so i checked my bank account and the money that was spent for the nexus 5 was returned to my bank account?? what could be going on, it still says pending on the google page for my order.
Google put a pending transaction on the account to check funds are available and I believe it only lasts a couple of days before being removed.

Yep Google pre auth your card to ensure its a working card they ONLY debit your account once the phone is shipped. As such the money for the phone will sit on your account as an auth amount taking it off your available balance. When Google don't collect the money it becomes avail again. Once the phone ships they will debit your account again for the full amount again and collect the funds this is it will show on your account as a transaction you can see.

I'm afraid that you have been determined to be unfit to acquire the nexus 5. Better luck next time.

From a technical standpoint it's illegal in many states in the US to fully charge a customer for an item that has not shipped direct to them (meaning it's no longer in the possession of the retail seller). Not every company obeys that law as they should hence the concept of a pre-order payment status in some situations. Pretty sure that Google does the pre-authorization hold for the price of the devices they sell to ensure the money "is there" at least when the order is put in place so they aren't just holding a device for you - you might not actually be able to pay for it at that time, and if another customer is then why screw the other customer out of the potential purchase, for the most part.
See how that works?

I had no problem with them when I pre-ordered my Evo 4G, picked it up on launch day with no fuss. I'm not a fan of BB in general, but the instant rebate and the early pre-order date won me over the first time. Why not again? Plus, if they're still offering the $50 trade-in credit for my Evo 4G, that's a lot of reasons to walk through their doors.
Doent this concern the LTE version of the phone?
So it is the One-xl
Different forum for that.
So moving now
I'm going to move this thread as its not concerned with the HTC One XL. If the admins choose a combined solution, then we can move these back here at a later date. There are enough hardware and software differences that I believe this phone will have its own fora.

I like to order from bestbuy mobile because their insurance, although $2 more then Sprint, theres no copay if u ef up the phone. $100 copay through sprints insurion service. Also they have the buyback program which 22months from now, you sell it back and have enough for the next upgrade.Plus I get the upgrade through my number, they switch to my number right away. SPRINT makes u wait 30 days.
Exactly.

I went to the link and it says to submit your email to be notified when it's available. So am I missing something? Cause if I can pre order today in store I may end up doing that. But sprint's site does say pre order and get it before others get a glimpse.
So a month ago I ordered a nexus 4 8gb. The next day my friend decided he wanted to sell he's nexus 4 8gb. He said he will sell it to me for 300$ instead of 372$ from the play store. Of course I bought it. I wanted to cancel my order so went on my Google wallet account to cancel it. Surprise it doesn't work. Take note that the phone hasn't shipped yet. I call them and I explain to them that I will like to cancel my order. The lady tells me that my order has been processed and she can't cancel. She than tells me I have to wait until it comes and wen
UPS arrives at my door to return it to the sender. I asked if this was a joke. I never in my life heard of that. If an item hasn't shipped yet isn't it easier to stop it before it leaves ? I didn't make a big story and did what she said. I was charged the 372$. Tracked with UPS and when it was near my house, called UPS and said that I refuse the order and that they may send it back to the sender. Perfect they sent it back. And it arrived back to them the Friday, *02/15/2013 at*9:30. I emailed them to know when they will refund me.
They said : If your package is unopened, Google will issue a refund to the card originally charged within 2 weeks.
I'm OK with that no problem.
2 weeks pass. I call them starting to get annoyed.
Now they changed the 2 weeks to 14 businesses days :banghead:
But in the first email they sent they clearly said 2 weeks if package was unopened.
"Thank you for contacting Google Play Hardware Support.
I understand your concern and frustration with the refund for the returned Nexus 4 device.
If your package is unopened, Google will issue a refund to the card originally charged for the order within 2 weeks.
If your package was opened, your returned device must first be inspected before determining the validity of the refund request. Results of the inspection will generally be available within 14 business days after your device is returned."
I remind you that my nexus 4 didn't even make it to my door. Emailed them and got the same message pasted again. Called them and wanted to talk to a supervisor. They said that 14 working days is their policies blabla and that they can't do anything for me.
I was really annoyed and decided to wait the 14 work days. Which was last Friday. I was supposed to get my refund, or at least it should appear on my Google wallet account, but again nothing.
Emailed them back and this is what they sent me back :
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Google. I've forwarded your case to a specialist to check on the status of your return. I do apologize for all of the hassle and I would definitely be frustrated were I in this situation, but rest assured I am going to do all I can to resolve the situation quickly for you.
In the meantime, if you come across any other information that you'd like to pass along, please feel free to reply to this email. Your responses will automatically go to the specialist working on your case.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
My regards,
Erin*
Google Play Support.
10 minutes later I got a new email :
Hello,
If your package is unopened, Google will issue a refund to the card originally charged for the order within 3-5*Business.
If your package was opened, your returned device must first be inspected before determining the validity of the refund request. Results of the inspection will generally be available within 14 business days after your device is returned.
If your refund has already been processed by Google, it may take a few business days for your account to reflect this. Please contact your bank directly if you would like additional details on receiving the funds from a processed refund.
You can always check to see if a refund has been processed by visiting https://wallet.google.com/
My regards,

I just love how they do such things. But even worse, they say that generally in 14 business days results of the device inspection will be avaliable. Makes you think about what is there really to inspect lol
I have the emails from tech support.
First one says 3-5 business days if unopened and 2 weeks if opened. Than the second one says 14 business day. Its been 26 working/business days and not a sign of refund. That's pretty bad from a company as big as Google.

