Are there any (alomst) confirmed news about IR blaster on N5?
It hasn't come up with any of the leaks so it is probably safe to assume it won't have one.
No it won't. Google barely just added remote control support in Android 4.3. Nexus 5 was already built by then. If this is a deal breaker then maybe you should consider the LG G2.

One of the halo features of the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich is Beam, which via NFC lets you tap two phones together to share a map, image, website, or link to an app. Sure, we got a look at it during the demo this morning, but we decided to track down two Galaxy Nexus devices (or Galaxy Nexi) and see the direct sharing ourselves. As you will see in the video after the break, the transfer of a map and a website was really seamless and to confirm the transfer you are required to tap once on the phone sending the info. There's no confirmation on the receiving phone, you do have to enable the Beam and NFC features in the settings. That seems like a solid amount of protection, and considering you have to physically tap the two phones together, we assume you'd know that something is being sent over to your handset. Hit the break to see it all in action.
Any ideas if this will work with transformer (or is it something that has on the nexus s back "plate" to do?
what do you think about this feature?
Useless ...
Cool!
Yeah beat this windows and apple .... This is the feature don't!
eh WT* is this?
As neat of a feature this is, it will unfortunately not be coming to our beloved tablets as they lack NFC as a whole.

yeah i just saw that the android beam is only on the upcoming android devices with android 4.0 witch means only nexus prime has it :/
NFC needs another radio ( hardware). Unless the tablet or phone had NFC hardware, it will not work. Just like TF101 does not do 3G. Unless the new TF had the hardware it will not take advantage of this feature. NFC is showing up in phones in prep for payment services. This feature is fairly common in Europe.
I think the feature is awesome n will hopefully add tons of stuff to be able to transfer with it in the future.

I would like to get a discussion going. See what others think, maybe theres some good I'm not seeing, or maybe more bad.
I like what Google does and I like their products. But they have been P***ing me off here lately with two of their products. The first one is the Nexus Q, not because of the price, but it's functionality, and when they released it... The other is the Chromecast. My reasons, I'm a GoogleTV owner. I've had my Sony Blu-ray GoogleTV since bate. Got it about 3 to 4 months after GoogleTV came out. Before the Nexus Q, GoogleTV had it's fair share of disappointments. No Hulu, which ain't the biggest deal breaker, with all the other content it does have. The Logitech being another one, then it taking so long for GoogleTV to get updated to Honeycomb. The Honeycomb update was about 9 months before Google I/O 2012, and the Nexus Q unveiling. Going into that year, at CES we seen a new batch of GoogleTV devices. It seemed like thing would start to look up for the platform. I wasn't expecting another version update at that years I/O, but maybe some more good news. Instead, we got the Nexus Q. I took it as a smack in the face. No real if any news about GoogleTV that I can remember at that years I/O. I hated it, I felt they should have gave us a Nexus GoogleTV with the Nexus Q features. Nonetheless, the Nexus Q didn't pan out. At this years CES we seen some more GoogleTV devices, and I felt at this years Google I/O they really need to do something with this platform. A new version update which they did, and I was hoping for a Nexus GooglTV/ Q hybrid which they didn't. I feel they should release a Nexus GoogleTV, I think it will help the platform. I'm glad about the update coming to GoogleTV, but can't help to think Google wasn't overly excited about the update. It seemed like they just said here, here's your stupid update. And now, they release another media device, that seems to feel like another smack in the face. And it's running a striped down version of GoogleTV source " http://blog.gtvhacker.com/ " There's rumors of another Media box coming from Google, is it a GoogleTV, or another smack in the face? Anyways the kicker, is both these devices were limited compared to GoogleTV. GoogleTV has been the redheaded stepchild of Google. It has it's potential I don't know why Google is doing so little with it. Let me know what you guys think. Do you think Chromecast will become more like GoogleTV. Do you think will see more and better things for the OG GoogleTV?
I don't really think Chromecast is headed to be an alternative or replace GoogleTV. I don't have any of them myself, but from what I've read about them, Chromecast seems like a replacement for an HDMI cable, just an easier way to transfer video and audio to your TV. Also, it makes it possible to play video from multiple devices like a tablet or computer pretty easily. The GoogleTV is a complete system that has everything contained to be able to get internet videos and movies to play on your TV, whereas Chromecast is merely a means to transfer the videos, kinda like DLNA.
It's not that I think their going to replace GoogleTV. It's more about the lack of support their giving the platform. Their entering basically the same market as the GoogleTV, with new products while ignoring another. Maybe after this update to JB I'll be more at ease. I would still like to see some hardware from Google tho...

Only speculation. The FCC photo shows a strange cut-out/window in the upper back middle, which led to the speculation, but the recent Service Manual leak had no mention of this hardware and capability.

I had been waiting, I know the LG G2 and original G had them, and Kit Kat is said to improve IR remote control yet they didn't implement it on their new device... Weird

It's not that Kit-Kat improved it, they added initial support. Prior to 4.4, all IR phones had proprietary interfaces that were not inter-operable.
Considering these phones are in development for over a year prior to release, IR wasn't even on the table for Google when the HTC One and Galaxy S4 were released. Adding it at that point would have been a dramatic setback on the release, and mostly a pointless one. There's no apps out right now that would even support it (as they all are designed to run on the proprietary IR emitters, not KitKat's).
Specifically one that is Compatible with Nexus Imprint or the Marshmallow Fingerprint API or something. I am coming from a Jailbroken iPhone 5S with BioProtect, so I am absolutely positive that I will miss such a feature. I know I should ask this in the 5X/6P forums but I don't know which one and I don't think Double-posting is liked here.
Which link
Just one easy Question !
Does HTC U11 have an IR BLASTER ?
i I really miss this cool feature ! I am still using One M9 Plus just about this reason !
I don't think IR will available on this model
i could not find true information about it
I can confirm you that there isn't any IR emitter on the U11
I want it back !
+1
i want it back
Any apps combined with an IR Blaster that we can use to replace the built in IR ?
I'm still using my M8!

Try SURE Universal;
You will need to purchase additional WiFi to IR blaster

same reason why I have been hesitant to upgrade to newer phones.
I'm so used to remote controlling my room Fans, TV, PC, etc... from the phone
It is very interesting, HTC and Samsung power off the ir blaster since 2016. None of these phones have it since 2016. It was very usefull feature. I can not change my one m9 plus becouse of this reason.
Ir blaster.
Hi I have the Same problem. I Recently upgraded to a note8 from a HTC m9 -Totally forgot about i r blaster: I use a harmony Hub to control all i r devices now and it works fine. it comes with an i r transmitter So you can control items in cabinets etc. I just wish more phones had i r blasters built in.
Ir blaster use.
I went from evo, desire, m7 to m9. I've just replaced the battery in my M9, and we'll replace it again when necessary. I plan to make this phone last indefinitely. I will not downgrade to the u11 or m10. Why would I pay flagship phone price for a phone that doesn't even have an IR blaster. The problem with both HTC and Samsung is that they use the peel app to gauge how much the ir blaster is used. Most people use a better quality third-party app such as anymote. So this is a poor way to determine the popularity of the IR blaster.
