I Just got a new htc one xl (snapdragon) but i have a problem. When i am going to make an update (OTA) to the android it starts to install it and in the middle stop and i get an error image. I tried a factory reset but nothing changed. Is a problem that i don't have SIM in the phone ? (i don't have micro sim for now but i don't think this is a problem

I would think it might stop when it gets to the part about needing to configure for a carrier. Are you downloading a carrier (ATT, etc) based update?

I download the automaticly update i dont know what is it exactly.
I bought it from china and i live in Greece. Maybe this is the problem
Tomorrow i will put a sim and i will update the thread.
Thanks for the fast reply

It's most likely a Hong Kong model if you bought it from China, but you might still need to have a SIM inserted for it to carry through with the update.

Not Working with SIM inside
I just tried the update with SIM on but the same....
Any solution?

Same issue!
I have the same phone and when updating the software 10 days ago had the same issue. I have tried everything - including the factory reset suggested by HTC - and the phone will now only go as far as the beats audio splash screen. It hangs there forever, generating vast amounts of heat and nothing else!
After a very snotty email to customer services, I have been offered a free check - even though the phone's just out of warranty - if I spend 80RM to send it to Kuala Lumpur?!
If it gets resolved, I'll let you know...but I'm not holding my breath... I seem to have a ery expensive light-up paper weight now...

HTC ONE X wi-fi issue ( please read )

Hi guys, I have sent my phone off for repair to HTC as i have had WI-FI issues basically since I bought the phone last year, the wi-fi disconnects at weaker areas, whereas the other phones i have tested work fine..I have only recently realised that thi was a manufacturing issue after reading reviews online. So I have decided to send the phone off for repair, a week later (today) I get a quotation from HTC of £187! Bear in mind I still have warranty on my phone..HTC initially did not state the reason why I have received the charge, they just claimed that the work required was caused by the damage that isn't covered by warranty. So i went onto HTC chat and spoke to someone called Wioleta, she eventually told me that I have installed "unauthorized software" on my phone. Now I PROMISE YOU guys, i have not done any tweaking on my phone for a long long time...before I did install a ROM rooted my phone etc, but i had to set everything to default settings as i have sent the phone off before because of a different issue ( coloured lines on my phone - if you guys remember), I have done the procedure correctly and HAVE NOT been charged by HTC for the repair,so it was done free...ever since the repair I have not done any modifications to my phone or downloaded any illegal software...So I would like to know why they said i have done this and is it possible that they could have done this?? I have attached a picture of what Wioleta has sent me on chat...I think there is a mistake somewhere because i am innocent...and I have already sent them a complaint about it, but I really need my phone back... please can somebody give me some advice on how to tackle these twats! Thanks for reading.

Your warranty is void the moment you unlock your bootloader. It does not reinitialize when you return to stock it remsins void. There is no fighting it. Htc is in the right.

"Slot has been permanently blocked"

I flashed a custom ROM and the on first screen my device asked to insert the PIN code, then i tried more than two times and it showed "Slot has been permanently blocked". I could't make any phonecalls And when i flashed my stock ROM it works normal.
Do you know how to unlock the SIM slot?
Thank you very much.
Device: Blu vivo IV (Gionne s.5.5) chipset 6598
Custom ROM: Lolifox V6
---------------------------------
If you truly believe the device is stolen or has otherwise been acquired through illegitimate means, we can't help you - you should contact the authorities and have the seller investigated. Stealing is a crime and stolen IMEIs are blocked for that very reason.
If not, first check that the phone supports the network frequencies that your carrier uses wherever you are - not all phones support all bands, and not all carriers support all bands either.
If you can tell us the make and model of the phone, we can point you to a device-specific forum in case it's a general problem or issue with that phone model.
Beyond that, you can try to take up with the manufacturer of the phone or the carrier if it's a carrier-branded phone.
I once had to make numerous called to my carrier's support line because my new imported phone was somehow registered in my carrier's database as a completely different kind of device, so the system kept kicking me off the data plan."

