Since u hv alot of money to assemble your PC, why dint u go for i5 gen3-quad core, u ll save alot of power consumption as well. Also get one more 4GB ddr3 ram. It will boost up ur multi tasking ability while gaming
PS-sorry this post is out of android context.

Now listen, i5 3330p the cheapest latest gen one (that time now it is haswell) was 13-14000 I got the i3 for 6500 almost half the price and performance is more than 70 percent, I have never nnor I plan on playing any kind of strategy game, I like fps, 3rd person shooter, racing, soccer, tennis and every other genre other than strategy kind of games.. all the action based games are GPU limited changing the cpu will have less than 10% difference, I got the 650 ti boost which is 5-10% slower than 660 of price 16,000 which I have surpassed by overclocking.. I got the gpu for 11,000 an amzing deal it is not around 13,500..also about the ram, currently there is no game than can fully saturate 4gb ram if nothing else is opened.. maybe next gen will be able to.. I will buy a 2gb at the end of session to make it 3x2gb...I would have bough 6300 but it was not avaiable it is a very good cpu but requires a an aftermarket cooler for stabel and quiet function.. Here in india everything of AMD is too overpriced the best deal is 7870 and 6300..I have maxed out each game that I have played, I haven't played crysis 3 or 2, basically I had around 17000-18,000 for cpu and gpu can you make out anything better than that for action gaming like fps, racing etc

U r a moderate gamer, so GPU is what matters to you..and u have done a fair deal with it. My previous post was with context to multimedia usage. Benchmark tests shows that core2duo is evn better than i3.
Also 1 more thing i wanna ask, is ur SMPS capable enough to handle gpu load ?

Can you please give me the source from where you found out that any core 2 duo is beter at anything than i3 3220, even if it is better at surfing i3 with hyperthreading is the best cpu till i52nd gen it is better than i5 ist gen, and also my smps is cosair cx430 with a more than enough amperage of 28A on 12v lane i.e I can get 384W at best for CPU and GPU also gpu has a 6pin powerconnector. I3 can get 60W at best and gpu 110-120w I have a huge margin...Also why am I moderate gamer, (is it cause I don't like 1 genre of games??) with no offense, u surely knows all about "heavy" terms notations Just google the comparison of core2duo and i3. Experience says that if i have core2duo, i dont need i3. Rest u read blogs around web.
Secondly, gtx650 needs 400W input(verify on nvidia site). your smps is entry model smps for gaming. But it ur pc is working well on heavy games, then it's alright
now stop this discussion. The page is for android, not PC

All right this is the last post(if you want to continue I can), firstly the main difference in core 2 duo and i3 is hyperthreading in which 2 cores are emulated as 4 cores which is very effective it is the main performance booster.. and secondly the smps thing you mentioned I am using a very low power intel cpu with TDP of 55 and it takes 65W at best the and gpu is 650 ti boost not 650, it's power requirement is 450 W(with 140 Watt Max Power Consumption) which I know. People in india use very cheap smps like zebronics and I ball those just show that they are 500 or 600W but deliver less than 300W it is a known fact. then main thing to look for is the amperage on +12v lane, from here the most powerhungry parts the cpu and gpu take power, Also I bought the latest gen green 1 tb hdd which saves somewhat power saver and has very good sequential buy they take power from _+5v lane they can be powered from the cheapest smps.. I can give you an excellant example here http://www.flipkart.com/zebronic-ze...ZZNG&ref=9abf7ce0-7f32-4110-b5a6-1cb81f9e1248 this crappy 450W zebronics smps has 16A on 12 v lane i.e. 16x12=192W I can assure you than it won't even deliver 130-140W.. that cx430v2 has 28A on 12v lane with 80% efficiency, I will surely get 340-350 w atleast but only 65+150 is required=215W is required.. I hope I cleared some doubts about the smps things that moost people have they don't invest in smps then their powerhungry components start to deteriorate..Also accept my friend request..the main thing that seperates i3 and core2duo is 4 virtual cores vs 2 cores, faster IPC, better efficiency..

Hi my name is DloBrown and Im A nightly addict!!!
Here's an interesting tidbit from Anand Tech in their latest article (related to the TouchPad, but it can still apply here):
From a CPU standpoint, Apple has a performance advantage at the same clock speed, but Qualcomm runs its cores at a higher clock. NVIDIA claimed that the move to an out-of-order architecture in the A9 was good for a 20% increase in IPC. Qualcomm has a 20% clock speed advantage. In most situations I think it's safe to say that the A5 and the APQ8060 have equally performing CPUs.

