Is there away to have the volume controls lock when the screen is locked or when the Bluetooth is connected. My headset (lg 720) will not turn up the phones Bluetooth volume only it's own volume. So when I put the phone in the case it turns volume down to 0 half the time or when I move and push against the case some times turns way down real pain in the butt. Not quite sure what you are asking. Are you talking about making calls with your headset and the volume is moving on you to 0? Perhaps Tasker would fix this issue.
No what I got happening is while listening to music on my Bluetooth headset at work I can turn off the screen before putting the phone back in the holster and about half the time the holster would rub against the volume down button just enough to turn the volume down all the way. Just wondering if there was a way to disable the volume buttons while the screen was turned off.

Not to my knowledge, but Tasker should be able to do that with a proper profile when your screen is off.
Yes you can with xposed additions module, very cool xposed framework module that allows you to configure all your buttons while the screen is off or on. Works perfect on moto x

Whatever engineer designed the timing of the lights on the capacitive touch keys on the Infuse ought to be fired twice. Once for the design and once for not having an option for an adjustable or always on setting when the screen is on.
There must be a way to make the <OPTION/HOME/PREV/SEARCH> bar to stay lit up. It is driving me absolutely nuts. It goes out in like 2 seconds after I have touched it. No idea why they did that. Stupid stupid stupid stupid design. 9 out of 10 times I hit the wrong key while in an app. It is so annoying.
I am really surprised no DEV has built a longer time option or even an always on option for those keys into a ROM. It's dumb design like that that makes me almost miss my iPhone.
From reading & searching it seems this doesn't bother too many people. I just can't understand why not.
I have tried "KEEP THE LIGHTS ON" app but it is pretty much useless on the Infuse.
there is an app called "keep the lights on" i havent tried it on the infuse but it works on some of the sgs phones.
edit: sorry didnt read the last line of the first post,
its not that hard to memorize 4 buttons, and if you touch the screen, the buttons or the volume rocker they come on.
Just tap the screen and they come back on.

As my OP says: "I have tried "KEEP THE LIGHTS ON" app but it is pretty much useless on the Infuse."
Memorizing them isn't the problem, it's hitting the wrong spot. For some people, with specific physical disabilities, it's not that easy.
Just a simple OPTION would resolve the issue. Still a stupid design. If the screen is lit why shouldn't those keys be lit. The amount of power that backlight draws is probably negligible.

Not always depending on what is happening on the screen and sometimes tapping the screen causes problems with the app that is running.

After about an hour of messing around with my phone I am so used to selecting those touchkeys that most the time I do not even look anymore!

Unfortunately for some people there are things that prevent some of the simple things in life that others take for granted from being simple tasks.
They aren't that hard to see with the lights off...My phone is about 5 feet away from me and I can still see the home keys just fine.
wow what's going on, i think we are exhausting the op withthe same advice, lol
like i said, i missed that you tried keep the lights on, and yeah there is no reason the lights shouldnt be on all the time. its just something to deal with. sorry
Is it set on timing or a light sensor? Maybe try ro put something over screen sensor black tape or something.

it is timing, not sure if iti is in services.jar or framework or the kernel. nobody has ever seemed interested in addressing this outside of the keep the lights on app, not sure why.
Let me just say, I am truly pleased that it is not a problem for those of you who replied how easy it is for you, but for those of us that it is a problem it remains a problem.

I hear you. This is one of the few things I don't like about this device. Most of the time it's not an issue, but in low light or darkness it's a bit of a pain trying to locate the right button to press.
"Keep The Lights On" app works fine for me
I just installed the "Keep the Lights On" app, and it works flawlessly. The bottom menu buttons stay on as long as the screen stays on.
Question: When you installed the app, did you add it as a widget, and then enable it? You need root access for this app to work.
I am using Infused 1.5.3, so, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Edit: Just an FYI, I am using the free version. I would use the pro version, but I'll probably just end up uninstalling this app .

Yes, I installed it as a widget and I do have root access. I am also running Infused 1.53. What kernel are you running? Maybe that is the difference?
It did work for the first few minutes I had it installed than eventually it started getting weird. Sometimes it would work in reverse, most of the time it wouldn't work at all, sometimes it would never shut off (which was OK with me). I contacted the DEV and he said it wasn't compatible with the Infuse and that would be the behavior he would expect.
I think if you use it for a while you'll see what I mean.
Edit: Just uninstalled/reinstalled. First time phone wakes up it works. Once it "sleeps" then wakes up lights NEVER come back on. If I turn widget off/on the same thing recycles. Works once than fails.
I've got to agree with the OP. Since we don't have a nice physical home button, it would be nice to get this thing lit up so we can see. I'm always in a dark environment and I keep hitting the 'back' instead of the 'home' key.
While we're at it, I like to know who the genius is that decided the location of the power button. It's almost impossible to push the button without squeezing the volume buttons. If they come out with a Infuse2 with the power button on the top, I'll switch in a second.

