Noob, so I cant post this where it actually belongs..
So I thought to give Surface RT a chance and bought one. I still have my iPad on the side, and I would like to get rid of it, if RT works for my purposes. Now I have few issues with mi new shiny device.
Question 1:
I have managed to "install" jailbreak and use some of those nice Desktop apps ported to Windows RT.
But I cant/dont know how to use ffmpeg0.6.
I have installed it, but when launching app it tells me about missing dll file. What can I do about it? There is no GUI?
Question 2:
I use Internet Explorer to watch some live hockey streams that are Flash based (also available on html5), but it seems to be somewhat too laggy. Is there something that might fix that?
Question 3:
Almost all my video files are AVIs and playback is terrible. Very low fps and stuttering audio and video. I have tried several media players from Microsoft Store but same issue with them all. Around 700 Mb *.avi files are not working properly and this could be a dealbreaker with this device for me... Is RTs processor just too weak, or is there someting that might fix this issue?

I am looking to possibly go on an extended business trip (two months for a particular project), and was contemplating taking one of my desktops or possibly buying a laptop. But it occurred to me that I might be overlooking an obvious answer.
While I obviously won't be doing Photoshop work on my Xoom, it occurs to me that if I get the dock that I should be able to playback to the HDMI that is likely to be on the TV in my room. Already have a Bluetooth keyboard so doing some work even on documents and presentations isn't likely to be THAT difficult. So the remaining question is can I get the Xoom to talk to my 4TB external USB 2.0 drive for saving files and playing back video? Or is that taking things too far?
Thanks in advance!
From what I have seen, you will need to wait to install a custom kernel to get USB mass storage to work because HC 3.1 doesnt yet support that. So that means you will need root. But once you have done that it is doable
Now if your still using 3.0.1 then install timat 1.4.1 using kernel manager and check out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020174
Also you have to consider the limitations on the Tegra2 video playback, to put it in a simple way, won't play your hi quality mkv's without the need of re-encoding the video. And that you can't do on the xoom
For the other things its awesome, I also have a BT keyboard with pointer and was really nice sitting somewhat far from the xoom and browse the internet or watch youtube on the LCD. Also played some PSX games and some Game Cube to test for lag or anything, not bad at all.
as stated above if you get the 3.1 update you would be able to use your HDD
I have a few questions about the eeePad, before I decide if I should buy one or not.
1) First of all, how is the ebook reading experience in an eeepad?
Is it readable without zooming a lot? Also, is it slow (it was kinda slow in a galaxy tab I once saw!) when you use ebooks or pdf files with a lot of pages or pictures?
2) How is gaming? Any good keyboard playable games?
Any RPGs? Anyone tried wesnoth?
Edit: Okay, so the emulators work!
3) How is the movie playback of non mp4 formats (mkv, rmvb, avi etc.)?
As far as I tried, it works on desire z and was very slow on xperia mini pro (old one) and galaxy gt-i5510!
4) I saw the thread on Ubuntu! Is it slow? Can it run any other OS?
5) Does normal android apps (the ones for mobiles I mean) work in eeepad?
Do they shrink or become too large or something?
If these questions were already asked, I apologize in advance!
1) Fine. I find the Kindle App and Polaris Office (for PDFs) works fine. Readability without zooming depends on the user also; I don't have problems.
2) Some work (e.g. Muffin Knight), gaming on Android varies I guess. And thx, didn't know someone was selling a Wesnoth port; I'll have to check that and see what's up.
3) I'll leave it to others here, since I don't even own a Blu-Ray player yet...hehe.
4) Probably, read the thread maybe? Remember it's armv7l not x86 or x86_64. I run Debian stable in a chroot.
5) That's kind of configurable. Generally it works fine in my experience (most apps I use are not made for tablets).
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
3)Tested a 720p 2,36gb mkv and played smooth with diceplayer (not-free). But when you turn hdmi out the subtitles doesn't show on the tv. Maybe not a big problem for you ..
5) Apps works perfect in my experience, i didn't notice that someones are not made for tablets
Evening Guys / Gals
Right I've been scratching my head on this one for days now and it seems that no one for some bizarre reason ever came across this issue before. OK I'm a bit of a Noob when it comes to Android but I manage to get my head around things pretty fast.
Anyhow My issue. I have an Archos (Arnova 10b - 8GB) tablet Yeah its a cheap one but thought it would be better than buying a kindle... What I'm trying to do is to stream Videos over my network using PLEX ver 2.0.0.6 and the latest Plex Media server
My PC is a Windows 7 x64-bit system and My Archos is still running the Official 2.1 Eclair Firmware. I did mod it at one point with the kasty-arn10b-22-01 FW but the Archos did not behave very well on it so I had to revert back to stock FW.
(I could not find a stable Version of Froyo for it yet so if you do have any suggestions, and I mean any suggestions at all (without Bricking it) --- PLEASE let me know)
So the Plex Media server is running on my PC and I can see and browse my Videos with ease from the Archos tablet using the Plex 2.0.0.6 App. However when I try to run any .avi or mvk files on the Archos it seems to load and buffer the video fine but eventually fails on me with the following error:
Unexpected error while trying to play media item at: <MYIP>:32400/Video/:Transcode/Segment/Start -> and which seems to be allot of information about the type of file and coding it tried to use.
Now I do believe that this is a codec issues and was able to pull the logcat from my Archos - The Full Text file is attached for those that are interested.
What interested me was the following:
D/c*.p*.a*.v*.PlexVideoV*( 1673): Transitioning from INITIALIZED to ERROR.
E/VideoPlayerActivity( 1673): Error when trying to display media : There was a problem accessing or playing the media. It may be that this is not a supported format on this device.
I/c*.p*.a*.v*.PlexVideoV*( 1673): Stopping video transcode session.
I know it works on Froyo I've tested it on my Previously modded Archos and a Samsung Galaxy Mini. But is not able to get this to work on Eclair
Other then modding it back to an unstable version of Froyo... Do you guys have any ideas how I might be able to resolve this debacle??

