Hi,
I have recently bought the Measy U2A, only because I wanted to play XBMC on my non-internet TV via HDMI and connect this to my NAS.
This device seemed ideal as it was stated to be Neon-compatible and it was stated that this device could handle XBMC perfectly. Now, as I have tried to install every different version of XBMC for Android on it and I always get the same problem: XBMC crashes and gives a black screen from the moment that I let it do some heavier work (for example when he has added a location with movies and is scraping the content of this location). Any idea what could be done about this?
My sole purpose for the Measy was to use it as a mini-HTPC and the summary lines of this device made me believe it was possible so I hope I am overlooking something or that there is a solution to this problem. (I am using the standard skin, so even without using the heavier Aeon Nox skin it still crashes)
Thanks for the help!

Hello All,
This is my first android operating system, was always apple and windows before. I am loving my new TF700 and already found 4share.
My question is advice on apps to help me out. I have a home theater PC filled with thousands of movies, what is the best way to stream it to my tablet? Also, is there a good app for downloading things from my PC over wifi?
I saw that this tablet came with something called Splashtop, is that the best way to remote desktop? Or should I be looking for something else.
Sorry if these sound like n00b questions, I just thought this would be the best place to ask since we are all using the same device and I thought some/most of you have already found something good to fill this gap.
Thanks!
you can stream with a file manager, such as File Manager HD. I use BSPlayer to stream my blu ray collection.
you can also copy items from your pc to device by using File Manager HD as well. Just go to settings, LAN connection and scan until you find it. Then just put in your credentials. On your pc, just make sure you set the sharing permissions accordingly.
Im not sure abut splashtop, i use ubuntu, but i hear its a good app.

Sth called MyNet comes preinstalled, it uses DLNA. You can try Movie Browser HD too, for example. There's bunch of similar apps for that, search the market in case these two don't satisfy your needs.
Remember to switch DLNA on on your PC.

The best one I ever used is VPlayer, it's way better than BSPlayer which volume is significantly lower. Its UI is way better, you just swipe to right or left to get local, streaming from media servers or urls. Try it.
Servio and Plex runnng on my home server covers all my needs server side. I stream to a host of different tablets, phones, remote access browsers, and google TV. Plex is my preferred method, but also use Bubbleupnp To stream and download from the Servio server software.
the mynet one on the stock infinity turned out to be great ! thanks guys . im really intrested in buying a roku and running things to more devices now
hi all, i have bought the above smart tv dongle thingy from maplins
http://www.maplin.co.uk/point-of-view-hdmi-smart-tv-dongle-android-4.1-685649
anyone have one of these? im pretty impressed with it, im not too happy with the menu though and id like to customize it a bit.. any ideas on what can be done with this device?
Thanks
First thing to do with this device
I just got one.
First thing I did was install ADW Launcher Ex on it and get rid of the horrible launcher it came with.
Now I have a very fast 42" tablet, with widgets, live wallpapers the lot, no root required.
This thing has loads of potential, but if you read the customer reviews on Maplin you'll see they haven't understood that this is Android and you can customise the heck out of it.
The only thing I've found missing so far is a lock screen in case you don't want others using it while your not there without unplugging it. I also heard it loses datetime if you unplug it, not surprising as it doesn't have an internal clock battery.
It's surprisingly fast, but if you're mouse pointer will lag under heavy load.
Still exploring potential will post back as I find out more.
Ah thanks! I have since rooted and installed different firmware! I found out that it was a re-branded Rikomagic MK802III and installed the latest firmware for that device which is way better. I have XBMC running alongside MX Player Hardware video decoding, all is sweet. I found out all I needed from this guys post. Enjoy

I also have this dongle which is connected to my tv. I also have mine and my Mrs's Android phones which are running kit Kat and another ohms running on jelly bean.
Is there anyway to mirror my or my wife's phone to the dongle add we both have the mirror screen option on or phones?
Answers/help will be appreciated.
Point of View HDMI Smart TV dongle - interface & WD My Passport
Hi,
I have just bought the hdmi dongle and m not very technology savvy. One of the main reasons I got it was to be able to connect my WD My Passport to it to play movies etc. However I can't seem to change the settings on the menu - so when I click on Movies - rather than all my separated folders showing up - instead it shows an icon of my 1500 movies (which includes about 750 clips of my kids). I can't seem to find a way to get it to display the folders, or even a list of the movies rather than the huge icons! Is there a way around this?
Thanks in advance,
Colette
I initially thought it would be a much simpler process.. but it seems to be more complicated than it should be. i tried a dozen of apps but still could not get to watch videos stored on my S4 (4.3) and display it on my iPad mini retina (on ios 7.04). here's a list of apps which i tried:
- airsync by doubletwist
- air playit
- remoteplay
- iMediaShare / Flipps
- knockitLive (site closed down)
out of all these apps, AirSync seemed to be a promising app which should work with all Airplay-enabled devices (i.e. my iPad). however, the Airplay icon didn't show up on my iPad even after i broadcasted my S4.
can anyone advise whether there's a simple solution to this? thank you so much !