I understand your frustration, but you couldn't possibly have anything to truly be worried about here economically/legally right?
Here in Norway at least, if the situation isn't resolved for the customer, the Consumer Advisory (translated as best I can) would tear the company apart with friggin chainsaws.
Written statements by employees, not having even accepted the package, and so on, pretty clear case IMO.

I worked for a well known action camera company in the customer service dept before moving on to better things and this all sounds very familiar. That was our standard procedure for returns as well, so it is possible that it is something to do do with either UPS or the system they're using - I remember it was actually for service reps to cancel if the order had been processed, even if we escalated it. The 14 business days sounds about right too, although the support rep should cop a little flak there for not saying that instead of 2 weeks and not mentioning the possibility of delays.
I also remember moving to a new returns service (automated too funnily enough), which caused ridiculous delays - packages getting lost, getting sent to the wrong department, you name it.
Bear in mind that the rep is just as frustrated as you at this point - in scenarios like this we would constantly check up on the status and ask the manager to escalate it to shipping/accounts but our hands are tied.
Mention the possibility of legal action if you want, but you'll likely get pointed towards the T&Cs absolving the company of any fault.
I'm pretty confident I could name and shame the companies providing these services but sadly that'd breach the NDA I signed.
Good luck man.
I have been shouting that google is cheating u people and mods kept on deleting my thread. They had supply issue to they booked the order and now after 3 months when much better devices are in the market they are forcing users to buy them.
They even charged much for the old socs. When arms new designs were 1 month ahead.

Hi guys. This is not specific to the z3 i guess but just wanted to ask here as i can't ask Vodafone. Let me explain why. Basically Vodafone have somehow mistakenly added credit to my phone to the amount of €300. No idea why or how this happened but it's been over 24 hours and it's still on the phone so it appears to be legit. However, iam already receiving free texts and calls so i can't use the credit lol it also can't be used in the Google play store which is a shame. Does anyone know if it's possible to use phone credit to make purchases online? If possible then root access would be required i imagine?
If Vodafone have added it as a credit then it will go on to your bill, basically you'll get like 10 months free assuming your line rental is €30 a month.

Well what can I say, a complete farce from start to finish.
From pre ordering to the numerous phone calls and emails to cancel my order and then to try and return my phone for a full refund.
In the end I had to get the police, Santander bank and trading standards involved to get my money back.
I had to wait 3 weeks for my order to ship to me in which time they wouldn't cancel my order even though the phone wasn't built or shipped.
They then said they would send out a pre paid label for me to return the phone, 6 times I had to request this and they never sent the labels while the 14 day returns time scale ran out due to this! I rang DHL and they told me no request was ever made for a returns label!
This left me with no option but to contact the police ,my bank and trading standards, all of whom were brilliant and helped me out :good:, my bank did a charge bank and refunded me my money back. All emails that I sent and received was shown to the above and once Motorola found out I had contacted the above they refused to respond to me anymore
I now have a brand new and sealed moto x style sat on my shelf , I have my money back and I have done all I can to return the phone, I don't know what to do with the phone now?
This was my 1st experience with Motorola, I have read similar experiences , and no doubt that there are lots of happy customers. How can they treat customers like this.
Motorolas loss was Nexus 6p gain
Interesting, I got my return label in about an hour because I requested it online. No phone call was needed. I didn't send my phone back but I could. From what I have read that is the way to do this, go online, submit a return within a few hours you will have an email with the label, end of the issue. I think you will eventually have to send it back or more legal issues may occur.
Seems to me that the phone support is poor so just don't go through them
I wasn't aware you could request online, but I had numerous emails and phone calls asking for a returns label that should have been noted.
Yes i have the kept the phone in safe keeping until they ask for it back!
Did you check your junk mail folder? After 6 requests I feel like they would have sent at least one label.

Have you considered giving the device another shot since you now have it? You'd have to send the money back again, but you wouldn't have to wait on shipping.
What made you not want the phone in the first place? Delays in shipping?

If it were me, I'd leave it sealed for 90 days at least. If at that point there is no dispute to the charge back from the bank, no contact from Motorola, etc, you should be safe to say you have a free phone. Keep in mind, just because you got your money back doesn't mean Motorola isn't disputing it on their end. And the bank could at any moment take that money back. If it comes to that, you could need to provide a sealed box device. If you can't, you could be out of luck.
Right now you have a free phone. If you sit on it for a few months, and nothing more comes of it, you still have a free phone.

You know, reading this post just made me decide to go ahead and unlock my device (that I've had for a week) for rooting/moding. I was on the fence because if I unlocked it I would have lost my warranty. But knowing I will never have to deal with Moto Customer Service is a good thing. I won't wanna lose my phone for weeks if something goes wrong anyway, so I'll be better with my local repair shop.
My previous phone, Galaxy S4, developed the dreaded swollen battery. And they wanted me to send it back for a replacement, instead of just sending me a battery. So that makes me not want to deal with customer service at all.
Sorry to hear about your experience. though.

Motorola contracts FedEx for the return. Not DHL. You went the wrong route.
Also, make sure your Motorola account has the correct email address. I used Google Plus login when I created the Motorola account and it showed some weird email address when I check my Motorola profile. I had to go in there and updated to the correct email address.
You will want to send the phone back. Contact any FedEx retail location, give them your address and they may have your label on file. If you decide to keep the phone, Motorola might bill you for it. If you don't pay, they will send you to collection. Good luck.