Resolved - I installed Orb Live on my Android 2.1 and Orb Caster on my PC. Problem Resolved.
Hi,
I have recently bought the Measy U2A, only because I wanted to play XBMC on my non-internet TV via HDMI and connect this to my NAS.
This device seemed ideal as it was stated to be Neon-compatible and it was stated that this device could handle XBMC perfectly. Now, as I have tried to install every different version of XBMC for Android on it and I always get the same problem: XBMC crashes and gives a black screen from the moment that I let it do some heavier work (for example when he has added a location with movies and is scraping the content of this location). Any idea what could be done about this?
My sole purpose for the Measy was to use it as a mini-HTPC and the summary lines of this device made me believe it was possible so I hope I am overlooking something or that there is a solution to this problem. (I am using the standard skin, so even without using the heavier Aeon Nox skin it still crashes)
Thanks for the help!

Anyone?
I use Magix Movie Edit Pro.
I was very annoyed discovering this software is NOT using my GPU!
I have a great NViDIA GeForce RTX 2060. However, I cannot make any serious project with it, because the program still works on Intel Graphics!! What is that about??!!
I am asking precisely about Cinema Pro 21:9 footage. Is there something special about it in terms of codecs?
What happens:
When my program is using Intel Graphics (internal Intel 630) I can see the footage in the program. But it lags, it is not strong enough.
So when I switch to my Graphics card, NViDia GeForce RTX 2060 I see all videos blank. Black.
What should I do?
Check Windows 10 Graphicsettings. You can select which GPU it has to use for each Program...
Thank you. As I mentioned above:
- when I select internal Intel 630 graphics, I can see the footage. But after big editing, the program starts to be very sluggish.
- when I make my program use dedicated graphics card NViDIA GeForce RTX2060, the footage is black. I just hear the audio.
- On Vegas Po 14 I see the footage completely green.
I see many Xperia 5 videos on internet. What do people use to edit Cinema Pro footage? Adobe?
I don't own a Xperia 5 myself, so I can't give a definitive advice. I could imagine that Adobe Premiere Pro handles the files well with its CUDA empowered GPU rendering option.
Other than that maybe Blackmagic Design's Resolve can work with the files or you could try Avid Media Composter First (both are available as free version)?
I can offer to test it from my workstation if you upload an original file (via wetransfer for example). If you do so please try and make sure that file size does not exceed 500mbs (slow internet here --> rural Germany...).
Maybe I will send the file. The problem is the edit is quite advanced and there is no way to replicate it on another program.
But it would be good to know for the future of course.

Usually NLEs provide, the option to export timelines (or your whole project) as XML (or EDL) files. I assume Vegas has this option aswell? This way, if another editing software supports the Xperia 5's Cinema Pro App videos in a better way, it could be an option for you.