In all these test you will note he explains the power loss due to the screen. I have been looking for the article I came across awhile back which some one who has worked with the core of GS 2 (mali), Tegra 2, and Sensation (Areno 8260) he shows and explains how the Sensation CPU and GPU is miles ahead of everything else. Then shows and explains in detail why it tests lower part of it is the throttle control. Like newer motors that are 8 cylinders and only use 4 or 6 when needed. The 8660 only uses what it needs to complete the task (not synced to one another or run as one). He also went on to explain that the bench mark is showing one chip while the other is playing with core systems. In reality you x2 the benchmark scores and your about right on the number. He also did the math and broke down exactly what is lost because of the screen and separately explains how capping the frame rate affects performance.

I wouldn't say the 8x60 is miles ahead of any SoC. It is powerful, but every SoC has its own advantages/disadvantages. The primary disadvantage for the 8x60 is that it can't perform out of order instructions which is why any A9 CPU will always be faster than a Scorpion CPU at the same clock speed (Exynos).
Here is true power of MALI 400 GPU in SGS2. Galaxy S2 has a framerate/Vsync cap at 59fps too. It would probably be 300fps with Vsync Off. Sensation is still a beast though

Dual channel means that in a single instant, two memory operations (read or write) can be executed. This means that RAM is twice as fast... in theory, at least.
You can probably test that with your own PC: Connect a single module of RAM and check the speed reported by your BIOS (800Mhz, 1000Mhz...) and then try plugging in another module and that speed will double (to 1600Mhz, 2000Mhz...).
"Dual memory" means that there are 2 RAM modules present, which is a requirement for dual channel and makes me believe that nothing of this is more than just buzzwords randomly added to make a joke/pun with the dual core CPU and 3D screen/camera.

You would probably regret that bro. If you are looking for 3D capabilities, O3D is the phone for you. If you dont give a penny to 3D capabilities, there are much better alternatives than EVO3D out there.
I would suggest Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy Note if you are into big screens.
It is all about expectations afterall.

Believe me, that wont be soon. I would give it at least two years from now. And probably we all will replace our phones with something that has at least 4GB of ram until then. Our mobile phones will replace our PC's, we will only need keyboad/mouse/screen docks to plug our devices and use anywhere we want. Carry your work laptop in your pocket
And your memory can process twice faster, this means there is no need for the jobs to wait in line. 512 MB Dual channel ram theoretically can do everything that a 1 GB mono channel ram does. And it provides faster speeds.

Then we agree to disagree
I am pretty sure, mobile computing technology will reach very high limits so there wont be any need for desktop PC's. Max 5 years I would say, but inevidable even later.
Probably in the times of Alexander Graham Bell, people would never imagine current telecommunication systems

Nobody will make such an app as long as the mass market phones are with less than 2 GB of RAM
Actually even the most heavyweight games of today use no more than 150 MB RAM.
To be honest the amount of RAM under Linux (Android) has only one real use in everyday life and that's how many apps you can have open at the same time before the system begins autokilling them.
With that in mind I can surery say that the O3D has more than enough RAM to make it at least through 2012. And as we all know the world will come to an end afterwards ))

Dual channel ram? What does this actually mean for us

Okay so our phones apparently have dual channel ram honestly. Idk what this means for us Ik we have 512mb does this mean 2 512mb sticks actually adding up to 1gig or does it mean 2 256mb sharing processes also what does it do please any answers would be nice I moved from the sensation and I like this phone it seems faster than it or the evo 3d

Dual channel increases the max bandwidth of memory by using 2 channels instead of one, we probably have 2 256 mb chips, each one with his own channel.
It should help in bandwidth intensive scenarios (gaming for example)

