I just updated to the newest YouTube app and the video quality is just awful. I've selected the HD video option in app settings, selected HQ in video settings, but its the same.
Is there some trick to play HD video?
Also, my internet connection is not the cause of this, because I can play 1080p videos on my PC without a problem.

I've had problems with streaming HD video on the youtube app before, I just found it was the wifi, as in distance from the router. I could be totally wrong but it worked for me, you might also want to try playing them through the browser not the app, that also seemed to make them stream faster, good luck.

Ok, I don't know if it is just me but when I upload videos I make on my Xoom to Youtube using the Youtube app they become choppy and out of sync. The videos play fine on my Xoom, they just upload wrong. Is this just me or have others experienced this?
Hey I just tested this with a video shot on my Evo 4G (cyanogen 7), and then edited on my Xoom, then uploaded to youtube using my Xoom. The video plays fine both on my Xoom locally and from YouTube. Also plays fine from the you tube website using flash.

It takes a while for a video uploaded to YouTube to be fully transcoded into every resolution available, and during the process, if you try to view the video it will often stutter and desync at some resolutions.
At least, that's my experience.
Try going back and looking at your video after a few hours.
I watch a lot of videos on my phone, from YouTube, hbo go, netflix, megaviewer pro. But mostly full length films. I want to get the most out of my display but I keep screwing around and nothing is working.
I thought it was mentioned somewhere when advertising the inspire that it could play back 720p video. I broke blu ray copy of avatar down to a 720p mp4 file and while stills looked amazing, it just wouldn't play without getting jarbled up. There are a ton of settings, resolution, bitrate, buffer, etc.
What is the best possible quality video in all aspects that I can play on my stock player, but more likely vplayer. I goose vplayer because it has the most userchangeable settings. File size is not a problem as long as its under 5gb
Tried lots of containers and settings and everything either looks decent or harbors. I want awesome.
I use moboplayer free from the market & I can stream 720p mkv video from my network over wifi with no problems, plus it has settings for software or hardware decoding

Hello
First of all sorry for my english, im not good at it.
I want to buy new TF101 3g for my wife in a few days since Prime is dissapoint (i need GPS functionality and strong wifi signal/3g )
She will mainly use it for web browsing, office documents and youtube watching.
How is OG transformer doing with youtube playback ? Does it have problems with HD videos at yt ? Does it shutters/slows ? Its very important for me.
I searched information for the past few days but couldnt find any actual useful info about yt playback.
Thanks for any answers.
no lag in HD playback
lag is only in Full HD (1080p) which is no problem in youtube videos (youtube will load 720p movies)
I've been using recently the TF for watching a lot of videos in YouTube and I haven't found any problem while viewing.
I've set it to get the HD version on full screen and WiFi and while on it, it just goes pretty smooth.
For the use your wife is gonna give it, its a really nice piece and it will surelly perform well.
you are using the youtube app right?
cause it's a very different experience with youtube vids between the app and browsing youtube on the web.
the app streaming is great but i noticed it wont show on searches all videos that you can have on the web browser.
It happens to all youtube mobile client (iOS/Android). It takes time for them to convert the video. Blame it on Apple and their flash BS excuse. At least on Android, we can just go to the youtube mobile website.
I have noticed that everytime I play hd videos online, the video player controls won't go away and just keeps on going on and off. I do have other video players other than the stock one, and I have no problem playing videos using the youtube app, or the stock browser. Playing videos offline is also not an issue, as this problem only occurs when I use other browsers like dolphin, and skyfire. Just to be clear, I am talking about just about any hd, or hq videos online from any site. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a way for me to play said videos using another player? thanks.
P.S I am running on stock ROM.
If the videos are on either PutLocker or Nowvideo, you can use this. It plays the file in your favorite video player.
Hi, I've recently purchased an Android TV box (the M8s with the s812 chip running Android version 4.4.2)
I have it connected to my TV and it's outputting at [email protected] and plays full 1080p videos from other sources just fine.
Things I've tried before asking for help:
I have deleted the original youtube app, re installed it, cleared it's data etc many times,
installed the YourTube Xposed module which hasn't had any effect and yes, it's fully active.
Current version of youtube: 10.40.58
So far, nothing I've tried has managed to even get me 480p never mind 1080p videos.
Its really doing my head in and any input / suggestions will be most welcome.
Kind regards,
Chiller.
Videos on youtube are of may quality
And videos often do not have hd options.
They will have max of 360 or 480p.
So try run any video which you know on youtube have an hd quality option

I am very aware of different quality videos.
The video I am attempting to play is this
https://youtu.be/wTcNtgA6gHs
Which can be played right up to 4k quality.