My device was not stolen, i bought it recently, if you guys want i could post the photography of the box.
I live in BRAZIL (BLU IV) and i am trying to install a custom room for a device which's made for INDIA(GIONE s5.5), the device, it self, is the same, what changes its the "software".I saw a video on youtube that someone from USA installed the same custom ROM and didn't get any problem.
I am apologies for this good English sirs.
If you enter the wrong PIN more than three times, the "slot" gets blocked and you can't use your SIM to connect to the network anymore. Newly bought SIM cards come inside one bigger card on which your PUC is written on. For security purposes, SIM cards require this code to be entered if they get locked down.

[Q] Missing letters in the S6 system

Hello.
I got the Samsung Galaxy S6 on the 11th of April this year.
But I've been having som problems since then.
When I use the phone some letters isn't showing (see photos). It's everywhere from the clock on the lockscreen, messages app, to games.
I was wondering if anybody knows about this?
Samsung in Denmark says that I'm the only one they heard of who had this problem.
So I was curious.
Thanks in advance.

Might be due to a rogue app. Go to recovery mode and do full reset.

remember to also do a backup if possible. You can use smart switch PC application
Letters missing
I have the exact same problem with mine. After multiple factory resets, waiting for updates, and running it in safe mode I finally sent mine into Samsung support hopefully to get fixed.

I've tried the same things as you mention. And sent it to my carrier for a repair. But all they did was update it and ship it back. No difference.
So after some time now, I've convinced my local Samsung shop to tell my carrier that there is a problem with the "motherboard" of the phone.
And that all of the inside hardware should be changed to some new.
So let's see how it's gonna end.
But please, tell me if you find a solution.

No service with valid sim card

Hi everyone,
I'm having a very bad issue with my Nexus 5.
Last week, my mobile network stopped working, always displaying "No service".
The sim card was still recognized, since I had to enter my pin code after each reboot.
So I tried to put my sim card in a friend's phone, and it worked perfectly on his.
Next, I called Google tech support to get some information and they simply sent me another Nexus 5 to solve the issue.
The thing is, I'm having the same issue with the new phone, but it's even worse.
The sim card is not recognized at first when I reboot the phone.
After I put it out and in once, it asks me for my pin code. And then, I get the "No service" again.
If I try to make a call it says : "Turn off airplane mode to make a call" (see attached screenshot). I tried to turn it on and off, nothing works.
I must precise that the network worked as a charm with the new phone for 3 days and then nothing.
I tried several sim cards from different service providers, and I get the exact same issue every time. and boot in safe mode but i get the no service again

Here is my configuration :
Android 6.0.1
Security patch level : 1 january. 2016
Baseband version : M8974A-2.0.50.2.28
Build number number : MMB29S
Is anyone having this issue ?
Thanks.
There is a known problem with the N5 where a totally dead battery can kill the radio component. No, it makes no sense to me either, but after it happened to me I did a lot of reading across many forums and discovered I wasn't alone. Flashing half a dozen different ROMs made no difference. Eventually I contacted Google and, as with you, they replaced my N5 with a refurbished model which has worked perfectly ever since.
All I can suggest is that you report the second phone to Google and hope that they will replace it again.

SM-G930U Unlocked USA model keeps restarting after cell activation.

My new SM-G930U keeps activation its self with the carrier (Sprint) and then says it needs to restart, over and over again. I disabled the Sprint apps that got installed probably used to activate cell service and the phone is fine.
I want to know if this is a know Samsung issue or something. I was no able to move my data and my way through Samsung process it restarts. I had to remove Sim card to allow it to restore my data first then add the sim card after I disabled Sprint apps.
Has anyone had this issue?
Sprint apps got installed by who? The whole idea of this phone is to keep that crap off.

Are you sure you have the G930U. There shouldn't be any sprint apps on that pre loaded unless you downloaded them.

Any tips for getting the G930U to activate on Sprint's network? Bought new G930U's for my wife and I, took them to Sprint to get activated yesterday, her's got going just fine, but they spent three hours trying to get mine going to no avail. They tried the North American and International SIM cards on my device, but couldn't get it to connect to Sprint's network. I haven't tried any Sprint apps yet. Thanks.

That is the apps, there really just self activation apps not "Sprint apps"
Any how I had to disable them or every 2 minutes the phone was self activated on the network and auto restart to apply changes...
Maybe Samsung will fix issue or its with my Sprint reseller MVNO company that has the issue. I use a free cell line from RingPlus.
