[Q] Nexus 4 Volume Control and Softkey Issue - General Questions and Answers

So, I just put my Nexus 4 back to the stock 4.3 after being rooted.
I used Nexus Toolkit 1.7.3 and what I did was use the flash stock rom and unroot option, and the lock it to put it back to exact factory standards.
I now have a rather major issue.
My volume buttons, and back softkey don't work.
The home and multitasking options work, just not the back one,
I am able to take a screenshot with the volume down and power buttons, so I know its not a physical issue.
Anyone have a similar experience or even better, a solution?
At this point I've voided my warranty, so Google or LG will not fix it, right?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Tanks!

Broken Camera Button, Can't get into Bootloader!

I have a rooted G1 and I need to send it back to tmobile.
The buttons went wacky on me! End Home and Camera all act up.

I'd have to believe this is a hardware issue considering the consistent problems I had on multiple Roms.
Thanks!

(HELP) No Touch response on Chinese Tablet "HipStreet Nova HS-7DTB1"

Well, I have a HipStreet Nova HS-7DTB1-4GB Chinese Tablet with Android v2.2 Froyo.
I don't know much about froyo but i think mine has stock rom with little modifications.
I am not getting any touch response from the phone. I faced this problem one before when i deleted the ILITEK Touch Utility (manages touch screen functions on my tablet) after rooting the phone, but physical buttons were working so i tried some combination of keys when powering on the tablet and one them worked and it said something like recovering your phone and it flashed back the original firmware back, so i think it has some kind of recovery mod.
But this time i was trying to manually update the ILITEK Touch Utility and the touch became immediately Irresponsive. now i cannot remember that combination of keys i used last time, i think i have tried all combinations but now it doesn't flash back the firmware, please help if you can.
The Tablet has A Power Button, Auto-Screen-Rotation Lock, Home Button, Menu Button, Volume Up and Down Buttons and A Back Button!
I am still new to android and don't know much about Android, So bear me if i look stupid to you

[Q] Disappearing Dialer on T959v

I have searched heavily for this issue and have not been able to find anything. If I have missed a post, please point me in the right direction.
I have a T-Mobile T959v that is completely stock Gingerbread. It has been carrier unlocked via NCK unlock code. Everything seems to work just fine on the phone. The problem is when I dial a number and press the call button on the screen, the dialer will swoop off to the left side of the screen and never return. The notification bar is still visible. The navigation buttons at the bottom all light up. The navigation buttons do not seem to work during this time. Even after the call is ended by the other party I have to pull the battery to get the screen back to normal and the navigation buttons work just fine until I press the send button when making another call.
I have installed a couple of new proximity sensors. - Did not fix the issue.
I have tried factory resets and clearing cache. - Did not fix the issue.
I have used the Heimdall One-Click to reflash the phone (did not reflash bootloader). - Did not fix the issue.
Anyone experience this before? Is there a solution? Are there any suggestions on what I might try?
That's very strange. I've never seen that before.
If you are willing to read and try, you could try upgrading to one of the ICS or JB custom ROMs here and see if that helps.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I had this before on stock Gingerbread, I just flashed up to ICS. It pissed me off.

[Q] Power Button broken, how to take screenshots now?

Alright so I gave my One S to my girlfriend a few months ago after she dropped her Nexus 4 in the toilet. Fast forward to now, and the power button is not working anymore. The plunger thing that presses into the microswitch broke off somehow. I got an app that can shut the screen off and another app that lets me use the volume buttons to wake up the phone (this one seems to have impacted battery life a little bit as its a persistent service that runs). Anyways, she asks me what to do now about screenshots and I figure a software method might work. Wrong. Nothing I can find in the play store worked, complaining of no root or invalid method or something like that. Ok, I figure i'll root it. Nope, cant do the power button + volume button combos to get into recovery mode or any of that.
So now what? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Using xposed modules can resolve this issue (need root).
If the phone run a sense 5 rom, sense 5 toolbox give you the possibility to remap your keys by several methods (longs press home, long press back, swipe up on homescreen, etc).
If you're not using sense 5, gravitybox can do the job aswell on any JB/KK rom.
Its all stock up to date 4.1 I think tmo USA one s. Can't really root it now without a working power button no? Not sense 5 either does gravitybox need root?

You can root, I've rooted my One S without a working power button. Just install one of the toolkits, such as the WinDroid Universal HTC Toolkit. It carries out all the commands such as booting into bootloader/recovery automatically via adb/fastboot commands.
Once you've rooted, you should install the Xposed Framework and install the Xposed Additions and Xblast Tools modules. I use X.Additions to remap the keys so that my volume key can act as a power key, and xblast tools to add extra shortcuts to the power menu including a 'Screenshot' button, which should help you with your original request

[Q] power button broken

Hey, the power button broke on my nexus s, YYAAYY
the problem is, that it is not just broken, but it is also sorta stuck... what i mean by that is, instead of not being able to press the power button, it is constantly pressed. this means i can not:
1. turn off the phone
2. use the bootloader, which is actually a huge problem, as i havent rooted the thing yet (or rather restored everything to factory a while ago)
3. lock the screen.
what now? i openend it and i cant figure out what is wrong, the button seems just fine on the motherboard, i can even press it, the internal contact seems to be stuck or something. is there any way i can fix that? can i disable the button on a hardware level entirely? or am i missing some way to make it work here?
please help
