or not to root, that is the question.
But seriously, if you need to ask if you should root or not, you probably don't need it.
I root for many reasons, chiefly among them, for AdAway.
Bla bla, hurts developers, bla bla. I have purchased every single app on my phone that has a paid version. I purchase those donate keys even when there is no ad-based reason to do so. If the app has an IAP-remove-ads option, I will take it.
I'll be honest, I don't even feel bad about ad blocking apps that don't give me an avenue to remove ads. Give me a legit way out, and I will take it every single time. But if you force ads on me and give me no way to remove them? Blocked.
Or websites. Maybe if the ads weren't so obnoxious, I wouldn't feel a need to block them.
Of course, u should root if u use android phone. Root help user control the device better.

Not when you don't know what you're doing. You might ruin the device.

Read the first 4 threads in the General section first before you do anything :good:
What do you plan on doing with your phone? If you aren't in to modifying your phone and find that apps that don't require root do everything you need, then don't mess with it.

Rooting is easy, but when you fiddle around with system partition and NOT KNOW what you're doing, that's a problem. Thats why I said if you need root, you probably won't be asking this question. If you need to ask if you need root, you don't .
Might also be worth checking if some apps you use don't work when rooted. This is why I don't bother any more as some live TV apps I use can detect root and not function (Sky Go being the main culprit)
if it is not rooted, it is not a nexus for me
Worth it for Xposed Framework. But read before you root!