Hi! You can use DLNA tehnology. You need DLNA server for S4 device and DLNA player (or streaming compatible player) for iOS device. This pair good working in one Wi-Fi network.
any proven app combination that works well? i've tried a couple but still the same issue (unable to detect my s4 server)
I not have ability for test specific app tandem, because I happy nexus 7 owner. But then I testing this technology, used Ice cold DLNA server and WM player on home network. I can testing this only after holidays (Jan. 9th), or you can try spend series experimental.
I interested subj and test again some apps. Simply and working server - ice dlna server. Best choose for android from tested - BubbleUpnp app. Settings for this program rather convoluted, but capability - universal.
For iOS apps I found blog post, link below. If tested apps, please write, that pair guaranteed worked, please.

Using BubbleUpnp on my Android worked. Played back on iPad 2 through the VLC app, which detected the server. CineX also worked but I found the VLC app had a better UI. Both had stuttering problems but CineX seemed better, although not sure if it was due to me changing the settings.
Hello, first of all.
It's been a long time since I have visited this place, so excuse me please if I missed a similar thread. I have searched for it.
My question is if it this possible to turn my old Motorola XT 720 into an Android TV box (i.e. Chromecast or similar).
I have tried CheapCast app that only crashed when opening YouTube. This phone has a HDMI port and I assumed it can connect through it to my Philips TV, which is not a smart TV, but a regular HD TV.
The only connection I was able to create was the built-in version of media gallery from phone which has the option to display the pictures from phone on TV screen (proving there is a working connection at least).

This should be possible as the device has the ability to use another display. I would recommend using something like Tablet Remote or other similar apps on the Play store so instead of using the device as a chrome cast you can use it as a full media center device connected to your TV. By using one of these apps you would play videos directly through your device instead of "casting" them. This should hopefully work arround the issue of apps like CheapCast crashing.
Hope I could help and good luck
Thank you, Tablet Remote works good between the 2 Android phones. Still working on it.
I am also working on this route, trying to make use of my screen-broken Xperia Z. However apart from using as mediacenter with kodi, it would be nice if I could properly emulate chromecast. I would love to see a nexus android TV Rom being able to drive my phone, is anybody working on that?

Hello all,
I think the title says it all. I have an old device that I would like to hook up to an extra tv for the sole purpose of using it for Plex. The kicker of it all is, I do not find the Plex Moble/Tablet interface to work all that well with a remote. Is it possible to enable or somehow trick Plex into thinking that this device is something like a Nexus Player, or some sort of other trick to force it into that interface?
That would be great!
i second that ! ... is there ? or maybe its an options on a certain version ?

Oh, hey. I actually know how to do this. Er - you need to put the attached file into system/etc/permissions. This should trick the Plex app into running into leanback mode.
Okay, one of those two files will do the trick. I forget which, but it's one of those.
What versions of android does this support?
I just had a look at the Raspberry Pi Android TV build, and this was the only file I could find in /etc/permissions that had anything to do with Android TV.
The build I ripped it from was Android 6.0.1
I have also included the LeanbackLauncher.

Plex actually has it as option in the settings.
settings -> General -> Application Layout
The choices are "mobile" or 'TV"
But does anyone know how to do change it so that "all" apps think they are on a TV box?
Arggh , more reading less thinking next time.
It looks like the xml file you attached might do the trick.
I will try it out for some of my other problematic apps.
Thanks
i have the inphic i5 running 4.4.2 I dropped both files but Netflix still thinks it is on a phone.
Any suggestions?
If you're okay with spending a couple dollars
Buy the app "App Cloner" in the Play Store
Then download plex and choose it in the App Cloner app
Go down the options and enable "Enable TV Version"
This should work if you install it on your device
