[Q] girlfriends volume wont turn up on her phone?

my girls volume wont turn on at all? anyone ever hear about this problem? it isn't rooted....

not sure if it will help, but try this: from the home screen, press the menu button, then choose settings>sound>volume, and check the settings for the various volumes, i.e incoming call, media, system, etc. when my phone was stock like hers, sometimes one or more of those volumes got pushed down to 0 for some reason... it was annoying, and it seemed to happen especially to my notifications volume every time i rebooted the phone! hope that helps

Hey everyone. So I bought a sidekick 4g on craigslist the other day. I checked it out and thought everything was okay, but I was wrong. So far no response from the jerk who sold it to me without telling me about this problem.
The phones volume up key doesn't work 90% of the time. If I reboot the phone or leave it off for a while, the volume up key will work for a few minutes and then stop again. The funny thing is the volume up key works when I want to reboot (holding vol.up + vol.down and power button at the same time).
So is there any fix for this? Will rooting it and loading a rom fix it? Also I am new to all of this, is it even possible to root and load generginger 2.0 with a broke volume up button? The phones firmware is all up to date.

root the phone, and then go back to stock with the heimdall and see if that fixes the problem. and if it does then you should try rooting it again and install one of the Custom ROMs because the stock OS on this phone is garbage out of the box.
but i'm no expert either, it just seems strange that only when its been on for a bit that it stops working. that it works when you boot it seems to suggest that its a software issue? somebody help me out here guys lol

Not bricked but won't boot properly

So quick back story about 3 months ago my gf was downloading whatever update Tmo was pushing to stock phones something went haywire and the phone died and the update didn't take and it will only boot to the hboot menu so my question is is this hardware related ie buttons stuck or is there something software related
Side note when entering hboot cant use the volume rockers to select any options.
If its hardware related can someone direct me to a breakdown guide.

[Q] Nexus 4 Volume Control and Softkey Issue

So, I just put my Nexus 4 back to the stock 4.3 after being rooted.
I used Nexus Toolkit 1.7.3 and what I did was use the flash stock rom and unroot option, and the lock it to put it back to exact factory standards.
I now have a rather major issue.
My volume buttons, and back softkey don't work.
The home and multitasking options work, just not the back one,
I am able to take a screenshot with the volume down and power buttons, so I know its not a physical issue.
Anyone have a similar experience or even better, a solution?
At this point I've voided my warranty, so Google or LG will not fix it, right?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Hey, the power button broke on my nexus s, YYAAYY
the problem is, that it is not just broken, but it is also sorta stuck... what i mean by that is, instead of not being able to press the power button, it is constantly pressed. this means i can not:
1. turn off the phone
2. use the bootloader, which is actually a huge problem, as i havent rooted the thing yet (or rather restored everything to factory a while ago)
3. lock the screen.
what now? i openend it and i cant figure out what is wrong, the button seems just fine on the motherboard, i can even press it, the internal contact seems to be stuck or something. is there any way i can fix that? can i disable the button on a hardware level entirely? or am i missing some way to make it work here?
please help

u need tools to do that, a hot airgun. Just pick up the solder that holds the button and button vl be in your hand so get the button replaced

[HELP] Need to pull files from semi-bricked XT1040

Hello, hope someone can help me.
XT1040: boot-loader locked, unrooted, stock ROM 5.0.
My phone was having some increasing blue-screen issues (hardware issue for sure) and is now able to turn on OK, but after the boot animation I have no video, only a black screen which weirdly shows only the power off dialogue when pressing power button and doesn't recognize touch input.
I didn't root as to not loose warranty in Brazil and I probably need to get a new phone; thing is I need to get some important files before sending it there and I don't have a USB connection to PC anywhere except on stock recovery. I can enter side-load mode, but I'm guessing it's not possible to pull files from there.
I'm probably ****ed, just wished to get this past you guys... I really don't wanna lose all the lyrics for my songs; any help is very much appreciated.
Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I want to keep the boot-loader locked if possible to keep my warranty; though if there's no option I'm willing to unlock.