These sorts of issues (both the OP and the power button placement) are easily avoided if you actually go to a store and play with a phone instead of ordering online.
While I do agree that those two issues could have been handled better, I also understand that we're never going to get a perfect phone. So you live with what you like best.
Hi I have a problem with my Desire S. Recently got update now I when I receive a text or call when it next sleeps it will not wake when I press the power button.
If I pull the battery out it reboots fine and if I plug in the power cable it wakes up but not from the power button and its not exactly easy to just quickly slip the battery out of this thing.
I've done a hard reset (volume power button thing) but the problems still there has anyone any ideas for a fix.
Wondering about how to go back to last version is it possible?
You should be aware that it's extremely risky removing the battery from a running phone, there is a real chance that you'll damage the phone permanently
Sounds like your power button could be damaged, some roms enable the phone to be woodmen up using volume button, the one I'm on, see sig

This problem occurs frequently endymion 3.4 after call or even if the call was not successful. It seems the problem is with proximity sensor. When I swipe my finger over sensor or show light over sensor area it wakes up but not always.I do not face this problem with other aosp ROM.
Left field, do you gave a screen protector? This can effect they proximity sensor

Hi, I have a Samsung Infuse that I have set up with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.activity&hl=en for my elderly Mom who has trouble with overly technical things.
Anyways, I flash CyanogenMOD as the sub ROM.
I'm wondering, have there been any advancements in the capacitive button backlighting lately? Last time I refreshed her phone, it was still only working with the stupidness where the always-on mod worked, but the lights would not turn on until you pressed a button first. Then the light would come on and stay on until the phone was put back to sleep again.
I hate this, she hates this. Has this mod been improved lately?
As far as cyanogemod goes, only cm10.2 has duration control for the backlight on the capacitive buttons. Cm11 will have a button section on the next build whenever that will make it out.

Thanks. But does it work the way I'm asking about? Such as the moment you bring the phone out of sleep, the capacitive buttons light up immediately. Without you needing to touch the buttons first.
And then stay on until phone is turned off again.
Anyone?!
Is anyone else having an issues when on a call to someone you take it away from your ear and look at your phone and the screen doesn't come back on. I have to hit the power button to make the screen wake up. I'm all stock (4.4.2) with unlocked bootloader. I m trying to see if this is a hardware problem where I need to RMA or software problem.
Mine works perfectly well. Are you sure you don't have anything that might be affecting the proximity sensor, like smudges or a screen protector?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
No, I don't have any screen protector not any smudges. I saw similar issues on other phones and someone said to clear data and cache on the phone app so I don't know if that will work or not.

What time out do you have your screen set to? Sounds like it's simply locking after the designated time.
I've noticed the screen turning on and off occasionally when talking. Almost like the sensor isn't sure if I'm holding it to my head or not but then I do hold it away from my face.
I have the same issue...
I can't hang a call because the screen simply don't turn on when I remove my phone from the ear.
In add at this issue, seems like the proximity sensor turn off the backlight screen only.
When I finish a call, I found the clock screen opened, in my case the settings screen of advanced clock widget...
It's really annoying...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Do you guys have a screen protector applied by any chance? Everyone had this issue with the nexus 4 because the sensor is really sensitive and picks the protector up, not letting it turn the screen on. Try removing a section of the protector where the sensor sits, this will fix your issue.
Surprisingly, I don't have this problem
Team Nexus 5 sucks. Underpowered battery for a 5inch 1080p screen that is non-removable. Weak generic antenna that drops signal. Worst speaker of any device on the market. Cheap plastic build.

I have it on 15 seconds. Shouldn't that feature be bypassed when a call is in progress so that the proximity sensor is usable. This is the first phone that I've had that has done this to me. On all others the proximity sensor stays live even after the predetermined sleep time.
After 15 seconds you're screen is simply turning off as you have set. Mine does so after 1 minute, which is my screen time out setting.

During a call shouldn't the screen timeout be bypassed then go back to the default setting once the call has ended? That makes much more sense to me.

This seems to be the built in functionality of the phone and not a bug. I can't really say if one way is better then the other but I just turn the screen off during calls now.

Same problem here do any one have solution for this..
Hello all:
Today my power button has become nonresponsive. I've done nothing unusual with my phone but I do remember early in the morning it rather strangely vibrating 3 times while I was browsing something, and it wasn't a phone call nor an incoming text, and I'm wondering if that was a signifier of what was to come. In any event, the phone is functional otherwise, for I can still slide out the keyboard in order to wake the screen. However, I dare not let the battery completely run out, lest I not be able to turn it on anymore, and I can't do a reboot of the phone (or screen shot, for that matter) since the power + volume down button combo doesn't work; it just lowers my volume. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I had that happen once - just pop the back cover off & re-seat it, make sure it aligns properly. See if that fixes it.

good advice.
before closing the back lid, try to push the button with your finger nails.
if you don't feel the click and just feel mushy, then you are screwed. I lost my camera button in that way from day 1 and I thought it's the way it is.
You have to expect a tactile feedback with every buttons.
