[Q] katkiss and ram expander - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I have a question about ram expander software - it is said there can be boost in performance if I use it. Just wondering is it worth it? I installed latest Katkiss based on Android 4.3 on my tf101 and it is doing pretty well so far. Maybe someone already has experience.
Thanks!

Hmmm - I think Ram Expansion on Android is just a case of a swap-file being created on your SD card, so factors such as the speed of your SD card will influence how well it works.
There is a discussion on XDA about a Ram Expansion App - mightn't be the same as yours though - here

Thanks for the link, I see there are different opinions regarding the topic but no consensus Looks like I have to check it by myself and then decide. Will see what happens if I use 10 class SD card for that.

Xperia play Gameloft games lagging

Ok first off let me assure everyone that i have looked at every other thread made on this topic and have only started this one because i didnt find an answer and also because i really cant take this lag anymore. See i get annoying lag on nova 2 and backstab and strangley modern combat 3,9MM,order and chaos and rainbow six run fine. i have a class 4 sandisk 32gb card, rooted bloat removed not overclocked . i make sure to kill any ongoing apps that might interfere. i dont use task killers. so guys do any of you have a solution?
Having the same problems here. The framerate drops, then controls respond very late...

Have a long time the same Problems. Root with Bloatware cleaning and another tweaks helps only a little bit. Now i unlock Thema bootloader and only OC helps. Now all games are very smooth. This ins not optimal for all Users...

Try doing a SD card speed test and see how fast SD reads and writes data.
I can imagine if the SD card reads rather slow that you experience lag while playing.
I'm also having a bit of lag since i switched to my 32GB class 4
It is 100% from SD card. Class 4 is sh.t for hard gaming.
I recommend 16 GB class 6 and up.

Has it not already been established that higher class are not good performers when it comes to gaming due to slower random access

Class 4 is the standard for Hard gaming. Class 2 and below, OR Class 10 is ****. Class 6 cards are rare, and there havent been any hard tests i've seen on them vs class 4 on this phone.
Class 10 cards are made for Digital Cameras, period.
I just got a class 6 32 gb sd to replace my class 4 16gb & I dont know about proper tests but as far as simply transferring data from xplay to pc(or by card reader) I swear it is slower than class 4!!

I have the exact same problem as you guys!
My xperia play was lagging with the class 2 8gb sd card that came with the phone, so I decided to buy a class 4 16gb sd card instead..
while it's great that the card has more space, the games still lag quite badly; almost to the point that the games are unplayable
thread
well i just bought a class 4 32gb to get rid of lag from what im seeing here that wont cut it i just want to know if anyone has found a proper solution many thanks for your posts
I have a 16gb class 2 card and I get very little lag. Gameloft games play lag free more than 95% of the time. I'm running stock .42 with locked bootloader, rooted. I've removed lots of SE's bloat and use Autostarts to stop apps running in the background and I've applied a few ram tweaks

could i ask what ram tweaks? thanks for the post
I use v6 supercharger to lock my launcher in memory, and I use the 'Lost' default in Autokiller Memory Optimizer. You could also try the hard gaming option in Ram Manager

i downloaded autokiller can i use the lost settings without superchargerv6?
i hate seeing this thread. read the reviews before you buy games gameloft are not the best xperia play optimized games, people know this already plus i would not be worried about lag more so the fact you just cant control them.
gameloft rush out there games as fast as they can dont seem like they even test them on play. i have brought 7 myself and not one of them is perfect far from it. also dont talk about updates i brought mc2 when it came out and was kind of playable then they tried updating it and became even worst even more uncontrollable and laggy and they left it like that to this day.
people should know for future gameloft = hint and miss dont expect to much

You don't need to use v6 at all

well i must say autokiller worked an absolute treat thanks so much man much recommended to anyone reading this thread with similar problems and poo-tang is right in most cases lag in gameloft games is due to incompetent work on gameloft part.

I and lots of other in here have a UHS-1 (post-class 10)-rated Sandisk 64 GB SDXC. Works great on updated systems (mostly not working on the units at launch date) and all current custom ROMs. Look up the thread on external memory - that's what the search function is for, mate!

Thank for the help. I'm not good with memory and types of memory. Is the SDXC same as microSDHC?

(micro)SDHC is limited to 32 GB, everything above is (micro)SDXC. SDXC is by default formatted exFAT, which is also supported by the TF700 using a preinstalled proprietary kernel module.

_that gave you the technically far more complete and eloquent answer (@_that: how do you keep all this inf in your brain? ) but the short answer for Dummies is that if we can use SDXC to good effect, you can use SDHC (since it is an older standard, and support for it is more widespread).

Ah. I know how to do a search, but I have to admit that I oftentimes just don't take the time for that. Still, I think you're great for knowledge!
Hey, don't underrate the ability to Google. You might be surprised how many otherwise smart people find it difficult to form a good query that returns focused results.

Hahaha, you're right. Luckily, when I said 'I know how to search", I really meant "I know how to search". I do find it funny how, sometimes, just adding one term -- or even changing the sequence of terms -- makes the results so different. You really have to be creative sometimes. (And I'm surprised at what people have published about -- it's very, very rare that nobody ever posted on a specific subject. One big happy pool of information waiting to be harvested.

[Q] How to use extSD as main storage? P3100

Not to long ago we got a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for our son, model P3100. We made a big mistake by going for the 8GB version as out of the 8GB only 4GB is usable. We bought and installed 2 large games and the space is pretty much full. We thought an extSD card would solve the issue and so we got an additional 16GB card. Unfortunately Samsung consists of a bunch of morons... Kind of disappointing after being a huge fan of them.
Can anyone guide me or give advice on what can be done? I was hoping to somehow use the extSD card to store the games...
The device is not rooted.

I really do not think it is Samsung's fault. Google doesn't much care for external storage, and it shows in their newer os'es. Samsung and others have stated that it is Google's doing.

Swap External and Internal Memory
Hi everyone
I have a similar problem.
I use a P 3100 running stock firmware 4.1.2/ stock kernel/ Rooted
Need to swap External to Internal
Problems
App1 : Swap External to Internal by codlab - Has anyone tested this
App2 : GL 2 SD - It works for games, what about other apps with huge memory consumption? I use a lot of medical apps with frequent updates
Method1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182928
Does this work for stock kernel's too using the same steps?
Please Advice
Thanks
Arun

I have a Galaxy Tablet 2 GT-P5113..
The problem I have is, the tablet I have only has 800 Mb Ram, which makes the stock android system lag like crazy.
Are there any Roms that support this tablet and take up a really small amout of ram ?
Thank You!
P.S Sorry if the post is not HQ I'm new to the forums, this is like my 3rd thread on here.

I'm new too.
I rooted my Tab 2 7 and install a custom ROM.
If you have ES File manager (or similar) you can move some of your files that are taking up space on your internal ram to a micro sdhc card.
I currently have 3.9 GB free of the internal 4.5 GB that the tablet uses for storage. I have a 16GB external card with 4 GB left after all my movies and music and stuff.

Memory Swapping on X2 ?

Hi, As I am still THE one using the X2 as daily device, I feel more and more the age of the phone, using nowadays apps, sites .... . I think RAM lack is a issue.
As I have a very big SD card, and as I did it on other devices back in a time, I thought about using SD to swap memory to increase RAM.
Any body tried that already on X2? on a EMUI4 B2xx rom ? (I use simply international B207)
I'll make some reading about what are the goods partitions/formats/apps to do that now in 2021, but if anybody tried already, Feedback and advices are welcome.
Thanks
PS: I know it's bad for the SD card lifetime ....
