[Q] Before buying - Youtube playback - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
First of all sorry for my english, im not good at it.
I want to buy new TF101 3g for my wife in a few days since Prime is dissapoint (i need GPS functionality and strong wifi signal/3g )
She will mainly use it for web browsing, office documents and youtube watching.
How is OG transformer doing with youtube playback ? Does it have problems with HD videos at yt ? Does it shutters/slows ? Its very important for me.
I searched information for the past few days but couldnt find any actual useful info about yt playback.
Thanks for any answers.

no lag in HD playback
lag is only in Full HD (1080p) which is no problem in youtube videos (youtube will load 720p movies)

I've been using recently the TF for watching a lot of videos in YouTube and I haven't found any problem while viewing.
I've set it to get the HD version on full screen and WiFi and while on it, it just goes pretty smooth.
For the use your wife is gonna give it, its a really nice piece and it will surelly perform well.

you are using the youtube app right?
cause it's a very different experience with youtube vids between the app and browsing youtube on the web.
the app streaming is great but i noticed it wont show on searches all videos that you can have on the web browser.

It happens to all youtube mobile client (iOS/Android). It takes time for them to convert the video. Blame it on Apple and their flash BS excuse. At least on Android, we can just go to the youtube mobile website.

Any Application for watching Youtube in High Quality

My Dear Friends
I am using HTC Touch HD running Windows Mobile 6.1 and stock ROM. I have the latest Youtube player installed to watch youtube through my wi-fi connection. However I don't like the Youtube video quality as it is a bit pixelated even on my wifi and there is no way to change it to high quality from the Youtube player. I have latest version of Skyfire too but even there I dont like the Youtube quality. Compared to this my Ipod Touch 3G plays high quality youtube on my wifi.
Is there any application which allows me to watch streaming youtube videos in high quality just like on Ipod Touch. I have searched the internet over the last couple of days but couldn't find a suitable application.
I shall be highly thankful and obliged if someone can guide towards such application for playing streaming High Quality Youtube videos

Uploads videos to Youtube Choppy

Ok, I don't know if it is just me but when I upload videos I make on my Xoom to Youtube using the Youtube app they become choppy and out of sync. The videos play fine on my Xoom, they just upload wrong. Is this just me or have others experienced this?
Hey I just tested this with a video shot on my Evo 4G (cyanogen 7), and then edited on my Xoom, then uploaded to youtube using my Xoom. The video plays fine both on my Xoom locally and from YouTube. Also plays fine from the you tube website using flash.

It takes a while for a video uploaded to YouTube to be fully transcoded into every resolution available, and during the process, if you try to view the video it will often stutter and desync at some resolutions.
At least, that's my experience.
Try going back and looking at your video after a few hours.

Flash streaming video is pixelated, is yours?

When watching streaming videos from websites is it pixelated on your device? I'm watching anime and dramas on sites and they are blockish looking. It did this on my pc back in the day with older divx/flash plugins as well.
(This isn't the case for sites like Youtube, etc. It is mainly on the anime sites).
It's because the resoluton of the video you are streaming is not high enough.
then the problem are with the videos you're watching. they must just be low-quality.
also, some sites stream lower quality videos depending on your connection speed, that can another thing to consider.
It's not those kind of squares that result from low quality vids.
The vids look fine on my desktop running at higher res.
These are little tiny squares.
try posting a screenshot.
The TF is terrible in playing flash videos via browsers. Check the videos on this site, for instance:

I also cannot play any flash video on the espn3 site on the TF. On my other computers, all these videos play smoothly. Even on my Gingerbread Nook Color and on the 2.2 HTC Thunderbolt, they play smoothly.
Apparently the Xoom or the Galaxy Tab has no trouble playing flash. So something's wrong with the Asus implementation.

I watched a vid on that site on my TF and my laptop..
Those videos are low quality and the TF looked better than my laptop..(it was smaller)
I've streamed videos from youtube and vimeo and they look great. it all depends on what's going in...to determine what's going out.
yes I found it pixelated too. tried dolphin HD and the video quality is worst than playing it on stock browser. I downloaded the video file (using firefox plugin), the quality is much better played on stock video player. so I presume the flash player used by the browsers are set to certain quality.
Has anyone tried Ustream? I want to use Ustream but no joy,is there a fix for this?

What's the problem with Ustream ? It's working fine here.
I get pixelation when viewing ad videos on websites. Doesn't bother me at all.

The Tegra2 does seem to do less deblocking that you might get on a system with more spare CPU power. Nothing to do with "pixelation" though.

[Q] Extremely poor Flash / Youtube performance!

Hey fellas,
the performance when watching Youtube clips is nothing but horrible...
Even when watching in 480p, videos are very choppy! 720p or even 1080p Videos are unwatchable!
I updated the flash player, deinstalled it, installed update again and so on, but nothing worked out...
So far I'm really enjoying my phone. Everything is nice, even battery is great with constantly +4hrs of screentime...
Does anyone have the same problems with flash / youtube playback?
Btw, I'm on 1.53.401.2 software version
same problem for me too, I watch a lot of movies over the internet (using flash player) and the quality is very disappointing. As far as I can see, if you are using HTML 5 embedded player (in stock browser) the movies are working flawlessly.
Blame adobe. They seem to be phasing out flash on mobile devices. Very disappointing.

How do you switch to html 5? Maybe i should update my phone with an OTA update, but ppl seem to have issues regarding battery life with the newest update
Well the feature that allows you to switch between Flash and Html is usually embedded in the player from website. You can see it usually in the corner of the window that opens when you play the movie.

Playing HD in Youtube app

I just updated to the newest YouTube app and the video quality is just awful. I've selected the HD video option in app settings, selected HQ in video settings, but its the same.
Is there some trick to play HD video?
Also, my internet connection is not the cause of this, because I can play 1080p videos on my PC without a problem.

I've had problems with streaming HD video on the youtube app before, I just found it was the wifi, as in distance from the router. I could be totally wrong but it worked for me, you might also want to try playing them through the browser not the app, that also seemed to make them stream faster, good luck.