Im an ITT graduate for computer forensics. In this age part of my learning was to forensically examine all smartphones as well since they are just as capable in hiding data as computers are. Dual channel means 2 channels of memory as opposed to one to increase bandwidth just as mentioned above. Part of the reason computers are getting faster and gaming smoother is because of increased RAM channels and video cards increasing in GPU Cores and memory lanes or channels, this applies to phones. I actually have one , LG Thrill 4G or AKA Optimus 3D and tested it with a benchmark against some of the newest devices the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 both with quad core processors and single channel RAM. My results are as follows:
Optimus 3D: 1856.4 Mbp/s
Galaxy S3: 821.66 Mbp/s
Note 2: 849.39 Mbp/s
As you can see the note and s3 have same memory architecture and practically tested the same the difference was probably in the amount of apps running in background. The LG tested more than double the speed and it only had about 270mb of free RAM at time of test as opposed to the 1300+ mb or 1.3gb or RAM free on note and galaxy. Faster RAM means more responsive gaming and smoother graphics. Now the processor of the thrill 4g is ages behind so its almost unfair to compare app launching and phone reboot to the other devices I have but even the processor difference the RAM tests speak for themselves. Devices in similar time as the Optimus wont even come close to gaming and video playback because the faster the memory the more you can process and more efficiently as well. I'm sure that there is a game or two out there that would run better on the LG than even some of today's phones its just a matter of searching and testing.
I am quite honestly puzzled at why that was the only phone with dual channel RAM, I would have expected today's quad core devices to utilize this architecture and result in much faster smoother running phones with astonishing overclocking results.
Thaaaaaaaaanks for this answer! !!
But I have a question .. in overclocking is that damage the CPU ??? and the same question about the tempreture?? and what the overclocking actually do ?? Why did not lg overclock thier phones ??
Thanks

That is strange because the Exynos 4412 SoC used in the s3/note2 actually supports dual channel DDR2/DDR3 ram with up to 400Mhz clock rate

Agreed after further investigation I realized that the s3/note2 do utilize ddr2 ram...however repetitively running the ram benchmark the lg optimus 3d at minimum doubles the data throughput. ....strange...very strange...

Why do androids need so much power?

I know there is a thread about this somewhere, but i wanted to ask this in our forum (rethorical question)
Why are companies making 4 core cpu and 2 gb ram phones, i mean with those spec are ridiculous, you could play 8 different android games at an instance or have 40 background apps
Our pico i a great example, it works on games flawlessly, i can't say what i can't do on it
I dont even know a 512mb ram <1ghz single core phone which would lag at multi tasking, web browsing, office, gaming 'n stuff
our pico got scorpion cpu which is good for multitasking
our device is best in its range

Only problem for me are flash videos or high bandwith videos.. for example watching sports streams.. 500-1000 kbps is OK, but over 1000 lags too much.. 2000 kbps videos in Sopcast won't even run.
So I would like to have some faster CPU/more RAM, but I still like this phone so I am not considering buying a new one yet..

I know, there is a reason why they make 2core CPU-s and I just pointed to one of the examples
I think prob is with android coding. You see wp8 you can't just have any lag with try as you might and ios and bb10 seem to run perfectly with their respective configuration. That is why I am sick of android and am going to buy a Nokia lumia 820 or iPhone 4.

Completely agree wid u bro... the fastest phone of android is not as much smooth as a iPhone!

512mb still enough for android today?

I want to buy a new phone, looking at some dualcore models with mali 400 graphics, but only 512mb ram.
Do you guys think 512mb ram will still do the job in ics/jb when i want to game a bit? Mostly clash of clans, temple run and subway surfers.

This is pretty much the best way to sum this up. If you're just looking for an everyday experience - it is enough.
Depending on what frequencies your carrier uses, check out the Blu Life Play. There are two models; one does 850/1900 MHz, the other I think does 850/2100 MHz for 3G. It has 4GB of internal memory, however it takes a 64GB without issue and supports install apps (and app data!!!!) to external memory (like Gingerbread phones and before used to do). It's also dual SIM and does DC-HSPA+ if your carrier supports it.
It runs (almost) stock Android 4.2 and it's only like $215 USD without contract.
The cheap Huawei Y300 is also equiped with only 512MB RAM.
It's running games pretty good with apps like whatsapp and swiftkey in the background.
Of course you can forget multitasking with many apps running ... or opening a lot of sites in the browser.
512 mb is okay for Jellybean, but it definitely depends on the use case. The games you mentioned run fine as long as the screen is not HD. I ran NEO GEO games and Ridge Racer 3 on PS1 emulator and they ran fine on 512 mb RAM + A7 dual core at 1.3 ghz with Mali 400 GPU but can't have many apps running on background or many tabs open in brower.
There are 2 threads devoted to questions about devices, please repost your question in one of these two threads: The what should I buy thread or The Device Suggestion Thread.
Thanks!
